500–1,000 Candle Orders · Mixture
Finished mixture is wax and oil together, as poured. For 1,000 candles of 150 g it is 150 kg net, whatever the load. Add test candles and rejects to get the mixture before the loss allowance, then pour loss, then split by the load — in that order.
154.29 kg
of finished mixture before the production-loss allowance · 1,000 × 150 g + 8 test candles + 2% rejects · labelled working assumptions
Quick answers — read this first
How much finished mixture? 150 kg net (1,000 × 150 g). With 8 test candles and 2% rejects, 154.29 kg before the loss allowance.

And with the loss allowance? 158.91 kg at 3%, 160.46 kg at 4%, 162.00 kg at 5% — loss applies to wax and oil only.

How does that split at 8%? 147.62 kg wax + 12.84 kg oil at 4% loss. At 10% the same mixture is 144.41 kg + 16.05 kg.

What does it cost in CSI packs? ₹1,47,692.20 for CSI 464, Blue Ocean, wicks and stickers — jars are yours. See the priced list.
The short answer
Answer: 1,000 × 150 g = 150 kg of finished mixture; 154.29 kg after 8 test candles and 2% rejects, before the loss allowance; 160.46 kg with 4% pour loss.
Why: Mixture is fixed by the fill weight and the count. The load only divides it: oil = mixture × L, wax = the rest.
Method: Net mixture → tests → rejects → (the title's figure) → pour loss → split by load → melt batches → round to packs. Put it on a procurement sheet.
1,000 × 150 g: the finished mixture, before and after the loss allowance Mixture = wax + oil as poured · 8 test candles · 2% rejects · 4% pour loss · melt batch of 10 kg is an example 150.0 kg Net order 151.2 kg + 8 tests 154.3 kg ÷ 0.98 rejects 160.5 kg × 1.04 loss (the title's answer) 17 melts of ≤ 10 kg Each: 9,200 g wax + 800 g oil = 66 candles of 150 g per full melt Last melt: 0.46 kg Before loss: 154.29 kg of mixture. The wax/oil split inside it changes with the load; the mixture does not.
The finished mixture for 1,000 × 150 g at each stage, drawn to scale, and the same mixture as 10 kg melt batches (an example batch size — weigh your own). The shaded third bar is the mixture before the production-loss allowance; the black bar includes 4% pour loss. Allowances are labelled working assumptions.
Straight answer
I have a 1,000-piece candle order with a 150 g fill weight — how much finished candle mixture do I need before adding a production-loss allowance?
154.29 kg of finished mixture — wax and oil together — before the production-loss allowance. The net order is 1,000 × 150 g = 150 kg; eight test candles (a labelled working figure) add 1.2 kg, and a 2% reject allowance (an example) divides by 0.98. Pour loss is then applied to that mixture: 158.91 kg at 3%, 160.46 kg at 4%, 162.00 kg at 5%. Only after that does the load split it — at 8% and 4% loss, 147.62 kg of wax and 12.84 kg of oil, or CSI 464 14 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg + 3 × 1 kg and Blue Ocean 12 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g. A 10% load is only inside a published ceiling in CSI 464 (at its 10% limit), Chunks or CSI 468 (13%). As melts, it is 17 batches of up to 10 kg (an example batch size).
One line: 150 kg net, plus tests and rejects, is the mixture before loss — then add loss, then split by the load.
1,000 candles × 150 g = 150 kg of finished mixture. With 8 test candles and a 2% reject allowance it is 154.29 kg before any production-loss allowance, and 160.46 kg with 4% pour loss. At 8% that is 147.62 kg of wax and 12.84 kg of oil: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 14 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg + 3 × 1 kg (₹75,095.20) and Blue Ocean 12 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g (₹63,682.00). Start with the wax: CSI 464 at ₹5,074.00 per 10 kg.

Finished mixture: the number to calculate first

Before you split anything into wax and oil, there is one number that does not depend on the formula: how much liquid candle you will pour.

"Finished candle mixture" is the wax and fragrance oil together, as they leave the jug — the thing a jar is filled with. For a 150 g fill weight it is simply 150 g per candle, whatever the load, because the load decides only how that 150 g divides between wax and oil. So 1,000 candles are 150,000 g = 150 kg of mixture net. That is the figure the production plan, the melt schedule and the pour-loss allowance are all applied to, and it is why it pays to calculate it first and split it last.

"Before adding a production-loss allowance" still means after the allowances that are not loss. Test candles are candles, not loss: eight of them (a labelled working figure for a wick trial and throw checks) add 1,200 g. Rejects are candles that are poured and then fail; the 2% example allowance divides by 0.98 so that 1,000 survive. That gives 154.29 kg of mixture before the loss allowance. Pour loss — what sticks to the melter, jug and funnel — is the last allowance on wax and oil, and it is a percentage of everything melted, tests and rejects included.

1,000 × 150 g · allowances are labelled working assumptions · loss shown at three example rates
Finished mixture at each stage
Stage What is added Mixture Change
Net order 1,000 × 150 g 150,000 g —
+ test candles 8 × 150 g 151,200 g +1,200 g
÷ (1 − rejects) 2% example 154,285.7 g +3,085.7 g
× (1 + 3%) pour loss wax and oil only 158,914.3 g +4,628.6 g
× (1 + 4%) pour loss wax and oil only 160,457.1 g +6,171.4 g
× (1 + 5%) pour loss wax and oil only 162,000.0 g +7,714.3 g

Two mistakes show up in that table. The first is applying the loss percentage to the net order only: 150 kg × 1.04 = 156 kg, which is 4.46 kg short because it forgot that test and reject candles are melted too. The second is adding the loss percentage before the rejects, or adding both to the already-rounded pack quantities, which counts slack twice. The order — tests, rejects, loss, then round — is the same on every page of this cluster; the procurement-sheet post lays it out as columns.

Splitting the mixture into wax and oil — and what changes with the load

Only now does the formula enter. At CSI's convention the load is a share of the finished mixture, so the oil is mixture × load and the wax is the rest. The mixture total does not move when the load does: a 10% candle and a 6% candle of 150 g both weigh 150 g. What moves is the split — and the bill, because oil costs far more per gram than wax.

Read the 10% row carefully. It is allowed in CSI 464 only because CSI 464's page states a maximum of 10% — so 10% is at its ceiling, not below it, which leaves no headroom if a weighing drifts. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 468 both state 13%, so 10% sits inside their limit with room to spare. Natural Soy Pearl's page publishes no fragrance ceiling, so for it any load is a tested starting point, not a figure inside a stated limit. None of these ceilings is a target or an optimum, and none is regulatory.

Each two points of load, in rupees per candle
Moving from 8% to 10% in a 150 g candle swaps 3 g of wax for 3 g of oil. With CSI 464 at ₹0.51 a gram and Blue Ocean at ₹4.96, that adds ₹13.35 to every candle — ₹13,345.80 across 1,000. Per candle (wax + oil only): ₹116.15 at 6%, ₹129.49 at 8%, ₹142.84 at 10% in CSI 464. The 10% post deals with having that much oil on hand before production starts.
The mistake: calculating the oil from the wax. "I need 138 kg of wax, so 8% of that is the oil" gives 11.04 kg instead of 12 kg net — a true load of 7.41%, and a candle that is short of oil. Fix: work from the mixture. Oil = mixture × load; wax = mixture − oil. If your recipe is written per kilo of wax, convert with oil = wax × L ÷ (1 − L) — 86.96 g per kilo of wax at 8%.

Turning the mixture into melt batches

A melter does not know about wax and oil separately. It knows kilograms of liquid candle.

Mixture is also the unit your melter works in. CSI lists an Electric Wax Melter in 10 kg and 20 kg capacities (₹21,240.00 and ₹25,960.00) and a 1-litre mini melter (₹2,360.00). Melt throughput is not published, and whether a capacity refers to solid wax or molten volume is worth checking on the product page or on WhatsApp — so treat the 10 kg batch below as an example and replace it with the batch you have actually weighed.

Example batch of 10 kg mixture at 8% · replace with your own measured batch
The batch sheet for one melt
Line Per 10 kg batch Note
Wax 9,200 g Weigh into the melter
Fragrance oil 800 g Weigh separately; add per the wax maker's instructions
Candles of 150 g 66 full candles 100 g left in the jug per melt, before loss
Melts for the order 17 16 full + 1 of 0.46 kg
Wax across all melts 147.62 kg Matches the purchase quantity
Oil across all melts 12.84 kg Matches the purchase quantity

The batch sheet does two jobs. It tells your team exactly what to weigh for every melt — 9,200 g of CSI 464 and 800 g of Blue Ocean — so the load cannot drift from batch to batch. And it is the bridge between the purchase and the floor: 17 melts × the batch wax equals the wax you bought, give or take the last partial melt. If your real batch is smaller, the number of melts rises and so, usually, does pour loss, because each melt leaves something in the vessel. That is why the loss allowance is applied to the mixture, not the candles.

The priced order for 1,000 × 150 g

With the mixture fixed at 160.46 kg and the load at 8%, the order follows. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is priced flat at ₹507.40 a kilo from 1 kg to 10 kg, so the cover for 147.62 kg is 14 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg + 3 × 1 kg for ₹75,095.20. Blue Ocean is one of the oils whose per-gram price barely moves — ₹4.94 at 50 g, ₹4.95 at 100 g and ₹4.96 at 500 g and 1 kg — so the cheapest cover for 12.84 kg is 12 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g for ₹63,682.00. On CSI's listing, a bigger bottle mostly buys fewer bottles; volume pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp and no discount figure is published.

Jars sit outside the CSI subtotal on this page because the question is about mixture, not containers. If you want a CSI jar for a 150 g fill, the 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar with golden lug cap is the practical candidate — but its fill weight is not published, so weigh a 150 g test pour first. The CSI principle
Calculate the mixture first, split it last.
The mixture is fixed by the order and the allowances; the load only decides how it divides. Plan melts, loss and purchase from the mixture and the formula can change without the plan breaking.
Planning a 1,000-piece run? Send us your fill weight, load, wax and oil on WhatsApp and we will check the mixture, the split and the pack counts with you. Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A higher fragrance load sells more oil. This page shows the mixture is the same at every load, prices the extra oil at 10%, and tells you to raise the load only if your own trial says so.

Soy-wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Wick and sticker prices were re-checked 4 October 2026; melter prices are from the 3001–3100 catalogue pull. Mixture stages, splits, melt counts and pack rounding are arithmetic, shown so you can check them.

The 8 test candles, 2% rejects, the 3–5% loss range, the 10 kg batch and every non-CSI cost are labelled working assumptions or examples. CSI publishes no melter throughput, no wick-size charts and no throw data. Load ceilings are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits or targets. Frequently asked questions

What is finished candle mixture?
Wax and fragrance oil together, as poured into the jar. For a 150 g fill it is 150 g per candle at any load; the load decides only how it divides.
How much wax and fragrance for 1,000 candles of 150 g?
At 8%, 138 kg of wax and 12 kg of oil net. With 8 test candles, 2% rejects and 4% pour loss, 147.62 kg and 12.84 kg.
Should pour loss be added before or after rejects?
After. Add test candles, then the reject allowance, then pour loss on wax and oil, then round to packs. Pour loss applies to everything you melt, including test and reject candles.
Can I use 10% fragrance in CSI 464?
CSI 464's page states a maximum of 10%, so 10% is at its ceiling with no headroom. Chunks and CSI 468 state 13%. Soy Pearl publishes no ceiling.
How many melts for 1,000 candles?
It depends on your measured batch. With an example 10 kg batch, 160.46 kg of mixture is 17 melts. CSI publishes no melter throughput — time your own.
How do I convert a per-kilo-of-wax recipe to finished-weight load?
Oil = wax × L ÷ (1 − L). At 8%, that is 86.96 g of oil per kilo of wax; 80 g per kilo of wax is a true load of 7.41%.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of finished candle weight (150 g at 8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax); oil written as a share of wax converts with oil = wax × L ÷ (1 − L). What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — fragrance load up to 13%, melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C; Natural Soy Pearl — no fragrance ceiling, temperatures or shelf life published. The 8 test candles, 2% rejects, 3–5% pour loss, 2% breakage, the 10 kg melt batch and every non-CSI cost are labelled working assumptions or examples. CSI publishes no melter throughput, no wick-size charts and no throw data. Costs exclude labour, jars, packaging, freight and GST.
