What is listed instead of a 1 kg pack

Searches for "candle dye 1 kg price" usually come from makers who buy wax and fragrance by the kilo and assume colour works the same way. At CSI it does not: wax is listed up to 50 kg (Natural Soy Pearl) and fragrance oils up to 1 kg, but every candle dye and mica stops at 100 g or 100 ml, and dye chips are sold as single packs with no weight stated. The table shows every route to roughly a kilo from listed packs, with the per-kilo figure that results.

Three things follow. First, the listed per-gram price does not fall between one 100 gm bottle and ten — ₹900 or ₹9,000, it is ₹9.00 a gram either way — so on the listed prices there is no saving in buying a kilo at once. Second, the big saving is moving off small bottles: a kilo assembled from 15 g bottles would take 67 of them and cost ₹15,812. Third, anything genuinely beyond ten bottles of one colour is a conversation, not a cart: send it on WhatsApp for a quote. We don't state here what that quote will be.

How far 100 g goes — and what a kilo would colour

To know whether a kilo makes sense, you need to know how much colour one candle uses. No CSI dye page states a dosage, and one customer describes the Purple dye as concentrated, writing that "a little amount gives the candle good pastel shade". So the numbers below rest on one clearly stated assumption, used only to size an order: a dose of 0.1% of wax weight, in candles made at an 8% fragrance load (so 92% of each candle is wax). Your own shade test may land lower or higher; the sensitivity table after this one shows how the answer moves.

Even at the heaviest illustrative dose — half a percent, which would be a deep shade — a single kilo colours 1,086 × 200 g candles. At the lighter illustrative doses, it is five to ten thousand. Put another way, a kilo of dye colours 200 kg of wax at 0.5%, a tonne at 0.1% and two tonnes at 0.05%. That is why kilo-sized dye rarely appears on a small candle business's shopping list, and why the question to ask is not "what does a kilo cost?" but "how many months of this colour do I want on the shelf?"

Who actually needs a kilo of one colour

The deciding number is monthly grams of one colour. The table uses a 200 g candle and two assumed doses to show how long one 100 gm bottle and one kilo of a single colour would last at different monthly volumes of that colour.

Read across and a simple rule appears. Under these assumptions, a kilo of one colour is used within six months only if that colour goes into about 900 candles a month at 0.1%, or about 360 a month at 0.25%. Businesses that could meet that bar exist — a brand whose signature black candle ships in the thousands, a producer pouring one festive red for a large corporate order, a wax-melt line using one shade across a big monthly run — but they are not typical of a maker building a range of ten scents in five colours. If that is your business, the kilo quantity belongs in a WhatsApp quote request rather than ten separate bottles in a cart; if it is not, ten bottles on a shelf is simply cash waiting to be used.

What a kilo means per candle and in cash

Per candle, a kilo changes nothing on the listed prices: colour costs ₹1.66 per 200 g candle at the assumed 0.1% whether it came from one 100 gm bottle or the tenth of ten. What a kilo changes is cash. Here is a single colour used in 500 candles a month at 0.1% (92 g a month), bought two ways.

Same colour, same cost per candle, and a ₹6,300 difference in cash at the start of the quarter. For a small candle business that is the difference between ordering the next 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (₹5,999) this month or next. For context on relative scale: a kilo of that wax is ₹599 and is enough wax for about five 200 g candles; a kilo of dye is ₹9,000 and, at the assumed dose, colours over five thousand. Dye is the one raw material in the candle where "buy it by the kilo" is almost never the right default.

How to order dye at kilo scale

If the arithmetic says you really do use colour at kilo scale, order it like a production input: from a tested dose, per colour, on a schedule. These three listings are the building blocks.

Mica by the kilo?

Mica follows the same pattern — no 1 kg pack, 100 gm the largest size — with one twist. On the standard shades (White, Blue, Green, Yellow) ten 100 gm packs make a kilo for ₹5,298.20. On Gold, Pink and Purple, the 50 gm pack is cheaper per gram than the 100 gm, so a kilo is ₹10,596.40 as twenty 50s against ₹11,198.20 as ten 100s — a ₹601.80 difference on the listed prices.
