Buy Candle Wick Stickers India

Candle wick stickers are the cheapest, smallest, most ignored, and most failure-causing component in Indian candle making. A wick sticker is a double-sided heat-resistant adhesive disc that anchors the wick tab to the candle jar base. Without it, wicks drift during pour, sit crooked, burn at angles, and ruin the candle. CSI sells wick stickers in 100, 500, and 1000 packs for makers from hobby to production scale. Buy directly from the CSI collection page or WhatsApp +91-7397976926 for current stock.
- Pack of 100: ₹150-300 — hobby and sampling volumes
- Pack of 500: ₹500-800 — small-scale commercial production
- Pack of 1000: ₹900-1,500 — production-scale and bulk savings
- Adhesive grade: Heat-resistant to 100°C — survives full wax pour cycle
- Sizing: 15mm and 20mm diameter to match standard wick tab bases
- Final verdict: Non-negotiable for any commercial candle production
The smallest decision in candle making is also the one that decides whether your candle burns straight or burns crooked. A 12mm sticker is not glamorous. It is not photogenic. It is also not optional.
Why wick stickers are non-negotiable for commercial candle making
There are three reasons commercial candle makers in India use wick stickers exclusively, and never the DIY alternatives. Reason 1 — they survive the pour temperature. Wick sticker adhesive is engineered to hold its grip at 80-100°C, which is the maximum wax temperature your candle will see. Hot glue softens at 60°C and fails. Wax beads have no shear strength and fail during pour. Reason 2 — they hold the wick perfectly centred. The sticker positions the wick tab on a flat base, parallel to the jar bottom, which means the wick rises straight up through the centre of the candle. Crooked wicks burn at angles, tunnel asymmetrically, and create the candle defect customers complain about most. Reason 3 — they scale. Sticking 100 wick stickers in 10 minutes is production-ready. Hot-gluing 100 wicks takes 45-60 minutes with a hot glue gun and produces inconsistent results.
- Hot glue fails at 60°C — releases wick during pour
- Wax bead has no shear strength — wick drifts
- "No adhesion" means wicks land anywhere
- 15-30% of candles have off-centre wicks
- Crooked wicks tunnel asymmetrically during burn
- Customer-visible defects in finished candles
- Returns and refund requests for "bad burn"
- Cannot scale beyond 20-30 candles per batch
- Heat-resistant adhesive — holds to 100°C
- Survives full wax pour cycle without failure
- Wick stays centred from pour to set
- Sub-2% defect rate in production batches
- Straight wick = even burn = full melt pool
- Customer-grade finish on every candle
- Apply 100 stickers in under 10 minutes
- Production-ready for any batch size
The double-sided heat-resistant adhesive — what makes it work
CSI wick stickers use a specific adhesive formulation engineered for the candle making temperature range. The adhesive is acrylic-based with cross-linked polymer chains that maintain shear strength up to 100°C — meaning it holds its grip even when the candle jar warms to 70-80°C during pouring and curing. The adhesive layer is sandwiched between two release papers — one side attaches to the metal wick tab, the other side to the glass jar bottom. The bond on both surfaces is permanent once pressed for 10 seconds at room temperature.
This is not the same adhesive as packaging tape or office-grade double-sided tape. Those products use lower-temperature adhesives that begin softening at 50-55°C and fail completely at the temperatures candle making operates at. The ₹100-200 difference between a generic "double-sided sticker" sold at a stationery store and a real candle wick sticker is the difference between an anchor that holds and an anchor that releases mid-pour.
Sticker diameter — match to wick base diameter
Wick stickers come in two standard diameters that match the standard metal wick tab sizes used in Indian candle making. 15mm stickers match the standard wick tab base used for small jars (60-150g candles) and smaller wick sizes (ECO-1 through ECO-6, CD-4 through CD-8). 20mm stickers match the larger wick tab base used for medium-to-large jars (180-400g candles) and larger wick sizes (ECO-8 through ECO-16, CD-10 through CD-18). The sticker diameter should be 1-2mm larger than the wick tab base for full coverage and adhesion margin.
If you are not sure which wick tab size you are using, the simplest test is to place a wick on a 15mm sticker — if the metal base extends beyond the sticker edge, you need 20mm. If the sticker extends well beyond the base, 15mm is correct. Most scaling Indian candle brands stock both sizes — 15mm for their small SKUs (gift candles, sampling sets, travel tins) and 20mm for their flagship SKUs (200-300g feature candles).
How to apply a wick sticker correctly
The application is mechanical and takes about 6-8 seconds per candle once practiced. Step 1 — clean the jar bottom. Wipe the inside of the candle jar with isopropyl alcohol or a dry lint-free cloth. Any oil, dust, or moisture on the glass weakens the adhesive bond. Step 2 — peel one release paper. The sticker has two protective papers. Peel one side and press it onto the metal wick tab base. Step 3 — peel the second release paper. Hold the wick by the top, peel away the remaining paper, and lower the wick tab into the centre of the jar bottom. Step 4 — press and hold for 10 seconds. Use a long pencil, a chopstick, or a dedicated wick-centring tool to press the tab firmly against the glass for 10 seconds. Step 5 — verify centring. Look down into the jar and confirm the wick is positioned in the geometric centre of the base.
Bulk packs for production-scale makers
If you are scaling past hobby volumes — 50+ candles per week or 200+ per month — bulk packs are the only sensible purchase. The per-sticker cost drops from ₹1.50-3 at 100-pack pricing to ₹0.90-1.50 at 1000-pack pricing, which is a 30-50% saving on a component you will use on every candle for the rest of your business. Bulk packs also reduce reorder frequency — a 1000 pack supports about 8-10 months of production at 25 candles per week, which means one purchase covers most of a year.
For production-scale brands running 4+ SKU lines or 500+ candles per month, we recommend buying both 15mm and 20mm in 1000-packs to cover the full small-to-large jar range. This is the configuration most scaling D2C candle brands settle on within 6-12 months — and it removes wick adhesion from the list of things that ever need to be thought about during production. What happens when you skip wick stickers
Three things happen, in this order. First — the wick drifts during pour. When you pour 80°C wax into the jar, the molten wax exerts buoyancy and lateral flow forces on whatever is anchored at the bottom. Without proper adhesion, the wick tab releases, the wick floats, drifts, and lands wherever the wax current pushed it — usually 5-15mm off-centre. Second — the wick sits crooked. An off-centre wick burns at an angle, which means the melt pool develops asymmetrically. One side of the candle melts faster than the other. The candle tunnels on the slow side and pools too aggressively on the fast side.
Third — the wick mushrooms or sputters during burn. Crooked wicks experience uneven oxygen flow because the flame is no longer centred over the melt pool. This causes carbon deposits to build up at the tip ("mushrooming"), black smoke, and inconsistent burn brightness. If you are dealing with wick mushrooming, the root cause is often wick anchoring upstream of the burn itself — see our candle wick mushrooming blog for the complete diagnosis framework. Anchoring fix is upstream. Mushrooming is downstream.
