candles a month on your figures · 80.0 kg of wax and 6.40 kg of fragrance · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How many candles do I need to sell? 400 a month. Your ₹1,00,000.00 target divided by your ₹250.00 contribution per candle is 400 units, and because contribution is a per-unit figure the division is exact — no rounding, no allowance. That is 13.33 candles a day across a 30-day month, or 15.38 a day if you work six days a week.

What does 400 candles look like in raw materials? At 200 g of wax and 8% fragrance load, 80.0 kg of wax, 6.40 kg of fragrance oil, 400 vessels and 400 wicks. In CSI pack sizes that is 8 × 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 6 × 1 kg plus one 500 g of Citronella Fragrance Oil, 4 × 100 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap and one 500-wick pack of Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1).

What will that basket cost at CSI prices? ₹74,163.00 at September 2026 list prices, taxes included. The candles actually consume ₹73,254.40 of that; the remaining ₹908.60 is spare oil and spare wicks sitting in your cupboard for next month. The published order-value code YAY10 takes 10% off a basket over ₹20,000, which is ₹7,416.30 here.

How many production days is that? Eight melter loads. The Electric Wax Melter (Imported) is sold in a 10 kgs capacity size, and 10 kg of wax at 200 g a candle is 50 candles, so 80.0 kg is 8 loads a month — two a week. Add 14–21 days of cure before those candles are ready to sell, which is why October's orders are poured in September.
The short answer
400 candles a month: ₹1,00,000.00 ÷ ₹250.00 = 400 units. That is 100 a week, or 13.33 every single day of a 30-day month.
80.0 kg of wax and 6.40 kg of oil: On 200 g of wax per candle at an 8% fragrance load — 216 g poured — plus 400 vessels and 400 wicks. This page carries that reading throughout.
A ₹74,163.00 basket at CSI list prices: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg, Citronella Fragrance Oil at ₹2.89/g, 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap at ₹29.50 a piece and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90, September 2026.

What it shows: the single division at the top is your arithmetic — your ₹1,00,000.00 monthly gross-profit target over your ₹250.00 contribution per candle — and everything below it is what 400 candles weigh and cost in live CSI pack sizes at 200 g of wax and an 8% fragrance load, September 2026. Deliberately left out: freight to your door, labels, outer boxes, courier to your own customer, electricity and your own hours, none of which are CSI products and none of which this page will guess at. No fill capacity is published for the vessel, so the 200 g figure is a wax weight this page chose, not a claim that the candle fits that jar.
Straight answer
How many candles a month does a ₹1 lakh gross profit need at ₹250.00 of contribution each?
400. The division is ₹1,00,000.00 ÷ ₹250.00, both of them your figures, and it comes out exactly — there is no remainder to round and no safety margin built in. What makes the answer useful is not the division but what 400 candles weigh. At 200 g of wax with an 8% fragrance load, which is the reading this page carries throughout, 400 candles need 80.0 kg of wax, 6.40 kg of fragrance oil, 400 vessels and 400 wicks, and 216 g goes into each jar rather than 200 g. Priced on live CSI stock in September 2026 — Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40 a kilogram, Citronella Fragrance Oil at ₹2.89 a gram, 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap at ₹29.50 a piece and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 — one candle is ₹183.14 of materials and the month consumes ₹73,254.40. Bought in the pack sizes the store actually sells, the basket is ₹74,163.00, because 6.40 kg of oil and 400 wicks do not divide neatly into packs. In production terms it is 8 loads of a 10 kg melter, or 100 candles a week, and soy needs 14–21 days of cure before those candles sell well, so the month you pour is not the month you invoice. One honest caution before you trust the 400: your ₹250.00 is a contribution figure, not a profit figure. It is what is left after the variable costs you have counted, and gross profit of ₹1,00,000.00 still has to pay rent, salaries, advertising and your own wage before any of it is yours.
One line: ₹1,00,000.00 ÷ ₹250.00 is 400 candles — 80.0 kg of wax, 6.40 kg of oil, 400 jars, 400 wicks and a ₹74,163.00 basket.
400 candles a month, and here is the trolley. 80.0 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (8 × 10 kg, ₹40,592.00), 6.40 kg of Citronella Fragrance Oil (6 × 1 kg plus one 500 g, ₹18,821.00), 4 × 100 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap (₹11,800.00) and one 500-pack of Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) (₹2,950.00). The division, and what 400 candles a month actually asks of you

The sum is one keystroke. The commitment behind it is thirteen candles a day, every day, including Sundays.

Your question contains both of its own inputs, so the arithmetic is short: ₹1,00,000.00 of gross profit divided by ₹250.00 of contribution per candle is 400 candles a month. Both of those figures are yours and this page uses them exactly as you wrote them, unrounded, and never treats them as CSI prices. There is no remainder, which is convenient but slightly misleading — a target that divides cleanly can feel like a plan when it is still only a number.

So the first useful thing to do with 400 is to spread it across time. Over a 30-day month it is 13.33 candles a day. If you keep a six-day week, roughly 26 working days, it is 15.38 a day. If you pour in weekly batches it is 100 a week. Those are the same number wearing different clothes, and the third version is the one most small makers actually work to, because pouring, cooling, curing and labelling are batch activities rather than daily ones.

Then spread it across the calendar rather than the month. Soy candles keep developing their throw for 14–21 days by ordinary practice, and the Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 page itself asks for a minimum cure before burn testing. A candle you pour on the 25th is not a candle you can confidently ship on the 26th. In practice a 400-unit month means pouring the first week's batch of 100 while the previous month's stock is still selling, which is why makers who scale to this volume start holding two to three weeks of finished stock and stop pouring to order.

Priced above: nothing — this table contains no prices. ₹1,00,000.00 and ₹250.00 are your own figures, used as given. The melter load line reads the 10 kgs capacity size of the Electric Wax Melter (Imported) and divides by the 200 g of wax this page pours per candle; it is a capacity stated on the product, not a claim about how fast anything melts.
The CSI principle
A target is a number until you weigh it.
₹1,00,000.00 ÷ ₹250.00 takes a second. The 80.0 kg of wax it implies takes eight melter loads and a cupboard.

Turning 400 candles into kilograms, pieces and one rupee figure

Four materials, four multiplications. The only decision that matters is which 200 g you mean.

Before any multiplication, fix the fill convention, because it changes every quantity on this page. A fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight, which is how CSI product pages state it. This page uses 200 g of wax at 8%, so 16 g of oil and 216 g into the jar. If you instead mean a finished candle that weighs 200 g, the wax falls to 185.19 g and the oil to 14.81 g, and every kilogram figure below drops by about 7.4%. Pick one, write it at the top of your sheet, and never change it mid-sheet.

On the wax-weight reading, 400 candles need 400 × 200 g = 80.0 kg of wax, 400 × 16 g = 6.40 kg of fragrance oil, 400 vessels and 400 wicks. Priced on live CSI stock, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at 1 kg is ₹507.40 a kilogram, so the wax line is ₹40,592.00 for the month. Citronella Fragrance Oil at 1 kg is ₹2.89 a gram, so 6.40 kg is ₹18,502.40 at that rate. The vessel is 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap at ₹29.50 a piece in the 100 Pcs pack, and the wick is Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90.

That gives one candle of ₹183.14 in materials and a month of ₹73,254.40 consumed. Note the shape of the unit cost before you go further: the wax is ₹101.48, the fragrance ₹46.26, the vessel ₹29.50 and the wick ₹5.90. Wax and fragrance together are ₹147.74, which is 80.7% of the candle. That ratio is worth keeping, because it tells you which line to negotiate and which to leave alone.

Live CSI pricing, September 2026, taxes included. A wax rate per gram cannot be written honestly to two decimals, so the wax is quoted per kilogram throughout. No fill capacity is published for the vessel; 200 g of wax is the weight this page chose to cost, not a capacity claim.
Multiplying a rounded per-candle figure by 400. ₹183.14 is the displayed, rounded unit cost. The unrounded figure is a fraction under it, and 400 × the rounded number lands a few rupees away from the real total. On this page every monthly figure is built from the unrounded unit and only rounded at the end, which is why ₹73,254.40 is not exactly 400 × ₹183.14. Keep full precision in your own sheet and round once, at the bottom.
Sizing the wax before you have sized the vessel. 200 g of wax is a weight this page picked so the arithmetic is legible; it is not a capacity. CSI does not publish a fill weight for the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap, and most vessel pages publish no fill capacity at all — some publish millilitres, which is a volume and not a weight. Fill the jar you actually own with water to your intended wax line, weigh it, multiply by about 0.9 for soy, and use that number. If your real fill is 150 g rather than 200 g, the month's wax drops from 80.0 kg to 60.0 kg and your whole basket changes.

From kilograms to pack counts — what you can actually put in a basket

The store sells packs, not kilograms. The gap between the two is real money.

Eighty kilograms of wax is a quantity; 8 × 10 kg is an order. The wax is the easy one, because 80.0 kg divides exactly into eight 10 kg packs at ₹5,074.00 each, which is ₹40,592.00. Run the ladder on that product before you assume the big pack is the clever buy: on Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 the 500 g pack works out at ₹520.00 a kilogram and the 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg packs are all ₹507.40 a kilogram. From 1 kg upwards the rate is identical, so buying the 10 kg pack saves you handling and nothing else. CSI publishes no quantity-discount ladder, and this page will not pretend one exists.

The fragrance is where pack granularity bites. You need 6.40 kg. Citronella Fragrance Oil is sold in 15 gm, 50 gm, 100 gm, 500 gm and 1 kg packs, and the rates those work out at are ₹7.67 a gram at 100 gm, ₹2.95 a gram at 500 gm and ₹2.89 a gram at 1 kg — this oil's own ladder, not a general rule. Six 1 kg packs plus one 500 g pack is 6.5 kg for ₹18,821.00, leaving 100 g spare. Seven 1 kg packs is ₹20,237.00 and leaves 600 g spare. Exactly 6.40 kg at the 1 kg rate would be ₹18,502.40, so the cheapest real basket costs ₹318.60 more than the theoretical figure — and that premium buys you 100 g of oil you will use next month.

The vessels divide cleanly: 4 × 100 Pcs is 400 pieces for ₹11,800.00. The wicks do not: the smallest pack that covers 400 is the 500-wick pack of Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹2,950.00, of which you use ₹2,360.00 and leave 100 wicks on the shelf. Every pack of that grade works out at the same ₹5.90 a wick, so the pack you pick changes your outlay this month and not your cost per candle.

BUY THE MONTH, NOT THE YEAR
The temptation at 400 units is to buy three months of fragrance at once. Resist it until the scent is proven. 6.40 kg is one month of one fragrance; three months is 19.2 kg and ₹56,463.00 of your cash standing in a cupboard. The wax is the safer thing to buy deep — it is used by every product you make and the Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 page states a 60 month shelf life in cool, dry storage — while a single fragrance is a bet on one scent continuing to sell. Ask on WhatsApp about a repeating monthly order rather than committing a quarter's cash to one oil.
The fragrance line, at the rate this page uses. Citronella Fragrance Oil is ₹2,891.00 for 1 kg, which is ₹2.89 a gram, and its page states use up to 10% with a flash point of 132°C and 0% vanillin — so there is no yellowing risk in a white wax. At 16 g a candle, one kilogram scents 62.5 candles. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 states a maximum load of 10% of total wax weight, and where a wax ceiling and an oil range differ the lower governs; here both are 10%, so 8% sits inside both.

400 candles as production days, not as a spreadsheet row

Eight melter loads, four pour sessions, and a cure clock that starts the moment you pour.

A monthly target only becomes a plan when it has a rhythm. Here is one built from a published capacity rather than an assumption: the Electric Wax Melter (Imported) is sold in a 10 kgs capacity size at ₹21,240.00, and 10 kg of wax at 200 g a candle is 50 candles. Your 80.0 kg is therefore 8 loads, which at two loads a week is a Tuesday and a Friday. If you are working from a 1 L Mini Electric Wax Melter or a double boiler instead, the same 400 candles simply take more sessions; the wax and oil quantities do not change.

1
1. Fix the fill, in writing, before you order anythingWeigh the vessel you actually use, filled with water to your wax line, and multiply by about 0.9 for soy. Write the result at the top of your sheet as a wax weight. This page uses 200 g of wax at 8%, which is 16 g of oil and 216 g poured; if your real fill is different, rescale every quantity below in the same proportion before you buy.
2
2. Multiply out the month, then convert to packs400 × your wax weight gives kilograms; 400 × your oil weight gives kilograms; 400 is your vessel and wick count. Then round upwards to real pack sizes, because the store sells packs. Here that is 8 × 10 kg, 6 × 1 kg plus one 500 g, 4 × 100 and one 500-wick pack — a ₹74,163.00 basket against ₹73,254.40 of materials actually consumed.
3
3. Split the month into pour sessions and book them8 loads of 50 candles is two sessions a week. Put them in a calendar as appointments, not intentions. A session is melt, dye if you use it, fragrance at the temperature the wax page states, pour, cool undisturbed, wick-trim next day. The bottleneck at this volume is almost never melting; it is bench space for 50 cooling jars.
4
4. Start the cure clock and work a month aheadSoy throw keeps developing for 14–21 days by ordinary practice. Treat the pour date as the start of the clock and the sale date as three weeks later. For Diwali on 8 November 2026, that means the festive batch is poured by about mid-October, and the wax and oil for it are ordered before that — freight included.

One thing that rhythm exposes: 400 candles a month is not a hobby volume, and it is not a full-time factory either. It is the awkward middle where a single person can just about do it and will spend most evenings doing it. Before you commit, cost the bench time honestly. If a pour session of 50 candles takes four hours including clean-down, 8 sessions is 32 hours a month before a single label goes on, an order is packed or a message is answered.

A target you cannot pour is a wish with a rupee sign in front of it.

Getting 80 kg of wax to your door

Eighty kilograms does not arrive in one parcel, and the published rate card stops before it does.

This is the line most monthly plans forget. The 10 kg pack of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 carries a stored packed weight of 11.0 kg, so 8 of them is 88 kg of billable weight. The store's published flat-rate bands stop at 50 kg, so there is no published rate for a single 88 kg consignment. That is a fact about the rate card, not a refusal: a consignment of that size is a WhatsApp conversation, not a checkout button.

Within the published bands, how you split the month matters and not always in the direction you expect. Eight separate 11.0 kg parcels bill at the ₹1,200.00 band each. Four parcels of two packs — 22 kg each — bill at ₹2,000.00 each. Two parcels of four packs — 44 kg each — bill at ₹4,000.00 each. The last two options come to the same total, and both beat eight singles by ₹1,600.00. Every band quoted here is the published flat rate for that weight in September 2026, and a merchant-set rate can change.

Priced above: the published flat weight bands as at September 2026, read for the stored packed weight of the Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg pack (11.0 kg). Single parcels fall in Under 15kg Standard Shipping; two packs fall in Under 25 kg Expedited Shipping; four packs fall in Under 50 kg Expedited Shipping. Nothing above 50 kg has a published band. Transit wording is quoted from the service it appears on and no delivery time for any city, state or region is stated here, because none is published.
Leaving freight out of the contribution figure. Carried into the stack, the cheapest wax freight on this month is ₹8,000.00 spread over 400 candles, which is ₹20.00 a candle before the fragrance, vessels and wicks have moved at all. If your ₹250.00 was worked out on materials at list price and inbound delivery was never in it, the contribution is optimistic by at least that much and your 400 candles are short of ₹1,00,000.00. Two reviews on the store say plainly that these charges are high; that is a fair criticism, and the answer to it is to consolidate deliberately rather than to leave the line out.

What ₹1 lakh of gross profit is not

Contribution is not profit, and a clean division is not a forecast.

Your ₹250.00 is a contribution figure: selling price less the variable costs you have counted. Gross profit of ₹1,00,000.00 a month is what those 400 candles hand to the business before it pays for anything that does not vary with the candle. None of the following is a CSI product, so no figure for any of it exists on this page — copy the table, put your own numbers in the blanks, and total the sheet as materials from CSI plus your own costs.

Materials from CSI, 400 candles The four lines this page can price ₹73,254.40
Basket you actually pay Packs, not kilograms ₹74,163.00
Priced above: only the two materials lines — ₹73,254.40 consumed and ₹74,163.00 of packs, both from live CSI pricing in September 2026. Every other row is deliberately empty. Do not put a typical figure in a blank: a guessed cost that travels into a contribution figure is worse than an admitted gap, and it is the fastest way to a 400-candle month that does not produce ₹1,00,000.00.

There is also a rebuild worth doing before you trust the 400. Take your selling price, subtract the ₹183.14 of materials this page has costed, subtract your label, your box, your outbound courier and your gateway fee, and see whether what is left is really ₹250.00. If it turns out to be ₹230.00, your target needs ₹1,00,000.00 ÷ ₹230.00 = 434.78, which rounds up to 435 candles — 35 more than you planned, and another 7.0 kg of wax to buy and pour. The division is only ever as good as the number you divide by.

Treating a contribution figure as take-home money. Four hundred candles at ₹250.00 generates ₹1,00,000.00 of gross profit; it does not generate ₹1,00,000.00 of profit. Rent, advertising, your own wage and every packaging item come out of that before anything is yours. Work out what those come to for a normal month first, subtract them from ₹1,00,000.00, and only then decide whether 400 candles is the target you actually want — or whether a higher contribution on fewer candles is the easier road.

And be honest about the shape of the demand, not just the supply. This page can tell you that 400 candles need 80.0 kg of wax and 8 melter loads. It cannot tell you that 400 people a month will buy one. Indian candle demand is strongly seasonal — Diwali, weddings, Rakhi and corporate gifting pull volume into a few weeks and leave the monsoon months quiet — so a flat 400 a month is an average, not a rhythm. Plan the materials monthly and the sales seasonally, and hold the spare oil and wicks this basket leaves you rather than treating them as waste.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells wax, fragrance oil, vessels and wicks, and the most useful thing this page can tell you is not to buy more of them. Your ₹250.00 contribution is the number the whole plan rests on, and if it was worked out on list prices with inbound freight left out, it is wrong — rebuild it before you order 80.0 kg of anything. The 8 melter loads are also worth a pause: a ₹21,240.00 machine is not required to make 400 candles a month, and a maker already pouring this volume successfully with a double boiler should spend that money on stock, not equipment.

Every CSI price here is live stock in September 2026, taxes included, and the linked product pages are authoritative if anything changes. Fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight, as CSI product pages state it: this page uses 200 g of wax plus 16 g of oil at 8%, 216 g poured, and says so wherever it matters. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 states a maximum of 10% of total wax weight and the Citronella Fragrance Oil page states use up to 10%; where a wax ceiling and an oil range differ the lower governs, and here both are 10%. No fill capacity is published for the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap, so no claim is made that a 216 g candle fits it. The ₹1,00,000.00 target and the ₹250.00 contribution are your figures, carried unrounded and never presented as CSI prices. Shipping figures are the published flat bands by weight as at September 2026, read against stored packed weights; nothing above 50 kg has a published band. Labels, boxes, courier to your own customer, gateway fees, advertising, rent, electricity and your own wage are not CSI products and are left blank throughout. No wastage allowance is assumed, which is an assumption and not a measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Is 400 candles a month the same as 400 sales a month?
Only if nothing breaks, nothing is returned and nothing sits unsold. The division gives you 400 candles sold, not 400 poured. If you reject or break candles, you pour more than 400 to sell 400, and your materials rise in the same proportion. Set your own reject rate after a full batch rather than borrowing a percentage — this page assumes none, which makes ₹73,254.40 a floor.
Does buying 80 kg of wax at once get me a lower rate per kilogram?
Not on this grade, beyond the very bottom of the ladder. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 works out at ₹520.00 a kilogram in the 500 g pack and ₹507.40 a kilogram in the 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg packs, so the whole difference available is ₹12.60 a kilogram, and it disappears once you are past the smallest pack. CSI publishes no quantity-discount ladder. What is published is a set of order-value codes — HAPPY5 at 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 at 8% over ₹12,000 and YAY10 at 10% over ₹20,000 — which depend on the basket total, not the pack size. On a ₹74,163.00 basket YAY10 is ₹7,416.30. For a consignment this size, ask on WhatsApp.
What if my candle is 150 g of wax rather than 200 g?
Everything scales. 400 candles at 150 g of wax and 8% is 60.0 kg of wax and 4.80 kg of oil, and the materials per candle fall to ₹146.20 — because the vessel and the wick do not shrink with the pour. That is the whole of small-format economics: a smaller candle is cheaper to make and dearer per gram. Measure your real fill before you decide; no fill capacity is published for most vessels.
How much cash do I need up front for the first month?
On this basket, ₹74,163.00 at list price, or ₹66,746.70 with the published YAY10 code applied, plus freight, plus everything CSI does not sell. The uncomfortable part is timing: you pay for materials in week one, pour in weeks one to four, cure for 14–21 days and collect the money later still. A 400-candle month needs roughly two months of materials cash in the business before the first ₹1,00,000.00 arrives.
Can I hit ₹1 lakh with fewer candles instead?
Yes, and it is usually the easier road. The same ₹1,00,000.00 needs 200 candles at ₹500.00 of contribution, or 250 at ₹400.00. Raising contribution costs you nothing in wax, fragrance, bench hours or freight; raising volume costs you all four. Work on the contribution figure first — through price, through mix, or through the ₹183.14 materials line — and treat 400 units as the fallback rather than the plan.
Why does this page use 216 g of fill for a 200 g candle?
Because the 8% is measured against the wax, not against the finished candle — that is how CSI product pages state a load. Eight per cent of 200 g of wax is 16 g of oil, and both of them end up in the jar, so 216 g is poured. The alternative reading — a finished candle weighing 200 g — gives 185.19 g of wax and 14.81 g of oil at the same true 8% load. This page carries the first reading throughout and every kilogram figure on it follows from that choice.
