What is free? A full cure, adding fragrance inside the wax page's stated band, and stirring for two minutes. Free in materials — a 21-day cure instead of 7 days ties up about ₹1,27,656.85 more inventory at 1,000 candles a month, so "free" is not the same as "costless".
Does a wider candle always throw better? Per candle, yes; per gram, no. Release area per 100 g of candle falls from about 44 cm² in a 5.3 cm jar to 11 cm² in a 700 g apothecary. That is why two small candles beat one large one for filling a room — 56.5 cm² against 38.5 cm², for ₹28.46 more per pair.
What does the formula lever look like? Not more oil — different oil. Anchoring a top-heavy scent with a base-weighted one changes what survives a cool soy pool: a 70:30 Citrus Lemon and Sandalwood blend costs ₹55.85 per 200 g candle at 8% against ₹45.31 for the citrus alone.
Release area, and why nobody prices it
Hot throw is evaporation from a liquid surface. The liquid surface is the melt pool, and once the pool has reached the glass its area is fixed by the vessel: area = π × (diameter ÷ 2)². Because the diameter is squared, small changes in a jar produce large changes in release. Going from a stated 6 cm jar to a stated 7 cm jar is a 17% wider candle and a 36% larger pool. Nothing about the oil changed.
The table below takes every CSI vessel whose page publishes a numeric diameter and works out both numbers that matter: the full pool area, and that area divided by the candle's stated fill so you can see release per 100 g of product. Note the caveat the pages themselves force: the 200 ml jars state a fill weight in millilitres, not grams, so the per-100 g column for those is calculated on an assumed 200 g fill and you should weigh a filled jar before you rely on it.

Nine levers, priced per candle and per thousand
The baseline for every figure below is one production candle: 200 g at an 8% load, Sandalwood in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at 10 kg pricing, a 200 ml matte glass jar, an Eco C2 wick and a wick sticker — ₹273.55 of materials, ₹2,73,550.40 for a thousand. The third column is the part almost every article omits: the re-test each change obliges, because a candle you altered is a candle whose burn behaviour you no longer know. A six-jar bracket at this baseline consumes ₹1,641.30.

Read it as a spending plan rather than a ranking. Levers 1, 2 and 9 cost effectively nothing and force no re-test, so there is no argument for not doing them. Lever 3 is the cheapest change that can genuinely transform a candle, at ₹3,540 a thousand plus one bracket. Levers 4, 6 and 7 are the expensive ones — not because of the materials, which are trivial, but because each one voids your existing recipe and buys you a full re-qualification. The wick lever
Here is the honest position on wick sizing at CSI, stated before any advice: the Eco Candle Wicks page does not publish a diameter recommendation. C1 (Thin) and C2 (Thick) appear only as variant names. Two other wick products do publish something — Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are described as "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm" with a stated wick height of 10.16 cm, and Eco Candle Wicks Loose are "designed specifically for 2 inch diameters". Everything else is decided by your test, which is exactly why the test is the product.

The wax lever, and why it is never clean
The coconut-soy argument is real and the arithmetic is small: Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 is ₹6,370 per 10 kg against ₹5,999 for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, so on the 184 g in a 200 g candle at 8% the swap costs ₹6.83 — ₹6,826.40 across a thousand. What it buys is a wax whose page states a fragrance load of up to 13% and a melting point of 50–53°C with a pour of 58–60°C.
And that is where the second and third decisions arrive. A pour twenty degrees lower than Chunks' stated 70–80°C changes your whole bench routine and your set time. A different wax sets into a different crystal structure, which means your wick verdict is void and the bracket has to be run again. If you also nudge the load upward because 13% is now available, you have changed three things and you will not be able to say which one helped. The rule is the same one that governs every experiment on this page: one variable, then a burn test.

The formula lever: structure and incorporation
There is no measurable way to buy a stronger oil off a page, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. What you can read is structure — 88 of 107 CSI fragrance pages publish a full top / heart / base pyramid, and 102 publish notes of some kind. Structure predicts what survives: a scent whose character sits in its base has less to lose to a cool soy pool and a fortnight of cure than one whose character is all in the top. That is the formula lever, and it is free to read before you buy.
The commercially useful version is anchoring. Keep the bright oil your customers ask for and give it something heavy to hold onto, then treat the result as a new oil and qualify it properly. Worked at 8% on a 200 g candle, with both oils at 1 kg pricing:

Three things to hold in mind before you blend. First, a blend is a new oil: every published figure you were relying on — stated load, stated flash point, stated vanillin — applies to the components, not to the mixture, so the governing load becomes the lower of the two and the qualification starts again. Second, keep the blend ratio to the gram and write it on the card, or you have invented a scent you cannot reorder. Third, if one component's page states vanillin present and the other states 0%, the blend can still yellow pale wax — Woody Oud's and Sandalwood's pages state 0% vanillin, but a gourmand anchor generally will not.
Incorporation is the other half of the formula lever and it is genuinely free. Chunks state fragrance in at 80–90°C; Eco Soy CSI 400 states 85°C with a two-minute stir. Oil that dissolved into the wax behaves differently from oil that was merely stirred through it, and the difference shows up as throw rather than as anything you can see in the jar. The free lever that still costs money
Curing is the wax crystal structure settling and the fragrance distributing evenly through it, and it takes weeks rather than hours. Standard practice for soy containers is 14 to 21 days; the Chunks page's own figure is a minimum of 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks, before performing burn tests, and several oil pages state 48–72 hours for soy. Take the longest figure your materials publish, and cure with lids on, in closed cartons, at room temperature.
Now price it honestly, because at a thousand candles a month it is not free. Holding a month's stock for 21 days instead of 7 means fourteen extra days of ₹2,73,550.40 of materials sitting in cartons — about ₹1,27,656.85 of working capital. That is the real reason production lines shorten cures, and it is a reason worth arguing with rather than dismissing: the alternative is shipping a candle that a customer will judge quiet and not reorder. The practical resolution is a rolling cure — pour continuously, ship from the oldest carton — so the capital is tied up once at the start rather than every month.
The order to pull them in
The sequence below is ordered by evidence gained per rupee committed, not by expected impact, because you do not yet know which lever your candle needs. Each step either fixes the problem or removes a suspect, and each one is cheap enough to run alongside production.

Four months, ₹4,923.90 of qualification materials, and at the end of it you know which of the four levers your candle actually responds to — which is worth more than any single improvement, because it tells you what to do on the next SKU too. Note what is absent from the programme: raising the load. It is absent because you asked it to be, and because at the top of a stated range there is nothing left to raise.
