Buy Candle Jars Online in India

What does "150 gram" mean on a jar listing? The wax the jar holds at a normal fill line — not the weight of the glass, and not the brim volume. Weigh your own fill before you size a wax order.
Why does internal diameter matter more than height? Diameter sets the melt pool, and the melt pool sets the wick. A jar 4 mm wider than you assumed is a different wick and a different burn test.
When should you not order glass online at all? When you need one plain shape in very high volume, your city has a wholesale glassware market, and you can inspect before paying. Freight on cheap heavy glass is where local wins.
What a product photograph cannot tell you
You choose a wax from a stated melt behaviour and fragrance ceiling. You choose an oil by buying 15 g and burning a candle. Both decisions survive the internet. A jar is the exception. The listing gives a colour, a finish, a capacity and a pack size; the photograph gives studio lighting on white. Everything that decides whether the jar works in your process is missing, for the ordinary reason that it is not photographable. Here are the five gaps, in the order they cost you money.
1. Fill capacity in grams versus brim volume
A 150 gram jar holds roughly 150 grams of wax at a sensible fill line, with headspace for the wick and the lid. It does not hold 150 grams to the brim, and the 150 is not the weight of the glass. That confusion goes straight into your wax order. If a jar you costed at 150 g actually takes 138 g, a 500-jar run needs 69 kg of wax instead of 75 kg. The CSI catalogue is explicit about which number it means — 600 gram fill capacity, 85 g fill weight, 50 g wax capacity. Read those words as written.
2. Internal diameter — the number that sets your wick
Fragrance leaves a candle from the surface of the melt pool, and the pool can never be wider than the inside of the jar. That makes internal diameter the most consequential dimension on a container, and the one a photograph is worst at conveying, because every jar looks the right size next to nothing. Two jars of the same stated capacity can be short and wide or tall and narrow, and need different wicks. A 4 mm error in assumed diameter is very often a whole wick size — tunnelling one way, sooting and mushrooming the other. The wick guide organised by diameter is only usable once you have measured your actual jar.
3. Wall and base thickness
Thickness decides how much thermal shock the glass tolerates when hot wax meets a room-temperature jar, and how much courier handling it survives. A thin-walled jar photographs identically to a thick-walled one; you find out on the pour bench or when you open the carton. It is also why borosilicate glass at ₹200.00 for a 600 g jar sits at its own price point — you are paying for a stated thermal specification.
4. Exact colour, under two different lights
Matte black photographs as matte black. Under warm shop light it reads charcoal; on a white studio background, deep neutral; on a phone by a window, something else again. The consequence is commercial: your product photographs become a description of a thing your customer does not receive, which generates returns and complaints that are nobody's fault. The CSI matte family runs to ten colours — white, black, brown, green, purple, red, royal blue, orange, maroon and pink — plus frosted and glossy, all at one price. The only way to choose is to own one of each and look at them in your customer's light.
5. How the lid seats — and whether it comes off again
A lid is a mechanical fit, and a photograph shows a lid resting on a jar. It does not show whether the lid sits flush or proud, rocks, clears the wick tab, fits the gift box you have already ordered, or — the failure that actually happens — comes off easily after a cured candle has sat under it. Jinal Monil's four-star review names this exactly: "its difficult to open after I ready my candle and closed with lid…" That is the right thing to test, and it is untestable from a listing.
Order a pack of five before you make a range decision
This works because of a quirk in how the CSI container range is packed: most jar families sell in fives. That is not a token trial size but the smallest normal purchase unit, priced on the same per-unit ladder as everything else — which makes sampling free in most families and cheap in the rest.
| Family | Pack of 5 | Per unit at 5 | Best per-unit available | Sampling premium |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Glass Jars (black or golden) | ₹129.80 | ₹25.96 | ₹21.24 at 100 (₹2,124) | ₹4.72 a jar · ₹23.60 on five |
| Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 g | ₹159.30 | ₹31.86 | ₹31.86 at 10 (₹318.60) | None — identical per unit |
| 200 ml Salsa Jar, golden lid | ₹200.60 | ₹40.12 | ₹29.50 at 50 (₹1,475) | ₹10.62 a jar · ₹53.10 on five |
| Heart Cutout Velvet Jar 50 g, red | ₹225.00 | ₹45.00 | ₹45.00 at 10 (₹450) | None — identical per unit |
| Black Shiny Glass Jar, golden lid | ₹236.00 | ₹47.20 | ₹47.20 at 5 or singly | None — identical per unit |
| Matte, frosted and glossy family | ₹354.00 | ₹70.80 | ₹70.80 at 10 (₹708) | None — identical per unit |
Read the right-hand column again, because it is the whole argument. In four of those six families you pay the same per jar whether you buy five or ten. In the two where bulk pricing genuinely improves, the premium for taking five is ₹23.60 and ₹53.10. Both are rounding errors against the alternative — and the alternative is a range decision made from photographs, which typically commits you to 100 mini jars at ₹2,124, 100 salsa jars at ₹2,950 and 20 coloured 150 g lidded jars at ₹2,140: ₹7,214 of glass chosen from five product images. Against that, ₹1,304.70 for thirty jars in your hands is not a cost. It is the cheapest insurance in the business.
What to actually do with the sample, in order
Ten minutes with a ruler, a scale and one test burn answers everything the listing could not. Work in this sequence and write the numbers down — that sheet becomes the specification you re-order against next year, and it makes costing arithmetic rather than guesswork.
Reading a jar listing properly
Once you accept that the photograph is not evidence, the text becomes the most important part of the page. Three things in it are routinely misread.
The gram figure is fill capacity, not glass weight
Every gram figure in the CSI container range describes what goes into the jar: the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 g) takes about 150 g of wax, the Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram about 70 g. Use it to plan wax, never to plan freight — a 150 g jar with a lid weighs far more than 150 g in the carton, which is why glass is expensive to move.
Pack sizes are set by the family, not by a house rule
There is no single CSI pack size, and expecting one is a good way to mis-plan a first order. Matte, frosted and glossy glass sells in 5 and 10; votives in 5 and 10; shiny lidded jars singly and in 5; the 150 g lidded jars in 10 and 20; salsa jars in 5, 50 and 100; tins in 12; Mini Glass Jars in 5, 25, 50 and 100; wax melt containers in 5, 10, 50 and 100. So "sample everything" is not one instruction but eight, and in two families — tins at 12, lidded 150 g jars at 10 — the smallest unit is already a real quantity rather than a trial.
Stock status is tracked per variant, and you should read it that way
This is the part most buyers skim. Stock is held against each pack size separately, so the Pink Matte Glass Jar can be out of stock in the pack of 5 while the pack of 10 is live. Reading only the product title tells you nothing. In the September 2026 stock pull, 24 of the 75 jar and container products were flagged out of stock outright and two more were out in some pack sizes only — Frosted Brown and Orange Frosted glass, three matte votive colours, the amber 150 g jar with a black lid, both bamboo-lid jars and the 300 g and 250 g borosilicate jars among them. That is normal for a container range; glass runs in batches. It means two things: design around what is in stock today, and have a second colour you are happy with in every family. If one colour is central to a brief, ask on WhatsApp before you build a campaign on it.
Glass, transit and the arithmetic of breakage
A carton of jars crosses India by road, handled by people who cannot see inside it and stacked under other cartons. Some percentage of glass does not survive that, everywhere, with every supplier. The useful question is not whether breakage happens but what it does to your per-unit cost and what you do on the day the parcel arrives.
What a small breakage rate actually costs
The arithmetic is worth internalising: effective per-unit cost is the list price divided by one minus the breakage rate. At 2% you pay about 2% more per usable jar; at 5%, about 5.3%; at 10%, about 11.1%. What changes between families is not the percentage but the rupees.
| Pack | List per unit | At 2% broken | At 5% broken | At 10% broken |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Glass Jars, 100 @ ₹2,124 | ₹21.24 | ₹21.67 | ₹22.36 | ₹23.60 |
| Matte glass, 10 @ ₹708 | ₹70.80 | ₹72.24 | ₹74.53 | ₹78.67 |
| 150 g jar with lid, 20 @ ₹2,140 | ₹107.00 | ₹109.18 | ₹112.63 | ₹118.89 |
Two conclusions. Breakage is a cost of goods line, not an annoyance — put it in the costing sheet as a percentage. And the dearer the glass, the more the parcel is worth your attention: 5% on a ₹21.24 jar is ₹1.12, while 5% on a ₹107.00 jar is ₹5.63, or ₹2,815 across a 500-candle festive run.
What to check on arrival, before you sign anything
Do this in order, and do it while the delivery person is still there if the outer carton looks compromised. Once you have signed and opened it in private, you have made any claim harder for everyone.
On CSI's side, what is verifiable is what customers report. Ashwini's review of the White Matte Glass Jar reads "Nice glass jars, they look cute. I like the packaging as well." — packaging named unprompted. Jinal Monil's four-star review of the tins reads the other way: "some are little dent". Both are genuine published reviews and both are useful to you. Containers are the category where a supplier's packing shows, and where the honest expectation is a very good outcome most of the time rather than a perfect one every time.

When you should not order glass online at all
We sell jars and ship them across India, so take this section in the spirit it is written. There are real cases where buying your glass locally beats ordering it from us or from anybody else online.
The clearest is high volume in a single plain shape, where your city has a wholesale glassware market. Containers are the worst possible freight: low value per unit, heavy, bulky and fragile. At ₹21.24 or ₹29.50 a jar, moving that jar across the country is a large fraction of the jar itself, and you pay for the packing that keeps it alive too. If you need 2,000 identical plain jars, can collect them two hours away and inspect before paying, that is very likely the better transaction — the comparison is worked through in the candle jars wholesale guide. Three smaller cases follow the same logic: speed, when a corporate order lands on Monday and ships on Friday; hand-picking, when you make a few high-value candles and every jar must be visually perfect; and the plainest of all, when the jar you want is out of stock online and on a shelf locally today.
One final point, because it makes the sample pack pay for itself twice: the measurements do not expire. The fill weight, the internal diameter and the wick that passed become permanent entries in your raw material record — the record described in the complete candle making raw material list. Next Diwali you will not make this decision again; you will place a re-order against a specification you already own. That is the difference between a business and a series of separate good guesses, and it starts with five jars and a ruler.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells the jars this page is about. The commercially convenient version of this article would tell you to order a hundred today. It tells you to order five instead, because a maker who measures first and then orders confidently is worth far more to us over five years than one who buys a hundred of the wrong jar once and never returns. It also sets out, plainly, when buying glass locally beats buying it from us.
Every price here is taken from live CSI stock on 10 September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing, pack sizes and availability always take precedence. Container stock moves — 24 of the 75 jar and container products in that pull were out of stock, and stock is held per pack size, so check the variant you actually want. The Containers for Candle Making collection holds 80 products.
There is no breakage statistic on this page, because the honest thing to give you is the arithmetic for whatever rate you experience rather than a number you would have to take on faith. Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on their product pages. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me. Only reviews Judge.me records as verified carry the badge — Soumili Gope (Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid), Biny Abraham (Black Glass Jar with Black Lid), Tina Lynette Lazaro Moganti (Black Matte Glass Jar) and Jinal Monil (Tin Containers 85 g & 135 g). The two by Ashwini (White Matte Glass Jar; White Matte Votive Jar 70 gram) are published but not recorded as verified and are shown without the badge. Jinal Monil's four-star review is included because its two criticisms — dents, and a lid that is hard to reopen — are exactly the faults this page asks you to test for. One review is shortened with an ellipsis; wording is otherwise unedited. No city is attached to any review, because Judge.me does not record one.
