₹267.00
materials in one 200 g candle on your figures · ₹26,700.00 for a hundred · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What is the complete material cost of my 200 g candle? ₹267.00 on your figures: ₹120.00 of wax (200 g at your ₹600.00/kg), ₹72.00 of fragrance (16 g at 8% of wax weight, at your ₹4,500.00/kg), your ₹70.00 jar and your ₹5.00 wick. That is ₹1.24 per gram of the 216 g that goes into the jar.

What does a hundred of them cost? ₹26,700.00 of materials on your figures — ₹12,000.00 of wax, ₹7,200.00 of fragrance, ₹7,000.00 of jars and ₹500.00 of wicks — for 20.00 kg of wax, 1.60 kg of oil, 100 jars and 100 wicks.

What would the same candle cost built from CSI stock? ₹183.14 at September 2026 pricing: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg, Citronella Fragrance Oil at ₹2.89/g, the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap at ₹29.50 each in the 50-piece pack and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90. The CSI wick is dearer than yours; the other three lines are cheaper.

Does the 200 g mean wax or total fill? This page reads it as 200 g of wax, so the jar takes 216 g of fill and the bill is ₹267.00. Read as 200 g of total fill the same candle is ₹252.78, a difference of ₹14.22. Fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight throughout.
The short answer
₹267.00 a candle: ₹120.00 wax + ₹72.00 fragrance + ₹70.00 jar + ₹5.00 wick, on 200 g of wax at 8% of wax weight, 216 g into the jar.
₹26,700.00 for a hundred: 20.00 kg of wax, 1.60 kg of oil, 100 jars, 100 wicks. Materials only — labels, boxes, courier and your hours are not in it.
₹183.14 on CSI stock: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at the 5 kg pack, Citronella Fragrance Oil at 1 kg, the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap at the 50-piece rate and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) — a hundred candles of materials for ₹18,313.60.

What it shows: each line of a hundred-candle batch drawn twice on one rupee scale — what the candles consume, and what CSI's pack sizes make you order. Wax, jars and wicks come out level because the batch happens to need whole packs; the fragrance line does not, so ₹1,156.40 of oil stays in the cupboard as 400 g of stock. Prices are live CSI figures for September 2026. Deliberately left out: labels, boxes, mailers, courier to your customer, gateway fees, power and your own hours — none is a CSI cost and none is guessed at here.
Straight answer
What does one 200 g candle cost in materials when the jar, wick, wax and fragrance prices are all known?
On the figures in your question, ₹267.00. The wax is 200 g at your ₹600.00 a kilogram, which is ₹120.00. A fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight, so at 8% — the working load this page uses, because your question does not name one — the oil is 16 g and at your ₹4,500.00 a kilogram that is ₹72.00. Add your ₹70.00 jar and your ₹5.00 wick and the materials bill is ₹267.00 for a candle holding 216 g of fill, or ₹1.24 a gram. A hundred of them is ₹26,700.00, which in quantities is 20.00 kg of wax, 1.60 kg of oil, 100 jars and 100 wicks. Built instead from CSI stock in September 2026 — Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at the 5 kg pack, Citronella Fragrance Oil at 1 kg, the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap at the 50-piece rate and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) — the same recipe is ₹183.14 a candle and ₹18,313.60 for a hundred, with the jar line accounting for ₹40.50 of the ₹83.86 difference and the wick line running ₹0.90 the other way. The order you would place to make that batch is ₹19,470.00, because oil comes in 1 kg bottles and the batch needs 1.60 kg: the extra 400 g is stock, not cost. Everything past the four material lines — label, box, mailer, ribbon, courier to your customer, gateway fee, power, rent and your own hours — is real, is not sold by CSI, and stays as a blank row in the worksheet at the end of this page.
One line: ₹267.00 a candle and ₹26,700.00 a hundred on your figures; ₹183.14 and ₹18,313.60 on live CSI materials.
₹267.00 a candle on your figures, ₹26,700.00 a hundred. ₹120.00 of wax, ₹72.00 of fragrance at 8% of wax weight, your ₹70.00 jar and your ₹5.00 wick. The same candle built from CSI stock at September 2026 prices is ₹183.14, and a hundred of them is ₹18,313.60 of materials.

Your four lines, added up once and properly

You have given every input a candle actually has. That is rarer than it sounds, and it means this answer needs no estimates at all.

Most costing questions arrive with a hole in them. Yours does not: a jar at ₹70.00, a wick at ₹5.00, wax at ₹600.00 a kilogram and fragrance at ₹4,500.00 a kilogram is the entire materials bill of a container candle, and the only thing left to do is decide how many grams of each go in and multiply. Those four figures are yours throughout this page. They are never presented as CSI prices, never rounded and never corrected.

At 200 g of wax with a fragrance load of 8% of wax weight, one candle takes 200 g of wax and 16 g of oil, which is 216 g of fill in the jar. Priced on your figures: wax ₹120.00, fragrance ₹72.00, jar ₹70.00, wick ₹5.00. The total is ₹267.00, or ₹1.24 per gram of finished candle. Nothing else is inside that number, and the rest of this page is about what that means.

The bill
One 200 g candle on the figures in your question
Line Quantity Your rate Cost Share
Wax 200 g ₹600.00 per kg ₹120.00 44.9%
Fragrance oil 16 g at 8% of wax weight ₹4,500.00 per kg ₹72.00 27.0%
Jar 1 ₹70.00 each ₹70.00 26.2%
Wick 1 ₹5.00 each ₹5.00 1.9%
Materials, one candle 216 g of fill — ₹267.00 100%
Priced above: your own figures, used exactly as your question states them — jar ₹70.00, wick ₹5.00, wax ₹600.00 per kg, fragrance ₹4,500.00 per kg. None of these is a CSI price. Shares are rounded to one decimal place and may not add to exactly 100.
The CSI principle
A material cost is four multiplications and one addition. The judgement is all in the grams.
200 g of wax and 16 g of oil at 8% of wax weight, plus one jar and one wick: ₹267.00.

Which 200 g, and the load your question does not give

Two things have to be pinned down before any of this arithmetic is honest. Here they are, pinned.

The fill reading carried through every table on this page is 200 g of wax. A fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight — that is how CSI's wax pages state their ceilings — so 200 g of wax at 8% carries 16 g of oil and 216 g goes into the jar. Read the other way, as 200 g of total fill, the same candle is 185.19 g of wax and 14.81 g of oil and the bill comes to ₹252.78 instead of ₹267.00, a difference of ₹14.22. Both are defensible; only one can be in your spreadsheet. This page uses the first and says so wherever a number depends on it.

The load is the series default, because your question does not name one. 8% of wax weight is the working figure used here. If your recipe runs at a different load, only the fragrance line moves: at your ₹4,500.00 a kilogram, every extra percentage point on 200 g of wax adds 2 g of oil and ₹9.00 to the candle. Everything else on the sheet is untouched.

Whichever load you settle on, check it against the two stated ceilings that apply to your own materials: the wax grade's stated maximum and the fragrance oil page's stated candle range. The lower of the two governs. On the CSI pair used later in this page, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 states up to 10% of total wax weight and Citronella Fragrance Oil states up to 10%, so 10% governs and your 8% sits under it. These are the manufacturers' stated formulation maximums, not rules imposed from outside; MSDS and IFRA documentation is available on request on WhatsApp.

You costed 200 g of wax and sold a 216 g candle as a 200 g candle. The fill in the jar is wax plus oil, so a recipe of 200 g of wax at 8% pours 216 g. If your label says 200 g net, either the label or the recipe has to move — and if you shrink the recipe to make the label true, your materials cost per candle falls to ₹252.78 and your per-gram cost rises. Decide which number is the promise, then cost that one.

The same candle, line by line, on CSI materials

A cost sheet you cannot buy from is an opinion. This one is a shopping list with prices attached.

Here is the identical recipe — 200 g of wax, 16 g of oil, one jar, one wick — built from stock on the CSI store in September 2026: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at the 5 kg pack, Citronella Fragrance Oil at the 1 kg bottle, the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap at the 50-piece pack and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at the 100 pack. It comes to ₹183.14 against your ₹267.00, a gap of ₹83.86 a candle and ₹8,386.40 across a hundred.

Live September 2026 prices, taxes included. Your four figures are used exactly as given.

Read the last column honestly, because one row runs against us. The CSI wick is ₹0.90 more than yours: Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) is ₹5.90 each and your wick is ₹5.00. Whether the difference buys you anything is a burn-test question, not a costing one, and this page will not pretend the arithmetic answers it. The other three rows go the other way, and the jar is the biggest of them at ₹40.50 a candle — glass bought in 50s is simply a different price from glass bought in fives.

Two vessel notes belong here. The 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap is sold in packs of 5, 50 and 100, and the per-piece price falls from ₹40.12 in the 5-pack to ₹29.50 in the 50-piece and 100-piece packs — a real step, and the sort worth checking on any vessel before you commit a batch. CSI does not publish a fill weight for it, so this page prices it per piece and makes no claim that a 216 g pour fits it. Test one jar with your own wax before you buy a hundred.

One candle to one hundred

Multiplying by a hundred is the easy part. Believing the answer is the part that needs a second look.

A hundred candles on your figures is ₹26,700.00 of materials: ₹12,000.00 of wax, ₹7,200.00 of fragrance, ₹7,000.00 of jars and ₹500.00 of wicks. Those are the four numbers to carry into a purchase order. In quantity terms it is 20.00 kg of wax, 1.60 kg of oil, 100 jars and 100 wicks — and quantities, not rupees, are what you actually order.

Quantities assume no wastage, which is an assumption and not measured data.

Put a wastage line under that total rather than inside it. Wax left in the jug, oil clinging to the bottle, a jar that chips, a candle with a sinkhole you cannot rescue — pick a percentage you can defend from your own pour records, apply it as its own row, and label it an assumption. A sheet that hides wastage inside the unit cost cannot tell you later whether your process is improving.

What the batch consumes against what you have to buy

Nobody sells you 1.6 kg of fragrance oil. Pack sizes are the reason your bank statement never matches your cost sheet.

Your hundred candles consume ₹18,313.60 of CSI materials. The order you place to make them is ₹19,470.00, because materials come in packs: 4 packs of 5 kg wax (20 kg, exactly what you need), 2 bottles of 1 kg oil against 1.60 kg needed, 2 packs of 50 jars and 1 pack of 100 wicks. The difference, ₹1,156.40, is not a cost of this batch. It is 400 g of oil sitting in your cupboard — 25 more candles' worth — and it belongs on your stock sheet, not on this one.

ORDER-VALUE DISCOUNTS ARE NOT QUANTITY BREAKS
CSI publishes three spend-based codes: HAPPY5 for 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 for 8% over ₹12,000 and YAY10 for 10% over ₹20,000. They discount the order value, not the rate per kilogram. This ₹19,470.00 order clears the ₹12,000 threshold, so 8% is ₹1,557.60 and the order nets ₹17,912.40. It sits ₹530.00 short of the ₹20,000 threshold; spending that much and taking 10% would net ₹18,000.00 — ₹87.60 more to pay, in return for more stock. Decide which of those you want before you check out.

What this order will not get you is a lower price per kilogram for buying more of the same thing. On the CSI store, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is the same ₹507.40 a kilogram at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg. Seven of the thirteen waxes are flat that way at every pack size; two have a genuine step down at 5 kg, and three cost more per kilogram in the larger pack than the smaller. On fragrance oils the meaningful step is from the 15 g sample to the 50 g bottle, and from 50 g upward most oils hold the same rate per gram. Check the ladder printed on the page you are buying from and treat any other claim with suspicion.

The saving that is arithmetic rather than folklore is freight. A 5 kg pack of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 stores a packed weight of 6.0 kg, and the cheapest published band covering it is ₹630.00 on Standard Shipping. Four of them ordered one at a time come to ₹2,520.00; the same 24 kg in one consignment falls in a band published at ₹2,000.00 on Expedited Shipping, a difference of ₹520.00. Rates are as published in September 2026, are set by the store and can change, and there is no free-shipping threshold anywhere on the store.

You planned the freight on the label weight instead of the packed weight. A 1 kg bottle of Citronella Fragrance Oil stores a packed weight of 1.5 kg, and a 50-piece pack of the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap stores 53 kg — glass is heavy and the store's rates are charged on weight bands. A full hundred-candle order like the one above weighs far more than the store's published bands cover: nothing above 50 kg has a published rate at all, so a batch order of jars is a WhatsApp conversation, not a checkout button. Ask before you plan the money.

The worksheet, with the blanks left blank

The honest sheet has empty cells in it. A sheet with a number in every row is usually a sheet with a guess in it.

Here is the whole thing as a form you can copy. The top block is materials, and every figure in it comes either from your question or from a CSI product page. The bottom block is everything CSI does not sell — and every one of those rows stays empty until you put your own figure in it. CSI will not print a typical value for a label or a courier charge, because there is no honest one to print.

Every your figure cell is deliberately empty.
1
Fix the grams before the rupees. Write down wax grams and the load with its unit — 200 g of wax at 8% of wax weight — and the oil grams fall out at 16 g. Do this once and every later multiplication is safe.
2
Convert every pack to a unit rate. Wax to rupees per kilogram, oil to rupees per gram, jars and wicks to rupees per piece. Use the pack you will actually buy: the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap is ₹29.50 a piece in the 50-pack and ₹40.12 a piece in the 5-pack, and using the wrong one moves your candle by ₹10.62.
3
Add the four lines, then multiply by the batch. ₹267.00 a candle becomes ₹26,700.00 for a hundred on your figures, ₹18,313.60 on CSI stock. Keep both the per candle and the per batch figure; you will need the first for pricing and the second for ordering.
4
Convert the batch into packs, then place the order. 20.00 kg of wax is 4 packs of 5 kg; 1.60 kg of oil is 2 bottles of 1 kg with 400 g spare. The order is ₹19,470.00, the batch uses ₹18,313.60, and the difference stays in stock.

Four ways a batch sheet quietly lies to you

None of these is a mistake in the arithmetic. All of them are mistakes in what the arithmetic is about.

The pack you priced is not the pack you bought. A sheet built on a 5 kg wax rate and a 1 kg oil rate describes an order of that size. If your actual purchase was two 500 g bags and a 100 g bottle, the sheet is describing someone else's candle. Re-price the sheet whenever the pack size you buy changes, and keep the pack size written in the cell next to the rate.

The batch is a hundred candles, but the order is one order. Freight, in particular, does not divide neatly: it is charged on published weight bands, so it moves in steps rather than per candle. Treat the delivery charge as a cost of the order, allocate it across the candles that order produces, and say in your notes that you have done so.

Tax is included in the price, and your own position is your own. CSI store prices are inclusive of applicable taxes and GST invoicing is available, which is all this page can usefully say. What that means for your input credit, your registration or your pricing is a question for your accountant, not for a costing guide.

Materials are not the cost of the candle. ₹183.14 buys the things that go in the jar. It does not buy the label on it, the box around it, the courier that takes it to Bengaluru or the two hours you spent pouring and cleaning. Every business that prices from the materials line alone discovers this at scale, usually in the week after a festival rush.

You multiplied a rounded candle cost by a hundred. ₹183.14 a candle is rounded to the paisa; the unrounded figure is a hair different, and multiplied by a hundred that rounding shows up as a few rupees. Multiply first and round last — the batch figure on this page is ₹18,313.60, computed from the unrounded lines, not ₹18,314.00 from a rounded one.
THE FIGURES TO WRITE ON THE WALL
₹267.00 per candle and ₹1.24 per gram of finished candle, on your own figures. The first is what you compare a wholesale enquiry against; the second is what lets you re-cost any other size you pour without starting again. On CSI stock the same pair is ₹183.14 and ₹0.85.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials — wax, fragrance oils, wicks, vessels and tools — not finished candles. The honest part of this page, and the part that works against our own sales interest: one of the four lines on your sheet is already cheaper than ours. Your ₹5.00 wick beats the Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90, and whether the difference buys you a better burn is a test you should run rather than a claim we should make.

Every CSI rupee figure here is a live price read in September 2026, taxes included, and every derived figure is the arithmetic of those prices and your four numbers. Where a specification is not published this page says so: CSI publishes no fill weight for the vessel used, so no claim is made that a given pour fits it. Shipping figures are the store's published weight bands as at September 2026, nothing above 50 kg has a published rate, and there is no free-shipping threshold. Product pages remain authoritative on price, stock and specification.

For bulk pricing on a batch order, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation, or help sizing a wick to the vessel you have chosen, message CSI on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 with your candle size, load and batch quantity.

Frequently asked questions

Should the jar really be 26% of my candle cost?
On your figures the jar is ₹70.00 of ₹267.00, which is 26.2% of the materials bill — the second largest line after the wax. That is ordinary for a 200 g container candle in India, where glass is heavy and bought in small packs. The same jar line on CSI's 50-piece pack rate would be ₹29.50.
What if I use 10% fragrance instead of 8%?
Only the fragrance line moves. On 200 g of wax, 10% is 20 g rather than 16 g, so at your ₹4,500.00 a kilogram the oil costs ₹90.00 instead of ₹72.00 and the candle becomes ₹285.00. Check the load against the lower of your wax's stated maximum and your oil page's stated candle range.
How much wax and oil do I need to order for 100 candles?
20.00 kg of wax and 1.60 kg of oil at 200 g and 16 g per candle. In CSI packs that is 4 packs of 5 kg Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 and 2 bottles of 1 kg Citronella Fragrance Oil, leaving 400 g of oil spare — about 25 more candles' worth.
Does buying 10 kg of wax instead of 5 kg make it cheaper per candle?
Not on this grade. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilogram at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg alike, so the wax line stays ₹101.48 whichever of those you order. Across the store, seven of thirteen waxes hold one rate at every pack size, two step down at 5 kg and three are dearer per kilogram in the bigger pack. What ordering in one consignment does change is freight.
Why is the order total higher than the batch cost?
Because packs do not match batches. The batch consumes ₹18,313.60 of materials; the order costs ₹19,470.00 because 1.60 kg of oil means buying two 1 kg bottles. The ₹1,156.40 difference is 400 g of oil in stock, worth about 25 more candles, and it belongs on your stock sheet rather than in this batch's cost.
What should I charge for this candle?
That is your decision and this page will not make it. What it gives you is the floor: ₹267.00 of materials on your figures, plus your own blank rows for label, box, courier, fees, power and time. Whatever price you set has to clear the total of those, and any margin example you see quoted anywhere — including on CSI pages — is illustrative, not a recommendation.

Figures verified September 2026 (CSI live pricing). Series convention: fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight, so the costing unit on this page is 200 g of wax plus 16 g of oil at 8%, 216 g poured; the load is not stated in the question and 8% is the series default, stated in the visible text; the alternative reading of 200 g of total fill (185.19 g wax + 14.81 g oil, ₹252.78) is priced once for comparison. Live CSI prices, September 2026, taxes included. Wax: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 500 g ₹260.00 (₹520.00/kg), 1 kg ₹507.40 (₹507.40/kg), 5 kg ₹2,537.00 (₹507.40/kg), 10 kg ₹5,074.00 (₹507.40/kg); the product page gives 80–90°C as the working range for melting and pouring, states a maximum fragrance load of up to 10% of total wax weight and a shelf life of 60 months in cool, dry storage. Fragrance: Citronella Fragrance Oil 15 gm ₹141.60 (₹9.44/g), 50 gm ₹383.50 (₹7.67/g), 100 gm ₹767.00 (₹7.67/g), 500 gm ₹1,475.00 (₹2.95/g), 1 kg ₹2,891.00 (₹2.89/g); the page states candle use up to 10% of total wax weight, a flash point of 132°C and 0% vanillin. Vessel: 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap 5 pieces ₹200.60 (₹40.12 each), 50 pieces ₹1,475.00 (₹29.50 each), 100 pieces ₹2,950.00 (₹29.50 each); no fill weight is published for it, so no capacity is claimed on this page. Wick: Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 100 for ₹590.00 (₹5.90 each, the same rate at the 10, 20, 50, 500 and 1000 packs); Thick (C2) ₹9.44 each. Shipping: the 5 kg wax pack stores a packed weight of 6.0 kg, the 1 kg oil bottle 1.5 kg, the 50-piece jar pack 53 kg and the 100-wick pack 0.2 kg; the cheapest published band covering 6.0 kg is ₹630.00 on Standard Shipping and the band covering 24 kg is ₹2,000.00 on Expedited Shipping, both as published in September 2026; nothing above 50 kg has a published rate and there is no free-shipping threshold on the store. Published order-value discount codes quoted: HAPPY5 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 8% over ₹12,000, YAY10 10% over ₹20,000 — these discount order value, not rate per kilogram. Assumptions: every quantity assumes zero wastage, which is an assumption and not measured data, and no retail price or margin is suggested anywhere on this page.
