My Soy Wax Costs ₹650 Per Kg in a 1 Kg Pack but ₹550 Per Kg in a 10 Kg Pack — How Much Does My Cost Per 200 g Candle Fall if I Buy Bulk?
शेयर करना
Would I get the same step at CSI? No, and it is worth saying plainly. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilogram in the 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg packs alike — the same rate — so moving from 1 kg to 10 kg changes the wax in your candle by ₹0.00. Its 500 g pack is dearer, at ₹520.00 a kilogram. CSI publishes no quantity-discount ladder across the range.
Is there any CSI wax where the rate does fall? Two. Natural Soy Pearl Wax goes from ₹450.00 a kilogram at 1 kg to ₹424.80 at 5 kg and above, worth ₹5.04 on a 200 g candle. Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 goes from ₹650.00 to ₹637.00 at 5 kg, worth ₹2.60. Both are a fraction of the ₹20.00 your question assumes.
So where is the real saving in buying bigger? Freight. Ten 1 kg packs of CSI 464 bought as ten separate orders bill at ₹1,800.00 on the published bands; one 10 kg pack bills at ₹1,200.00. That is ₹600.00, or ₹12.00 a candle across 50 candles — more than any published wax rate step on the store. Rates are the September 2026 flat bands and can change.
₹20.00 a candle: the arithmetic on your two rates
Start with the only thing in your question that is genuinely yours: ₹650.00 a kilogram in the 1 kg pack and ₹550.00 a kilogram in the 10 kg pack. Those are your supplier's figures, used here exactly as you wrote them, unrounded, and never presented as CSI prices. The step between them is ₹100.00 a kilogram. A 200 g candle holds 0.2 of a kilogram of wax, so the step lands as ₹20.00 on each candle. That is the whole answer to the question as asked, and everything else on this page is about whether that answer is the useful one.
It is worth seeing it inside a candle rather than on its own, because a wax rate is rarely the biggest line. Take your 200 g of wax, put 16 g of fragrance on it at 8% of wax weight — the convention this series uses, and the one CSI product pages state loads in — and add a wick. Priced with Mango Coconut Fragrance Oil at the 1 kg rate of ₹3.96 a gram and an Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90, the candle costs ₹199.32 at your higher wax rate and ₹179.32 at your lower one. The wax rate moved by 15.38%. The candle moved by 10.03%. No vessel is priced into that figure, because your question did not name one and this page will not invent a jar or claim a fill fits it.
| Line | Quantity | At your ₹650.00/kg | At your ₹550.00/kg | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soy wax | 200 g | ₹130.00 | ₹110.00 | ₹20.00 |
| Fragrance — Mango Coconut at 1 kg | 16 g (8% of wax weight) | ₹63.42 | ₹63.42 | ₹0.00 |
| Wick — Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) | 1 | ₹5.90 | ₹5.90 | ₹0.00 |
| Materials in one candle | 216 g of fill | ₹199.32 | ₹179.32 | ₹20.00 |
| Per gram of what goes in the jar | 216 g | ₹0.92/g | ₹0.83/g | — |
| Across 100 candles | 20 kg of wax | — | — | ₹2,000.00 |
| Cash on the day you buy | 1 kg against 10 kg | ₹650.00 | ₹5,500.00 | ₹4,850.00 more |
One more thing about the cash line, because it is the one most makers skip. The 10 kg pack at your lower rate costs ₹5,500.00 against ₹650.00 for a single kilogram. You are committing ₹4,850.00 today to collect ₹1,000.00 spread across the next 50 candles. If those 50 candles take a month, that is a good trade. If they take six months and you were going to test three other fragrances in the meantime, it is a worse one, and no arithmetic on this page can make that call for you.
What CSI's wax ladders actually do
A page that answered your question and stopped would leave you expecting a ladder here that does not exist. CSI publishes no quantity-discount ladder across its wax range. On Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 the 1 kg pack, the 5 kg pack and the 10 kg pack are all ₹507.40 a kilogram, which is ₹101.48 of wax in a 200 g candle whichever you buy. The 500 g pack is the one that differs, and it differs upwards: ₹520.00 a kilogram, or ₹104.00 a candle. The entire movement available on that grade is ₹2.52 a candle, and it is collected by moving off the smallest pack, not onto the largest.
Two grades do have a rung that falls, and both fall at 5 kg. Natural Soy Pearl Wax is ₹450.00 a kilogram at 1 kg and ₹424.80 at 5 kg and above — a fall of ₹25.20 a kilogram, or ₹5.04 on a 200 g candle, the largest published wax step on the store. Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 is ₹650.00 at 500 g and 1 kg and ₹637.00 at 5 kg and 10 kg, a fall of ₹13.00 a kilogram or ₹2.60 a candle. Set the biggest of those against the ₹20.00 your question assumes and the gap speaks for itself.
And at least one grade moves the other way. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks is ₹598.00 a kilogram in the 500 g pack and ₹599.90 in the 10 kg pack, so the wax in a 200 g candle goes from ₹119.60 to ₹119.98 as the pack grows — ₹0.38 more, not less. That is not a criticism of the wax, which is a 13% load grade with its own reasons for being chosen. It is a reminder that the only safe way to know what a pack does to your cost is to divide the pack price by the grams in it, every time, for the grade you actually buy.
| Grade | 500 g | 1 kg | 5 kg | 10 kg | Best available step, per candle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 | ₹104.00 | ₹101.48 | ₹101.48 | ₹101.48 | ₹2.52, and only off the 500 g pack |
| Luxury Soy Wax Chunks | ₹119.60 | ₹119.80 | ₹119.80 | ₹119.98 | none — ₹0.38 dearer at 10 kg than at 500 g |
| Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 | ₹130.00 | ₹130.00 | ₹127.40 | ₹127.40 | ₹2.60 at 5 kg |
| Natural Soy Pearl Wax | not published | ₹90.00 | ₹84.96 | ₹84.96 | ₹5.04 at 5 kg |
| Your supplier, as stated in your question | — | ₹130.00 | — | ₹110.00 | ₹20.00 |
Where buying bigger genuinely pays: the courier bill
CSI charges flat rates by weight band, and a parcel bills on its stored packed weight rather than the number on the label. The 1 kg pack of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 carries a stored packed weight of 1.5 kg; the 10 kg pack carries 11.0 kg. That single fact is where the bulk saving on this store actually lives, and it is larger than any wax rate step published anywhere on it.
Buy ten kilograms of that wax a kilogram at a time, ten separate orders across ten weeks, and each parcel falls in the 1–2 kg band at ₹180.00. Ten of them come to ₹1,800.00. Buy the same ten kilograms as one 10 kg pack and the parcel falls in the 10–15 kg band at ₹1,200.00. The difference is ₹600.00, which across the 50 candles that wax makes is ₹12.00 a candle. Compare that with the largest published wax rate step on the store, ₹5.04 a candle, and the ranking is not close. Rates are the published flat bands as at September 2026 and the store can change them.
Now the part that stops this being a simple slogan. Ten 1 kg packs ordered together weigh 15.0 kg packed and fall in the same 10–15 kg band as the 10 kg pack, at ₹1,200.00. So the ₹600.00 is not a reward for choosing a big pack. It is a reward for placing one order instead of ten, and you can collect it while still buying small packs — which matters if you are testing a grade, or if your storage cannot take a 10 kg sack in a Mumbai monsoon. The pack size and the order size are two different decisions, and only one of them is where the money is.
| How you order it | Packed weight billed | Band that covers it | Total | Per candle over 50 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ten 1 kg packs, ten separate orders | 1.5 kg, ten times | 1–2 kg Standard, ₹180.00 each | ₹1,800.00 | ₹36.00 |
| Ten 1 kg packs, one order | 15.0 kg | 10–15 kg Standard | ₹1,200.00 | ₹24.00 |
| Two 5 kg packs, one order | 12.0 kg | 10–15 kg Standard | ₹1,200.00 | ₹24.00 |
| One 10 kg pack | 11.0 kg | 10–15 kg Standard | ₹1,200.00 | ₹24.00 |
| One 10 kg pack plus a 1 kg Mango Coconut, together | 12.5 kg | 10–15 kg Standard | ₹1,200.00 | — |
| The same two, ordered a fortnight apart | 11.0 kg and 1.5 kg | 10–15 kg and 1–2 kg Standard | ₹1,380.00 | — |
The last two rows are the quiet one. A 10 kg wax pack and a 1 kg bottle of oil, sent together, weigh 12.5 kg packed and stay inside the same 10–15 kg band as the wax alone — so the oil travels for ₹0.00. Split them across two orders a fortnight apart and you pay ₹1,380.00 instead of ₹1,200.00. That is ₹180.00, or ₹3.60 a candle, for nothing more than writing the list before you open the shop rather than after.
Check the direction before you consolidate
Every guide that mentions freight says to consolidate. The published bands say it is not always true, and the place it stops being true is sharp enough to be worth a paragraph. Standard Shipping covers weights up to 15 kg. Above that the cheapest covering band on the store is an Expedited one, and the jump is steep. So a consignment that creeps over 15 kg packed can cost more than the same goods sent as two parcels that each stay under it.
Work it on real weights. Suppose you want 15 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, bought as one 10 kg pack and one 5 kg pack. The 10 kg pack stores 11.0 kg packed and the 5 kg pack stores 6.0 kg, so together they present 17.0 kg to the courier. The cheapest published band covering 17.0 kg is the 15–20 kg Expedited one at ₹2,400.00. Send them as two consignments and the 11.0 kg parcel bills ₹1,200.00 and the 6.0 kg parcel ₹630.00 — ₹1,830.00 for the pair. Splitting is ₹570.00 cheaper than combining, which across the 75 candles 15 kg of wax makes is ₹7.60 a candle. Every figure there is a published September 2026 band; none of it is an estimate.
What the 10 kg pack asks of you
On your figures the 10 kg pack collects ₹1,000.00 and costs ₹4,850.00 more on the day. That is a return of a little over twenty per cent on the extra cash, but only if you convert every one of the 50 candles. Convert half of them and you have collected ₹500.00 while ₹2,750.00 of wax sits on a shelf; the arithmetic is still positive, but the cash is not available for the jar order or the festive fragrance you had not planned.
Wax keeps better than most raw materials, which helps. The Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 page states a shelf life of 60 months in cool, dry storage, away from sunlight and moisture — a longer horizon than any realistic sales plan. The risk with a deep wax buy is therefore not spoilage but commitment: you have decided which grade you are making candles from until it is gone. If you are still comparing grades, or still testing whether a 13% load wax suits your fragrances, a 10 kg sack settles the argument for you in a way you may not want. Buy the pack that matches the decision you have actually made.
Indian storage adds one practical note that no ladder shows. Soy in an open sack in a coastal August takes on moisture and clumps; in a Delhi May a sealed drum in a west-facing room runs warm enough to soften. Neither ruins wax, but both make a 10 kg pack harder to work with than five 2 kg portions would be. If you buy deep, decant into sealed containers you can lift, and keep them off the floor. That costs nothing and protects the ₹1,000.00 you just bought.
| Candles you sell a month | Months to use 10 kg | Your step collected by then | Cash still in wax at month one |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 5.0 | ₹200.00 a month | ₹4,400.00 |
| 25 | 2.0 | ₹500.00 a month | ₹2,750.00 |
| 50 | 1.0 | ₹1,000.00 a month | ₹0.00 |
| 100 | 0.5 | ₹1,000.00 in a fortnight | ₹0.00 |
What this comparison deliberately leaves out
Everything above is wax, fragrance, a wick and a courier band. CSI sells the first three and publishes the fourth, so all four can be quoted. Nothing in the list below is a CSI product, which means there is no honest figure for it on this page. Copy the rows, put your own numbers in them, and total the sheet as materials from CSI plus your own costs — never as one blended figure with a guess buried in it.
| Line | Why it is blank | Your figure |
|---|---|---|
| Vessel | Your question named no jar, and this page will not pick one for you or claim a fill fits it | — |
| Label, printing and care sticker artwork | Not a CSI cost | — |
| Outer box, mailer, void fill | Not a CSI product | — |
| Courier to your own customer | CSI publishes rates for delivering to you, not for your outbound parcels | — |
| Payment gateway or marketplace fee | Not a CSI product and varies by platform | — |
| Storage for a 10 kg pack | Not a CSI cost, and easy to forget until the sack arrives | — |
| Electricity, melting time, your labour | Not a CSI product | — |
| Wastage allowance | An assumption, not a measurement — set your own after a full batch | — |
| Wax, fragrance and wick, at your lower rate | The three lines above that can be priced | ₹179.32 |
One of those blanks deserves a sentence, because it is the one this page has been circling. Freight to you is not blank — the store publishes it, and this page has quoted it — but freight from you to your customer is, and it is usually the larger of the two. A maker who consolidates their raw-material orders and then ships every candle individually has optimised the smaller half of the problem. The method is the same in both directions: find the band, add the packed weights, and check whether two parcels beat one before you assume they do not.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells wax by the kilogram, and this page still tells you that the quantity step your question assumes does not exist here: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is the same ₹507.40 a kilogram at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg, and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks puts ₹0.38 more into a candle from its largest pack than from its smallest. The two grades whose rate does fall, Natural Soy Pearl Wax and Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468, fall by ₹5.04 and ₹2.60 a candle respectively. Buying a grade you have not burn-tested because its ladder looks better is a worse decision than paying the flat rate on the grade you know.
Every CSI price here is live stock in September 2026, taxes included, and the linked product pages are authoritative if anything changes. The ₹650.00 and ₹550.00 per kilogram rates are yours, taken from your question, used unrounded and never presented as CSI prices. Fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight as CSI product pages state it, and the fill reading carried throughout is 200 g of wax plus 16 g of oil, 216 g poured; 8% sits inside the stated maximum of 10% for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 and inside the 6–10% soy range stated on the Mango Coconut Fragrance Oil page, and where a wax ceiling and an oil range differ the lower governs. Shipping figures are the published flat weight bands as at September 2026, applied to the stored packed weight of each variant; they are merchant-set and can change, no free-shipping threshold is published, and no delivery time, courier or per-city estimate is given here. The sales rates in the cover table are illustrative and the page assumes zero wastage, which is an assumption and not measured data. Labels, boxes, outbound courier, gateway fees, storage, electricity and labour are not CSI products and are left blank.
