No 500-pack: the listed ceiling for every jar

When a quantity isn't listed, the honest starting point is to build it from the largest pack that is. For each jar below, the table uses the biggest listed pack, counts how many make five hundred, and shows the total. Because the per-jar price at CSI is flat across packs on most jars, and steps down only on clear Salsa (at 50) and Mini jars (at every pack), this is the most a five-hundred order can cost at listed prices. It is the figure to hold any quote against — we don't state what a quote will be, because quotes are made per order.

Two rows need a word. The shiny 120 gm jar tops out at a 5-pack, so five hundred is a hundred cart lines — a clear case for one WhatsApp message instead. And the clear Salsa jar is the only one where buying the "wrong" pack changes the ceiling materially: five hundred from 5-packs would list at ₹20,060, ₹5,310 more than five 100-packs. On every other jar in the table the ceiling is the same whichever pack you use.

Most 500-jar runs are not one jar. Receiving 500 jars: count, check, then wash

Glass that has travelled needs checking, and a count needs doing before cartons are unpacked and mixed. One CSI customer's honest four-star review of the tin containers says it plainly: "some are little dent", while praising the material and the design. That is exactly the kind of variation a receiving check exists to catch — whatever the container, and whoever the supplier. The routine below is slow the first time and quick after that, and it turns "some" into a number you can act on.

The spare allowance you set yourself

You will read breakage percentages in maker forums. We are not going to repeat one, because no CSI page publishes a figure and the number that matters is the one from your deliveries, your handling and your pour. What we can do is price the decision so you can make it with the numbers in front of you.

The clear Salsa rows show a trap. Twenty-five spares bought as five 5-packs cost ₹1,003; fifty spares in one 50-pack cost ₹1,475 — only ₹472 more for twice the jars, because the 5-pack is priced at ₹40.12 a jar. If you want spares at all on clear Salsa, buy them in a 50. On flat-priced jars the spares cost the same per jar in any pack, so buy exactly the allowance you have decided on.

How to decide it: on your first large delivery, record received, good and held, and track how many more you lose in washing and pouring. Divide lost-plus-held by received. That percentage — yours, not a forum's — is the allowance for the next order, and the table tells you what it costs. Spares that survive are not wasted; they are the first jars of the next batch.

Space, storage and staging for 500 jars

Five hundred jars take room twice: once in cartons, and again when they are washed and drying. CSI's pages don't state carton sizes or how many jars ship per carton, so plan the carton space when the quote tells you how the order will be packed. The drying space you can work out now from stated dimensions.

The Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid states an outer diameter of 7 cm, and the matte range a width of 7 cm. Standing upright in a tight grid, each jar occupies a 7 cm × 7 cm square, or 49 cm². Five hundred of them need 24,500 cm² — 2.45 m², a rectangle of 25 × 20 jars measuring about 175 cm × 140 cm. That is a large dining table, before you leave any gap for air or hands. If your bench can't hold that, wash and dry in rounds of 100 (0.49 m² each) and move dry jars straight back into clean, labelled cartons.

Store cartons indoors, dry and off the floor, away from direct sun and the dust of a workshop. Keep coloured glass separated by colour and keep lids boxed with their own jar type — lug caps especially. If you are staging the delivery itself — say 250 now and 250 later — keep one checked jar from the first delivery as a reference and compare the second delivery's colour, rim and lid fit against it on arrival.

It is mid-September 2026 and Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November. A 14–21 day cure is standard practice for soy container candles. The table works backwards from a hand-over date you choose.
