Where to Buy Raw Materials for Making 1,000 Candles in India
शेयर करना
What does it cost from one supplier? At CSI's listed prices, 1,000 × 150g candles at 8% need ₹2,34,277.40 of materials: 15 × 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 12 kg of oil across four scents, 1,000 Eco Candle Wicks, 1,000 wick stickers, 1,000 jars and a 1,000-sticker care roll.
What costs the most? The jar: ₹94.40 of the ₹234.28 per candle, ahead of wax (₹76.11) and oil (₹54.67). Swapping to a cheaper jar changes the basket more than swapping wax.
What won't one supplier cover? CSI does not list candle-making machines, UV inhibitor, pre-tabbed wicks or custom printed brand labels. Plan those separately.
The 1,000-candle shopping list, before any supplier
Fix one candle and multiply it. This guide uses a 150g candle at an 8% load — 138g of wax and 12g of oil — because the jar in the basket, the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid, states a "150g fill capacity", so every line rests on a stated number rather than an ml-to-grams guess. If your jar states only millilitres, fill and weigh one first. The wax and oil arithmetic for 200g candles is in how much wax for 1,000 candles and how much fragrance oil for 1,000 candles.
| Material | Per candle | For 1,000 | Plan on top | Where the maths comes from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Container wax | 138 g | 138 kg | 3–5% planning allowance → 142.1–144.9 kg | 150g × (1 − 0.08) |
| Fragrance oil | 12 g | 12 kg across your scents | Weighed per melt; round each scent to bottles | 150g × 0.08 |
| Wicks | 1 | 1,000 | Test two thicknesses before committing | One per single-wick candle |
| Wick stickers | 1 | 1,000 | — | One per wick base |
| Jars with lids | 1 | 1,000 | Your own spare count for breakage and rejects | Stated 150g fill |
| Care stickers | 1 | 1,000 | — | One per jar |
| Outer boxes (optional) | 1 | 1,000 | Check fit with one filled jar | Depends on how you ship |
| Tools (once) | — | Melter, pitcher, scale, thermometer, centering devices | Bought once, reused for every run | Throughput, not candle count |
Two lines on that list are commonly under-planned. The wax allowance covers melter residue, top-ups and rejects — a planning figure you replace with your own measured loss after the first run. And the jar count needs a spare margin of your own choosing: this guide will not invent a breakage rate, but a run with exactly 1,000 jars and one cracked lid is a run of 999 candles. For the complete list of raw materials a candle business uses beyond this run, see the complete candle making raw material list.
Where the materials can come from
In India, a 1,000-candle run can be sourced through six broad routes. None is universally right, and this guide names no businesses — the point is what each type of source is structurally good at, and what you would need to check before relying on it for a run this size.
| Route | Typically good for | Check before relying on it | Fit at 1,000 candles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Specialist candle-making supplier | Candle-grade wax, oils, wicks, jars and packaging from one catalogue; sample sizes up to bulk packs | Largest listed pack per material; whether specs are published; bulk quote channel; stock visibility | Strong — the whole list on one order |
| Wax or industrial chemical trader | Large wax quantities | Whether a candle fragrance load and pour temperature are stated; grade naming; minimum order; no wicks, jars or oils | Wax only; the rest comes from elsewhere |
| Online marketplace | Speed, small quantities, trying a product | Who the actual seller is; whether the same listing is the same product next time; invoice type; specification detail | Harder to keep identical across 1,000 units and a reorder |
| Glass and packaging wholesaler | Jars and boxes by the carton | Hot-pour rating; lid fit; per-design minimums; breakage in transit; separate delivery to receive and inspect | Jars and boxes only |
| Fragrance or perfumery house | Wide scent libraries, larger containers | Candle suitability; MSDS and IFRA documents per oil; minimum per scent | Oils only; a minimum per scent can force a smaller range |
| Direct import | Unit cost at volumes far beyond one run | Customs, cash paid well ahead, lead time, no local returns, testing before shipment | Rarely sensible for a single 1,000-candle run |
The hidden cost of splitting is not on any price list. Four suppliers means four orders to place, four deliveries to receive, four sets of paperwork, and four points where one late or wrong item stops the whole run — a correct wax delivery is worthless on the day the jars have not arrived. It also means four sources of specification that must agree with each other: a jar's hot-pour limit has to sit above your wax's stated pour temperature, and a wick has to be tested in that jar with that wax. The broader question of consolidating is covered in can I buy all my candle making materials from one supplier.
Ten questions to ask any supplier
Ask these of every candidate supplier, including CSI. The right-hand column answers them for CSI from what is actually listed in September 2026 — including the answers that are "no" or "ask".
| # | Question | Why it matters at 1,000 | CSI's answer |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Does each wax page state a fragrance load and temperatures? | You plan 12 kg of oil and a pour schedule from it | Yes for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (8–13%), CSI 464 (up to 10%) and CSI 468 (up to 13%); Eco Soy CSI 400 states add temperature only; Natural Soy Pearl Wax states none |
| 2 | What is the largest listed pack of each material? | It sets how many packs you open and store | Soy wax 10 kg (Natural Soy Pearl 50 kg); fragrance 1 kg; Eco wicks 1,000; Salsa jars 100; Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid 20 |
| 3 | Is the price per unit visible for every pack? | You can check whether bigger packs actually cost less | Yes — listed per pack; flat on most waxes and Eco wicks, stepped on some jars, oils and wooden wicks |
| 4 | Can you see what is out of stock? | A sold-out line found at checkout stalls a run | Yes — sold-out variants are flagged, e.g. the 100-sticker wick sheet and 10-pack of C2 wicks at the time of writing |
| 5 | Is there a sampling path? | Test before 1,000 units | 500 g and 1 kg wax; 15 g and 50 g oils; 10-packs of wicks and jars |
| 6 | Is there a bulk quote channel? | Listed prices are the ceiling at this volume | WhatsApp +91 7397976926; this guide does not predict the quote |
| 7 | GST invoice? | Input credit and clean books for a registered business | GST invoicing is handled on WhatsApp |
| 8 | MSDS and IFRA documents for oils? | Retail and corporate buyers may ask | Available on request via WhatsApp |
| 9 | What don't you stock? | Gaps must be sourced in time | No candle-making machines, UV inhibitor, pre-tabbed wicks or custom printed brand labels |
| 10 | What is the lead time to my pincode? | It sets your reorder point and pour dates | Not published here — ask with your pincode and measure it on the first order |
The one-supplier basket, costed
Here is the complete 1,000 × 150g run priced from CSI's listed packs. The oil is split 30/25/25/20 across Lavender, Jasmine, Sandalwood and Orchard Pear and rounded to the cheapest sensible listed bottles. Wicks are Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1); the Thick (C2) alternative is shown because the jar page states no wick size, so both should be tested. Boxes and tools are separated because not every run needs them.

The basket answers the question most buyers really have: what does a 1,000-candle run cost in materials before labour, packaging design and shipping? At listed prices, ₹234.28 a candle for this jar, this wax and these oils. With boxes it is ₹256.70. The shares are what should shape your sourcing effort. The jar is 40.3% of the basket, the wax 32.5%, the oil 23.3%, and wicks and stickers together about 3.9%. Negotiating hard on wicks saves paise; choosing the jar well saves rupees.
The jar line shows it most clearly. The 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with Golden Lid lists at ₹2,950 per 100 — ₹29.50 a jar — so 1,000 of them are ₹29,500, ₹64,900 less than the jar in the basket. But its capacity is stated only as "200ml", so the wax and oil lines cannot simply be copied across: fill and weigh one with your wax, then re-run the list. That is the sourcing decision with the biggest rupee value in the whole run, and it is a design choice as much as a price one.
The four lines that decide the basket
Four listed lines either carry most of the cost or decide whether the run works at all: the wax and the jar are 72.8% of the basket, and the wick and care roll are the lines most easily left until too late. Each card shows every listed pack with its per-unit price.

What one supplier won't cover
One-supplier sourcing is only honest if the gaps are named. For a 1,000-candle run, these are the items CSI does not list, or lists only in ways that affect planning — and what to do about each.
| Item | Listed at CSI? | Closest listed option | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Candle-making machines (filling, moulding, wicking) | No | Electric Wax Melter 10 kg ₹21,240 / 20 kg ₹25,960; Wax Pouring Funnel (4 nozzles) ₹1,888 | A 1,000-candle run is manageable with a melter and hand pouring; machines are a separate equipment purchase |
| UV inhibitor | No | — | If coloured candles will sit in light, source and test separately |
| Pre-tabbed wicks | Not described as such | Eco Candle Wicks; Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made; Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs ₹706.82 | Ask on WhatsApp for specifics; test the wick you choose |
| Custom printed brand labels | No | Candle Care Stickers Roll (care information, not branding) | Brief a label printer early, alongside the material order |
| Fragrance above 1 kg per bottle | Not listed | 1 kg, 500 g, 100 g bottles | 12 kg is a set of bottles; quote on WhatsApp |
| Soy wax above 10 kg per bag | Only Natural Soy Pearl Wax lists 50 kg | 10 kg bags on five soy waxes | 150 kg is 15 bags; CSI 464's page mentions a 25 kg format not listed as a variant — ask |
| 1,000-jar packs | Not listed | Salsa jars in 100s; Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid in 20s | Quote the full jar count on WhatsApp |
Sample, quote, stage: the buying path
The safest way to buy 1,000 candles' worth of materials is to spend about 1.4% of the basket first. The sample below lets you pour ten 150g jars across the four scents, on both wick thicknesses, using the same wax and jar as the full run.
If the run is for a single date — Diwali on 8 November 2026 is the obvious one — work the staging backwards from the ship date through a 14–21 day cure and your pour days; the full festive version is in manufacturing 1,000 candles for Diwali. If it will repeat every month, the conversation becomes a supply arrangement rather than a basket, and wholesale candle making raw materials across India is the better starting point.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A "where to buy" guide written by a supplier has an obvious bias, so this one names the gaps first: CSI does not list candle-making machines, UV inhibitor, pre-tabbed wicks or custom printed labels, no fragrance oil is listed above 1 kg and no jar in a 1,000-pack, and delivery lead times are not published here. It describes other sourcing routes by type and names no other business.
Every price, pack size and specification on this page comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Wax loads and temperatures and the jar's fill and hot-pour limit are quoted only as the product pages state them; loads are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. The 3–5% wax allowance and the 30/25/25/20 scent split are planning assumptions.
