Test whether 25 kg is actually enough
Say you expect to sell 120 candles of 200 g across the season. CSI's planning guides add a 10% festive buffer, which takes you to 132 candles. The wax is 132 × 184 g = 24,288 g, and with 5% for losses about 25.5 kg. So 25 kg is just short. The table's 135 candles assumes no loss at all.
The festive squeeze: Running out in the week before Diwali, when everybody is ordering. With Dhanteras on 6 November 2026 and Diwali on 8 November, the last reorder must go in well before that week, not during it.
Stage the purchase
On CSI 464, a 10 kg bag costs the same per kilogram as a 1 kg bag, so staging carries no penalty on the listed price. A sensible split is the first 10 kg now for tests and early orders, the second 10 kg before Navratri begins on 11 October, and the last 5 kg once you can see what Dussehra on 20 October and Karwa Chauth on 29 October have done to demand. If demand is thin, you have not tied up money in wax you will carry into next year.
