Pillars are heavy, so they use oil quickly. At an 8% load, an illustrative 250 g pillar takes 20 g of oil, which is more than a whole 15 g tester. This page sizes every pack in pillars, pairs each 100 g of oil with the wax it needs, and prices two complete orders.

illustrative 250 g pillars scented by one 100 g bottle at 8% · 3.12 pillars at 400 g · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Where can I buy fragrance oil for pillar candles? CSI sells 93 fragrance oils, 86 with at least one size in stock, alongside Soy Pillar Wax, pillar moulds, wicks and dyes, so a pillar order can come from one cart. Sizes run 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg.

What size should I buy for pillars? 50 g to test, 100 g to launch, 500 g or 1 kg once a scent sells. A 15 g tester scents only 0.75 of an illustrative 250 g pillar at 8%, so it is too small for a full-size pillar test.

How much wax do I need per bottle? At 8%, every 100 g of oil pairs with 1,150 g of wax (1.25 kg of finished pillars). In Soy Pillar Wax that is ₹690.00. See pairing oil with wax.

Does CSI sell a pillar fragrance kit? No fragrance sample pack or pillar fragrance kit is listed. CSI's candle-making kits exist, but their fragrance contents are not published. Build your own test set from 50 g bottles; the carts below show how.
The short answer
Pillars per pack: At 8%: 15 g → 0.75 of a 250 g pillar · 50 g → 2.5 · 100 g → 5 · 500 g → 25 · 1 kg → 50. For 400 g pillars: 0.47 · 1.56 · 3.12 · 15.62 · 31.25.
Wax pairing: Each 100 g of oil needs 1,566.67 g of wax at 6%, 1,150 g at 8% and 900 g at 10%. Soy Pillar Wax is ₹0.60 a gram at every size.
Carts: Launch cart (three oils at 100 g, 5 kg wax, two moulds): ₹7,897.64. Season cart (three oils at 500 g, 20 kg wax, 100 wicks): ₹20,662.00.
What one bottle scents — pillars per pack at an 8% load (illustrative 250 g and 400 g pillars) 0.75 0.47 15 g 2.5 1.56 50 g 5 3.12 100 g 25 15.62 500 g 50 31.25 1 kg 250 g pillars (20 g oil each) 400 g pillars (32 g oil each) A 15 g tester does not scent even one 250 g pillar at 8%. Bar heights on a log scale so the small packs stay visible. Pillar weights are illustrative — weigh your own mould's fill.
Pillars per pack are plain arithmetic: pack grams ÷ oil per pillar (20 g for 250 g, 32 g for 400 g, both at 8%). The pillar weights are illustrative, because CSI does not publish mould volumes. Weigh your own mould's wax fill and redo the division.
Straight answer
How should I buy fragrance oils for pillar candle making?
Buy by the pillar, not by the bottle. A pillar is heavier than most jar candles, so the oil runs out faster. An illustrative 250 g pillar at an 8% working load takes 20 g of oil. That means a 15 g tester does not scent even one pillar. A 50 g bottle scents 2.5 pillars, a 100 g scents 5 and a 1 kg scents 50. So for pillars the practical tester is the 50 g. For Lavender, that costs ₹270.00, or ₹5.40 a gram against ₹7.00 for the 15 g. Launch a proven scent from 100 g and move to 500 g or 1 kg once it sells. Pair every 100 g of oil with about 1,150 g of Soy Pillar Wax (₹690.00) at 8%. Then add a mould, sealer and braided wicks, and the whole order comes from one cart. CSI does not list a fragrance sample pack or pillar kit, so build the test set yourself. For a first pillar line, our launch cart of three oils, 5 kg of wax and two moulds costs ₹7,897.64.
One line: for pillars the 50 g is the tester and the 100 g is the launch size; the 15 g does not fill one pillar.
The pillar tester that actually fills a pillar: Lavender 50 g at ₹270.00, Fallen Leaves 50 g at ₹236.00 and Bergamot Amber 50 g at ₹280.00, ₹786.00 for 150 g. That is 2.5 illustrative 250 g pillars per scent at 8%.

What each pack size scents, in pillars

The question is not "which bottle is cheapest". It is "how many pillars does this bottle make, and when do I reorder".

CSI lists oils in up to five sizes: 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg. For a pillar maker the useful way to read that ladder is in pillars. The table below does it for Lavender, which sits at the top of CSI's best-selling sort and is listed in all five sizes. We show two illustrative pillar weights, 250 g and 400 g, and three loads for the smaller pillar. The loads are a labelled test range, not a published ceiling. CSI does not publish a fragrance maximum for its pillar wax.

Lavender, all five sizes · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026 · pillars = pack grams ÷ oil per pillar
How many pillars one bottle scents
Pack Price ₹/g 250 g at 6% (15 g) 250 g at 8% (20 g) 250 g at 10% (25 g) 400 g at 8% (32 g)
15 g ₹105.02 ₹7.00 1.00 0.75 0.60 0.47
50 g ₹270.00 ₹5.40 3.33 2.50 2.00 1.56
100 g ₹540.00 ₹5.40 6.67 5.00 4.00 3.12
500 g ₹2,620.00 ₹5.24 33.33 25.00 20.00 15.62
1 kg ₹5,221.00 ₹5.22 66.67 50.00 40.00 31.25

Read down the 8% column and the ladder becomes a production plan. A 50 g bottle is a test. A 100 g bottle is a small launch of five pillars. A 500 g bottle is a festive run of 25, and a kilo is 50. At 400 g the numbers fall by more than a third: a kilo scents 31.25 pillars. If your range mixes sizes, work in grams of oil, not in bottles. Add up the oil every pillar in the plan needs, then buy the pack sizes that cover it with a margin.

The price column tells the other half of the story. Lavender costs ₹7.00 a gram at 15 g and ₹5.40 at both 50 g and 100 g. It is ₹5.24 at 500 g and ₹5.22 at a kilo. For this oil, and for most of the catalogue, the only real per-gram step is from 15 g to 50 g. Above 50 g you are mostly buying more pillars before the next reorder, not a lower rate. Across the collection, 52 of 91 oils cost within 1% per gram at 1 kg and at 100 g. Only 24 show a kilo saving of 5% or more. Buy 1 Kg Fragrance Oil for Pillar and Mould Candle Making works through the kilo decision oil by oil.

Plan the spare, not just the pillars
Pillars fail in ways jars do not. A torn edge at demould or a sweaty test means a remelt, and some oil is lost each time. Plan 3–5% extra oil and wax for pour loss and test burns. That is a working assumption, not a measured figure. On a 100 g launch it is 3 to 5 g, which is why 100 g is labelled "5 pillars" and not "5 pillars and a spare".

Why the 15 g tester is too small for a pillar

Across CSI's catalogue, 15 g is the de facto sample size, and 51 oils offer it in stock. For jar candles it works well: 15 g scents about one 180–200 g candle at 8%. For pillars it falls short, because an illustrative 250 g pillar at 8% needs 20 g. You would be testing a smaller pillar than the one you plan to sell, or a lower load, and either one gives you a result that does not carry over.

The real pillar test is a three-load ladder: 6%, 8% and 10% in three 250 g pillars. That takes 15 + 20 + 25 = 60 g of oil per scent. There are two ways to buy 60 g, and the table prices both for three oils.

Oil to run a 6/8/10% ladder in three illustrative 250 g pillars (60 g) · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Buying a pillar test: 50 g + 15 g, or one 100 g?
Oil 15 g alone 50 g + 15 g 100 g Extra for the 100 g
Lavender ₹105.02 ₹270.00 + ₹105.02 = ₹375.02 (65 g, 5 g spare) ₹540.00 (100 g, 40 g spare) ₹164.98
Fallen Leaves ₹94.40 ₹236.00 + ₹94.40 = ₹330.40 (65 g, 5 g spare) ₹472.00 (100 g, 40 g spare) ₹141.60
Bergamot Amber ₹105.02 ₹280.00 + ₹105.02 = ₹385.02 (65 g, 5 g spare) ₹560.00 (100 g, 40 g spare) ₹174.98

The 50 g + 15 g route is the cheaper way to run exactly one ladder, by ₹141.60 to ₹174.98 per scent. The 100 g leaves you 40 g after the ladder. That is enough to repeat the winning load in two more pillars, or to pour a second batch after a wick change. If you are confident enough in a scent to want a re-test, the 100 g is the better buy. If you are screening many scents to drop most of them, buy 50 g + 15 g. For a full method to screen scents side by side, see Strong Fragrance Oils for Scented Mould Candles.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We would sell more if every scent went straight into a 100 g bottle. For screening, it should not. If you are choosing three scents from ten, buy the ten in 50 g, pour one 250 g pillar of each at 8%, and only buy the ladder quantity for the three that survive release and surface checks. Ten 50 g bottles of mid-priced oils cost far less than ten 100 g bottles, and most of them would be left unused.
The false economy. Some makers try to test pillars from a 15 g tester by pouring a 150 g test pillar at 10%. The result looks fine, and then the 400 g pillar at 8% behaves differently. Its melt pool, wick and cure are different. Test in the mould and weight you will sell, and let the buying follow the test, not the other way round.

Pairing each bottle of oil with the wax it needs

Every bottle of oil you buy commits you to a quantity of wax. Order them together.

Load is a share of the finished pillar's weight: oil = weight × load, and wax = weight − oil. Turn that round and each gram of oil tells you how much wax it needs. The table uses 100 g of oil as the unit, because that is the launch size, and prices the wax in Soy Pillar Wax at ₹0.60 a gram. Soy Pillar Wax is flat-priced: ₹300.00 for 500 g, ₹600.00 for a kilo, ₹3,000.00 for 5 kg and ₹6,000.00 for 10 kg.

Per 100 g of fragrance oil · Soy Pillar Wax at ₹0.60 / g · loads are a labelled test range, not a published ceiling
How much wax goes with each 100 g of oil
Load Finished pillar weight Wax needed Wax cost 250 g pillars 400 g pillars
6% 1,666.67 g 1,566.67 g ₹940.00 6.67 4.17
8% 1,250 g 1,150.00 g ₹690.00 5.00 3.12
10% 1,000 g 900.00 g ₹540.00 4.00 2.50

At 8%, three 100 g bottles need 3.45 kg of wax, so the 5 kg bag covers them with room for test pours and remelts. Three 500 g bottles need 17.25 kg, which is two 10 kg bags. Because pillar wax has no bulk break, buying it in 10 kg saves nothing per gram. Buy the bag size that matches the oil you have committed to. For Beeswax Pellets (₹800.00 a kilo) or Fully Refined Paraffin (₹354.00 a kilo) the weights are the same and only the rupees change. Best Fragrance Oils for Pillar Candles compares the four pillar waxes.

The CSI principle
Order oil and wax as one number.
The oil decides how many pillars you can make; the wax decides whether you can pour them. Size the wax to the oil, at the load you have tested, plus 3–5% for loss. Then neither one runs out first.

Two pillar carts, priced

Here are two complete orders built from CSI's listed prices. The launch cart is for a maker starting a three-scent pillar line. The season cart is for a maker who has tested those scents and is producing for a festive window. Neither is a CSI kit. CSI does not list a fragrance sample pack or a pillar fragrance kit, and the fragrance contents of its candle-making kits are not published.

Bergamot Amber 100 g ₹560.00
Soy Pillar Wax 5 kg ₹3,000.00

Candle Mold Sealer ₹472.00
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made, 50 ₹600.00
Red Candle Dye Chips ₹250.00
Total ₹7,897.64

Cart A holds 300 g of oil, which is 15 illustrative 250 g pillars at 8% (five per scent), and 5 kg of wax against the 3.45 kg those pillars need. Two moulds give two shapes. The Ribbed Pillar Mould is ₹1,060.82 in 5 × 10 cm and ₹1,414.82 in 5 × 15 cm (the 5 × 7 cm is out of stock). The Daisy Pillar Mould is ₹942.82. Weigh each mould's wax fill before you pour, because neither mould's volume is published and your pillars may not weigh 250 g. The red dye chips are there for the Fallen Leaves pillars. Dye dose is not published, so follow the product page.

Season cart · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Cart B — a festive run of the same three scents
Item Price
Lavender 500 g ₹2,620.00

Soy Pillar Wax 10 kg ₹6,000.00
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made, 100 ₹1,200.00
Total ₹20,662.00

Cart B holds 1.5 kg of oil: 75 illustrative 250 g pillars at 8%, needing 17.25 kg of wax. Two 10 kg bags leave a small working margin. It assumes you already own the moulds, and at 75 pillars you will want more than two. How many depends on how often each mould can be refilled, which is covered in Bulk Fragrance Oils for Pillar Candle Manufacturing. Note one detail in the oil lines. Lavender's 500 g costs ₹5.24 a gram, against ₹5.40 at 100 g. Fallen Leaves drops from ₹4.72 to ₹4.25, and Bergamot Amber from ₹5.60 to ₹5.44. The 500 g is worth it here because you are using the oil. It is not a discount to chase on untested scents.

Placing the order without surprises

A pillar order has more moving parts than a jar order. You are buying moulds that cannot be substituted mid-run, as well as oil, wax and wicks. The steps below are the order we would place them in.

1
Check stock on every lineA price you cannot buy is not a price. On the pull date the 5 × 7 cm Ribbed Pillar Mould, the Twisted Pillar Mould and several decorative moulds were out of stock, as were some oil sizes. Open each product page before you commit a production plan to it.
2
Buy moulds before oilYour mould decides your pillar weight, and the weight decides the oil. Buy one mould, weigh a water fill and then a wax fill (wax is lighter than water), and do the oil maths on the wax weight.
3
Buy test sizes of every candidate scent50 g for full-size pillar tests, or 50 g + 15 g for a 6/8/10% ladder. Test in the wax you will produce in.
4
Order oil and wax together for productionUse the pairing table: about 1,150 g of wax per 100 g of oil at 8%, plus 3–5% for loss. Soy Pillar Wax costs the same per gram at 500 g and at 10 kg, so match the bag to the run.
5
Add the small partsCandle Mold Sealer (₹472.00), braided wicks (₹12.00 each at every pack size) and a weighing scale (₹354.00) if you do not have one. Wick size for your pillar diameter is not published, so buy enough for a burn test at more than one size if you are unsure.
6
Ask for paperwork with the orderGST invoice, MSDS and IFRA documentation are available on request. Ask when you order, especially if the pillars are going to a retailer or a corporate client.
Ordering for Diwali (8 November 2026)? Pillars need pouring, curing, checking and wrapping, so festive oil and wax should be in your workshop by early October. Send your scents, sizes and pillar counts on WhatsApp and we will check stock and quote the order, with GST invoice.
Send your pillar order on WhatsApp

If your order goes past the listed packs — several kilos of one scent, or 10 kg of wax several times over — ask on WhatsApp for a quote. No volume discount figure is published, so do not build one into your costing until you have it in writing. Bulk Fragrance Oils for Pillar Candle Manufacturing covers that route for pillar production, and Where to Buy Fragrance Oils for Commercial Decorative Candle Production covers what to check in any supplier before a commercial run.

Fifteen grams tests a jar. Fifty grams tests a pillar.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A buying guide is where a supplier is most tempted to push the big bottle. This page tells you to screen scents in 50 g, shows where a 100 g is not worth the extra, and says plainly that above 50 g most oils cost the same per gram at every size.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled on 24 September 2026. Mould, sealer and dye prices come from the 24–25 September 2026 catalogue pull, and wick and tool prices from Blog 760's figures verified on 10 September 2026, rechecked on 25 September. Out-of-stock sizes are marked. Pillar counts, wax pairings and cart totals are plain arithmetic, shown so you can check them.

The 250 g and 400 g pillars are illustrative, and 6%, 8% and 10% are a labelled test range. CSI publishes neither mould volumes nor a fragrance ceiling for pillar wax. The 3–5% loss allowance is a working assumption. For stock checks, bulk quotes, GST invoicing or documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Where to buy fragrance oil for pillar candles in India?
CSI lists 93 fragrance oils (86 with stock on 24 September 2026) together with Soy Pillar Wax, pillar moulds, braided wicks, mould sealer and dyes, so the whole pillar order can come from one supplier. Bulk quotes, GST invoicing and IFRA documentation are on WhatsApp.
Is 15 g of fragrance oil enough for a pillar candle?
Not for a full-size pillar at 8%. An illustrative 250 g pillar at 8% needs 20 g, so 15 g scents 0.75 of it. Use 50 g bottles for pillar tests, or 50 g + 15 g if you want a 6/8/10% ladder (60 g).
How many pillar candles can I make with 100 g of fragrance oil?
At 8%: five illustrative 250 g pillars or 3.12 pillars of 400 g. At 6%, 6.67 of 250 g, and at 10%, four. Weigh your own mould's wax fill and divide, because mould volumes are not published.
How much wax do I need for 100 g of fragrance oil?
At 8%, 1,150 g, for 1.25 kg of finished pillars. At 6%, 1,566.67 g, and at 10%, 900 g. In Soy Pillar Wax at ₹0.60 a gram, the 8% figure is ₹690.00.
Is there a pillar candle fragrance sample kit?
CSI does not list a fragrance sample pack, discovery set or pillar fragrance kit. Its candle-making kits exist, but their fragrance contents are not published. Build your own set from 50 g bottles, and ask on WhatsApp if you would like help choosing.
Is 1 kg fragrance oil cheaper for pillar candles?
Usually not per gram. For 52 of 91 oils the 1 kg is within 1% of the 100 g per gram, and 24 show a saving of 5% or more, such as Fallen Leaves at 10.0%. Buy the kilo when your pillar sales use it. Buy 1 Kg Fragrance Oil for Pillar and Mould Candle Making goes oil by oil.

Non-price figures and assumptions: Illustrative pillars of 250 g and 400 g; oil per pillar = weight × load (20 g and 32 g at 8%); wax per 100 g of oil = 100 ÷ load − 100. CSI does not publish mould volumes or a fragrance ceiling for Soy Pillar Wax; 6%, 8% and 10% are a labelled test range. Price-break statistics compare per-gram prices of the same oil across its listed sizes (1 kg vs 100 g: 52 of 91 within ±1%, 24 with a saving of 5% or more). The 3–5% loss allowance is a working assumption. Cart totals exclude freight and any charges shown at checkout. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
