I Want to Make a Jasmine Candle in a 150 g Jar — What Should I Buy If I Need Enough Material for Formulation Trials Plus 50 Finished Units?
शेयर करना
And 50 units? 7,624 g wax, 663 g oil, 54 wicks, 55 jars with allowances — ₹8,427.60 (example: Jasmine 8%, Soy Pearl, Thin C1).
One order or two? One order is ₹12,141.40, ₹285.00 less than two — but it bets up to ₹6,367.00 of wax, oil and wick on the trial results.
What do you recommend? The hedged order: trials plus production jars and stickers now (₹5,774.40), wax, oil and wick after (₹6,552.00).
The real question: one purchase or two?
A maker who asks for trial material and finished-unit material in the same breath usually wants one order: one delivery, one invoice, no waiting. That is reasonable — and it has a price that is easy to miss. The trials exist to choose the wax, the wick, the oil and the load. Production quantities bought at the same time are bought before those choices are made. If the trials agree with your guess, one order saves a little. If they do not, the production half of the order is the wrong material.
This page prices all three ways of doing it for a 150 g jasmine candle: two orders (trials now, production after), one order (everything now, betting on the expected winners), and a hedged order (trials now plus only the items every outcome needs). It then lets you choose with the numbers in front of you. The 150 g is the reader's finished weight; at an 8% working load each candle is 12 g of oil and 138 g of wax, and at 10% 15 g and 135 g (CSI convention: load is a share of the finished weight).
| Approach | Bought now | Bought after the trials | Total CSI ₹ | If the trials pick something else |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Two orders | Trial kit ₹3,998.80 | Production ₹8,427.60 | ₹12,426.40 | Nothing wasted — order 2 follows the result |
| One order | Everything ₹12,141.40 | — | ₹12,141.40 | Up to ₹3,348.00 wax, ₹2,724.00 oil, ₹295.00 wick bought on a guess |
| Hedged order | Trial kit + production jars and stickers ₹5,774.40 | Wax, oil, wick ₹6,552.00 | ₹12,326.40 | Nothing wasted unless the jar itself fails |
The 150 g jar
The 150 g is your jar's finished weight, so the maths uses it as given. If you are buying the jar from CSI, the closest practical candidate is the 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar, golden lug cap with its golden lug cap (₹200.60 for 5, ₹1,475.00 for 50). Its fill weight is not published. "200 ml" is its brim volume; with a commonly used approximation of about 0.86–0.90 g of wax per ml (an assumption that varies by wax and temperature) a brim-full jar would hold roughly 172 g–180 g, so a 150 g fill sits a sensible distance below the brim. Confirm it: weigh water to your fill line, apply the factor, and pour one weighed candle of the real mix before the trials. The pricing below uses the Salsa jar; with your own jar, delete the jar lines and keep the rest.
The formulation trials
The trials answer four questions with 18 candles. Which jasmine? Which wax? Which wick? Is 8% enough? The three jasmine-family oils are Jasmine (₹4.30 a gram at 100 g), Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) (₹7.00) and Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon (₹7.99) — all three have a 15 g size in stock. CSI publishes no throw or composition data for any of them. The waxes are Soy Pearl (CSI's cheapest container soy; no ceiling published, so 8–10% is a labelled test range) and Chunks (page: up to 13%).
| Trial | Oil | Wax | Load | Wick | Candles |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A · oil screen | Jasmine · Raat Ki Rani · Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon | Soy Pearl | 8% | Eco Thin C1 | 2 each = 6 |
| B · wax × wick | Jasmine | Soy Pearl · Chunks | 8% | Eco Thin C1 · Eco Thick C2 | 2 per pair = 8 |
| C · load step | Jasmine | Soy Pearl · Chunks | 10% | Trial-B winner | 2 per wax = 4 |

| Wick stickers (sheet of 40) | 22 stickers | 1 × sheet of 40 | ₹100.00 | 18 stickers |
| CSI kit subtotal | ₹3,998.80 |
Trial C's four wicks come from trial B's leftovers (Eco Thin C1 has 10 spare in its 20-pack; Thick C2 6 in its 10-pack). Natural Soy Pearl starts at a 1 kg bag, so 2 × 1 kg (₹900.00) covers trials A to C; Chunks are cheapest as 2 × 500 g (₹598.00). The two screen oils each need 25.2 g, so two 15 g bottles apiece.

The 50 finished units
The production half uses an example result — Jasmine at 8% in Natural Soy Pearl with Eco Thin C1 — and the series allowance stack: 1 QC candle, ÷ (1 − 4%) for rejects, + 4% pour loss on wax and oil only, + 2% breakage on glass only, then real CSI packs. All four allowances are labelled assumptions.
| Stage | Units | Wax | Oil | Jars | Wicks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Net requirement | 50 units | 6,900.0 g | 600.0 g | 50 | 50 |

| Natural Soy Pearl Wax | 7,624.5 g | 1 × 5 kg + 3 × 1 kg | ₹3,474.00 | 375.5 g (₹163.06) |
| Jasmine Fragrance Oil | 663.0 g | 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g | ₹2,724.00 | 2.0 g (₹8.19) |

| CSI subtotal | ₹8,427.60 |
The oil line is worth a second look. Jasmine is one of the oils with a real per-gram break: ₹6.87 a gram at 15 g, ₹4.30 at 100 g, ₹3.92 at 500 g and ₹3.92 at 1 kg — the 1 kg is 8.8% cheaper per gram than the 100 g. For 663.0 g the cheapest cover is 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g (₹2,724.00), not the 1 kg (₹3,923.00). The wax rounds to 1 × 5 kg + 3 × 1 kg: Natural Soy Pearl's 5 kg bag is ₹424.80 a kilo against ₹450.00 for 1 kg — the only real bulk break among CSI's container soy waxes. If Chunks wins trial B instead, the production list is ₹9,745.60; if 10% wins trial C, it is ₹9,160.60.
If you still want one order
Bought together, the trial and production quantities of the expected winners round more efficiently: Natural Soy Pearl 9,357.0 g becomes 1 × 10 kg (₹4,248.00); Jasmine 852.0 g becomes 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g (₹3,584.00); Salsa jars 73 become 1 × pack of 50 + 5 × pack of 5 (₹2,478.00); Eco Thin C1 66 become 1 × 50-pack + 1 × 20-pack (₹413.00). With the trial-only items (Chunks, the two screen jasmines, Thick C2) the single order is ₹12,141.40 — ₹285.00 less than two orders, plus whatever one delivery saves you.
| Line bought early | Production share | Wasted if… |
|---|---|---|
| Natural Soy Pearl (production share) | ₹3,348.00 | Chunks wins trial B |
| Jasmine (production share) | ₹2,724.00 | Raat Ki Rani or Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon wins trial A |
| Eco Thin C1 (production share) | ₹295.00 | Thick C2 wins trial B |
| Salsa jars and stickers | — | Only if the jar fails the fill check |
Weigh ₹285.00 against those lines. If you would bet at even odds that Jasmine, Soy Pearl and Thin C1 all win, one order is a poor trade. That is why this page's recommendation is the hedged order: trials plus production jars and stickers now (₹5,774.40), then wax, oil and wick (₹6,552.00) after the trials. The wick-not-validated post applies the same logic to a larger confirmed order, and the first-100-candles post sorts bulk from small-pack buys.
What one finished unit costs
At production rates — Natural Soy Pearl at the 5 kg rate (₹0.42/g), Jasmine at its 500 g rate (₹3.92/g), Eco Thin C1 (₹5.90), a Salsa jar with cap at the 50-pack rate (₹29.50) and one sticker (₹2.50) — one 150 g unit at 8% costs ₹143.59 in materials. It excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST, and the label in the example table below.

|---|---|---|---|
| Wax | 138 g | ₹0.42/g | ₹58.62 |
