Twenty-nine sealed bags on the floor of a ground-floor unit in July is asking for trouble. Put them on pallets or racks, clear of outside walls, in the coolest dry room you have. CSI 464 states a shelf life of 60 months in cool, dry storage. The condition is the part to take seriously, because north and west Indian summers routinely reach 40–45°C and the monsoon brings months of humidity.
Stack so the oldest bag is always at the front. Mark the arrival date on each bag and pour first in, first out.
Stage it in tranches
There is no price reason on CSI 464 to take every bag on day one: the 10 kg bag is ₹5,074.00, the same ₹507.40 per kilogram as a single 1 kg bag. Three deliveries of, say, 10 bags, 10 bags and 9 bags keep roughly a third of the wax in your building at any time and let your cash follow your production.
What goes wrong with tranches: The second or third delivery is needed in the middle of a festive rush and the line stops while you wait. Place each tranche while you still have a full tranche of stock in hand, not when the last bag is open.
The rest of the bill of materials
Wax is not the only bulk item. At 24 g per candle, 1,000 candles need 24 kg of fragrance oil, or 25.2 kg with 5%. You will need 1,000 C2 wicks plus spares, or twice that if testing shows a double wick.
