Why 100 kg changes what you need from a supplier

When you buy a kilo of soy wax, price and convenience are sensible ways to choose. At 100 kg a month the calculation changes, because the supplier is no longer selling you a product — they are carrying part of your production. One hundred kilos is about 543 × 200g candles at 8%. It is ₹39,920 to ₹63,700 of wax at CSI's listed prices, depending on the wax. And unlike a kilo, it is not easily replaced mid-month if something is wrong.

Three risks grow with volume. The first is specification drift: you proved a recipe on one wax, and a delivery arrives that behaves differently in your jar. The second is supply interruption: the wax is not there on your pour day. The third is paperwork: a stockist or corporate buyer asks for an invoice, a safety data sheet or fragrance documentation, and you cannot produce it. Price still matters — but a supplier who is ₹20 a kilo cheaper and fails on any of those three is not cheaper.

That last row is why a 100 kg buyer needs a written checklist rather than a gut feel. The 10-point supplier checklist

Every point on the list is something you can check yourself, before or during a trial order, without relying on the supplier's description of itself. Use it on any supplier you are considering, CSI included.

Notice what is not on the list: the supplier's claims about itself. "Premium quality", "India's best", "trusted by thousands" and "manufacturer" are not checks, because you cannot verify them from a trial order. A supplier that says it is a manufacturer may or may not be one; what matters to your candles is whether the wax you receive matches the specification you tested and the invoice you paid. How CSI measures up — including the gaps

Read honestly, that is six "Meets" and four "Partly". The pattern in the "Partly" rows is consistent: CSI's strongest ground is on the waxes with fuller published specifications — Luxury Soy Chunks, CSI 464 and CSI 468 — and on the practical side of buying (listed prices, a sampling ladder, one channel for invoices and documents). The weaker ground is where the product page states nothing, where the listed pack stops short of 100 kg, and where consistency has to be proven by your own checks. None of those gaps is hidden, and each has a practical workaround. Whether that is enough is your decision, and it should be made after a 1 kg and a 10 kg order, not before.

Published specifications, wax by wax

Check 1 deserves its own table, because at 100 kg the specification is the contract you test every delivery against. The table shows exactly what each CSI soy wax product page states, and — just as useful — what it does not. It also counts the fields stated, so you can see at a glance which waxes arrive with the most to hold them to.

The four fields counted are fragrance load, temperatures, stated use and shelf life; the temperature field counts as stated if any add, melt or pour figure is given. Two notes on reading it. First, a stated load is a formulation limit for that wax, not a regulatory limit and not a target. Second, the CSI 464 page gives the same 80–90°C range for both melting point and pour temperature; follow the page, record the temperature you actually use, and hold it constant across every delivery so that any change you see is the wax, not your process.

The sampling path: 1 kg → 10 kg → 100 kg

Check 8 turns into a plan. The sampling path is how a supplier earns a recurring order — and how you avoid learning about a supplier with 100 kg of your money. Each step answers a different question, and each costs a predictable amount at listed prices.

The share is almost identical on every wax because per-kilo prices are nearly flat. And it is not a cost in the usual sense: the 1 kg becomes about nine 120g test jars and the 10 kg becomes about 54 × 200g candles you sell. What it buys is the right to trust the next 100 kg.

Paperwork, recurring terms and red flags

Once a supplier has passed the sampling path, the last job is to write down what you have agreed so that month seven looks like month one. None of this needs a lawyer; it needs a WhatsApp message you can scroll back to and an invoice folder.
