I Need 500 × 250 g Candles in 30 Days — How Do I Convert the Order into Wax, Fragrance, Wick and Jar Purchase Quantities?
शेयर करना
How many wicks and jars? 528 wicks (12 from trial packs, 516 for production) and 539 jars including 2% breakage.
What do I buy today? Wax, oil, trial wicks, stickers, centering devices and jars: ₹1,34,711.80 of CSI materials. Only the production wicks (₹4,908.80) wait until day 10.
Does it fit before Diwali? On the example durations, yes: last pour Sat 24 Oct, seven-day cure, dispatch Tue 3 Nov, Diwali Sun 8 Nov. See the calendar.
Converting the order into purchase quantities
Start with the conversion, because every date later depends on it. At a working 8% load each 250 g candle is 20 g of oil and 230 g of wax (CSI's convention: the load is a share of the finished candle). Five hundred of them are 125 kg of finished candle — 115 kg of wax and 10 kg of oil net. A tight deadline does not change the formula; it changes how much slack you can afford to leave out of the purchase, because a shortfall on day 20 cannot be fixed by day 30.
So the allowances here are a little more generous than a relaxed order would use, and each is a labelled working assumption to replace with your own: 12 whole trial candles (two wick candidates × three candles × two rounds of checks), a 3% reject allowance, 4% pour loss on wax and oil, and 2% breakage on glass. They are applied in that order, once each, and only then rounded to real packs.
| Step | Allowance | Mixture | Wax | Oil | Jars | Wicks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 · Net order | 500 × 250 g | 125,000 g | 115,000.0 g | 10,000.0 g | 500 | 500 |
| 1 · Test candles | + 12 whole candles | 128,000 g | 117,760.0 g | 10,240.0 g | 512 | 512 |
| 2 · Rejects | ÷ (1 − 3%) | 131,958.8 g | 121,402.1 g | 10,556.7 g | 527.84 → 528 | 528 |
| 3 · Pour loss | × (1 + 4%) — wax and oil only | 137,237.1 g | 126,258.1 g | 10,979.0 g | not applied | not applied |
| 4 · Breakage | × (1 + 2%) — glass only | — | — | — | 539 | not applied |
The purchase quantities are therefore 126.26 kg of wax, 10.98 kg of oil, 528 wicks and stickers and 539 jars. A 250 g candle is a large one; there is no CSI jar with a published 250 g fill (CSI publishes fills only for the 85 g Golden Aluminium Tin and the 50 g Heart Cutout Velvet Jar), so the jar here is yours — and the jar count is the one line in this order that has to be right on day 0, because glass is the slowest material to replace in a hurry. The 2% breakage post sizes the glass buffer more carefully.
The purchase calendar, dated from today
Today is Sunday 4 October 2026; day 30 is Tuesday 3 November; Diwali is Sunday 8 November. The calendar below works forward from today and backward from dispatch at the same time. Two figures in it are CSI's own: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks' page states a cure of at least 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks, and the wick has to pass before you buy 500 of it. Everything else — when materials reach you, how many candles your team pours a day, how long packing takes — is an example. CSI publishes no delivery times, so ask for a dispatch date on WhatsApp when you order and shift the whole calendar if it moves.
| Day | Date | Milestone | What it needs / what you buy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | Sun 4 Oct | Stage-1 order | Wax, oil, trial wicks, stickers; jars from your supplier |
| 5 | Fri 9 Oct | Materials in hand (example) | Confirm dispatch with CSI; shift every row if it moves |
| 5–7 | Fri 9 Oct – Sun 11 Oct | Trial pour + 48 h cure | 12 candles · Chunks page: cure at least 48 hours |
| 7–10 | Sun 11 Oct – Wed 14 Oct | Burn cycles 1–3 | One 3–4 h cycle a day, both wicks side by side |
| 10–15 | Wed 14 Oct – Mon 19 Oct | Stage-2 wick order → arrival | Production wicks for the winner (arrival is an example) |
| 15–20 | Mon 19 Oct – Sat 24 Oct | Production pours | 516 candles at an example 100 a day |
| 20–27 | Sat 24 Oct – Sat 31 Oct | Cure (7 days after the last pour) | Chunks page: ideally one to two weeks |
| 28–29 | Sun 1 Nov – Mon 2 Nov | QC, labels, pack | Reject check against the trial candle |
| 30 | Tue 3 Nov | Dispatch — day 30 | Tuesday 3 November |
| 35 | Sun 8 Nov | Diwali | Five days of margin between dispatch and the festival |
Read the critical path from the bottom up. Dispatch on day 30 needs packing done by day 29. Packing needs the last candle cured, and seven days after the last pour (inside the page's "ideally one to two weeks") puts the last pour on day 20, Sat 24 Oct. At an example 100 candles a day, 516 production candles take 6 pouring days, so production starts on day 15. Production needs the production wicks in hand on day 15, and the wick order needs a trial result on day 10. Day 10 needs three burn cycles, which need a 48-hour cure, which needs trial candles poured on day 5. Every material except the production wicks has to be in your workshop by day 5.
The day-0 purchase and the one that waits
The wax is Luxury Soy Wax Chunks. It is used here because its page gives a stated cure guideline you can plan a calendar around (at least 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks) and a 13% fragrance ceiling that leaves headroom above 8% — not because it throws better than CSI's other waxes, which we do not publish data to claim. At 126.26 kg the cheapest listed cover is 25 × 5 kg + 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g for ₹75,773.00: Chunks cost ₹599.00 a kilo in 5 kg bags against ₹599.90 in the 10 kg bag, so 5 kg bags win. An order of this size is also worth a WhatsApp message — CSI's listed bags stop at 10 kg, larger quantities are quoted, and no discount figure is published.
The oil is Saffron Cedarwood, a festive choice for a Diwali order — and one with an unusual price shape. Its 500 g bottle is ₹2,584.20 (₹5.17 a gram) while its 1 kg bottle is ₹6,867.60 (₹6.87 a gram). So the cheapest cover for 10.98 kg is 22 × 500 g for ₹56,852.40, which is ₹18,691.20 less than 11 × 1 kg. That is the opposite of what most buyers assume about bigger bottles; on CSI's listing, always compute. CSI does not publish stock unit counts, so for 22 bottles of one oil ask on WhatsApp before you rely on the calendar.
| Item | Need | Packs | Price | Leftover | When |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luxury Soy Wax Chunks | 126.26 kg | 25 × 5 kg + 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g | ₹75,773.00 | 242 g · ₹144.87 | Day 0 |
| Saffron Cedarwood Fragrance Oil | 10.98 kg | 22 × 500 g | ₹56,852.40 | 21 g · ₹108.70 | Day 0 |
| Eco Thick C2 + Cotton Braided — trial | 12 candles | 10 + 10 | ₹214.40 | 8 spares | Day 0 |
| Wick stickers | 528 | 14 × 40 | ₹1,400.00 | 32 stickers | Day 0 |
| Wick Centering Device | 20 for a pour session | 4 × 5 | ₹472.00 | Reusable | Day 0 |
| Production wicks (Thick C2 shown) | 516 | 1 × 500 + 1 × 20 | ₹4,908.80 | 4 wicks | Day 10 |
| CSI subtotal | ₹1,39,620.60 | ₹279.24 per candle | |||
| If Cotton Braided wins | 1 × 500 + 2 × 10 | + ₹1,331.20 | Total ₹1,40,951.80 | ||
| Jars — your 250 g jar (not CSI) | 539 | your supplier | example: your quote | Day 0 |
The jar line is outside the CSI subtotal because it is your jar. If you would rather use a CSI jar, the White Matte Glass Jar is the obvious candidate, but its fill weight is not published: pour one to the line, weigh it, and only if it holds 250 g order 54 × pack of 10 for ₹38,232.00. Lids, labels, boxes and courier are also your own quotes and stay out of the CSI total.
The five-day wick trial that releases the wick order
A 250 g candle burns for many hours, so a full-life test cannot finish before the wick order has to go in. The working compromise used here: decide the wick after three clean burn cycles, and keep one candle of the winner burning to the end in parallel with production, so a late-life fault is caught before dispatch. That is a labelled working practice, not a standard, and it carries a risk you should name to the client if the order is large. The sample-wick-sizes post covers how many candidates to trial.
The second round of six trial candles is your safety net: if both wicks fail the first three cycles, you still have trial candles to re-pour with a different size without waiting for fresh wax or oil. That is why the trial count is 12 rather than 6, and it is the cheapest insurance on this page — 1,500 g of finished candle.
What can break the 30 days, and what to hold back for it
| Risk | Effect on the calendar | Material response | Cost to hold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Materials arrive later than day 5 | Every row moves; cure is squeezed | Confirm dispatch on WhatsApp before ordering | None |
| Both trial wicks fail | Wick order slips by days | Second-round trial candles already poured | 1,500 g of candle |
| Breakage on arrival | Short of jars at the pour | 2% breakage allowance in the jar count | 11 jars |
| Rejects above 3% | Short of saleable candles | Leftover wax and oil cover remakes | 242 g wax · 21 g oil |
| Pour rate below 100 a day | Last pour later, cure shortened | Start earlier or add a melter | Your labour |
| Client changes fragrance | Oil order wasted | Approve the fragrance in writing before day 0 | Up to ₹56,852.40 |
The leftover wax and oil from pack rounding — 242 g of Chunks and 21 g of Saffron Cedarwood — are a small remake reserve already paid for: enough for about 1 extra candles. The 20-day emergency-remake post sizes a deliberate remake reserve for an even tighter deadline, and the 500-favour hub shows the buy-after-approval version of this order when the client has not yet signed off the fragrance.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A deadline makes it tempting to buy everything at once, including 500 of two different wicks. This page holds the production wicks back until your trial decides, and tells you when the oil is cheaper in smaller bottles.
Soy-wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of finished candle weight (250 g at 8% = 20 g oil + 230 g wax). What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — fragrance load up to 13%, melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C; Natural Soy Pearl — no fragrance ceiling, temperatures or shelf life published. Chunks' page also states fragrance addition at 80–90°C and pour at 75–80°C in its spec table (its step list shows 70–80°C). The 12 trial candles, 3% rejects, 4% pour loss, 2% breakage, the day-5 materials date, the 100-a-day pour rate, the three-cycle wick release, the 3–4 hour burn cycle and the seven-day cure are labelled working assumptions or examples. CSI publishes no delivery times, melter throughput, wick-size charts or stock unit counts. Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November. Costs exclude labour, jars, packaging, freight and GST.
