Equipment Needed to Manufacture Candles Commercially
शेयर करना
Which stage costs the most? Melting: ₹23,600 of the total. The other six stages together cost ₹8,260.82.
What does CSI not supply for a commercial line? Cure shelving and racks, work tables, and any candle-making machine — no moulding, filling or wicking machines are listed.
What turns equipment into commercial production? A batch record. Every stage has a number to hit — grams, degrees, days — and the equipment only helps if the reading is written down.
Seven stages, seven numbers to hit
The difference between hobby and commercial production is not volume; it is repeatability. A customer who reorders a candle expects the same smell, the same burn and the same look. That only happens if every stage lands on the same measurable value in every batch. So before listing equipment, list the numbers. The table pairs each stage with its target, where the target comes from, the equipment that hits it, and what to record.
| Stage | The number to hit | Where the number comes from | Equipment | Record |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 · Weigh | 184g wax + 16g oil per 200g candle at 8% | Load as a share of the finished candle (series standard) | Scales, beaker | Actual grams of wax and oil per batch |
| 2 · Melt | Wax fully melted, held without overheating | Melter page: display 60–100°C, ±10°C deviation | Electric melter, test melter | Melter setting and a thermometer reading |
| 3 · Blend | Fragrance in at the wax's stated add temperature, mixed fully | Wax page, e.g. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 80–90°C; Eco Soy CSI 400 85°C, stir 2 minutes | Thermometer, mixer, spatula | Add temperature, mixing time, oil lot |
| 4 · Wick | Wick centred and upright until set | Holder page: steel holder fits jars up to 9 cm | Stickers, holders, setting tool, inserter | Wick type and size per vessel |
| 5 · Pour | Pour at the wax's stated pour temperature, below the jar's hot-pour limit | Wax page (e.g. CSI 468 58–60°C) · jar page (e.g. 85°C) | Funnel, pitcher, thermometer | Pour temperature, room temperature, jar lot |
| 6 · Cure & test | 14–21 days before sale; burn test before release | Standard practice for soy containers; Luxury Soy Chunks page: minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks before burn tests | Shelving (source locally), lighter | Pour date, release date, burn-test result |
| 7 · Finish | Smooth top, trimmed wick, care label on every candle | Hot air gun page: 5–6 cm distance at about 45° | Hot air gun, wick cutter, scraper, care stickers | Rejects and reason |
Read the "where the number comes from" column carefully, because it is the most common source of commercial failure. The melter's dial shows the melter's temperature, with a stated ±10°C deviation; your wax's product page gives the temperatures that matter; your jar's product page gives the heat the glass is rated for. Three different pages, three different numbers, one thermometer to reconcile them. Which is why the thermometer, not the melter, is the most-used piece of equipment on the line.
The four instruments that run through every stage
Four inexpensive instruments appear at more stages than any other equipment. Buy them first, buy one per bench, and never let a batch start without them. Prices are CSI live pricing, September 2026.

Stages 1–3: weigh, melt, blend
These three stages decide the candle's chemistry: how much oil, in how much wax, added at what temperature. Get them right and the rest of the line is handling. Get them wrong and no amount of careful pouring will fix the throw.
Weigh. Fragrance load is a percentage of the finished candle. A 200g candle at 8% is 184g of wax and 16g of oil; at 10% it is 180g and 20g. A 54-candle batch at 8% needs 9,936g of wax and 864g of oil — so a 1 kg bottle of fragrance covers about 62 candles at that load. Some wax pages phrase their load as a share of wax weight instead; pick one convention for your whole line and record it on every batch sheet.
Melt. The commercial melter is the Electric Wax Melter (Imported). Its page states 9.5 litres, 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C, a 60–100°C display and a ±10°C deviation. The 20 kg model is ₹25,960, ₹4,720 more. Keep the 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melter (₹2,360; Gear I approximately 70–85°C, Gear II up to 100–120°C; 1-year warranty stated) for test batches, so a new fragrance never means draining the production tank. The melter decision in depth is in professional wax melters for candle making.
| Wax | Stated add temperature | Stated pour temperature | Stated melt point | Equipment note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luxury Soy Wax Chunks | 80–90°C | 70–80°C in the how-to; 75–80°C in the details | Not stated | Within the melter's display range |
| Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 | Not stated | 80–90°C (page states melt and pour at 80–90°C) | 80–90°C | Follow the page; log what you actually used |
| Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 | Not stated | 58–60°C | 50–53°C | Pour temperature sits at the bottom of the melter's 60°C display floor — cool in the pitcher and read the thermometer |
| Eco Soy CSI 400 | 85°C (80–90°C), stir 2 minutes | Not stated ("pour directly") | Stated as 100°F (37.8°C) | A 2-minute stir, or the mixer's timed run |
Stages 4–5: wick and pour
Wick. Fix each wick with a wick sticker (₹2.50 each in sheets of 40), then hold it upright with a Steel Wick Holder (₹50 a position, stated for jars up to 9 cm). Buy positions for your largest pour round: 25 for a 25-jar tray. Vessels wider than 9 cm need a different holder — the Apothecary Glass Candle Jar, for example, states an outer rim of approximately 10 cm, so use the magnetic Wick Setting Tool (₹399) for that line. A ₹59 wick inserter completes the station.
Pour. The Wax Pouring Funnel with 4 nozzles (₹1,888) fills a tray in rounds; its page describes food-grade stainless steel, a lever, a rack and a silicone plug, but states no capacity, so time a tray of your own jars before planning with it. The 600 ml Steel Pouring Pitcher (₹708) handles small runs, top-ups and temperature-sensitive waxes. Check the jar's page before the first pour: the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid and the Apothecary jar both state they are safe for hot pour up to 85°C. Why pour temperature shows up in the finished top is explained in wet spots and sinkholes: the pouring temperature truth.
Stages 6–7: cure, test, finish
Cure and test. Soy container candles are normally cured for 14–21 days before sale, and the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page advises at least 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks, before burn testing. The equipment here is mostly space, which CSI does not supply: shelving or racks out of sunlight, away from heat, with lids on. Plan it from your pour rhythm. As an illustration: three 54-candle pours a week is 162 candles a week; with a three-week cure, about 486 candles sit on shelves at any time once production is steady. From every batch, pull one candle for a burn test after cure and light it with an electric lighter — the Candle Lighter Electric (₹354) states it charges in about an hour and gives more than 500 sparks. The hot-throw testing guide has the score sheet.
Finish. After setting: glossy tops with the hot air gun, wicks trimmed with a wick cutter (₹295, stated 5.5 cm blade), spills lifted with a steel scraper (₹236), and a care label on every candle from a care sticker roll (500 for ₹413, 1,000 for ₹699). The Candle Wick Trimmer page suggests trimming to 1/4 inch before every burn — a useful line for the customer care label.
The costed commercial checklist
Here is the complete equipment list by stage, with what to add when a second wax or a second bench arrives, and what you will need to source elsewhere because CSI does not list it. Consumables — wax, oil, wicks, jars, wick stickers, care labels — are not included; they belong in your cost per candle.
| Stage | Essential equipment from CSI | Stage cost | Add at scale (listed) | Source elsewhere |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 · Weigh | 2 × Weighing Scale (₹708) · Silicon Measuring Beaker 250 ML (₹600) | ₹1,308 | A third scale per extra bench (₹354) | A higher-capacity platform scale if yours cannot take full wax portions |
| 2 · Melt | Electric Wax Melter 10 kg (₹21,240) · Mini Electric Wax Melter 1 L (₹2,360) | ₹23,600 | Second 10 kg melter for a second wax (₹21,240) or 20 kg model (₹25,960) | Dedicated power point for the melter |
| 3 · Blend | 2 × Pen Thermometer (₹708) · CSI Pro Mixer (₹349) · Silicone Spatula (₹175.82) | ₹1,232.82 | Extra thermometer (₹354) | — |
| 4 · Wick | Steel Wick Holder 25 (₹1,250) · Wick Setting Tool (₹399) · Wick Inserter (₹59) | ₹1,708 | 25 more positions (₹1,250) | — |
| 5 · Pour | Wax Pouring Funnel, 4 nozzles (₹1,888) · Steel Pouring Pitcher 600 ml (₹708) | ₹2,596 | Second funnel (₹1,888) · second pitcher (₹708) | Heat-resistant trays for jars |
| 6 · Cure & test | Candle Lighter Electric (₹354) | ₹354 | — | Shelving or racks; cartons for lidded jars |
| 7 · Finish | Hot Air Gun (₹531) · Wick Cutter, 5.5 cm blade (₹295) · Steel Scraper (₹236) | ₹1,062 | — | Packing table; boxes from the packaging range |
| Total | ₹31,860.82 | Listed add-ons above: second melter, funnel, 25 holders, pitcher, thermometer = ₹25,440 → ₹57,300.82 |
Spread across production, the essential list is ₹15.93 a candle over the first 2,000 candles and ₹3.19 over 10,000. The scale-up column shows the real pattern of commercial growth: the second phase is not new kinds of equipment but duplicates of the first — a second melter so two waxes run side by side, a second funnel so two people pour, more positions. If you plan a pillar or moulded line alongside containers, add moulds, sealer and a wicking needle: four Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Moulds (₹942.82 each), a pack of mould sealer (₹472) and a wicking needle (₹472) come to ₹4,715.28, and a pillar wax such as Soy Pillar Wax is a separate purchase.
The batch record that makes it commercial
Every instrument on the checklist produces a reading, and a reading nobody writes down is wasted. One sheet per batch — or one row in a spreadsheet — turns the equipment into a controlled process. Here is the order in which the record fills in as the batch moves down the line.
Five lines per batch, perhaps two minutes of writing. It is also the most useful document you will have when a wax or fragrance lot changes, when a new team member starts, or when you ask your supplier a technical question. For the room those stages sit in — layout, flow and daily capacity — see candle manufacturing setup equipment; for whether any of this needs a machine, see candle making machines for small business.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and candle-making equipment, not finished candles. A commercial-equipment page could simply list the most expensive items. This one puts a ₹354 thermometer beside a ₹21,240 melter and says the thermometer matters as much, names what CSI does not supply — shelving, work tables, candle-making machines — and tells you where product pages leave out a capacity or range, because a commercial line cannot run on an assumed number.
Every price and specification comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Temperatures, capacities and hot-pour limits are quoted only as the wax, jar and equipment pages state them; where a page gives two figures (the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks pour temperature) both are shown. The cure-shelf figure is an illustration with its assumptions stated.

Stage 4 — Steel Wick Holder pack of 25 ₹1,250 (up to 9 cm jars), Wick Setting Tool ₹399, Wick Inserter ₹59 = ₹1,708; Candle Wick Stickers 40 ₹100. Stage 5 — Wax Pouring Funnel (With 4 nozzles) ₹1,888 (capacity not stated), Steel Pouring Pitcher Large (600 ml) ₹708 = ₹2,596. Stage 6 — Candle Lighter Electric ₹354. Stage 7 — Hot Air Gun ₹531 (about 200°C, not adjustable, 5–6 cm at about 45°), Candle Wick Cutter ₹295 (5.5 cm blade), Steel Scraper ₹236 = ₹1,062. Total ₹31,860.82; melting ₹23,600 = 74%. Scale-up: ₹21,240 + ₹1,888 + ₹1,250 + ₹708 + ₹354 = ₹25,440; ₹57,300.82 in all. Per candle: ₹31,860.82 ÷ 2,000 = ₹15.93; ÷ 10,000 = ₹3.19. Pillar add-on: 4 × Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Mould ₹942.82 + Candle Mold Sealer ₹472 + Premium Candle Wicking Needle ₹472 = ₹4,715.28. Care sticker roll 500 ₹413, 1,000 ₹699. Wax specifications as stated on product pages: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks add 80–90°C, pour 70–80°C (how-to) and 75–80°C (details), cure minimum 48 hours ideally 1–2 weeks before burn tests; CSI 464 melting point and pour 80–90°C; CSI 468 melt 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C; Eco Soy CSI 400 add at 85°C (80–90°C), stir 2 minutes. Jar hot-pour limits: Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) and Apothecary Glass Candle Jar (approximately 10 cm rim) safe to 85°C. Candle maths: 200g candle at 8% = 184g wax + 16g oil; 54 candles = 9,936g wax + 864g oil; 1,000g oil ÷ 16g = 62 candles. Cure-shelf illustration assumes three 54-candle pours a week and a three-week cure: 162 × 3 = 486. Cure of 14–21 days is standard practice for soy container candles.
