A basket discount is only a discount on the part of the basket you wanted. Here is the equation that separates the two, run on five real oils.
82.9%
of the added scents you must pour before a 10% basket discount pays · about 104 candles · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How do I tell whether the 10% is worth it? One line: you must eventually use more than (1 − d) − dC ÷ A of the added oil, where d is the discount, C is what you were buying anyway and A is what the offer makes you add. On a five-oil basket of ₹33,289.60 in live CSI stock, with ₹13,791.60 committed and ₹19,498.00 added, that comes to 82.9% — about 104 candles of the slow scents at 16 g each.

What is the discount actually worth to me? ₹1,379.16, not ₹3,328.96. The rest of the headline figure is a lower price on oils you did not want. Against that ₹1,379.16 you are committing ₹17,548.20 of cash to stock with no orders behind it.

Is there a way to qualify without the risk? Yes — meet the count with small packs. The same two scents in 100 g packs are ₹1,948.00 of added spend instead of ₹19,498.00, which drops the required use to 19.2%. Anything you add below ₹1,532.40 on this basket is worth taking even if it is never poured.

Does CSI have an equivalent offer? CSI publishes three codes — HAPPY5 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 8% over ₹12,000 and YAY10 10% over ₹20,000. They are order-value discounts, not quantity breaks: they depend on the basket's rupee value, not on variety or pack size, so you can reach them with wax and wicks you will certainly use. CSI publishes no per-kilogram quantity ladder.
The short answer
The discount is ₹3,328.96: but only ₹1,379.16 of it is new money, because the rest is a lower price on the two scents the offer made you add. Those cost ₹17,548.20 after the discount.
You must pour 82.9% of the added oil: that is 1,659 g, or roughly 104 candles at 16 g each, before the discounted basket beats buying only what you needed. Below that line it is a loss.
Qualify small, buy big only on what sells: the same two scents in 100 g packs cut the added spend to ₹1,948.00 and the required use to 19.2%. CSI's own codes are order-value based, so you can reach them with wax and wicks instead of variety.

What it shows: two baskets that both earn the same 10%, drawn on one rupee scale from live CSI prices in September 2026. Basket A is five oils at 1 kg each, ₹33,289.60, of which ₹19,498.00 is two slow-moving scents added to meet a five-oil condition. Basket B reaches the same discount band with three moving oils, two 10 kg packs of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 and a 500 pack of Eco Candle Wicks, ₹26,889.60, with nothing committed to an unsold scent. The marks below are CSI's published order-value thresholds of ₹5,000, ₹12,000 and ₹20,000. Deliberately left out: freight, labels, boxes, storage and the cost of the cash, none of which are drawn to scale and none of which this page will guess at.
Straight answer
How do I work out whether a 10% five-oil discount justifies stocking slow-moving scents?
Split the basket before you do anything else. The discount applies to everything, but only part of the basket was your idea. On live CSI stock in September 2026, five oils at 1 kg each come to ₹33,289.60 and the 10% is ₹3,328.96. If three of those scents move — Orchard Pear at ₹3,738.00, Apple Cinnamon at ₹4,743.60 and Ylang Ylang Flower at ₹5,310.00, ₹13,791.60 in all — and two were added to meet the condition — Juicy Orange at ₹7,499.00 and Tangerine at ₹11,999.00, ₹19,498.00 — then the genuinely new money is ₹1,379.16, being 10% of the order you were placing anyway, and the cash you have committed to unsold stock is ₹17,548.20. The test is one line: taking the offer costs (1 − d)(C + A), refusing it costs C plus whatever fraction u of the added oil you eventually buy anyway, so the offer wins when u > (1 − d) − dC ÷ A. Here that is 82.9%, or 1,659 g — about 104 candles at the series costing unit of 200 g of wax at 8%, which is 16 g of oil a candle and the fill reading used throughout this page. Use less than that and the discount is a loss wearing a percentage. The same equation gives you the escape route: add the scents in 100 g packs instead and the added spend falls to ₹1,948.00 and the required use to 19.2%, because your supplier's condition is a count, not a weight. Anything you add below ₹1,532.40 is worth taking even if it is poured away. CSI's own published discounts work differently and it is worth knowing which kind you are dealing with: HAPPY5 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 8% over ₹12,000 and YAY10 10% over ₹20,000 are order-value discounts, not quantity breaks — they reward the size of the basket, not its variety, so three moving oils plus two 10 kg packs of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 and a 100 pack of Eco Candle Wicks reaches ₹26,889.60 and the same 10% band with nothing at risk. CSI publishes no per-kilogram quantity ladder; run the rate ladder on the oil you are buying and it will tell you what the packs actually cost.
One line: ₹1,379.16 of that ₹3,328.96 is real money; the rest is a discount on oil you did not want, and you must pour 82.9% of it to break even.
A 10% basket discount is worth ₹3,328.96 on five 1 kg oils — and the two slow scents in that basket cost you ₹17,548.20 after the discount. Priced on live CSI stock in September 2026: Orchard Pear ₹3,738.00, Apple Cinnamon ₹4,743.60, Ylang Ylang Flower ₹5,310.00, Juicy Orange ₹7,499.00 and Tangerine ₹11,999.00. The arithmetic below tells you how much of those slow scents you have to sell before the discount has actually paid for them.
Shop fragrance oils

What the 10% is worth, and what it is not

A discount reduces the price of what you buy. It does not create demand for it.

Start with the size of the prize, because it is smaller than the percentage feels. On a five-oil basket priced at 1 kg each from live CSI stock, the basket comes to ₹33,289.60 and your supplier's 10% is ₹3,328.96. That is a real number and worth having. But it is earned on the whole basket, including the oils you were buying anyway, and the decision in front of you is not about the whole basket. It is about the part you would not otherwise have bought.

Split the basket in two and the question sharpens immediately. Three of these scents move — say Orchard Pear at ₹3,738.00, Apple Cinnamon at ₹4,743.60 and Ylang Ylang Flower at ₹5,310.00, ₹13,791.60 of oil you would have ordered with or without a discount. Two of them are the slow ones the offer is pushing you towards: Juicy Orange at ₹7,499.00 and Tangerine at ₹11,999.00, ₹19,498.00. The 10% you collect on the part you were buying anyway is ₹1,379.16. The cash you hand over for the part you were not is ₹17,548.20 after the same discount.

Written that way the offer looks different. You are not being given ₹3,328.96. You are being given ₹1,379.16 on your normal order, on condition that you also spend ₹17,548.20 on stock you have no orders for. Whether that is a good trade depends entirely on one thing — how much of that ₹19,498.00 of oil you will genuinely use before you stop selling those scents — and the rest of this page is the arithmetic that answers it.

Live CSI pricing, September 2026, taxes included. The 10% is your supplier's stated offer, used exactly as you gave it, and is not a CSI figure. The candle column uses the series costing unit of 200 g of wax at 8%, which is 16 g of fragrance oil a candle; that is the fill reading carried through this whole page.
The CSI principle
The discount is on the basket. The decision is on the part you added.
₹3,328.96 off the basket, ₹1,379.16 of it on oil you were buying anyway, ₹17,548.20 of cash out for oil you were not.

The one equation that answers it

Two baskets, one comparison, and a single fraction that decides the argument.

Set the two futures side by side. In the first you take the offer: you pay 90% of the whole basket, committed oils and added oils together. In the second you refuse it: you pay full price for the committed oils now, and full price later for however much of the added scents you eventually get round to using. Everything else — your jars, your wax, your time — is identical in both, so it cancels and can be ignored.

Call the committed spend C, the added spend A, the discount d, and the fraction of the added oil you will genuinely use u. Taking the offer costs (1 − d) × (C + A). Refusing it costs C + uA. The offer wins when (1 − d)(C + A) is less than C + uA, and rearranging that gives the whole answer in one line: u > (1 − d) − dC ÷ A. At a 10% discount that is u > 0.9 − 0.1C ÷ A.

Put your numbers in. C is ₹13,791.60, A is ₹19,498.00, d is 10%. 0.1 × C is ₹1,379.16; divide that by A and you get 0.0707; subtract it from 0.9 and the answer is 82.9%. You must eventually use 82.9% of those two kilograms of slow-moving oil — 1,659 g, or about 104 candles at 16 g each — before the 10% basket discount leaves you better off than simply buying what you needed. Below that line the discount is a loss dressed as a saving.

Both, in 100 g packs ₹1,948.00 19.2% 38 g 2
Anything under this figure ₹1,532.40 0% — worth it even if wasted — —
Priced above: Juicy Orange 1kg ₹7,499.00 and 100g ₹749.00; Tangerine 1kg ₹11,999.00 and 100g ₹1,199.00; committed spend ₹13,791.60 from the three 1 kg packs in the table above. Live CSI pricing, September 2026. The 10% is your supplier's figure. The required-use column is the equation u > (1 − d) − dC ÷ A applied to each row, and the last row is the same equation solved for the added spend at which u falls to zero: dC ÷ (1 − d) = ₹1,532.40.

The bottom two rows are where this page earns its keep. Add the same two scents in 100 g packs instead of kilograms and the added spend collapses to ₹1,948.00 — at which point you only need to use 19.2% of them, about 2 candles between the two, for the discount to be worth taking. Your supplier's condition was five oils, not five kilograms. Nothing in the offer says the fifth oil has to be a big one.

And the last row generalises it. Whatever your committed spend is, the added spend at which the discount is worth taking even if the oil is never used at all is d × C ÷ (1 − d) — here ₹1,532.40. Anything you add below that figure is free money, because the discount on the order you were placing anyway more than covers it. Anything above it is a bet on your own sales, and the equation tells you exactly how big a bet.

Comparing the discount against the added oil's price instead of against your own order. The common version of this reasoning is "the fifth oil costs ₹11,999.00 and the discount is ₹3,328.96, so I am almost even". You are not: ₹1,949.80 of that discount is the discount on the added oils themselves, and it never existed as a saving — it is just a lower price on something you did not want. The only part of the discount that is genuinely new money is the ₹1,379.16 on the order you were placing anyway. Compare that against the added spend, never the whole ₹3,328.96.
Treating unused oil as a stored asset at full value. Fragrance oil does not go off on a date, but it does go off a range. A scent you bought for a Diwali collection is worth its full ₹11,999.00 a kilogram only while you are still pouring it; the day you retire that scent it is worth whatever you can blend it into. Value the leftover honestly when you run this sum — a kilogram you will not pour is not ₹11,999.00 of inventory, it is ₹11,999.00 of decision you have already made. Store it sealed, cool and out of sunlight, the way the product pages advise, so that at least the physical oil is still good if the scent comes back into your range.

Running your own five-oil basket

Four figures, and you will know within a minute whether the offer is for you or for your supplier.
1
1. Write down what you were going to order anywayBefore you look at the offer. Only the oils, at the pack sizes you would have chosen: that is C. In the worked example above it is ₹13,791.60 — Orchard Pear, Apple Cinnamon and Ylang Ylang Flower at 1 kg each. Being honest at this step is the whole discipline. An oil you were "probably going to try soon" is not committed spend; it belongs in A.
2
2. Price the oils the offer makes you addThat is A. Price it at the smallest pack that still satisfies the supplier's condition, not the pack the supplier suggests. Five oils at 1 kg each is ₹19,498.00 of added spend; the same two scents at 100 g are ₹1,948.00. The condition is a count, so take the count at the cheapest price that meets it.
3
3. Compute the two figures the equation needsd × C is the only part of the discount that is genuinely yours — here 10% of ₹13,791.60, which is ₹1,379.16. And d × C ÷ (1 − d) is the added spend you could waste entirely and still come out level: ₹1,532.40. If A is smaller than that, stop reading and take the offer.
4
4. If A is larger, ask what fraction you must useu > 0.9 − 0.1C ÷ A. For the 1 kg version that is 82.9%, about 104 candles of scents you have not sold yet. Set that number against your own sales record for a new scent's first six months. If you have never sold 104 of anything new in half a year, the offer is not for you at that pack size — it is for you at 100 g.
THE SHAPE OF A GOOD QUALIFYING BUY
Reach the count with small packs of the new scents and the volume with the ones you already sell. On this basket that means 1 kg each of Orchard Pear, Apple Cinnamon and Ylang Ylang Flower, and 100 g each of Juicy Orange and Tangerine — five oils, the same qualifying condition, ₹1,948.00 of added spend instead of ₹19,498.00, and a required use of 19.2% instead of 82.9%. You also get two 100 g test pours to find out whether the scent deserves a kilogram next time, which is worth more than the discount.
The cheapest way to learn whether a scent sells is the smallest pack of it.

What CSI publishes: three order-value codes, and no ladder

Worth saying plainly, because it changes which basket you should build.

CSI publishes three spend-based discount codes: HAPPY5 at 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 at 8% over ₹12,000 and YAY10 at 10% over ₹20,000. They are order-value discounts. They depend on what the whole basket comes to in rupees — nothing else. They do not depend on how many different scents are in it, how large a pack you choose, or whether you buy oil at all.

That distinction is not a technicality, it is the answer to your question. A count-based offer of the kind in your title forces variety on you: five different oils, or no discount. A value-based code does not. You can reach ₹20,000 with three scents you already sell, a wax you already pour and a box of wicks you will certainly use. On the prices above, Orchard Pear, Apple Cinnamon and Ylang Ylang Flower at 1 kg each come to ₹13,791.60; add two 10 kg packs of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹5,074.00 each and a 500 pack of Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹2,950.00 and the basket is ₹26,889.60, comfortably past the YAY10 threshold, worth ₹2,688.96, with not one rupee of it committed to a scent you have not sold.

The second thing to say plainly is what CSI does not publish. There is no per-kilogram quantity break on this store, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. Run the rate ladder on the five oils in the basket and you get the truth of it: Orchard Pear runs from ₹7.00 a gram in its smallest pack down to ₹3.74 a gram at 1000 gm; Apple Cinnamon is ₹4.74 a gram from 50 gm all the way to 1 kg; Tangerine is ₹11.98 a gram at 50g and ₹12.00 a gram at 1kg, which is marginally dearer in the larger pack. Check the ladder on the oil you are actually buying rather than assuming the kilogram is the cheap way to buy it.

YAY10 over ₹20,000 10% ₹2,000.00 Basket value only
Your five-oil basket under YAY10 ₹33,289.60 10% ₹3,328.96 ₹19,498.00 of it committed to two slow scents
Three oils + 20 kg wax + wicks ₹26,889.60 10% ₹2,688.96 Nothing committed to a slow scent
Priced above: the five 1 kg oil packs listed earlier; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg ₹5,074.00 (₹507.40/kg); Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 500 for ₹2,950.00 (₹5.90 a wick). Live CSI pricing, September 2026, taxes included. HAPPY5, BIZWIZ8 and YAY10 are CSI's published order-value discount codes; the rupee figures in the fourth column are the stated percentage of the stated threshold. They are order-value discounts, not quantity breaks, and CSI publishes no per-kilogram rate ladder.

One review on the store puts the underlying wish plainly — a customer hoping for a discount on bulk buys. It is a fair thing to want and worth answering honestly rather than with a sales line: the published codes are the discount, they work on order value, and for a large consignment the route is a quote on WhatsApp rather than a ladder on the product page. Nothing on this page assumes a rate that is not printed.

Buying variety to reach a value threshold. The two offers pull in opposite directions and it is easy to obey both at once by accident. A count-based offer rewards variety; a value-based code rewards volume of anything. If you are shopping a value-based code, the cheapest rupee you can add to the basket is the one you were always going to spend — wax, wicks, jars, stickers. Adding a fifth scent to a value-based basket buys you nothing the twentieth kilogram of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 would not have bought, and the wax will certainly be used.

The freight line the discount hides

Five oils in five orders is a real cost. Five oils in one parcel is a smaller one.

There is a second saving in buying the basket together, and unlike the discount it is arithmetically certain. CSI's delivery charges are published flat rates by weight band, and a parcel's band is set by the stored packed weight, not the label on the bottle. The five 1 kg oils in this basket store packed weights of 1.5 kg, 1.5 kg, 2.0 kg, 1.1 kg and 1.1 kg — 7.2 kg together. Ordered one at a time, each of those parcels falls in a band costing ₹180.00 on Standard Shipping, so five separate orders is ₹900.00. Sent as one 7.2 kg consignment the cheapest published band is ₹800.00, also on Standard. The difference is ₹100.00, as published in September 2026.

That is a smaller number than the discount and it is worth keeping it in proportion. ₹100.00 across a basket of ₹33,289.60 is not the reason to buy five oils at once. But it is the reason not to trickle an order out over five weeks, and it is real in a way the discount is not until the oil is actually poured. Two reviews on the store say plainly that delivery charges feel high; consolidating is the honest answer to that, and it is the one lever on this page that costs you nothing to pull.

Rates are CSI's published flat weight bands as at September 2026 and can change. Splitting does not always cost more and consolidating does not always save — the bands have edges, so check the weight you are actually shipping rather than assuming bigger is cheaper.

Carry that into the candle if you want it in the same units as everything else. Five kilograms of fragrance at 16 g a candle scents 312 candles, so the ₹100.00 difference between five parcels and one is a fraction of a rupee each. The discount, at ₹3,328.96, is about ₹10.65 a candle across the same run — provided every gram gets poured. That proviso is the entire subject of this page.

Why slow scents are expensive even when they are discounted

The rate on the invoice is not the rate you paid. The rate you paid is the one per candle you actually sold.

There is a way of looking at unused oil that makes the whole argument obvious, and it is worth putting in your own sheet permanently. Take what you paid for a scent, and divide it by the grams of it you actually poured — not the grams you bought. Buy a kilogram of Tangerine at ₹11,999.00 with the 10% applied, pour half of it, and you did not pay ₹12.00 a gram; you paid ₹21.60 a gram, because the other 500 g bought you nothing. Pour a quarter of it and you paid ₹43.20 a gram.

1,000 g 62 ₹10,799.10 ₹10.80 ₹1.20 under
750 g 47 ₹10,799.10 ₹14.40 ₹2.40 over
500 g 31 ₹10,799.10 ₹21.60 ₹9.60 over
250 g 16 ₹10,799.10 ₹43.20 ₹31.20 over
Priced above: Tangerine 1kg ₹11,999.00 at the list rate of ₹12.00 a gram, live CSI pricing September 2026, with your supplier's stated 10% applied to give ₹10,799.10. The four use levels are illustrative — they are there to be read against your own sales record, not as a prediction. The break-even point on this single scent alone is the 78.5% in the table further up the page.

Notice how quickly the advantage goes. Pour every gram and the discount genuinely saves you ₹1.20 a gram. Pour three quarters of it and you are already ₹2.40 a gram worse off than if you had bought only what you needed at the list rate. There is no gentle slope here: the effective rate is a hyperbola, and it goes vertical the moment a scent stops selling.

That is also the answer to the follow-up question makers usually ask, which is whether to take the discount and blend the leftovers away. Blending is a real option and it recovers some value — but it recovers it at the rate of the scent you blend into, not the rate you paid. A kilogram of a ₹11,999.00-a-kilogram oil blended down into a house scent built on a ₹3,738.00-a-kilogram base is not a saving, it is a considered write-down. Do it with your eyes open, at a defined percentage, and burn-test the result, because a blend is a new formulation and behaves like one.

THE TWO QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE ANY BASKET OFFER
First: what would I have ordered today if this offer did not exist? That is C, and it is the only thing the discount is genuinely reducing. Second: what is the smallest pack of the added scent that still qualifies? That is A, and it is the only thing you are risking. Everything else — the headline percentage, the total, the feeling of having negotiated well — follows from those two figures. On this basket they are ₹13,791.60 and, if you are sensible, ₹1,948.00.

One more check before you commit a kilogram

A discounted oil you cannot use at the load you need is not a discounted oil.

There is a formulation question hiding inside a purchasing one, and it is worth two minutes before a kilogram goes in the basket. Fragrance load on this series is a percentage of wax weight, which is how CSI product pages state it, and two published figures govern it: the wax grade's stated maximum and the oil page's stated candle range. Where they differ, the lower one governs. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 states a maximum of 10% of total wax weight. On the oils in this basket, the Apple Cinnamon page states soy use of 6–10% of total wax weight and the Ylang Ylang Flower page states up to 10% for soy wax, so 8% sits inside both and the 16 g a candle used throughout this page is available to you.

Two of the five publish no candle usage range at all — Orchard Pear and Tangerine. That is normal and it is not a defect; many oil pages publish a rate and a size and nothing else. What it means practically is that for those two the wax grade's stated maximum is the only published limit you have, and the sensible course is to start low, test burn, and ask on WhatsApp for the usage range before you commit to a large pack. Buying a kilogram of an oil whose working range you have not yet established is a bigger risk than the discount is a reward.

What each basket page publishes · CSI product pages
Published candle usage, before you choose a pack size
Oil Candle usage stated on the page What to do about it
Orchard Pear Not published Ask on WhatsApp; the wax grade's stated maximum is the only published limit
Apple Cinnamon Soy 6–10% of total wax weight; paraffin 6–8% 8% sits inside it — the lower of this and the wax maximum governs
Ylang Ylang Flower Up to 10% for soy wax; up to 6% for paraffin Page also states 193°C flash point and 0% vanillin
Juicy Orange 8–10% in soy wax Page states IFRA certification and minimal to no vanillin content
Tangerine Not published Ask on WhatsApp; test at a low load before committing to a kilogram
Quoted above: the candle usage wording published on each CSI oil product page, and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464's stated maximum of 10% of total wax weight. Where a page publishes nothing, this page says so rather than estimating. Flash point is a transport, storage and handling property and does not rank hot throw. MSDS and IFRA documentation is available on request on WhatsApp.

Cure time belongs in the same paragraph, because it changes how long your cash is committed. Some oil pages give a 24 to 48 hour cure. Treat that as the earliest a candle can be test-burned; soy throw keeps developing, and the Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 family of container soys is best judged at 14 to 21 days, which the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page itself frames as ideally one to two weeks. So a kilogram of a new scent bought today is not five hundred candles of sellable stock today. It is a test pour now, a verdict in three weeks, and — if the verdict is good — a scent you can then buy properly. That sequence is cheaper than any discount.

Qualifying for the discount with a scent you have not burn-tested. This is the expensive version of the mistake, because it stacks two risks that look like one. The first is commercial: the scent may not sell. The second is technical: at your wax, your vessel and your wick it may not throw, or it may discolour, or it may need a load your wax's stated maximum does not allow. A 100 g pack answers the second risk for about ₹1,199.00 and the first for the price of one market stall. A kilogram answers neither any faster.

What this page will not put a number on

The discount arithmetic is exact. The carrying cost around it is yours.

Every figure on this page is either your own stated 10% or a live CSI price in September 2026. There is a second half to a stock decision that no supplier can price for you, and inventing a figure for it would make this page feel more complete and be worth less. Copy the rows below into your own sheet and fill them in from your own records.

Your side of the sheet
The carrying costs behind a qualifying purchase
Line Why it is blank Your figure
Cost of the cash while it sits in oil Depends on your own borrowing or opportunity cost — not a CSI cost —
Storage space and conditions Not a CSI cost —
Your own time testing a new scent Not a CSI cost, and the line most makers leave at zero —
Labels, boxes and inserts for the new scent Not CSI products —
Advertising a scent nobody has asked for Not a CSI cost —
Your realistic six-month sales for a new scent Only your own record can answer it —
Oils in the basket, from CSI The five packs priced above ₹33,289.60
Your supplier's 10% Your own stated figure ₹3,328.96
Priced above: only the ₹33,289.60 oil line, which is the five 1 kg packs at live CSI prices in September 2026, and your own stated 10%. Every other row is deliberately empty. Do not put a typical figure in a blank — a guessed carrying cost that travels into a buying decision is worse than an admitted gap. Total the sheet as materials from CSI plus your own costs.

One of those blanks deserves a sentence, because it is the one that decides most of these arguments in practice. The cost of cash is not an abstraction for a small candle business in a festive year. ₹17,548.20 tied up in two scents in September is ₹17,548.20 not available for jars, wax or a stall booking in October, and Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026, which means festive candles want pouring by about mid-October for a 14 to 21 day cure plus delivery. A discount that is collected in March and paid for in October is not the same discount.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells fragrance oil, and this page still argues that the right way to qualify for a variety-based discount is to buy the smallest pack of the scent you are unsure about rather than the kilogram. On the basket above that is the difference between ₹19,498.00 and ₹1,948.00 of added spend, and it is money CSI does not take. The honest position on a slow scent is that a 100 g pack and a burn test tell you more than any discount does, and that the discount on an oil you never pour is not a discount at all.

Every CSI price here is live stock in September 2026, taxes included, and the linked product pages are authoritative if anything changes. The 10% in the title is your supplier's stated offer, used exactly as given and never presented as a CSI figure. CSI's published order-value codes are HAPPY5 at 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 at 8% over ₹12,000 and YAY10 at 10% over ₹20,000; they are order-value discounts, not quantity breaks, and CSI publishes no per-kilogram quantity ladder — the rate ladders quoted here were read off the product pages for the five oils named. Fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight as CSI product pages state it, and the costing unit throughout is 200 g of wax at 8%, which is 16 g of oil a candle. Where an oil page publishes no candle usage range, this page says so rather than estimating, and the wax grade's stated maximum is then the only published limit. Shipping figures are CSI's published flat weight bands as at September 2026, priced on stored packed weights. Storage, cash cost, labels, boxes, advertising and your own time are not CSI products and are left blank throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 10% basket discount ever simply worth taking?
Yes, and the condition is precise: when the added spend is below d × C ÷ (1 − d). On the worked basket, with ₹13,791.60 committed at a 10% discount, that figure is ₹1,532.40. Add less than that and you are ahead even if the added oil is never poured, because the discount on your normal order more than covers it. Add more and you are making a bet on your own sales, which the equation sizes for you.
Should I add the fifth oil in a small pack or a large one?
Small, unless you have already sold the scent. A 100 g pack of Tangerine is ₹1,199.00 against ₹11,999.00 for the kilogram, and both count as one oil towards a five-oil condition. Taking the count at the smaller pack drops the required use on this basket from 82.9% to 19.2% and buys you a test pour into the bargain. The kilogram is the right buy for the second order, not the first.
How many candles does a kilogram of fragrance oil make?
62.5 candles at the series costing unit — 200 g of wax at an 8% load, which is 16 g of oil each, 216 g of fill. At 10% it is 20 g a candle and 50 candles to the kilogram. Check the load against both published limits before you plan a purchase around it: the wax grade's stated maximum and the oil page's stated candle range, with the lower of the two governing.
Do CSI's discount codes stack with a lower per-kilogram rate?
There is no per-kilogram quantity ladder on the store to stack with. HAPPY5, BIZWIZ8 and YAY10 are order-value discounts — 5% over ₹5,000, 8% over ₹12,000 and 10% over ₹20,000 — and they work on what the basket comes to. The pack rate you pay is whatever the product page prints for that pack. Run the ladder on the specific oil: on this basket it falls with pack size on some and is fractionally higher in the largest pack on others.
What is the freight difference between one order and five?
On this basket, ₹100.00. The five 1 kg oils store packed weights totalling 7.2 kg; five separate parcels fall in bands costing ₹900.00 in total on Standard Shipping, and one consignment of 7.2 kg is ₹800.00, both as published in September 2026. It is a small number beside the discount, but it is certain, and it does not depend on anything selling.
What if I genuinely want the fifth scent for a festive range?
Then it is committed spend, not added spend, and it belongs in C — which changes the answer completely. The equation only penalises oil you would not otherwise have bought. Be strict about the distinction, though: a scent you have decided to launch, with a vessel chosen and a pour date set, is committed. A scent you might launch is not. Diwali 2026 is 8 November 2026, and a 14 to 21 day cure plus delivery puts the pour date around mid-October, so a festive scent bought now has a date attached to it or it does not.

Figures verified September 2026 (CSI live pricing). The reader's figure, used exactly as given and never presented as a CSI offer: a 10% discount for buying five fragrance oils together. Series convention: fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight, so the costing unit is 200 g of wax plus 16 g of oil at 8%, 216 g poured, and that is the fill reading carried throughout. Live CSI prices, September 2026, taxes included. Oils, all at the 1 kg rung of their own ladder: Orchard Pear 1000 gm ₹3,738.00 (₹3,738.00/kg; 50 gm ₹240.00, 100 gm ₹380.00, 500 gm ₹1,870.00; no candle usage range published); Apple Cinnamon 1 kg ₹4,743.60 (₹4,743.60/kg; 50 gm ₹237.18, 100 gm ₹474.36, 500 gm ₹2,371.80; page states soy 6–10% and paraffin 6–8% of total wax weight); Ylang Ylang Flower 1 kg ₹5,310.00 (₹5,310.00/kg; page states up to 10% for soy wax, up to 6% for paraffin, 193°C flash point, 0% vanillin); Juicy Orange 1kg ₹7,499.00 and 100g ₹749.00 (page states 8–10% in soy wax and IFRA certification); Tangerine 1kg ₹11,999.00 and 100g ₹1,199.00 (no candle usage range published). Wax: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg ₹5,074.00 (₹507.40/kg, stated maximum load 10% of total wax weight). Wick: Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 500 for ₹2,950.00 (₹5.90 each). Published order-value discount codes quoted: HAPPY5 5% over ₹5,000, BIZWIZ8 8% over ₹12,000, YAY10 10% over ₹20,000 — order-value discounts, not quantity breaks. Shipping: stored packed weights of the five 1 kg oil variants are 1.5 kg, 1.5 kg, 2.0 kg, 1.1 kg and 1.1 kg, 7.2 kg together; the cheapest published band covering each single parcel is ₹180.00 on Standard Shipping and the band covering 7.2 kg is ₹800.00, both as published in September 2026. Illustrative: the use levels in the effective-rate table and the split of the basket into three moving and two slow scents are illustrative constructions for you to read your own record against, not CSI sales data.
