Choose the supplier whose product pages let you plan without guessing, then prove the glass on your own bench before the big order. The eight checks are a stated hot-pour limit, capacity in grams of wax, usable dimensions, a lid line, a pack ladder that reaches your volume, batch consistency, transit packing and GST invoicing. At CSI, the Apothecary Glass Candle Jar with Dome Lid (₹212.40 for 500 gm, ₹250 for 700 gm) and the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) (₹94.40 a jar in packs of 10 or 20) pass all four page checks — limit, grams, dimensions and lid — with "Safe for hot-pour up to 85°C". Every glass jar looks identical in a product photo. The differences that cost money are all in the text underneath it — or in what that text leaves out.
When you buy five jars, a bad jar is an annoyance. When you buy five hundred, a jar that cracks at your pour temperature, holds less wax than planned or arrives without the lid your packaging assumes becomes a production problem. Glass is often the largest single material line in a jar candle. A 150 g candle at 8% in the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid uses 138 g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (₹82.79 at the 10 kg price), 12 g of Lavender Fragrance Oil (₹62.65 at 1 kg), a ₹5.90 Eco Wick and a ₹94.40 jar — ₹245.74 in materials, 38.4% of it the jar. The mistake: reading "200 ml" as "200 g". Twenty-two CSI glass listings state capacity in millilitres — the matte pages say "fill weight of 200 ml". Millilitres measure space; soy wax is lighter than water and nobody pours to the brim, so a 200 ml jar holds noticeably fewer than 200 g of candle. The fix costs one jar: pour it to your real fill line at your real temperature, let it set, weigh it, and plan the batch on that number. Hot-pour limit versus your pour temperature
An 85°C limit is generous for one wax and tight for another. The jar does not change; your wax does.
A hot-pour limit is the highest wax temperature the seller says the glass is made to receive. It says nothing about the candle as it burns and does not replace a test, but it turns "will this crack?" into "is my thermometer under 85°C when I tip the pitcher?"

The mistake: pouring CSI 464 at 90°C into glass rated to 85°C. Both numbers are on CSI product pages, and both are honest statements about two different products — which is why a production line needs its own rule where they meet. Pour CSI 464 at the low end of its stated range in any 85°C-rated jar and log the actual reading. If your recipe genuinely needs a hotter pour, test that jar at that temperature first or ask CSI on WhatsApp. For glass that states no figure, test at your real pour temperature before you buy the carton.
The glass itself is the other half of the stress. A jar straight from a cold storeroom meets hot wax with a far bigger temperature gap, and uneven cooling is a common cause of wax pulling away from glass. Keep jars at room temperature, away from fans, through pour and set.
Warm glass is general practice, not a page instruction
Many makers warm jars slightly before pouring to help adhesion and reduce wet spots. No CSI jar page specifies it, so test it on a few jars rather than treating it as a requirement — and note that warm glass does not raise a stated 85°C limit. Three patterns stand out. The two fullest pages are the two with a stated hot-pour limit, so a hot-poured, lidded candle can be planned around them without assumptions. The fourteen matte jars give the widest colour choice at one price; their gap is the lid. Price only compares fairly once jars pass these checks — the price comparison does the sorting. The single-sold statement jars — borosilicate, clip top, ₹354 dome lid — state least, so sample them hardest.
The mistake: qualifying the clear jar and ordering the coloured one. The Black, Orange, Pink and Red 150 g pages share their description with the clear jar — the text still says "premium clear glass" and "golden metal lid", though the Black jar's title says black lid. Go by the title, stated capacity and photographs, confirm glass colour, lid and the 85°C line for that exact colour on WhatsApp, and pour a jar of that colour at your real temperature. Two titles also carry an old "Deliveries Starting 5th Dec" note; ask about current dispatch instead.

The range to choose when colour is the product. Each page states a "fill weight of 200 ml", height 8 cm, width 7 cm, and glass that will "withstand high heat" — no figure. Fourteen finishes are in stock at ₹354 for 5 and ₹708 for 10, from black and white to clear frosted, royal blue and maroon; Pink Matte is currently available only in 10s. A page with a °C limit, grams and a lid line lets you plan a run from a desk. A page that says less is not a worse jar — it is a jar whose missing numbers you produce yourself, with a thermometer, a scale and one filled sample.

On flat-priced jars there is no listed penalty for buying the pack that matches your batch — twenty clear 150 g jars cost ₹1,888 as one 20-pack or two 10-packs. On stepped listings, check where the drop lands: Salsa clear reaches ₹29.50 at 50, but Mini Glass Jars only reach ₹21.24 at 100. The mistake: judging a supplier on one per-jar figure. "₹29.50 a jar" and "₹94.40 a jar" are both true of CSI glass, and neither says which is better value. The first has a 100-pack and states no hot-pour figure or dimensions; the second states both and includes a lid. Delivery-day inspection: the check that protects a bulk order
The supplier's page tells you what you ordered. The first hour after the cartons arrive tells you what you received.
No product page, CSI's included, can promise that hundreds of jars all survive a courier network, and this guide will not quote a breakage rate nobody has published. What you control is how fast you find a problem and whether a flawed jar reaches the pouring table — because a crack found after pouring also costs the wax, oil and wick.

Fit every lid to a jarOn lidded listings — the 150 g golden-lid jars, apothecary dome lids, Salsa lug caps, Mini Glass Jars — close each lid. One that spins loose or will not seat is a reject for a shipped candle, and cheaper to find now than at packing.

Fill, set and weigh one jar per deliveryPour one jar to your usual fill line at your usual temperature — under 85°C in rated glass — let it set and weigh it. Compare with your first qualified batch: a shift in grams is an early sign the glass has changed, and it changes your wax and oil maths.

Plan a loss allowance from your own numbers
No breakage or reject rate is published for CSI glass, and a figure from someone else's shipment tells you nothing about yours. On the first order buy a few spare jars — a 20-pack when you need 18 is cheap insurance — record what you actually lose, and set your allowance from your own log after three deliveries.Wick matching belongs to the same qualification. Only the Salsa colour pages name a wick ("Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks"), and Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are stated for candles "exceeding 8 cm". Are CSI glass candle jars safe for hot pour?
Six in-stock listings state a figure: the Apothecary Glass Candle Jar with Dome Lid and the 150 g golden-lid jars in clear, black, orange, pink and red all say "Safe for hot-pour up to 85°C". The matte, frosted, glossy, Salsa and borosilicate pages describe the glass as heat resistant but give no temperature, and the rest say nothing. Pour under 85°C in rated jars, and test any other jar at your real pour temperature before a volume order.
Does a 200 ml candle jar hold 200 g of wax?
No. Millilitres measure the space inside the glass; grams measure the wax you pour. Wax is lighter than water and jars are not filled to the brim, so a 200 ml jar holds fewer than 200 g of finished candle. Twenty-two CSI glass listings — including the 14 matte, frosted and glossy jars and the six Salsa jars — state capacity in ml. Pour one jar to your fill line, let it set and weigh it, then plan wax and oil on that figure.
Are glass candle jars cheaper when bought in bulk?
On most CSI glass, the listed per-jar price is flat across packs: ₹94.40 for the clear 150 g golden-lid jar in 10s or 20s, ₹70.80 for matte and frosted jars in 5s or 10s. Three listings step down: 200 ml Salsa clear from ₹40.12 to ₹29.50 a jar at 50 and 100, Mini Glass Jars from ₹25.96 to ₹21.24 at 100, and Colorful Votive Glass Jars (Black) from ₹35.40 singly to ₹31.86 in packs. Do matte and frosted candle jars come with lids?
The pages for CSI's 14 in-stock matte, frosted and glossy 200 ml jars do not mention a lid, so do not assume one. They state a 200 ml fill weight, 8 cm height and 7 cm width. If your candle ships or sells lidded, confirm on WhatsApp before ordering. Listings that do state a lid include the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (included with every jar), the apothecary dome lid, the Salsa lug-cap jars and the shiny 120 gm jars.
What should I check when a bulk glass jar order arrives?
Photograph cartons before opening, then count by listing and colour. Check every rim for chips and every wall for cracks under a light, stand each jar on a flat tile to catch rocking bases, and fit every lid. Separate rejects, photograph them in their packing and report them the same day. Finally, fill, set and weigh one jar from the delivery and compare it with your first qualified batch, keeping one untouched jar as a retained sample.
Which wick should I use in a 7 cm glass candle jar?
None of CSI's 7 cm glass pages states a wick. Nearby stated guidance: the coloured Salsa pages say "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks", Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are engineered for candles exceeding 8 cm, and Eco Candle Wicks Loose are designed for 2 inch diameters.
