What commercial candle making equipment does CSI list? The imported Electric Wax Melter in 10 kg (₹21,240) and 20 kg (₹25,960) capacities, the Wax Pouring Funnel (With 4 nozzles) at ₹1,888, the 600 ml Steel Pouring Pitcher at ₹708, steel wick holders at ₹50 each, the CSI Pro Mixer, scales, thermometers and finishing tools.

How many candles does one melt make? A full 20 kg melt is wax for about 108 × 200g candles at 8%, or 105 with a 3% planning allowance. A full 10 kg melt is about 54, or 52 with the allowance.

Is there an automated candle machine? No. CSI lists no machine that fills, wicks or moulds candles automatically. A commercial line built from CSI equipment is a manual line around a large melter.

What limits output? Rarely the melter. In the illustrative session below, weighing, scenting and blending in 600 ml pitcher loads takes about half the hands-on time; wick positions and cure shelving cap output next.

Every stage is sized from the same number — candles per melt. The lower bar is an illustration, not a measurement: with 600 ml pitcher loads assumed at two candles a trip, scenting and blending take 135 of 261 hands-on minutes, 51.7% of the session, which is why the second scenting station matters more than the size of the tank.

What commercial candle making equipment do I need in India, and how do I size it?
Size the whole line from one number: candles per melt. The imported Electric Wax Melter is the largest equipment CSI lists — ₹21,240 for 10 kg and ₹25,960 for 20 kg, with a stated 60–100°C display and ±10°C deviation — and a full melt is wax for about 54 or 108 × 200g candles at 8% (52 or 105 with a 3% allowance). Everything downstream must match that count: 110 wick positions for a 108-candle pour (₹5,500 of steel wick holders at ₹50 each), 1,728g of fragrance oil, and enough weighing and pouring capacity to move 20 kg of wax through in one session. CSI lists no automated filling, wicking or moulding machine, so this is a manual line: two scenting stations (scale, pen thermometer, CSI Pro Mixer, 600 ml Steel Pouring Pitcher), the 4-nozzle Wax Pouring Funnel at ₹1,888, and finishing tools. Costed, the line is ₹30,234 around the 10 kg melter and ₹37,704 around the 20 kg. In an illustrative session, scenting in pitcher loads is about half of all hands-on time, so a second station relieves more than a larger tank would. After that, cure shelving sets the ceiling: one 108-candle melt five days a week holds 1,080–1,620 candles in a 14–21 day cure.

No automated machines: what a commercial line actually is

Search "commercial candle equipment" and you will see filling machines. CSI does not list one, and most Indian candle businesses do not need one yet.

Say it plainly first. CSI does not list any automated candle-making machine — nothing that doses wax into jars on its own, places wicks, or moulds pillars automatically. What CSI lists for production is melting capacity, pouring tools, a cordless mixer and fixtures. That makes a CSI-equipped commercial line a manual line: people weigh, scent, pour and wick, and the equipment makes each of those steps faster and more consistent.

That is not a lesser version of commercial production. For a business pouring tens to a few hundred candles in a session, a manual line with the right fixture count is flexible in a way automation is not: a scent change is a clean pitcher, not a flushed machine, and a new jar is a new holder, not a re-tooled filler. The trade-off is labour, and the rest of this guide is about spending that labour where it moves the most candles. Start from the melt: candles per melt

Every number on a commercial line flows from the melt. The Electric Wax Melter (Imported) is listed as 10 kgs capacity and 20 kgs capacity. Divide those grams by the wax in one candle and you have the size of every batch the line will handle. For the series standard — a 200g candle at an 8% fragrance load, which is 184g of wax and 16g of oil — the arithmetic is below, with a 3% planning allowance for spills, top-ups and the wax left in pitchers.

The page states a display ranging from 60°C to 100°C with a ±10°C deviation, and that the melter "can melt 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C (for 10 kgs)". It does not state a melt time for the 20 kg size, nor wattage or warranty terms for either, so time your own first 20 kg melt and ask on WhatsApp about the electrical supply before installation. The table converts each capacity into the candle count your line must be built for. Fragrance is per candle: 54 × 16g and 108 × 16g. At Lavender's 1 kg price of ₹5,221, that is ₹4,510.94 and ₹9,021.89 of oil per full melt — one 1 kg bottle covers a 54-candle melt with 136g spare; a 108-candle melt needs two.

Don't plan a line on "80 candles at a time". The melter's page says it can "melt 9.5 liters of candle wax and create 80 candles at a time", but it does not say which capacity that refers to or how heavy those candles are. A number with no candle weight attached cannot size wick positions, oil or shelving. Plan in grams: capacity ÷ wax per candle. If your candle is 150g at 8% (138g of wax), a full 10 kg melt is about 72 candles (10,000 ÷ 138); if it is 250g at 10% (225g of wax), about 44. The melter did not change; the line did.

A full melt is a planning maximum, not a rule. Many commercial makers melt less than capacity for a particular scent or wax. The point is that whatever you melt, the grams decide the candles, and the candles decide everything else. Here is a complete manual line for each melter size, built so one full melt can be scented, poured and wicked in a single session. It uses two scenting stations — each with its own scale, thermometer, mixer and pitcher — because, as the next section shows, scenting is where a commercial session spends most of its hands-on time. Wick positions are sized to one full melt, rounded up to the listed pack sizes.

Two readings of that table matter. The 20 kg line costs ₹7,470 more, and ₹2,750 of that difference is not the melter at all — it is the extra 55 wick positions a bigger melt demands. And per candle of melt capacity the bigger line is cheaper, ₹349.11 against ₹559.89, but only if you actually pour full 20 kg melts. Consumables sit on top: at ₹2.50 a wick sticker, each full melt uses ₹135 of stickers for 54 candles or ₹270 for 108, and the 40-sticker sheet (₹100) is the in-stock size, so that is two or three sheets per melt.

Where the time goes: an illustrative session

Melting is the step everyone budgets for. It is also the step you mostly spend waiting on, not working at.

No CSI page states throughput for a whole line, and it would be wrong to invent one. What can be done honestly is a worksheet: list each hands-on step, attach a time assumption, and see which step dominates. The assumptions below are illustrative only — replace every one with your own timings from a trial melt. What matters is not the exact minutes but the shape: which stage takes the biggest share, and therefore where the next rupee of equipment or the next pair of hands should go.

On those assumptions, scenting in pitcher loads is 51.7% of the hands-on session, more than wick prep, pouring and finishing combined. The reason is volume: a 600 ml pitcher (the stated capacity) is a sensible carrying vessel, but at an assumed two candles per trip, a 108-candle melt is 54 separate weigh-and-blend cycles. That is why the costed line has two scenting stations. With two people each running a station, the elapsed scenting time roughly halves — 135 minutes of work finished in about 67.5 — while the melter, which is the expensive part, sits unchanged.

Rotate two Pro Mixers through a long session
The CSI Pro Mixer page states 30–45 minutes of continuous use per charge and a 2–3 hour charge. At the stated 60–90 seconds per blend, 54 pitcher loads is 54–81 minutes of mixing — between 1.2 and 2.7 charges' worth depending on where you land in both ranges. A single mixer can run flat mid-melt and take hours to recover. Two mixers per station, or one per station charged the night before and rotated, keeps the blend time identical from the first trip to the last.
Buying a bigger tank to fix a scenting bottleneck. If your session is running long, look at where the minutes go before you upgrade the melter. Moving from a 10 kg to a 20 kg melter doubles the wax waiting for you but does nothing to the weigh-and-blend cycle; on the worksheet it doubles scenting time from 67.5 to 135 minutes. A second scenting station — scale ₹354, thermometer ₹354, mixer ₹349, pitcher ₹708, so ₹1,765 — attacks the step that is actually slow. If you pour one scent per melt and want to scent larger portions at once, ask on WhatsApp what the melter supports before changing method; the page does not address adding fragrance in the tank.

Pouring vessels and wick positions

Once wax is scented, two things cap how fast it becomes candles: how the wax gets into the jars, and how many jars are ready to receive it. Pouring vessels set the rhythm. Wick positions set the ceiling, because every jar in a run needs a held wick until the wax sets, so a line with 25 holders can only pour 25 jars before it waits.

The page states 12W × 13H centimetres and a capacity of 600 ml, and describes it for soy, beeswax, paraffin and gel, for votives, pillars and containers. Only the Large (600 ML) is in stock; the Small (150 ML) is sold out. Because the capacity is in millilitres, the "two candles per trip" in the worksheet is an assumption, not a conversion. Fill one with your molten, scented wax to a comfortable working level, weigh it, and replace the assumption with your number — it directly sets how many trips a melt takes. The fixture that decides how many jars a line can pour before it has to wait. The page states heavy-duty, rust-proof, reusable, heat-resistant stainless steel, a 3-hole layout for single, double or triple wicks, and a fit for jars up to 9 cm wide. The listed price is ₹50 a holder in packs of 5, 10 and 25, so size the purchase to one full melt and round up to the packs. For wider vessels, the magnetic Wick Setting Tool (₹399) is the alternative. Cure space: the constraint nobody budgets

A commercial line does not end at the pour. Soy container candles are commonly cured for 14–21 days before they are burn-tested or sold, and every candle you pour sits on a shelf for that long. That turns daily output into standing inventory, and standing inventory needs shelving, floor space and a room that stays out of direct sun. CSI does not sell shelving; this is simply the arithmetic every commercial line has to face before the melter is ordered.

Work it through for your own plan: candles per day × pour days per week × cure weeks. If you cannot shelve 1,620 candles, a 20 kg melt every weekday is not your line, whatever the melter can do. Fewer melts per week, a shorter cure for scent families that settle faster (as covered in how cure time changes the smell of different fragrance families), or a 10 kg melter are all legitimate answers. Cure space is also cash: every candle on the shelf is wax, oil, wick and jar you have paid for and not yet sold.
