When Should a Candle Business Start Buying Wax in Bulk?

Is 10 kg cheaper than 1 kg? Only for Pearl and CSI 468 on CSI's listed prices.
How do I calculate it? Wax grams (92% of fill) × price per gram.
Does bulk save money? Little on listed packs; ask for a quote above them.
Start buying in bulk when one of three things is true: you use the wax fast enough, you need one batch for consistency, or a real per-kilogram break exists. Otherwise wait.
What buying bigger saves on 100 kg a year
| Wax | 1 kg per kg | Best listed per kg | Saving on 100 kg |

| Soy Pillar Wax | ₹600.00 | ₹600.00 | ₹0.00 |
On Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, the 500 g bag is the cheapest per kilogram (₹598.00) and the 10 kg bag the dearest (₹599.90) — 10 kg costs ₹9 more than ten 1 kg bags. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes) and Soy Pillar Wax cost the same per kilogram at every size. Eco Soy CSI 400's 5 kg bag is ₹1 dearer than five 1 kg bags. The real breaks: Natural Soy Pearl Wax falls from ₹450.00 to ₹424.80 per kg from 5 kg (5.6%), and Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (flakes) from ₹650.00 to ₹637.00 (2.0%).
Three triggers
How to tell you have reached a bulk trigger, not just a busy week
The three triggers are simple to state. The hard part is knowing, honestly, that you have hit one. A good month after an exhibition or a festive rush can feel like a new level of demand when it is really a spike. Buying in bulk on a spike leaves you with a large bag and a quiet shelf.
Measure the volume trigger over weeks, not days
Weigh your open wax bag every Monday for six to eight weeks. If the average use would empty a 10 kg bag in about a month, you are there. For 200 g candles that is roughly 50 candles a month, since 50 × 184 g with 5% wastage is about 9.7 kg. Below that pace, a 10 kg bag is fine to buy but it is not a necessity.
The consistency trigger comes from an order, not a habit
If a client wants 250 candles of 200 g that must match, you need about 48.3 kg of wax including wastage. Buying that as one order, rather than in dribs and drabs as you go, gives you the best chance of the whole job coming from one supply. For CSI 464 the listed-pack cost for that amount is ₹24,615.20.
The price trigger is narrower than it looks
On CSI's listed prices, only two waxes reward size. Pearl drops 5.6% at 5 kg and CSI 468 drops 2.0% at 5 kg. For CSI 464, Eco Soy CSI 400, Soy Pillar Wax and the Chunks, bulk buys you convenience, not a lower price. Above the listed packs, the only route to a better rate is a quote on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926), with no promise that one will be offered. One pillar-wax buyer wrote in a review, "Hope to get some discount in future for bulk buys". That hope is reasonable to raise; it is not something to plan a budget around.
Where this page fits
This page overlaps an older CSI guide, so it takes a narrower job and leaves the rest to that guide. In the Candle Business series, CSI-954 (when to start buying in bulk) covers the business side.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.
Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Collection counts: Candle Wax 15, Fragrance Oils 93, Candle Wicks 7, Containers 81, Moulds 62, Dyes 25.
Assumptions: Fragrance load 8% of total candle weight, so wax is 92% of the fill (a 200 g candle = 184 g wax + 16 g oil). Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
