500–1,000 Candle Orders · SKU split
Convert the percentages into candles — 400, 300, 200, 100 — then give each SKU its own test candles, rejects and pour loss, and round each oil to its own bottles. A percentage of a pooled total looks fair and short-changes the smallest SKU.
₹97,447.56
of fragrance oil across four SKUs · 17,397.4 g · 200 g at 8% example, labelled allowances · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How many candles per SKU? 400 lavender, 300 vanilla, 200 coffee, 100 oud. Convert before any other step.

How much oil per SKU? At 200 g and 8% with allowances: Lavender 6,897.8 g, Vanilla Bean 5,198.8 g, Roasted Coffee 3,499.9 g, Woody Oud 1,800.9 g.

Why not 40/30/20/10 of the total oil? Fixed allowances (6 test candles per SKU) weigh more on small SKUs. A 10% share of the pooled figure leaves oud 61.2 g short.

What does it cost? ₹97,447.56 of oil; ₹1,92,000.36 with Soy Pearl wax, wicks and stickers. See the priced order.
The short answer
Answer: Convert 40/30/20/10 of 1,000 to 400/300/200/100 candles, then oil per SKU = candles × 16 g (200 g at 8%) + that SKU's tests, rejects and pour loss, rounded to its bottles: ₹97,447.56 in all.
Why: Allowances attach to candles, and test candles are fixed per SKU, so small SKUs need more oil per saleable candle than their percentage suggests.
Method: Split → candle counts → per-SKU stack → per-oil rounding → test bottles now, balances after the split is confirmed → shared wax summed once. Per-fragrance method.
1,000 candles split 40 / 30 / 20 / 10: from percentages to oil per SKU Each square = 10 candles · 200 g at 8% (16 g oil) · 6 test candles per SKU · 3% rejects · 3% pour loss SKU Candles Oil to buy Oil per saleable Lavender 400 (40%) 6,900 g 17.24 g Vanilla Bean 300 (30%) 5,200 g 17.33 g Roasted Coffee 200 (20%) 3,500 g 17.50 g Woody Oud 100 (10%) 1,850 g 18.01 g The 10% SKU carries the same 6 test candles as the 40% SKU, so its oil per saleable candle is highest: percentages of a pooled total under-buy it. Convert % → candles → each SKU's own stack → each oil's own bottles. Oil in all: 17,397 g · ₹97,447.56.
The 40/30/20/10 split as 100 squares of ten candles, with each SKU's oil to buy and its oil per saleable candle. The smallest SKU needs the most oil per saleable candle because its six test candles are a larger share of its run. 200 g at 8% and the allowances are labelled examples.
Straight answer
I have 1,000 candles split 40% lavender, 30% vanilla, 20% coffee and 10% oud — how do I calculate fragrance purchasing for each SKU?
Turn the split into candle counts — 400, 300, 200, 100 — and calculate each SKU's oil on its own. Oil per SKU = its candles × oil per candle, plus its own test candles, ÷ (1 − rejects), × (1 + pour loss), rounded to that oil's own in-stock bottles. With a labelled example of 200 g at 8% (16 g of oil), 6 test candles per SKU, 3% rejects and 3% pour loss: Lavender 6,897.8 g (6 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 4 × 100 g), Vanilla Bean 5,198.8 g (5 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g), Roasted Coffee 3,499.9 g (3 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g) and Woody Oud 1,800.9 g (1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g) — ₹97,447.56. Do not take 40/30/20/10 of one pooled oil figure: fixed test candles make the 10% oud SKU need more oil per candle, and the pooled split leaves it 61.2 g short. Regal Royal Oud was out of stock on 4 October; Woody Oud is listed.
One line: split by candles, calculate by SKU, round by oil.
Turn the percentages into candle counts first — 400, 300, 200 and 100 — then give each SKU its own oil calculation. For 200 g candles at 8% with 6 test candles per SKU, 3% rejects and 3% pour loss: Lavender 6,897.8 g, Vanilla Bean 5,198.8 g, Roasted Coffee 3,499.9 g, Woody Oud 1,800.9 g — ₹97,447.56 in four separate oil orders. The shared wax is 200.07 kg of Natural Soy Pearl.
Shop fragrance oils

Step one: percentages become candles

Percentages describe the order. Candle counts are what you pour, test and reject — so they are what you buy oil for.

A 40 / 30 / 20 / 10 split of 1,000 candles is 400 lavender, 300 vanilla, 200 coffee and 100 oud. Write those four numbers down before anything else, because every allowance in a fragrance order attaches to candles, not to percentages. Each SKU needs its own test candles to prove its wick (a fragrance can change how a melt pool behaves), its own reject allowance, and its own pour loss. The title gives no candle weight or load, so this page uses a labelled example of 200 g at a working 8% — 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax per candle at CSI's finished-weight convention.

200 g at 8% (example) · 6 test candles per SKU · 3% rejects · 3% pour loss · labelled working assumptions
Fragrance purchasing per SKU
SKU Share Candles Net oil With allowances Cheapest in-stock bottles Price Leftover (overbuy)
Lavender 40% 400 6,400 g 6,897.8 g 6 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 4 × 100 g ₹36,106.00 2.2 g (0.03%)
Vanilla Bean 30% 300 4,800 g 5,198.8 g 5 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g ₹39,810.00 1.2 g (0.02%)
Roasted Coffee 20% 200 3,200 g 3,499.9 g 3 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g ₹13,104.00 0.1 g (0.00%)
Woody Oud 10% 100 1,600 g 1,800.9 g 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g ₹8,427.56 49.1 g (2.73%)
Total 100% 1,000 16,000 g 17,397.4 g four orders ₹97,447.56 52.6 g

Three of the four oils round almost exactly — Lavender, Vanilla Bean and Roasted Coffee land within a few grams of need because their listed sizes happen to fit. Woody Oud, the smallest SKU, overbuys most in proportion: 49.1 g on 1,800.9 g, because a small need has less room to absorb a pack step. That pattern is general: the smaller the SKU, the bigger the rounding as a share of its need.

Why a percentage of the total under-buys the small SKU

The tempting shortcut is to calculate one oil figure for the whole 1,000 — 17,397.4 g with 24 test candles, 3% rejects and 3% pour loss — and hand out 40%, 30%, 20% and 10% of it. It looks fair. It is not, because the test candles are a fixed six per SKU, not a percentage of each SKU. The 100-candle oud SKU carries the same six test candles as the 400-candle lavender SKU, so its oil per saleable candle is higher, and a 10% share of the pooled figure leaves it short.

Same allowances both ways · the gap is the error of splitting a pooled figure by percentage
Per-SKU calculation versus percentage of a pooled total
SKU Per-SKU need Share of pooled Gap Effect Oil bought per saleable candle
Lavender 6,897.8 g 6,959.0 g +61.2 g Over-bought 17.24 g
Vanilla Bean 5,198.8 g 5,219.2 g +20.4 g Over-bought 17.33 g
Roasted Coffee 3,499.9 g 3,479.5 g −20.4 g Short 17.50 g
Woody Oud 1,800.9 g 1,739.7 g −61.2 g Short 18.01 g

The oud SKU comes up 61.2 g short — about 3.7 candles of oil — while lavender is over-bought by 61.2 g. On a real order that is the difference between finishing the oud run and stopping three candles short with lavender oil you cannot use. And the gap grows if the small SKU is also the new or difficult fragrance with more test candles. Per-SKU stacks get it right automatically.

The mistake: "10% of the oil for the 10% SKU." Fixed allowances — test candles, a minimum bottle, a wick trial — do not scale with the share. Fix: convert the split into candle counts, run each SKU's own allowance stack, round each oil to its own bottles. The four-fragrance corporate post walks the same per-fragrance method with an uneven split given as candle counts.

Each SKU's own bill of materials and cost

"Fragrance purchasing for each SKU" usually comes with a second question: what does each SKU cost to make? The oil is the only line that differs between these four SKUs — they share a wax, a wick type and (here) a jar you supply — so the per-candle material cost differs by the oil alone. The table uses the price actually paid per gram for each oil's bottle mix, the shared wax at its 10 kg rate and a ₹5.90 Thin C1 wick; your jar, lid, label and box are extra.

Per saleable candle, before allowances · oil at the rate paid · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026 · wax CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026
Per-SKU BOM and material cost (excluding your jar and packaging)

Lavender 184 g 16 g 1 Thin C1 ₹5.23 ₹167.79
Vanilla Bean 184 g 16 g 1 Thin C1 ₹7.66 ₹206.56
Roasted Coffee 184 g 16 g 1 Thin C1 ₹3.74 ₹143.97
Woody Oud 184 g 16 g 1 Thin C1 ₹4.56 ₹156.95

Vanilla Bean is the dearest SKU to make and Roasted Coffee the cheapest — a ₹62.59 spread per candle from the oil alone. If the 1,000 candles sell at one price, the split is a margin decision as much as a scent decision: moving 50 candles from vanilla to coffee changes the material bill by ₹3,129.42. That is information for the client conversation, not a reason to steer the split.

If the client asks for “royal oud”
On CSI's 4 October 2026 check, Regal Royal Oud was out of stock in every size (100 g, 500 g and 1 kg). The oud in this example is Woody Oud, which is listed and in stock at ₹4.53 a gram from 100 g. It is a different oil, not an equivalent: if the client named a specific oud, send a Woody Oud sample for approval rather than substituting silently. White Royal Oud (₹8.10 a gram) is another listed oud to sample.

When the split moves after you have bought

Splits move. Clients rebalance after a sample, and the oil you bought for one SKU cannot be poured into another.

Suppose the client changes 40 / 30 / 20 / 10 to 35 / 35 / 20 / 10 after seeing samples. Lavender drops to 350 candles and Vanilla Bean rises to 350. The coffee and oud orders are untouched; the two that moved are recalculated from their new counts. If the oils were already bought in full, the lavender order now has a surplus and the vanilla order a shortfall — and neither fixes the other.

Same allowances · each SKU recalculated from its new candle count

The practical protection is the same buy-now / buy-after split this cluster uses everywhere: buy a test bottle of each oil for the per-SKU trial and the client samples, get the split confirmed in writing, then order each SKU's balance from its confirmed candle count. The new-fragrance approval post covers when that wait is worth it, and the 500-favour hub shows the two-stage purchase priced end to end.

1
Confirm the split as candle countsIn writing, with the client, before ordering any oil balance.
2
Buy one test bottle per SKU100 g of each covers six test candles (98.9 g of oil with pour loss) plus a sample.
3

The CSI principle
Split by candles, calculate by SKU, round by oil.
Percentages are how the client describes the order; candle counts are what every allowance attaches to; each oil is bought in its own bottles.

The priced order

The shared wax is the sum of the four SKUs' wax requirements: 200.07 kg. Natural Soy Pearl Wax is the example wax because it is CSI's only soy wax with a real bulk break (₹450.00 a kilo at 1 kg, ₹424.80 from 5 kg); its page publishes no fragrance ceiling, so 8% is a tested starting point rather than a figure inside a stated limit. The 50 kg bag is the same rate as the 10 kg — 4 × 50 kg + 1 × 1 kg and 20 × 10 kg + 1 × 1 kg both cost ₹85,410.00 — and is in limited stock, so confirm on WhatsApp.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. It would suit us if you bought each SKU's oil in 1 kg bottles "to be safe". For Woody Oud that is ₹9,062.40 for two kilos against ₹8,427.56 for the 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g the SKU needs — Woody Oud is ₹4.53 a gram from 100 g to 1 kg, so the smaller bottles cost nothing extra. Buy each SKU to its own need.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. The page tells you not to buy every SKU's oil in 1 kg bottles when smaller bottles cost the same per gram, and names the oud that was out of stock instead of hiding it.

Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Soy-wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Wick and sticker prices were re-checked 4 October 2026. Candle counts, per-SKU stacks, the pooled comparison, per-SKU costs and the split-shift table are arithmetic, shown so you can check them.

The 200 g fill, 8% load, 6 test candles per SKU, 3% rejects, 3% pour loss, 2% breakage and the 35/35/20/10 shift are labelled working assumptions or examples. Frequently asked questions

How do I split fragrance oil by percentage for a candle order?
Don't split the oil — split the candles. Convert each percentage to a candle count, then calculate each SKU's oil from its own count and allowances.
How much lavender oil for 400 candles?
At 200 g and 8%, 6,400 g net (400 × 16 g); 6,897.8 g with 6 test candles, 3% rejects and 3% pour loss.
Why does my smallest fragrance SKU run out of oil first?
Fixed allowances — test candles, a minimum bottle — are a bigger share of a small run. Calculate each SKU's own stack rather than a percentage of a pooled total.
What is the cost per candle for each fragrance SKU?
Wax, oil and wick only, at this page's prices: Lavender ₹167.79, Vanilla Bean ₹206.56, Roasted Coffee ₹143.97, Woody Oud ₹156.95. Jars and packaging are extra.
Is Regal Royal Oud fragrance oil available?
On CSI's 4 October 2026 check it was out of stock in every size. Woody Oud and White Royal Oud are listed and in stock — different oils, so sample before substituting.
What if the client changes the split after I buy the oil?
Each SKU's oil cannot cover another's. Buy a test bottle of each first and order each SKU's balance only after the split is confirmed in writing.
Candles, then oil
Convert the split to candles, give every SKU its own stack, and buy every oil to its own need.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of finished candle weight (200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax). What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — fragrance load up to 13%, melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C; Natural Soy Pearl — no fragrance ceiling, temperatures or shelf life published. The 200 g fill, 8% load, 6 test candles per SKU, 3% rejects, 3% pour loss, 2% breakage and the 35/35/20/10 shift are labelled working assumptions or examples. Stock status is as re-checked on 4 October 2026 (a stock-out, not a discontinuation). CSI publishes no stock unit counts, wick-size charts or throw data. Costs exclude labour, jars, packaging, freight and GST.
