For a manufacturer, the most useful number on a jar page is not the price but the diameter, because diameter decides the wick. Nineteen in-stock CSI glass listings state a 7 cm rim or width, which turns nineteen colour and finish options into two wick qualifications.
7 cm
stated rim or width shared by 19 in-stock CSI jars — the 150 g golden-lid family (5) and the matte, frosted and glossy 200 ml family (14) · two families, two wick tests · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What should a candle manufacturer look for in a jar supplier? Stated diameters and fills you can build wick and batch maths on, several colours or finishes within one shape, pack sizes that fit your batch, a heat line, and a way to set up recurring orders with GST invoicing.

How many jar SKUs should I run? As few as your range allows. Group jars into diameter families: CSI's 150 g golden-lid jars (7 cm rim) and 14 matte, frosted and glossy jars (7 cm width) cover nineteen looks with two wick qualifications.

How many jars does a 10 kg batch fill? At 8% with a 5% allowance: about 69 × 150 g jars, 85 × 120 gm shiny jars, 120 × 85 g golden tins or 20 × 500 gm apothecary jars.

Can I order jars in production volumes? The largest listed packs are 100 (Salsa and Mini Glass Jars), 20 (150 g jars) and 10–12 on most others. Listed per-jar prices are the ceiling; recurring volumes are quoted on WhatsApp.
The short answer
Standardise on diameter families: qualify the wick once per shape and diameter, then offer colours and finishes inside that family.
Batch to the pack: size each production run so one melter load fills a whole number of listed jar packs — 120 golden tins is exactly ten packs of 12.
Write a spec card per SKU: listing title, stated and weighed fill, measured diameter, wick, pour temperature against the heat line, lid, reorder pack. Reorder by exact listing name.

Diameter is the specification that decides the wick, so it is the one to standardise on. The 7 cm group is the deepest in CSI's range: nineteen listings in two families. The two families are described differently — a curved lidded jar with a 6.5 cm base, and a matte jar stated only by height and width — so each needs its own wick test, but every colour inside a family shares it.
Straight answer
What should a candle manufacturer look for in a jar supplier, and how should jars be standardised for production?
Look for a supplier whose pages state the numbers production runs on — diameter, fill and a heat line — and whose range offers many looks inside a few shapes. Then standardise by diameter family, because the wick follows diameter and every new diameter is a new burn test. At CSI the deepest family is 7 cm: the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) and its black, orange, pink and red versions state a 7 cm rim, 150 g fill and an 85°C hot-pour limit (₹94.40 clear, ₹107 coloured), and fourteen matte, frosted and glossy jars state a 7 cm width and 200 ml (₹70.80). The shiny 120 gm jars form a 6 cm family at ₹47.20–₹50, and the Golden Aluminium Tin gives a tin line at ₹30. Qualify Eco Candle Wicks C1 against C2 once per family, size each batch so a 10 kg melter load fills whole jar packs, write a spec card per SKU, and set up recurring orders by exact listing title on WhatsApp, where bulk pricing and GST invoicing are handled.
One line: choose jars by diameter family, wick each family once, batch to whole jar packs, and reorder by the exact listing name.
Qualify the whole 7 cm group for ₹1,645.80: one pack of 10 Clear 150 g golden-lid jars (₹944), one pack of 5 Black Matte jars (₹354), Eco Candle Wicks C1 (₹59 for 10) and C2 (₹188.80 for 20) and a sheet of 40 wick stickers (₹100).

What every extra jar SKU costs a manufacturer

A new jar looks like a new product. On the production floor it is a new wick test, a new label, a new carton and a new thing to run out of.

Small makers add jars because customers like variety. Manufacturers learn that each vessel carries a fixed overhead that has nothing to do with its price: it must be qualified with at least two wick sizes, it needs its own recipe card because fill and wax weight change, its label and box are sized to it, it takes a shelf and a reorder line, and when it goes out of stock the product goes with it. Multiply that by forty listings and the jar range, not the wax, becomes the bottleneck.

Hidden overhead per jar SKU · manufacturer view
What a new jar adds, and how a diameter family reduces it
Overhead For a brand-new shape and diameter For a new colour inside a qualified family
Wick qualification Full test: C1 and C2 (or wider wicks), two jars each, cured and burned One confirmation burn on the first order
Recipe card New weighed fill, wax and oil grams, pour temperature check Same card — record the colour listing
Label and box New sizes to design and buy Same dimensions; new colour artwork only if wanted
Heat check Pour-test at your real temperature, especially where no °C is stated Family's stated heat line applies — confirm the colour on WhatsApp
Stock and reorder New reorder line, new pack size to plan around Same pack sizes and price within the family
Stock-out exposure Product stops if the jar sells out Another colour in the family can stand in while you wait
The mistake: launching a new jar for every new scent. A scent change is a recipe change; a jar change is a production change. Keep the vessel constant across a collection and let the label, lid colour or glass finish differentiate it. CSI's matte family lets one jar shape appear in black, white, royal blue, maroon, green, brown and more at one ₹70.80 price — the same wick, recipe card and carton — which is how a twelve-scent range can run on one production setup.

Diameter families: wick once, sell many

The table groups CSI's in-stock jars by the diameter or width their pages state, with the wick guidance CSI's wick pages state for that size. Where no diameter is stated, measure the inside of the jar at the wax surface before you choose a wick, and treat it as its own family.

Two cautions keep the family idea honest. First, a shared diameter is not a shared shape: the 150 g jar is described as a curved apothecary style with a 6.5 cm base, while the matte jars state only height and width, so the melt pool can behave differently. That is why the 7 cm group needs two wick tests, not one. Second, a 7 cm rim or width is an outside figure; the wick sees the inside diameter at the wax surface, which you should measure on your own samples and write on the spec card. The wick-by-diameter guide sets out how size choices step with diameter, and the wick supplier guide for manufacturers covers the wick side of production.

Qualify on one colour, confirm on each new one
Colour listings within a CSI family share their stated dimensions and, often, their description. Run the full wick test on one colour, then burn one jar of each additional colour from its first delivery before you pour a full batch into it. It costs one jar and one wick per colour and catches the rare case where a finish or batch behaves differently.

Production-friendly shapes, mouths and closures

The jar that photographs best is not always the jar that fills fastest. On a line, the mouth, the base and the lid decide your pace.

Beyond diameter, four physical traits make a jar easier to run in volume. None of them is a reason to reject a jar you love; each is a reason to plan for the extra handling it needs. The last column quotes what CSI pages actually state.

Production traits · what CSI jar pages state
Four things that speed up or slow down a jar line
Trait Why it matters in production CSI pages that state it
Wide mouth Faster, cleaner pours from a pitcher or multi-nozzle funnel; easier wick centring 200 ml Salsa: "The wide mouth allows for easy pouring" · Borosilicate 600 g: "Smooth inner surface for easy pouring and clean adhesion"
Stable base Jars that do not rock stay level on trays while wax sets Apothecary and 150 g family: "Curved silhouette with broad base for wax stability"
Lid supplied with the jar No second SKU to match; faster packing 150 g clear: golden metal lid "included with every jar" · Golden Tin: "Lid: Included" · Mini Glass Jars: "Leak-Proof Lids" · Salsa: 63 mm lug cap (title)
Stacking and weight Denser storage and lighter outbound parcels Golden Tin: "Lightweight yet sturdy — ships safely and stacks easily"
The mistake: forgetting the lid until packing day. Fourteen matte, frosted and glossy jar pages do not mention a lid, while the 150 g golden-lid jars state one is included. A manufacturer who qualifies a matte jar and plans lidded packaging finds the gap at the worst moment. Put "lid: included / not stated / confirmed on WhatsApp" on every spec card before the first volume order, and design the box around the answer.

Four production jars for a standard line

A practical manufacturer line needs a core jar, a lower-cost jar, a tin and a sample size. These four cover that with stated dimensions or fills and listed multi-packs.

1
Core SKU · 7 cm family · lid and 85°C stated
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram)
The strongest production page in the glass range: 150 g fill, 8 cm tall with lid, 7 cm outer rim, 6.5 cm base, thick-walled clear glass, hot-pour safe up to 85°C, and a golden metal lid included with every jar. Four coloured versions (black, orange, pink, red, ₹107) share the dimensions and heat line, so one wick test serves five listings. Customer Soumili Gope's verdict was that "The jars were of good quality". The largest listed pack is 20.

Lower-cost SKU · 6 cm family · lidded
Black Shiny Glass Jar with Golden Lid (120 gm)
A compact lidded jar with a stated 120 gm capacity, 6 cm diameter and 6.5 cm height, in black with a golden lid. Amber (black lid) and pink are also listed in packs of 5 at ₹47.20; green, navy blue, purple and red are listed singly at ₹50. That makes a seven-colour everyday line on one wick test. No heat line is stated, so pour-test at your real temperature. Note the Amber listing's description is written for the black jar — order by title.

3
Tin SKU · stacks · lid included
Pack of 12 Golden Aluminium Tin (85g fill weight)
The tin that suits a production floor: sold in 12s at ₹360, matte gold, ~85 g wax fill, lid included, and stated to stack easily. It states no diameter or temperature, so measure the inside width, pour-test, and write both on the spec card. Its page suggests C1 or C2 wicks (sold as Eco Candle Wick sizes, though the page calls them wooden). Ten packs of 12 is exactly one 10 kg batch at 8% with a 5% allowance.
Size Price Per tin Tins per 10 kg batch

Sample and tester SKU · listed in 100s
Mini Glass Jars | Candle Making Containers (40 ml, black lid)
Manufacturers selling to retailers and hotels need testers, and this is the smaller of the two lidded jars listed up to 100 with a stepped price (the other is the 200 ml Salsa): ₹25.96 a jar in 5s down to ₹21.24 in 100s. The page states a 40 ml capacity, black or gold lids and "Leak-Proof Lids". Capacity is in ml and no dimensions are stated, so weigh a filled jar and measure it. The table shows black-lid packs; buy golden lids in 5, 50 or 100.

Matching a 10 kg batch to jar packs

A batch that ends with 11 jars poured and one pack half-open is a batch that was planned from the wax side only.

A 10 kg electric wax melter (₹21,240; a 20 kg version is ₹25,960) and a 10 kg bag of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (₹5,999) make 10 kg a natural production unit. The table works out how many units of each SKU one 10 kg load fills at an 8% fragrance load with a 5% allowance for spills and top-ups, and which listed jar packs to buy so the batch and the cartons finish together. Fixed cost per unit is the jar, wick, sticker and wax — add your fragrance separately, because it varies by scent.

Matte 200 ml (any finish) Weigh your fill 10,000 ÷ (weighed wax g × 1.05) Packs of 5 or 10 ₹70.80 a jar Test C1 vs C2 ₹70.80 + ₹8.40 + wax
Worked out above: wax per unit = fill × 92%. Units per batch = 10,000 g ÷ (wax per unit × 1.05), rounded down, then trimmed to whole packs where that loses little: golden tin 10,000 ÷ 82.11 = 121.8 → 120 (10 packs) · shiny 10,000 ÷ 115.92 = 86.3 → 85 (17 packs) · 150 g jar 10,000 ÷ 144.9 = 69.0 → 69 · apothecary 10,000 ÷ 483 = 20.7 → 20 · velvet 10,000 ÷ 48.3 = 207 → 200. Fixed cost = jar + wick + ₹2.50 sticker + wax at ₹0.5999/g: 150 g jar ₹94.40 + ₹5.90 + ₹2.50 + 138 × ₹0.5999 (₹82.79) = ₹185.59 · golden tin ₹30 + ₹5.90 + ₹2.50 + ₹46.91 = ₹85.31 · shiny ₹47.20 + ₹5.90 + ₹2.50 + ₹66.23 = ₹121.83 · apothecary ₹212.40 + ₹12 + ₹2.50 + ₹275.95 = ₹502.85 · velvet ₹45 + ₹5.90 + ₹2.50 + ₹27.60 = ₹81.

The pattern to copy is the golden tin: 120 units is exactly ten packs of 12, so a batch uses one bag of wax, ten packs of tins, 120 wicks and three sheets of stickers, with nothing half-open at the end. The 150 g jar is the awkward one — 69 jars from the wax against packs of 10 and 20 — so either accept one spare jar per batch or nudge the fill slightly and write the new weight on the spec card. For the apothecary line, a 20 kg melter load doubles to 41 jars at the same allowance, which is where the larger melter starts to earn its extra ₹4,720.

The CSI principle
Plan the batch from the jar pack backwards, not from the wax bag forwards.
Wax is sold in round kilos and cures in any jar. Jars come in fixed packs, need a qualified wick and take the shelf space. When the batch ends on a whole number of jar packs, stock counts stay true, reorders stay simple and nothing sits half-used between runs.
Running the same jar every week? Send the exact listing title, colour, jars per month, delivery pincode and GST number. Listed per-jar prices are the ceiling; recurring pricing and GST invoicing are handled directly on WhatsApp.
Set up a recurring jar order

The jar spec card: one page per SKU

Supplier pages are written to sell jars; a manufacturer needs a document written to make candles. Build a one-page card for every jar SKU from the listing and your own measurements, keep it at the pouring station, and update it whenever a delivery measures differently. Six steps produce it.

1
Record the listing exactlyCopy the product title and colour as listed, the pack sizes and the per-jar price. Reorders go by that title — several CSI handles do not match their titles (the amber Salsa jar's web address says "blue"), so never reorder from a remembered link.
2
Copy what the page states — word for wordFill, dimensions, heat line and lid, in the page's own units. Note conflicts where they exist: a coloured jar described as clear glass, a tin page describing different sizes from its variants, a shot glass titled pack of 6 and described as five.
3
Add what you measuredWeighed wax at your fill line, inside diameter at the wax surface, height to fill line, and empty jar weight. These are the numbers your recipe and wick actually run on.
4
Lock the wick and the pourWick type and size (for example Eco C1 or C2, or one or two Cotton Braided wicks), wick sticker, centring tool, and pour temperature — with the stated heat line beside it. For 85°C-rated jars, note that Luxury Soy Wax Chunks pour at 70–80°C per its page.
5
Set the batch and the reorder packUnits per 10 kg batch, the jar packs that match it, and your reorder quantity in whole packs. Add the fixed cost per unit before fragrance.
6
Log each delivery against the cardCount, rejects, one filled-and-weighed jar and one measured diameter per delivery. If the weight or diameter drifts, re-run the wick confirmation before the next full batch.
Tools that make the card repeatable
The measurements are only as good as the tools. A weighing scale (₹354) for fills, a Wick Centering Device (pack of 5, ₹118) and a Wick Setting Tool (₹399) for consistent placement, and a Wax Pouring Funnel with 4 nozzles (₹1,888) for wide-mouth jars on a tray. One customer, Lalitha Jagan, noted that CSI's bamboo wick holder "doesn't exert any pressure on the wicks".

Reorder points and supply continuity

A manufacturer's worst jar problem is not price; it is a qualified jar that is not there when the batch is due. At the time of writing, fourteen CSI glass listings are fully sold out, including several amber, bamboo-lid, borosilicate and matte-votive styles. Plan for that in three ways.

Set a reorder point in jars, not in days. Reorder point = jars used per week × the weeks between placing an order and having inspected jars on the shelf (use your own observed figure, not an assumption) + a safety stock of at least one batch. For a golden tin line running two 10 kg batches a week, one batch of safety stock is 120 tins — ten packs.

Qualify a second jar inside the same family. If the black matte jar sells out, a white or royal blue matte jar with the same stated 8 cm × 7 cm dimensions can run on the same wick and card after a one-jar confirmation burn. If the clear 150 g jar is short, a coloured 150 g jar shares its stated dimensions and 85°C line. Families are continuity as much as efficiency.

Put recurring volume in writing. Send the exact listing titles, colours, monthly quantities, delivery pincode and GST number on WhatsApp, and ask how repeat batches and transit breaks are handled. Consolidating jars with wax and wicks on one invoice is weighed up in can I buy all my candle making materials from one supplier; the wax side of a manufacturer's plan is in wholesale soy wax for candle manufacturers, and volume jar buying in buying 1,000 candle jars.

Forty jars is a catalogue. Three jars you can wick, batch and reorder is a factory.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies candle raw materials and containers, not finished candles, and does not make the glass it sells. A jar supplier gains from customers buying more jar styles. This guide argues for fewer, grouped by diameter, because a manufacturer that can wick, batch and reorder a small range reliably is the customer that keeps ordering — and it points out where CSI's own listings leave a number unstated or state it inconsistently.

Every price, pack, diameter, fill and heat line is taken from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and specification always take precedence. Diameters are the outside rim or width figures pages state; inside diameters must be measured.

Frequently asked questions

How many jar sizes should a candle manufacturer stock?
As few as the range allows — a practical start is two or three SKUs across two diameter families, with colours and finishes inside each. Every new shape and diameter needs its own wick test, recipe card, label and box, while a new colour inside a qualified family needs only a confirmation burn. At CSI, the 150 g golden-lid family and the 14-listing matte family both state 7 cm, and the shiny 120 gm jars form a 6 cm family.
Does one wick work for every colour of the same candle jar?
Usually the colour does not change the shape, so qualify the wick on one colour and confirm on each new colour with a single burn from its first delivery. CSI's colour listings within a family state the same dimensions — for example 8 cm × 7 cm across 14 matte, frosted and glossy jars. A different shape with the same diameter, such as the curved 150 g jar against the matte 200 ml jar, needs its own wick test.
How many 150 g candle jars does 10 kg of wax fill?
At an 8% fragrance load each 150 g candle is 138 g of wax, so 10 kg fills 72 jars on paper and 69 with a 5% allowance for spills and top-ups. Buy three packs of 20 and one of 10 of the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid — 70 jars for ₹6,608 — and keep the spare for the delivery check. At 10% the wax per jar is 135 g.
Can CSI supply 500 or 1,000 identical candle jars?
The largest listed packs are 100 for the 200 ml Salsa and Mini Glass Jars, 20 for the 150 g golden-lid jars and 5–12 for most others, so larger quantities are combinations of listed packs at the listed per-jar price, which is the ceiling. For recurring production volumes, send the exact listing, colour, monthly quantity, pincode and GST number on WhatsApp for a quote and ask how repeat batches are matched.
What jar shape is best for candle production?
Shapes with a wide mouth, a stable base and a lid supplied with the jar run fastest. CSI pages state a wide mouth on the 200 ml Salsa jar, a "broad base for wax stability" on the apothecary and 150 g jars, a lid "included with every jar" on the clear 150 g jar, and that the Golden Aluminium Tin "stacks easily". Curved or narrow-necked jars can still be production jars — they simply need more care in pouring and wick centring.
What documentation should a jar supplier provide a manufacturer?
At minimum, GST invoices and product listings that state fill, dimensions, heat line and lid clearly enough to build a spec card. CSI's pages state these fully for some jars, such as the apothecary and 150 g golden-lid families, and partly for others. Confirm anything unstated on WhatsApp in writing before a volume order. MSDS and IFRA documentation apply to the fragrance oils in the candle, and CSI provides them on request.
