₹4,720: what the second 10 kg actually buys

Both sizes are the same listing: the Electric Wax Melter (Imported), variants "10 kgs capacity" and "20 kgs capacity". The page states a display from 60°C to 100°C "helpful for melting different types of wax like soy wax, bee wax, paraffin, and coconut wax", a ±10°C deviation, and a melt of 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C for the 10 kg size, with "around 20 kgs for the bigger melter". It does not state wattage, warranty terms or a melt time for the 20 kg. So on paper the two differ in one respect — capacity — and the decision is about how much of that capacity your sessions use.

The last three rows are the ones professionals often skip. A single 20 kg tank is the cheapest way to hold a lot of one wax. It is no help if your range uses two waxes on the same day, because a tank holds one wax at one temperature. Two 10 kg melters cost ₹16,520 more than one 20 kg and solve exactly that problem. A 10 kg melter with a mini beside it, at ₹23,600, is the budget version: the big tank carries the main container wax and the mini carries a small batch of something that needs different handling.

The session test: when 20 kg earns its place

Here is the decision in the form a professional can check against last month's production sheet. Take each pouring session, note how much of a single wax it used, and count how many melts that is on each size. The stated melt time appears only where the page gives one — for a full 10 kg of soy on the 10 kg model.

The pattern is simple. Up to 10 kg per wax per session, the 10 kg melter is the professional choice, and the ₹4,720 is better spent on a pen thermometer, a second pitcher and wax. Above 10 kg, the 10 kg still does the job in two melts; the 20 kg earns its place when that second melt is a routine interruption rather than an occasional one, and when you value a single, uninterrupted batch of one wax lot. Because the page gives no 20 kg melt time, do not assume a full 20 kg melts in the same half hour as 10 kg; time your first one.

Holding temperatures by wax

A professional melter spends most of its working day holding, not melting: keeping wax liquid and at a workable temperature while you draw, scent and pour. The right holding temperature is not a property of the melter. It comes from the wax, and several CSI wax pages state it. The table lists every stated temperature for the waxes most often run through a professional melter, and where each one sits against the melter's stated 60–100°C display. Where a page states nothing, the table says so.

Two cautions come out of that table. First, the page's melt time is stated at 100°C, which is above every stated add temperature on the list. Melting at 100°C and adding fragrance at 100°C are not the same instruction: bring the wax down and confirm it in the wax before oil goes in. The reasoning is in the best temperature for adding fragrance oil to soy wax. Second, ±10°C on a display set to 85°C means the wax could plausibly be anywhere from 75°C to 95°C. Every wax window above is narrower than that, which is why the display tells you roughly where you are and the thermometer tells you whether to pour.

Running CSI 468 in a hot-display melter

Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 is where a professional melter's settings stop matching a wax's needs. Its page states a melting point of 50–53°C and a pour of 58–60°C. The Electric Wax Melter's display starts at 60°C, so the pour temperature sits exactly at its floor, and the stated ±10°C deviation means the display cannot tell you when you are in that two-degree window. The Mini Electric Wax Melter's Gear I is stated as approximately 70–85°C, also above it. Neither is a problem once you stop trying to pour CSI 468 straight from the tank.

Batch scheduling across waxes and scents

A melter is one tank. A professional range is several waxes and many scents. Scheduling is how the two fit together without constant cleaning, temperature swings or cross-scented candles. Four rules carry most of the weight.

One wax per tank per session. A wax change means emptying and cleaning the tank, so batch all of one wax together. Scent in pitchers, never in the tank. Weigh oil into each pitcher portion, so the tank stays unscented and a scent change costs a pitcher wash rather than a tank clean. Group hot-pouring waxes; isolate the cool one. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, CSI 464 and Eco Soy CSI 400 all state temperatures in the 70–90°C region and can follow one another across a week; CSI 468 goes on its own day or in a mini. Put changeovers next to non-melt work, such as finishing, labelling or packing days, so cleaning never interrupts a pour.

On this example week, the 20 kg melter saves two melts, both on the Chunks days, and runs part-loads on the other two melt days. That is roughly the profile where the ₹4,720 is justified: two or more days a week that need more than a full 10 kg of one wax. If your week looked like Wednesday and Friday five days running, the 10 kg melter would be the right buy.
