Three lavenders, three products

Lavender is the most universally recognised scent in any Indian candle range. It needs no story, no explanation and no education: a customer who has never bought a candle before will pick it up. That makes it the natural anchor of a small range — the listing that carries volume while your signature scents carry the brand. It is also why lavender is the family where makers most often overpay, because the temptation is to reach for the more elaborate bottle when the plain one is doing the job.

CSI's three lavender-led listings are not three grades of the same thing. Lavender Fragrance Oil is single-note: fresh lavender, herbal green middle, soft musk base. Lavender Cranberry Coconut is a fruity-floral where lavender sits in the heart, between a tart cranberry-and-orange opening and a coconut-milk-and-vanilla dry-down. Lavender Oud is a concentrated fine perfume oil in the aromatic-woody family, with lavender on top and oud, orris, geranium and cedarwood underneath. A customer asking for "a lavender candle" wants the first one. The other two are their own listings with their own names and their own prices.

Every pack, every price, cost per candle

Every listed size, the per-gram basis at the largest pack, and the fragrance cost inside a 200g candle at 6%, 8% and 10% — because unlike most families in this series, the leading lavender page publishes a band that starts at 6%, and the bottom of that band is a real commercial option.

Two pricing facts are worth acting on. First, the essential oil has no volume ladder at all: ₹6.844 a gram whether you buy 15 gm or 1 kg. Every fragrance oil here rewards the larger bottle — Lavender Fragrance Oil falls from ₹7.00 a gram at 15 gm to ₹5.221 at 1 kg, a 25% drop. Second, on Lavender Cranberry Coconut the 50g pack is fractionally the cheapest per gram (₹7.98) and the ladder is otherwise flat, so there is nothing to gain from the kilo except not reordering.

Fragrance oil versus essential oil, priced

Lavender is the one scent where makers routinely consider the essential oil instead of the fragrance oil, because lavender essential oil is a real, widely sold material and the word "pure" sells. CSI lists 100% Pure Lavender Essential Oil in the Butters & Essential Oils collection at ₹102.66 for 15 gm rising to ₹6,844 for 1 kg — a flat ₹6.844 a gram at every size. So here is the comparison, done only with what is published.

The honest reading is not "essential oil is worse". It is that the essential oil is sold here as a raw material for the butters-and-oils side of the catalogue, with none of the candle-specific information a candle maker needs, while costing ₹25.96 more per 200g candle at 8% — ₹2,596 across a hundred candles. What five reviews actually prove

This is the only oil in the CSI range with five published reviews, so it is the only one where review evidence is worth reading as a set rather than as an anecdote. All five are reproduced below exactly as Judge.me recorded them, with the reviewer's name, month and star rating.

Read them together and they tell you three things. The hot throw is corroborated twice by two different buyers, which is unusual and useful. The character described — calming, versatile, decent — matches the page's own claim of a "Strength Strong" oil rather than contradicting it. And the two four-star reviews are worth more than the three five-star ones, because measured praise from a buyer who is comparing oils is the closest thing to a second opinion you will get without pouring.

What five reviews cannot tell you is the part that decides your candle: nobody states their wax, their load, their wick, their jar diameter or their cure. Two of these reviewers may have poured 6% in coconut-soy and 10% in paraffin. So use reviews to shortlist and to sanity-check a page's claims — never as a substitute for the burn test that settles it in your jar.

Load, cure and the "of total wax weight" trap

The Lavender Fragrance Oil page words its candle figure as "6-10% of total wax weight". This series — like the wax-page arithmetic in the rest of the catalogue — treats load as a share of the finished candle. Both conventions are in common use and neither is wrong, but they are not the same number, and at the top of a band the difference decides whether you are inside or outside the page's own guidance.

Then there are the two ceilings. The oil states 6–10%; your wax states its own figure. The number you pour is the lower of the two. CSI 464 states up to 10% and its page gives melt and pour as 80–90°C. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state 8–13% with 10% recommended, fragrance in at 80–90°C, pour at 70–80°C, and a cure of "minimum 48 hours, ideally 1-2 weeks". CSI 468 states up to 13% with a much lower melt at 50–53°C and pour at 58–60°C. Eco Soy CSI 400 states no ceiling but does state the process: add at 80–90°C (85°C) and stir two minutes. On every one of those waxes, 10% is the most this oil's own page allows.

Costing a 200-candle relaxation line

The Lavender Fragrance Oil page lists its own best uses as "relaxation candles, bedroom diffusers, spa and wellness products, linen sprays, bath and body collections, and calming gift sets". Here is what the candle half of that looks like as a real order: 200 × 150 g candles at 8% in the lidded 150 g jar — 2,400 g of oil and 27,600 g of wax.

Look at the shape of that bill. The jar is 37.8% of it and the oil is 25.2%. In a premium lidded 150 g format, the vessel costs more than the fragrance — which means the first place to look for margin is the format, not the bottle. Dropping to 6% of the same oil takes ₹3,141 off the oil line and puts 600 g back on the wax line; changing the jar changes the bill by far more. That is not an argument for a cheaper jar, it is an argument for knowing which number you are actually negotiating.
