I Need 100 Kg Soy Wax Every Month for My Candle Business — Which Supplier in India Can Handle Regular Bulk Orders?

100 kg a month is 1,200 kg a year

When a maker says "I need 100 kg a month", a supplier hears an order. What the maker actually needs is a year of wax that behaves identically, arrives before each pour window and never forces a recipe change mid-season. That is a different request, and the first step is to see its real size. At 184g of wax in a 200g candle at 8%, 1,200 kg is about 6,522 candles a year; at CSI listed prices it is between ₹4.79 lakh and ₹7.64 lakh of wax depending on which you pour.

Two things in that table matter for regular supply specifically. The packs-a-year column is your handling load: 240 bags of Eco Soy CSI 400 is a lot of opening, weighing and disposal compared with 24 packs of Natural Soy Pearl Wax. And the annual ceiling is the size of the relationship you are asking a supplier to commit to — worth stating plainly when you ask for a recurring quote, because "1,200 kg a year of CSI 464, in 10 kg bags" tells a supplier far more than "100 kg a month". Ten questions that test whether a supplier can handle regular orders

Regularity is a separate test. It is about what happens in month seven, in the week before Diwali, or when your wax is short. Your 100 kg is not 100 kg every month

The diagram at the top of this page is illustrative, but its shape is familiar to most Indian candle brands: quieter summer months, a build from August, a festive peak around Diwali, and steady gifting demand into December. Replace the numbers with your own last twelve months. The point is that the question "can you handle 100 kg a month?" becomes "can you handle 175 kg in October?" the moment you look at the year.

The seasonal index is simply each month's wax divided by the monthly average. It turns a forecast into one line of arithmetic: next October ≈ your expected average for next year × last October's index. If you expect to average 110 kg next year, October is 110 × 1.75 ≈ 193 kg — twenty bags, not eleven. Send that number to your supplier months ahead, because it is the number that tests their capacity.

A buffer sized from evidence, not a round number

A regular order still needs safety stock, and at 100 kg a month the useful way to size it is from your own delivery log. Assume 25 production days a month, so an average month uses 4 kg a day and the illustrative October uses 7 kg a day. The buffer then has two parts: daily use × (slowest delivery − typical delivery, in days) to cover variable arrival, plus (peak daily use − average daily use) × slowest delivery in the months that run hot.

A worked line, using made-up round numbers for the arithmetic only: if your log showed a typical delivery at X days and a slowest at X + 4, a normal month needs a 16 kg buffer — two bags. If that slowest delivery took 7 days, October adds 3 × 7 = 21 kg, so the October buffer is about 37 kg — four bags. Written answers are promises. A pilot turns them into a record. Ninety days is long enough to see three or more drops, at least one delivery under pressure and a price conversation, and short enough to change course before a festive season depends on it.

No buffer covers every disruption. It can be a second wax from the same supplier or from another; what matters is that it is tested.

A 10 kg qualification batch is roughly 54 × 200g candles and about 1% of a year's wax at listed prices — cheap insurance for a line of 6,500 candles. Run it in a quiet month (April to July in the illustrative year), keep the recipe card alongside your primary's, and re-burn one candle from each every quarter so the backup stays proven.
