Cluster capstone · 100-candle shopping list
Plan → bill of materials → test candles → allowance stack → in-stock packs → buy now or after the tests. One template, eight columns, every line of a 100-candle order — with the dye dose left for your own trial, because CSI does not publish one.
₹31,010.42
CSI materials for 100 saleable 200 g Blue Ocean candles: ₹21,254.42 now, ₹9,756.00 after testing · excludes production dye, lids, labels, boxes · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What goes on the list? Wax, each fragrance oil, each dye shade, each wick size, stickers, jars, testing materials, a labelled buffer — and non-CSI lines kept outside the CSI total.

In what order? Per-candle BOM → test candles as whole candles → ÷ (1 − rejects) → pour loss on wax and oil → breakage on glass → spares → round to in-stock packs → split now/after.

What does the example cost? ₹21,254.42 now and ₹9,756.00 after the tests: ₹31,010.42 in CSI materials for 100 saleable candles.

What can't be filled by arithmetic? The wick size and the dye dose. CSI publishes neither a wick chart nor a dye dose per kilo — your stage-one candles decide both.
The short answer
Answer: Write the plan, compute a per-candle BOM, add test candles, apply rejects, pour loss and breakage once each, round every line to in-stock packs, and split the list into buy-now and buy-after-testing.
Why: Each material suffers different losses and comes in different packs. A single template keeps the order of operations fixed so nothing is double-counted or forgotten.
Method: Eight columns: per candle · gross requirement · pour loss · breakage · spares/samples · when to buy · pack rule · price. Copy the template.
From a 100-candle plan to one shopping list: six moves, two orders Example: 100 × 200 g · 8% Blue Ocean · CSI 464 · blue dye · White Matte jar · Eco wicks · labelled allowances 1 · PLAN 100 saleable 200 g · 8% jar · wick · dye 2 · BOM 184 g wax 16 g oil 1 jar · 1 wick dye: trial dose 3 · TESTS 6 stage-one 4 production checks whole candles 4 · STACK ÷ 0.97 → 104 +5% wax, oil +2% glass +4 wicks 5 · PACKS in-stock only cheapest cover leftover shown 6 · SPLIT now: shared after: oil, wick, dye dose BUY NOW (shared + test quantities) wax 2 × 10 kg + 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g · 12 × pack of 10 jars stickers · test oil · 2 wick samples · 15 g dye ₹21,254.42 BUY AFTER THE TESTS PASS production oil 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g winning wick · production dye at your trial dose ₹9,756.00 if Thin C1 wins (dye not included) CSI total ₹31,010.42 for 100 saleable candles. Lids, labels and boxes are your own example lines, kept outside it.
The six moves behind every 100-candle shopping list, ending in two orders: shared and test materials now, production oil, wick and dye after the tests pass. The example figures are labelled working assumptions; lids, labels and boxes stay outside the CSI total.
Straight answer
How do I turn a 100-candle production plan into an exact shopping list covering wax, fragrance oil, wicks, jars, dye, testing materials and production buffer?
Use one template with eight columns and fill it in a fixed order: per-candle bill of materials (oil = weight × load, wax = weight − oil, one jar, one wick, one sticker, dye at your trial dose) → add test candles as whole candles → divide production by (1 − reject rate) → add pour loss to wax and oil only → add breakage to glass only → add spare wicks → round every line to listed, in-stock CSI packs → split into buy now (shared and test materials) and buy after testing (production oil, the winning wick, the production dye). Filled for 100 × 200 g Blue Ocean candles at 8% in CSI 464 with 6 stage-one test candles, 4 checks, 3% rejects, 5% pour loss and 2% breakage (labelled assumptions), it is 22,024.8 g of wax (2 × 10 kg + 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g), 1,814.4 g of production oil (1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g), 117 jars and 112 production wicks: ₹21,254.42 now and ₹9,756.00 after the tests — ₹31,010.42. The dye dose and wick size come from your trials; lids, labels and boxes stay outside the CSI total.
One line: formulas on the left, decisions on the right, in-stock packs at the end — then buy in two orders.
Here is the whole method as one sheet: plan → bill of materials → test candles → allowance stack → real in-stock packs → buy now vs after testing. Filled in for 100 × 200 g Blue Ocean candles at 8% in CSI 464 with blue dye, White Matte jars and Eco wicks, it comes to ₹21,254.42 now and ₹9,756.00 after the tests pass — ₹31,010.42 in CSI materials, with lids, labels and boxes kept as your own example lines.

The copyable template

Every 100-candle shopping list in this series is the same eight columns. Copy them once and reuse them for every run.

This page closes the 50–100 candle cluster by turning everything the earlier posts worked out — loads, buffers, wick samples, test candles, combined wax, separate oils, pack rounding — into one template. It is written so you can copy it into a spreadsheet or a notebook. The left-hand columns are formulas; the right-hand columns are decisions. Fill the formulas with your figures, apply the decisions in order, and the output is a priced CSI order split into what to buy today and what to buy after your tests pass.

Copy this · W = finished candle weight · L = fragrance load (share of finished weight) · allowances are yours
The 100-candle shopping-list template
Line Per candle Gross requirement Pour loss Breakage Spares / samples When to buy Pack rule
Wax W × (1 − L) (tests + production) × wax per candle × (1 + pour loss) — — Shared → now Cheapest cover
Fragrance oil (one line per scent) W × L candles of that scent poured × oil per candle × (1 + pour loss) — — After test (if scent or load undecided) Tightest sensible cover; check bulk steps
Dye (one line per shade) your trial dose × wax per candle candles poured × dose + colour-trial allowance — — 15 g now; production after trials Smallest pack that covers the trials
Wicks (one line per size) wicks per candle candles poured × wicks per candle — — + spare wicks Samples now; production after full-life burn Net of sample leftovers
Wick stickers 1 per wick = wicks — — — Now Sheets of 40
Jars / containers 1 per candle candles poured — × (1 + breakage), glass only — Now, after a weighed test pour Pack steps (5 / 10 / 12 …)
Testing materials stage-one candles × full BOM added as whole candles × (1 + pour loss) — sample wick packs Now Small bottles, sample packs
Tools (one-off) — — — — — Now, if not owned Single items
Non-CSI lines lids, labels, boxes, courier your quotes — — — Your schedule Never in the CSI total

Three conventions hold the template together. Load is a share of the finished candle, so a 200 g candle at 8% is 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax — never 200 g of wax with oil on top. Allowances are applied once, in a fixed order: test candles as whole candles, then the reject allowance as a division on production candles, then pour loss on wax and oil only, then breakage on glass only, then rounding. Rounding uses only listed, in-stock CSI packs, and every leftover is written down. The dye line is the one line you cannot fill from arithmetic alone: CSI does not publish a dye dose per kilo of wax, so the per-candle figure comes from your own colour trial.

The CSI principle
Formulas on the left, decisions on the right, packs at the end.
If a number on your list did not come out of a formula or a written decision, it is a guess — and guesses are what turn into leftover stock.

The template filled in for 100 Blue Ocean candles

The worked example: 100 saleable candles, 200 g each, Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil at 8%, in Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (its product page states a fragrance load of up to 10%), coloured with Candle Dye Liquid Blue, poured into White Matte Glass Jars. The candle weight and load are labelled working figures; CSI does not publish the White Matte jar's fill weight, so weigh one test pour first. Stage one is 6 test candles — two Eco wick sizes, three candles each, dyed at your trial dose. Production uses this series' labelled allowances: 4 production check candles, 3% rejects, 5% pour loss, 2% glass breakage and 4 spare wicks.

Allowance stack · 100 × 200 g · 8% · stage one added separately as whole candles
Step by step to the requirement
Step Rule Result
Stage one 6 test candles (2 wicks × 3) 1,104 g wax · 96 g oil · 6 jars
0 · Net requirement 100 saleable candles × 200 g 18,400 g wax · 1,600 g oil · 100 jars · 100 wicks
1 · Test candles (whole candles) +4 candles poured to the same formula 104 candles' worth
2 · Reject allowance production candles = 100 ÷ (1 − 3%) = 103.09 → 104 108 candles poured (4 tests + 104 production)
3 · Pour loss on wax and oil only × (1 + 5%) 20,865.6 g wax · 1,814.4 g oil
4 · Breakage on glass only 108 × (1 + 2%) rounded up 111 jars
Wick spares (separate labelled allowance) 108 + 4 spare 112 wicks · 112 stickers
Wax, stage one + production (6 + 108) × 184 g × 1.05 22,024.8 g
Jars, stage one + production (6 + 108) × 1.02, up 117

Two things in that stack are worth pointing out. The 6 stage-one candles sit outside the production stack, because they are poured before the production order exists — they decide the wick and the shade, and their wax and jars are simply added to the shared lines. The 4 production check candles sit inside it, because they come from the production lot. Both are whole candles of every material, which is why the wax requirement (22,024.8 g) is well above the 18,400 g the 100 saleable candles actually hold.

If Thick C2 wins stage one instead, the production wick line becomes 1 × 100-pack + 1 × 10-pack at ₹1,038.40 and the CSI total becomes ₹31,458.82. The example non-CSI lines add ₹4,300.00 at the example prices, but they are yours to replace — CSI lists no lid for the White Matte jar, and labels, boxes and courier are outside this order. At production pack rates, one candle's CSI materials cost about ₹249.36 (wax, oil, wick and jar, excluding dye, labour, packaging and GST); the list's ₹310.10 per saleable candle is higher because it carries tests, rejects, pour loss, breakage and pack rounding.

The dye line people fill with a guess. It is tempting to write "2 g per candle" because a number looks tidy. CSI does not publish a dye dose per kilo of wax for any of its dyes, and liquid dye strength varies by shade. Fix: buy one 15 g bottle (₹236.00) now, colour your stage-one candles at two or three trial doses weighed on a 0.1 g scale, choose the shade, and only then write the production dose into the template — the custom-colour post covers colour trials in detail. Also remember the dye goes into the wax that burns, so the wick test must use dyed candles.

How to fill the template for your own run

1
Write the plan in one lineSaleable candles, finished weight, load, jar, wick candidates, scents and shades. Example: 100 × 200 g, 8%, White Matte, Eco Thin C1 / Thick C2, Blue Ocean, blue.
2
Fill the per-candle columnOil = W × L, wax = W − oil. One jar, one wick, one sticker per candle (more for multi-wick candles — CSI lists no double- or three-wick jar, but the arithmetic holds). Dye: leave blank until your trial.
3
Count test candles as whole candlesStage-one tests (wick, load, colour) and production checks. The burn-test budget post gives three programme sizes.
4
Apply rejects, then pour loss, then breakageProduction = saleable ÷ (1 − reject rate). Wax and oil × (1 + pour loss). Glass × (1 + breakage). Wicks + spares. 105 or 110 explains why each loss lands on different materials.
5
Combine shared lines; separate specific onesOne wax line for all scents at the same load; one oil line per scent; one wick line per size. Two scents and four scents show the saving.
6
Round each line to in-stock packsCheck stock first (the Eco Thin C1 10-pack and Sandalwood's small bottles are out on the 4 October re-check). Cheapest cover for shared lines; tightest sensible cover for oils, unless a bulk step makes the bigger bottle cheaper — the minimum-leftover method.
7
Split into buy now and buy afterShared and test materials now; production oil (if the scent or load is undecided), production wicks and production dye after the tests pass. Bulk or small sets out the rule.
8
Write down every leftover and order dateNext run's requirement is this run's formula minus what is on the shelf. CSI publishes no lot numbers, so the order date is your lot record.

The second run is quicker than the first. Copy the sheet, change the plan line, and subtract what is on the shelf before rounding: on this example that is 475.2 g of CSI 464, 35.6 g of Blue Ocean, 3 jars and 5 wicks, plus whatever the stage-one bottles left. Those remainders are why the template asks you to record them — they turn next month's "round up" into "top up". Once the wick, load and shade have passed, the stage-one row disappears and the production check row stays.

Sanity checks before you press order
Wax bought ÷ wax per candle ≥ candles poured × 1.05 · oil bought ÷ oil per candle ≥ the same · load ≤ the wax's stated ceiling (CSI 464: up to 10%; Chunks and CSI 468: up to 13%; Natural Soy Pearl: none published) · jars ≥ candles poured × (1 + breakage) · wicks ≥ candles poured + spares · no out-of-stock size anywhere on the list. If one material supports far fewer candles than the others, it is your limiting line — fix it before ordering.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A template that splits the order into "now" and "after" means a smaller first order from us — ₹21,254.42 today instead of ₹31,010.42. That is deliberate. The production oil, the production wicks and the production dye are the three lines that can be entirely wrong before the tests, and none of them is cheaper per unit if you buy it early: Blue Ocean is ₹4.95 a gram at 100 g and ₹4.96 at 1 kg, Eco Thin C1 is ₹5.90 a wick at every pack, and the dye dose is not yet known.

Where the cluster goes next

This template is the end of the 50–100 candle cluster and the start of the larger ones. The same eight columns run 500 wedding candles in two fragrances, a 1,000-candle procurement sheet and, at the end of the series, a complete procurement system from BOM to purchase order. If your constraint is a budget rather than a candle count, the ₹10,000 starter budget turns the same sheet around.

A shopping list is a formula you have written down. Write it once, fill it every run, and the leftovers stop surprising you.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. The template deliberately splits your order so that less is bought from us before your tests pass, and it leaves the dye dose and wick size blank where we publish no data rather than filling them with a guess.

Wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026; oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026; wicks, jars and stickers were re-checked 4 October 2026; the dye price is from the 24–25 September 2026 pull; scale, thermometer and centering device are Blog 760 figures verified 10 September 2026. Every quantity, rounding and leftover in the filled example is arithmetic you can check.

The 200 g candle, 8% load, 6 stage-one candles, 4 production checks, 3% rejects, 5% pour loss, 2% breakage, 4 spare wicks and the example lid, label and box prices are labelled working assumptions. CSI publishes no White Matte fill weight, no wick size per diameter and no dye dose per kilo. Start from the finished candles: weight × count, split into oil and wax by load, add one jar, wick and sticker per candle, add test candles, rejects, pour loss and breakage, then round each line to real packs.
How much wax do I need for 100 candles?
For 200 g candles at 8%, 18,400 g net; with 6 stage-one tests, 4 checks, 3% rejects and 5% pour loss, 22,024.8 g.
How much fragrance oil for 100 candles?
For 200 g at 8%, 1,600 g net; with allowances 1,814.4 g for production plus 100.8 g for stage-one tests.
How much candle dye do I need?
CSI does not publish a dye dose per kilo of wax. Buy a 15 g bottle, run colour trials at two or three weighed doses, then multiply your chosen dose by the production wax.
Should I include testing materials in my candle order?
Yes, as their own line: stage-one candles are whole candles of every material, plus sample wick packs and small oil and dye bottles.
Should lids, labels and boxes go in the raw-material budget?
Keep them on the list as separate lines with your own quotes, but outside the raw-material total, so you can compare suppliers like for like.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on the product pages named on each card — Eco Candle Wicks, Premium Candle Wicking Needle and Bamboo Wick Holder. They are general product reviews, not assessments of the guidance set out here. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me and wording is unedited. "Verified buyer" appears only on the three reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Monika Deep, Subhankar Roy and Sneha Tamang; the reviews from Ashwini, LJ and Lalitha Jagan are published but not recorded as verified, and carry no badge.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of the finished candle (oil = W × L; 200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax). The 200 g candle, 8% load, 6 stage-one candles, 4 production checks, 3% rejects, 5% pour loss, 2% glass breakage, 4 spare wicks and the example lid (₹15.00), label (₹8.00) and box (₹20.00) prices are labelled working assumptions. CSI publishes no dye dose per kilo of wax, no lid for the White Matte jar and no double- or three-wick jar. What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — fragrance load up to 13%, melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C; Natural Soy Pearl — no fragrance ceiling, temperatures or shelf life published. CSI publishes no jar internal diameters or fill weights (except the Golden Aluminium Tin's 85 g and the Heart Cutout Velvet Jar's 50 g), no wick-size-per-diameter chart, no throw, burn or cure data for any oil or wax, and no volume discount beyond the listed packs. Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
