75 Bergamot Candles · Testing to Production
CSI lists no plain bergamot; Bergamot Amber is the oil. Screen two waxes and two wicks with twelve candles, confirm the winner with three, then buy the production quantities minus everything the tests left behind.

CSI materials for the whole path on the worked example (Chunks + Eco Thin C1) · screening ₹4,472.42 · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell bergamot fragrance oil? Not a plain bergamot. CSI lists Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil — a bergamot-and-amber fragrance — from ₹105.02 for 15 g.

What do I buy to test? A 12-candle screen: Chunks and CSI 468, Eco Thin C1 and Thick C2, Bergamot Amber at 8%, 15 White Matte jars — ₹4,472.42.

What do I buy for production? The winning wax and wick, 2 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g of Bergamot Amber, 80 more jars and stickers — ₹22,957.00–₹23,895.20, after subtracting test leftovers.

Whole path? ₹27,429.42–₹28,367.62 excluding tools (₹1,357.00 if you need them).
The short answer
Answer: Bergamot Amber (CSI's only bergamot), Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 468 to screen, Eco Thin C1 and Thick C2 wicks, White Matte jars, stickers — ₹27,429.42–₹28,367.62 from testing to 75 candles.
Why: Wax and wick are unknowns until tested; jars are shared by every option. Buying in stages means the production order is sized for the winner only.
Method: Tools → 12-candle screen → 3 confirmation candles → production stack minus stage 1 leftovers → cheapest in-stock packs.
75 Bergamot Amber candles: what you buy at each stage, and what carries forward CSI lists no plain bergamot oil · leftovers from stage 1 are subtracted from the stage 3 order · test design is labelled working practice 0 · TOOLS if you do not own them Scale · thermometer Pouring jug Wick centring ₹1,357.00 1 · SCREEN 2 waxes × 2 wicks × 3 12 candles at 8% Chunks · CSI 468 Thin C1 · Thick C2 Bergamot Amber ₹4,472.42 2 · CONFIRM winning wax + wick 3 candles at 8% full-life + shelf from production materials in stage 3 ₹ 3 · PRODUCE 75 saleable candles Wax after stage 1 Oil after stage 2 Wick after stage 1 Jars any time ₹22,957.00–₹23,895.20 Carried forward from stage 1: 341 g of the winning wax, 13.4 g of oil, 3 jars and the unused test wicks — subtracted from stage 3, so nothing is bought twice. Whole path: ₹27,429.42–₹28,367.62 depending on which wax and wick win.
The four purchases on the way to 75 Bergamot Amber candles. Stage 1 decides wax and wick; stage 2 confirms the winner using production materials; stage 3 buys the production quantities minus everything stage 1 left behind. Test counts and allowances are labelled working practice.
Straight answer
I want to make 75 × 200 g bergamot soy candles — which CSI raw materials would I need from testing through finished production?
CSI does not list a plain bergamot oil; its bergamot is Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil, a bergamot-and-amber fragrance. With that oil at an 8% working load (16 g oil + 184 g wax per candle), the path has four purchases. Tools if you need them (₹1,357.00). A 12-candle screen — Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 × Eco Thin C1 and Thick C2 × three candles — with 15 White Matte jars and stickers: ₹4,472.42. Three confirmation candles from production materials. Then production for 75 candles with 3% rejects, 5% pour loss and 2% breakage (labelled), minus everything the screen left behind: ₹22,957.00–₹23,895.20 depending on the winner. Whole path, excluding tools: ₹27,429.42–₹28,367.62. Jars can be bought any time; wax and wick after the screen; production oil after confirmation if the load might change.
One line: Bergamot Amber is CSI's only bergamot; screen wax and wick, confirm, then buy production minus the test leftovers.
CSI does not list a plain bergamot oil. The bergamot on our shelves is Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil — a bergamot-and-amber fragrance — so that is the oil on this list. From a 12-candle screening test through 75 finished candles, the CSI materials cost ₹27,429.42–₹28,367.62 depending on which wax and wick win; the screening stage alone is ₹4,472.42.
Buy Bergamot Amber oil

First: there is no plain bergamot at CSI

The honest first line of this shopping list is a product we do not sell.

If you searched for bergamot fragrance oil, you should know before you plan anything that CSI's fragrance catalogue has no single-note bergamot. What it has is Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil, a blend whose name tells you it pairs bergamot with amber. That is a different fragrance from a straight bergamot, and only you can say whether it suits your candle. CSI publishes no composition, throw data or IFRA percentage for it in this data — check the product page, and ask for the IFRA certificate and MSDS on WhatsApp. If a straight bergamot is essential, this page's method still works with another supplier's oil; the wax, wick and jar lines do not change.

Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil — sizes and the per-gram step
Size Price Per gram 200 g candles at 16 g
15 g ₹105.02 ₹7.00 0.94
50 g ₹280.00 ₹5.60 3.12
100 g ₹560.00 ₹5.60 6.25
500 g ₹2,718.00 ₹5.44 31.25
1 kg ₹5,437.00 ₹5.44 62.50

The useful step is small-to-medium: ₹7.00 a gram at 15 g against ₹5.60 at 50 g and 100 g. Above that it barely moves — ₹5.44 at 500 g, ₹5.44 at 1 kg — so the 1 kg bottle buys convenience, not a better rate. That shapes both orders below: the screening oil comes in 100 g bottles, and the production oil in 500 g bottles topped up with small ones.

The four stages, and what each one buys

"From testing through finished production" is really four purchases with decisions between them. Stage 0 is tools, if you do not own them. Stage 1 screens two waxes and two wicks with Bergamot Amber at an 8% working load — twelve candles. Stage 2 confirms the winner with three more candles, burned to the end and kept on the shelf; those come out of the production materials. Stage 3 is the 75 saleable candles. The rule that keeps the money sensible: anything a test can change is bought after that test; anything shared by every outcome can be bought early.

Whole path (excluding tools) 90 poured ₹27,429.42–₹28,367.62

The screening stage is 16.3% of the whole worked path, and it is the part most makers want to skip. It is also the only part that tells you which wax and wick to buy in production quantities. Skipping it does not save ₹4,472.42; it bets the ₹22,957.00+ production order on a guess. The burn-test budget post sizes test stages for other situations, and the wick-sample post covers how many wick options are worth screening.

Stage 1: the screening kit

Twelve candles: two CSI container soy waxes × two Eco wicks × three candles each, all with Bergamot Amber at 8% of a 200 g finished candle (16 g oil + 184 g wax). The two waxes are Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — both have a published 13% ceiling, so a later load step has room — and the wicks are Eco Thin C1 and Thick C2, because CSI publishes no wick-size-per-diameter chart. A 5% pour-loss allowance is included; jars are the White Matte candidate, with three spare for a re-pour.

Pour all twelve on one day from one oil lotLabel each base: wax, wick, candle number. Follow each wax page's temperatures — Chunks: fragrance addition 80–90°C, pour 75–80°C in the spec table; CSI 468: pour 58–60°C.
2
Cure to the same checkpointSeven and fourteen days are labelled example checkpoints. CSI's Chunks page states at least 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks.
3
Burn in matched sets of fourOne of each wax-and-wick combination together, spaced apart, 3–4 hour cycles with full cool-down (a commonly used working practice). Record time to full pool, pool depth, flame height, soot and a blind 0–5 throw score.
4
Knock out first, then rankAny combination worse than the others on flame, soot or jar heat is out, however it smells. Rank the rest on pool and throw.
5
Write down the winner and its carried-forward stockWinning wax and wick, plus exactly what is left of each from this stage. Those grams and pieces come off the production order.
The shortcut: screen at 8% and produce at 10% "for a stronger bergamot". A load change is a formula change; the wick that won at 8% may not suit 10%. Fix: if you want 10%, make it the stage 2 confirmation — three candles at 10% in the winning wax and wick — before the production oil is bought. Both waxes in this screen publish a 13% ceiling, so 10% is inside both.

Stages 2 and 3: confirmation and production

The production order is the calculated need minus everything the test stage left behind.

With a winner chosen, the production stack is the familiar one: 75 candles plus 3 confirmation candles, a 3% reject allowance on wax, oil, wicks and stickers, 5% pour loss on wax and oil, 2% breakage on jars — labelled working assumptions. That gives 15,535.7 g of wax, 1,350.9 g of oil, 81 wicks and stickers and 80 jars. Then subtract what stage 1 left: 340.8 g of the winning wax, 13.4 g of Bergamot Amber, 3 jars, the unused wicks of the winning type and 28 stickers.

On the worked path — Chunks with Eco Thin C1 — the whole journey from screening to 75 finished candles is ₹27,429.42, or ₹365.73 of CSI materials per saleable candle, every test candle included. The jars are the line you can safely buy at any point, because every wax and wick option uses the same jar; the wax and wick wait for stage 1, and the production oil waits for stage 2 if you are considering a load change. If stage 2 moves you to 10%, the oil line becomes 3 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 2 × 15 g at ₹9,204.04 instead of ₹7,396.00.

Keep the losers' leftovers out of production
The losing wax's leftover — 341 g if CSI 468 loses, 341 g if Chunks does — is not part of the production wax. Mixing waxes in a production batch is a new formula. Label the bag and keep it for its own test later.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. You do not need both waxes in production, and you may not need the screening stage at all if you already have a wax and wick that work in this jar with a similar oil — in that case skip to stage 2, and the whole path drops by ₹4,472.42. And do not buy Bergamot Amber in a 1 kg bottle for 75 candles: it costs ₹5,437.00 against ₹7,396.00 for the production quantity here, and the per-gram rate is almost the same.
The CSI principle
Buy the shared materials when you like. Buy the deciding ones after the test that decides them.
Jars serve every option; the wax and wick are decided at stage 1; the oil quantity at stage 2 if the load might move.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. The first thing this page tells you is that we do not sell the oil the title asks for, and what we sell instead. It then prices a path that buys only the winning wax and wick in production quantities.

Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Soy-wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Frequently asked questions

Does CSI sell bergamot fragrance oil for candles?
Not a single-note bergamot. CSI lists Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil, a bergamot-and-amber fragrance, from ₹105.02 for 15 g to ₹5,437.00 for 1 kg.
What raw materials do I need to start making soy candles?
Soy wax, fragrance oil, wicks, wick stickers and jars, plus a scale, thermometer and pouring jug. Buy small test quantities first; buy production quantities of the wax and wick only after they pass.
How much fragrance oil for 75 candles of 200 g?
At 8%, 1,200 g net. With three confirmation candles, 3% rejects and 5% pour loss, 1,350.9 g; minus the screening leftover, buy 2 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g.
How many test candles before production?
This page uses twelve to screen two waxes and two wicks (three each) and three to confirm the winner — a labelled working practice. If your wax and wick are already proven, skip the screen.
Which soy wax should I test for bergamot candles?
CSI publishes no throw data for any wax. This page screens Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 468 because both pages state a 13% ceiling, leaving room for a load change; your test decides.

Non-price figures and assumptions: BOM convention used on every page in this series: load is a share of the finished candle (oil = W × L; wax = W × (1 − L)). Allowances are applied in one order — whole test candles, then a reject allowance (÷ (1 − reject rate)) on wax, oil, wicks and stickers, then pour loss on wax and oil only, then breakage on glass only, then rounding up to listed in-stock CSI packs. A rejected candle is assumed to be remade with new wax, oil, wick and sticker in a cleaned jar; a jar that cannot be reused counts as breakage. Working figures on this page: 8% load (the title gives none), 12 screening candles (2 waxes × 2 wicks × 3), 3 confirmation candles, 3% rejects, 5% pour loss (also on the screen), 2% breakage, 3 spare screening jars. CSI lists no plain bergamot fragrance oil. What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, fragrance addition 80–90°C, pour 75–80°C in the spec table (the step list also shows 70–80°C), cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%, an 80–90°C melt/pour working range in the spec table, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C, fragrance load up to 13%, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Natural Soy Pearl — no melt point, pour temperature, fragrance ceiling or shelf life published. CSI publishes no throw, burn-test, wick-size-per-diameter or jar-diameter data; only two fills are published (Golden Aluminium Tin 85 g, Heart Cutout Velvet Jar 50 g wax capacity). Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November.
