Mixing · 10 kg in one batch
A 10 kg batch is fifty 200 g candles that all have to carry 16 g of oil. Uniformity comes from four things: a vessel with room to stir, a paddle that reaches the base, a stir-and-refill routine that keeps the batch even through a long pour, and three sample candles that prove it. This page covers each, with CSI equipment priced.

Quick answers — read this first
How do I make sure fragrance oil is distributed evenly through a 10 kg batch? Use a vessel with headroom, a paddle that reaches the base, add the oil in a slow stream while stirring, stir slowly at full depth, stir before every jug refill, and check candles #1, #25 and #50 against a reference.

How much oil and wax for 10 kg at 8%? 800 g of oil and 9,200 g of wax for 10,000 g of finished wax. Adding 800 g to 10 kg of wax makes 10.8 kg at 7.41%. I'm Making 10 Kg of Scented Candles at 8% Fragrance Load — How Do I Calculate the Exact Wax and Fragrance Quantities Without Accidentally Making a 10.8 Kg Batch? covers the trap.

What vessel should I use? One the batch fills only part-way, so you can stir to the base. CSI's Electric Wax Melter comes in 10 kg (₹21,240.00) and 20 kg (₹25,960.00) capacities. See vessel choice.

How long should I stir 10 kg? As a labelled working practice, about 6–8 minutes of slow, full-depth stirring, then a stir before every jug refill. Prove it with samples. How Long Should I Mix Fragrance Oil into a Large Batch of Wax so the First Candle and Last Candle Have the Same Fragrance Concentration? has the ladder.
The short answer
Method: Headroom, a paddle that reaches the base, oil added in a stream while stirring, slow full-depth stirring, a stir before each jug refill, candles numbered in pour order, and #1/#25/#50 sampled.
Quantities: 10 kg finished at 8%: 800 g oil + 9,200 g wax = 50 × 200 g. Material ₹13,505.80 with Lemongrass and Lime 1 kg and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 10 kg.
Equipment: Electric Wax Melter 20 kg ₹25,960.00 or 10 kg ₹21,240.00, Pouring Jug ₹531.00, Bamboo Stirring Sticks 5 for ₹118.00, Pen Thermometer ₹354.00, Weighing Scale ₹354.00, optional 4-nozzle funnel ₹1,888.00.
A 10 kg batch: headroom, paddle reach and three zones to keep even headroom above the batch for full-depth stirring top middle base Paddle must reach the base THE 10 KG ROUTINE 1 Weigh 9.2 kg wax and 800 g oil (8% of 10 kg) 2 Melt into the wax maker's window 3 Add the oil in a slow stream while stirring 4 Stir slowly at full depth: base, walls, centre 5 Stir before every jug refill; empty the jug 6 Number candles 1–50 in pour order 7 Sample #1, #25, #50 against a reference Times and intervals: labelled working practice Temperature: the wax maker's instructions
Left: the batch should fill the vessel only part-way, leaving headroom so a paddle can sweep the base, walls and centre without spilling. The three zones are where the oil has to end up equal. Right: the routine that keeps it equal through a long pour. Times and intervals are labelled working practice; the temperature comes from the wax maker's instructions.
Straight answer
I'm making 10 kg of scented wax at once. How do I ensure fragrance oil is distributed uniformly throughout the entire batch?
Get four things right. The maths: 10 kg of finished wax at 8% is 800 g of oil and 9,200 g of wax, which pours fifty 200 g candles with 16 g of oil each; adding 800 g to 10 kg of wax gives 10.8 kg at 7.41%. The vessel: choose one the batch fills only part-way, so you can stir to the base without spilling; a 10 kg batch fills a 10 kg-capacity melter to its stated capacity, while CSI's 20 kg Electric Wax Melter (₹25,960.00) leaves room, and two proven 5 kg batches are a valid alternative. The stir: bring the wax into the wax maker's window (for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, the maker's instructions; the only CSI figure on record is CSI's CSI 464 guidance, 80–90°C — confirm on the product page), add the oil in a slow stream while stirring, then stir slowly at full depth with a paddle that reaches the base — about 6–8 minutes as a labelled working practice. The pour: fifty candles take time, so stir before every jug refill and empty the jug each time. Then prove it: burn candles #1, #25 and #50 against a reference. With Lemongrass and Lime and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks the batch carries ₹13,505.80 of material, and the three samples ₹810.35.
One line: headroom, reach, a stir before every refill, and three numbered candles — that is uniformity at 10 kg.
The worked batch uses Lemongrass and Lime 1 kg at ₹5,200.00, one of the oils with a real kilo saving (11.9% per gram against the 100 g), and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 10 kg at ₹5,999.00. For a vessel with headroom, the Electric Wax Melter (20 kg capacity) is ₹25,960.00.

Get the 10 kg maths right first

Uniform distribution of the wrong amount of oil is still the wrong candle. Weigh the right quantities before you think about stirring.

CSI's convention, used across this series, is that load is a share of the finished weight. For 10,000 g of finished scented wax at 8%, that is 800 g of oil and 9,200 g of wax. The common mistake at this scale is to weigh a full 10 kg of wax and add 800 g of oil, which makes 10,800 g at 7.41%, and one extra batch's worth of candles you did not plan jars and wicks for. If you want to use a full 10 kg bag and hit a true 8%, add 869.57 g of oil. I'm Making 10 Kg of Scented Candles at 8% Fragrance Load — How Do I Calculate the Exact Wax and Fragrance Quantities Without Accidentally Making a 10.8 Kg Batch? works through both routes in full, and I'm Making a 1 Kg Soy Wax Batch at 8% Fragrance Load — Do I Add 80 g Fragrance Oil to 1 Kg Wax or Should the 8% be Calculated from the Total Finished Candle Weight? explains the convention.

8% of finished weight · Lemongrass and Lime 1 kg rate ₹5.20/g · Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹599.00/kg (10 kg ₹5,999.00)
Three ways to weigh a "10 kg at 8%" batch
Route Wax Oil Total True load Candles at 200 g
Finished-weight (CSI convention) 9,200 g 800 g 10,000 g 8.00% 50
800 g added to a full 10 kg of wax 10,000 g 800 g 10,800 g 7.41% 54
True 8% on a full 10 kg of wax 10,000 g 869.57 g 10,869.57 g 8.00% 54.35

Weighing 800 g of oil accurately matters as much as weighing the wax. Weigh it into a clean container on a scale whose capacity and readability suit the job; the capacity of our Candle Making Weighing Scale is not published in the data behind this page, so check the product page, and weigh in two portions if needed. Write the weights into the batch record before the oil goes anywhere near the wax.

Choosing the vessel

The vessel decides whether full-depth stirring is even possible. A batch that fills a vessel to the brim cannot be stirred properly without spilling, and a narrow, deep vessel puts the base far out of reach. The table compares the realistic options for 10 kg. Melter capacities are as listed on the product pages; whether a capacity refers to solid or melted wax, and how full a melter may safely be filled, is not in our data, so ask us before relying on either.

CSI prices from the 24–25 September 2026 catalogue pull · capacities as listed · throughput not published
Vessel options for one 10 kg batch
Option Price Fit for 10 kg Stirring Verdict
Electric Wax Melter, 20 kg capacity ₹25,960.00 Batch fills about half the stated capacity Room for a full-depth paddle Best fit for single 10 kg batches
Electric Wax Melter, 10 kg capacity ₹21,240.00 Batch equals the stated capacity Little or no headroom Better for two 5 kg batches; ask before filling to capacity
Mini Electric Wax Melter, 1 litre ₹2,360.00 Far too small for one batch Fine for tests Use for test batches, not 10 kg
A pot you own, on a double boiler ₹0.00 if owned Depends on size Depends on depth and paddle Workable; keep open flame away from the oil
Two 5 kg batches Same equipment Each well within capacity Easier to stir fully Valid alternative; verify each batch

The honest reading: if you will run single 10 kg batches regularly, the 20 kg melter is the size that leaves room to stir. If you already have the 10 kg melter, two 5 kg batches, each stirred and sampled, will usually give you more uniform candles than one 10 kg batch filled to the brim. If you are melting in a pot you already own, the vessel is fine as long as your paddle reaches the base and there is no open flame near the warm, scented wax.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The 20 kg melter is the most expensive item on this page, and we would sell more of them by telling you it is essential. It is not. Plenty of makers run excellent 10 kg days as two 5 kg batches in whatever vessel they already have. Buy the big melter when you run single 10 kg batches often enough that the time saved is worth ₹25,960.00 to you, not because a larger batch is automatically better.

The stirring method for 10 kg

At 10 kg, the stirrer matters more than the stirring time. A short stick in a deep melter can stir for ten minutes and never touch the base.

Everything in I Add Fragrance at the Correct Temperature but Only Stir for 20 Seconds — Could Inadequate Mixing be Causing Inconsistent Scent Throw? about slow, full-depth stirring applies here, with two additions at this scale. First, reach: the paddle or stick must reach the base of the vessel with your hand above the wax. Measure the depth of your vessel and check your stirrer against it. The length of our Bamboo Stirring Sticks is not published in our data, so check them against your vessel; for a deep melter you may need a longer paddle of your own. Second, pattern: at this volume, a single circular motion can set up a slow swirl that moves the whole batch round without mixing top and base. Break it up.

General candle-making practice for 10 kg · times are labelled working practice, not specifications
The 10 kg stirring sequence
Phase What you do Why Labelled working time
Oil in Pour the 800 g slowly into the centre while stirring Starts dispersal as the oil arrives Over about the time of several slow circuits
Base sweep Paddle flat along the base, edge to edge Lifts the densest, coolest layer into the flow Part of the main stir
Wall scrape Run the paddle round the walls, top to bottom Wax thickens first at the walls Part of the main stir
Figure-of-eight through the centre Slow, full depth, changing direction Breaks up the whole-batch swirl Part of the main stir
Main stir total All three, repeated Carries oil through all three zones About 6–8 minutes
Before each jug refill Short full-depth stir Keeps the batch even through the pour A few seconds to half a minute

Temperature runs alongside the whole sequence. For Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, follow the wax maker's instructions for melting, adding the oil and pouring; there is no CSI temperature on record for this wax, so ask us on WhatsApp if they are not on the product page. The only CSI figure on record is CSI's CSI 464 guidance, 80–90°C — confirm on the product page. Read the thermometer mid-melt after stirring, never at the base or wall. A large melter can hold heat for a long time, which helps keep the batch in the window through the pour, but also means oil sits hot for longer, so do not let the batch idle on the heat after it is mixed. I Added Fragrance Oil to Soy Wax While It Was Very Hot and the Finished Candle Smells Weak — Could Excessive Temperature Have Affected the Fragrance? covers why.

Weigh your jug once, then fill it the same each time
Weigh your empty pouring jug and mark on it the level that holds a known weight of wax, for example enough for a set number of 200 g candles. Filling to the same mark every time makes the pour predictable and makes it easy to stir the melter before each refill without losing count.

Keeping it even through fifty candles

Fifty candles take a while to pour, and the batch does not stand still while you do. The walls cool, and any oil that is not fully dispersed has time to move. A few simple rules keep the fiftieth candle like the first. They are general practice, and the intervals are labelled working practice.

1
Lay out all fifty jars before the oil goes inWick and centre every jar first, so the pour runs without pauses. A batch that waits while you hunt for jars is a batch that drifts.
2
Stir the melter before every jug refillA short, full-depth stir before each refill, reaching the base. It is the single most important habit in a long pour.
3
Empty the jug every timePour the jug empty before refilling it. Topping up a half-full jug can leave the same residue at its base all day. Wipe it if it starts to build up a wall of set wax.
4
Check the temperature at each refillRead the thermometer mid-melt. If the batch is drifting towards the cool edge of the wax maker's window, bring it back before you pour the next jug.
5
Number candles 1 to 50 as you pourOn the base or on a sticker. It turns any later complaint into a pour-position you can trace.
6
Consider a funnel for speedA Wax Pouring Funnel with 4 nozzles (₹1,888.00) fills several jars at once, which shortens the pour. Stir before filling it, exactly as you would a jug.
The jug that never empties. A maker pours a 10 kg day by topping up a half-full jug from the melter again and again, stirring the melter only at the start. The heavier, less-mixed wax from the base of the melter collects in the bottom of the jug and never quite leaves it, and the last candles of the day come from a jug that has been drifting for an hour. Stir the melter before every refill and pour the jug empty each time; the fix costs seconds per refill.
The CSI principle
At 10 kg, uniformity is a routine, not a moment.
A good initial stir makes the batch even at the start. What keeps it even is a routine repeated through the pour: stir before every refill, empty the jug, check the temperature, number the candles. Skip the routine and the first candle and the fiftieth are made from different batches that happen to share a melter.

The check: #1, #25 and #50

Uniformity has to be proven, not assumed. Set aside candles #1, #25 and #50 — the first, middle and last poured — plus one retained sample. At a labelled 7-day checkpoint, compare their cold throw with your approved reference candle. At a labelled 14-day checkpoint, burn them blind and score them. If all three match the reference, the batch is uniform. If #50 differs, add re-stirs or shorten the pour. If #1 differs, lengthen the initial stir. My First Candles from a Production Batch Smell Weaker than the Last Ones — Could the Fragrance Oil be Settling or Mixing Unevenly? covers the diagnosis in more depth, and What Actually Happens if I Add Fragrance Oil to Soy Wax at the Wrong Temperature Even When the Candle Looks Visually Normal? covers the faults that do not show until later.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and equipment, not finished candles. A page about 10 kg batches is an easy place to sell a large melter. This page says plainly that two proven 5 kg batches in the equipment you already have can do the job, and that the melter is worth buying for time saved, not as a requirement.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Melter, jug, stirring-stick and funnel prices come from the 24–25 September catalogue pull; wick, jar, thermometer and scale prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. The only temperature quoted is CSI's own guidance for CSI 464 (80–90°C melt and pour); confirm it on the product page. Melter throughput, fill limits, stick length and scale capacity are not published.

Frequently asked questions

How much fragrance oil do I need for 10 kg of candle wax?
For 10 kg of finished scented wax at 8%, 800 g of oil and 9,200 g of wax. If you use a full 10 kg of wax and want a true 8%, add 869.57 g. Adding 800 g to 10 kg of wax gives 7.41%. I'm Making 10 Kg of Scented Candles at 8% Fragrance Load — How Do I Calculate the Exact Wax and Fragrance Quantities Without Accidentally Making a 10.8 Kg Batch? has the full maths.
How do you mix fragrance oil into a large batch of wax evenly?
Add the oil in a slow stream while stirring, then stir slowly at full depth with a paddle that reaches the base, sweeping the base, scraping the walls and working a figure-of-eight through the centre. Stir again before every jug refill.
What size wax melter do I need for 10 kg batches?
One the batch fills only part-way, so you can stir to the base. CSI's Electric Wax Melter comes in 10 kg (₹21,240.00) and 20 kg (₹25,960.00) capacities; the 20 kg leaves headroom for a 10 kg batch. Ask us on WhatsApp how full each may be filled.
How long should I stir 10 kg of candle wax after adding fragrance?
As a labelled working practice, about 6–8 minutes of slow, full-depth stirring, plus a short stir before every jug refill. Prove it by comparing candles #1, #25 and #50. How Long Should I Mix Fragrance Oil into a Large Batch of Wax so the First Candle and Last Candle Have the Same Fragrance Concentration? has the full ladder by batch size.
Is it better to make one 10 kg batch or two 5 kg batches?
Two 5 kg batches are easier to stir fully in smaller equipment and each can be verified. One 10 kg batch saves time if your vessel has headroom and your routine passes the #1/#25/#50 check.
How do I check a 10 kg candle batch is consistent?
Number candles 1–50 in pour order, set aside #1, #25 and #50 plus a retained sample, and compare them with your approved reference at the same cure age — cold throw first, then a blind burn.

Non-price figures and assumptions: Load is the share of the finished candle weight (oil = W × L). The worked batch is 10,000 g at 8% (800 g oil + 9,200 g wax = 50 × 200 g). 800 g added to 10,000 g of wax is 7.41% of 10,800 g; a true 8% on 10,000 g of wax needs 869.57 g (wax × L ÷ (1 − L)). Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Stirring times, the refill routine and the 7- and 14-day checkpoints are labelled working practice, not specifications. Melter capacities are as listed; fill limits, throughput, stirring-stick length and scale capacity are not published. The only temperature quoted is CSI's own guidance for CSI 464, 80–90°C melt and pour; confirm on the product page. The Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ceiling (up to 13%) is the wax maker's stated formulation maximum, not a regulatory limit. Lemongrass and Lime's 11.9% and Verbena's 20.0% compare 1 kg and 100 g per-gram prices. Prices and availability change — the linked product pages are always authoritative.
