Best Spa Fragrance Oils for Relaxation Candles

Sixteen CSI oils in the spa register, grouped by what they actually smell like and where they belong — plus the part most guides skip: spas, salons and studios buy candles twice, once to burn and once to resell, which makes this the rare category with a repeating commercial customer.
₹3,408
six-oil spa shelf at 100g each · ≈36 candles of 200g · CSI live pricing, August 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which fragrance oils read as spa? Three sub-registers, not one. Green and herbal: Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹354/100g), Cucumber Green Tea (₹353), Verbena (₹590), Lemongrass and Lime (₹590), Blue Ocean (₹495). Soft floral: Lavender (₹540), Neroli (₹666), Ylang Ylang Flower (₹590), Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon (₹799). Woody and resinous: Sage and Cedarwood (₹696), Palo Santo (₹602), Vetiver (₹600), Sandalwood (₹503).

Fragrance oil or essential oil? Fragrance oil, for candles. Essential oils are a different product with a different job — in wax they generally throw weaker and less predictably, which is why almost every commercial spa candle uses a fragrance oil. CSI stocks essential oils separately.

What does a spa candle cost to make? ₹212.40 to ₹291.30 in materials for a 200g soy candle at an 8% load, depending on the oil — Eucalyptus Spearmint at the bottom, Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon at the top.

Why is this category worth more than the scent? Because a spa is a customer that reorders. A six-room spa burning candles six hours a day consumes roughly 1,080 burn-hours a month — about 24 candles of 200g, and about 400g of fragrance oil.
The short answer
Buy: one from each sub-register — Eucalyptus Spearmint or Cucumber Green Tea (green), Lavender or Neroli (soft floral), Sage and Cedarwood or Sandalwood (woody). Six at 100g is ₹3,408.
The why: "spa" is a register, not a note. It is defined by restraint — nothing sweet, nothing loud, nothing that announces itself from the next room.
The next step: pour the light green oils at 9–10% in Luxury Soy Chunks, cure 14–21 days, then take a 500g sample jar to one local spa or studio.
The spa range — from six oils to a repeating monthly account 1 — Six oils, three sub-registers: green · soft floral · woody · ₹3,408 at 100g 2 — Pour light oils at 9–10% load, cure 14–21 days, burn-test 3 — Retail line: 200g jars · ₹212–₹291 materials 4 — B2B: 500g burn stock + flame-free 5 — Monthly reorder at 1kg
Every other fragrance category ends at the retail shelf. This one continues: the spa that buys candles to burn in its rooms is also the shop that sells your candle to its clients, and both lines are supplied from the same kilogram of oil.
Straight answer
Which fragrance oils should a relaxation candle range be built from?
Pick across three sub-registers rather than buying six versions of the same idea. Green and herbal is the register most people picture when they hear the word spa: Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹354/100g), Cucumber Green Tea (₹353), Verbena (₹590), Lemongrass and Lime (₹590) and Blue Ocean (₹495). Soft floral is the one that sells at retail: Lavender (₹540), Neroli (₹666), Ylang Ylang Flower (₹590) and Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon (₹799). Woody and resinous is what treatment rooms and studios actually burn, because it sits under a room rather than on top of it: Sage and Cedarwood (₹696), Palo Santo (₹602), Vetiver (₹600) and Sandalwood (₹503). Six oils, two from each, costs ₹3,408 at 100g and makes roughly 36 candles of 200g at an 8% load. Use fragrance oils, not essential oils, for anything you intend to sell repeatedly.
One line: three sub-registers — green, soft floral, woody — six oils at 100g for ₹3,408, poured at the top of the load range and sold to two customers: the retail buyer and the spa that reorders.
Testing the register before you commit? Most of these ship in 15g from ₹68 — enough for one test pour per scent. Eucalyptus Spearmint, Cucumber Green Tea, Blue Ocean and Sandalwood are the cheapest entry points.

What "spa" actually means as a scent register

Spa is not a note. It is a set of restrictions — and the candles that get it right are defined more by what they leave out than by what they contain.

Ask ten customers what a spa smells like and you will get eucalyptus, lemongrass, sandalwood, wet stone, clean linen and cucumber. Those have almost nothing in common chemically. What they share is a set of negatives: nothing sweet, nothing sugary, nothing that reads as dessert or as perfume, nothing loud enough to be noticed from the corridor. The spa register is a register of restraint. A gourmand candle wants to be identified. A spa candle wants to be present without being the subject.

That restraint is also why so many makers get the category wrong. They buy a beautiful floral, run it at a high load to make sure it "works", and produce a candle that is technically excellent and completely wrong for the brief — it fills a room the way a perfume counter does. The register you are aiming for is closer to the smell of a clean, cool, uncluttered room than to the smell of a fragrance. It reads as calm because it is quiet, not because of anything it does to the person in the room.

Practically, that gives you three sub-registers to buy across. Green and herbal covers eucalyptus, mint, tea, cucumber, lemongrass and the marine-fresh end; it is the most immediately recognisable as spa and the most commercially safe. Soft floral covers lavender, neroli, ylang ylang and white florals handled without sweetness; this is where retail sales concentrate, because it is the register people buy for their own bedside. Woody and resinous covers sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, palo santo and frankincense; this is what professional rooms burn, because it holds a space for hours without becoming tiring. A range that covers all three sells to the retail customer, the treatment room and the yoga studio from one order.

The test
Burn the candle in a closed room and leave for ten minutes. Come back in. If the first thing you notice is the candle, it is too loud for this category. If the first thing you notice is that the room feels different and you have to look for the source, it is right.

Fragrance oils and essential oils are not the same product

This article is about fragrance oils. That distinction matters more in this category than in any other, because "spa" and "essential oil" are joined together in most customers' heads, and a maker who does not understand the difference will either mislead a buyer or waste a kilogram of expensive material.

An essential oil is a plant extract — steam-distilled, expressed or otherwise separated from a botanical raw material. Its composition is whatever the plant produced that season. A fragrance oil is a formulated blend, built by a perfumer to a specification, which may contain natural isolates and essential-oil components alongside synthetic aroma chemicals, and which is formulated for a particular application. The oils in this guide are formulated for candle applications.

In wax, they behave differently, and the differences are practical rather than philosophical. Essential oils are generally weaker and less predictable in throw once bound into wax: many of their most characteristic components are highly volatile and a proportion of them flashes off at the temperature you add fragrance to soy, which is 80–90°C for a wax such as Eco Soy CSI 400. Batch-to-batch variation is real, because crops vary. Cost per gram of perceived strength is usually higher. And because a candle burns the fragrance rather than diffusing it cold, the profile you smell in the bottle is not reliably the profile you get from the melt pool. This is why the overwhelming majority of commercial spa candles are made with fragrance oils. It is a manufacturing decision about consistency and throw, not a statement about which product is better.

Where essential oils do belong. CSI stocks them as a separate category in butters and essential oils — including 100% Pure Lavender Essential Oil at ₹684/100g, ₹3,422/500g and ₹6,844/1kg, 100% Pure Peppermint Essential Oil at ₹590/100g, ₹2,950/500g and ₹5,900/1kg, and 100% Pure Ylang Ylang Essential Oil at ₹732/100g, ₹3,658/500g and ₹7,316/1kg. They suit blending, bath and body formulation, and diffusion formats where nothing is being burned. If you want to use them in a candle, treat it as a separate development project with its own burn testing, and price the product accordingly — do not simply swap one for the other in an existing recipe and expect the same candle.
Do not make claims you cannot stand behind. Describe scent, association and atmosphere — "reads as calm", "the register people associate with a spa", "quiet and green". Do not tell a customer, on a label or in a listing, that a candle treats a condition, aids sleep, reduces stress or has a therapeutic effect. That is a compliance problem regardless of whether you used a fragrance oil or an essential oil, and the category sells perfectly well on atmosphere alone.

Frankincense and Tonka Resin with a soft vanillic base. Evening rooms, closing rituals ₹4,035 ₹227.90

One stocking note. Frankincense and Tonka is listed as a single 1kg pack at ₹4,035 — there is no 100g or 500g option on it, so it is not a scent to try speculatively. At ₹4.04 per gram it is one of the cheapest oils per candle in this whole list, which makes it excellent value once you know you want it, and a ₹4,035 commitment if you do not. Everything else here is available at 100g, 500g and 1kg, and most at 15g and 50g as well.

The six detailed picks below are the ones we would build a first spa range around. They cover all three sub-registers, they span the price band from ₹353 to ₹799 per 100g, and none of them is a near-duplicate of another.

1
Green & herbal · the category default
Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil
If a customer says "spa candle" without elaborating, this is the scent they are describing. Cool, green and camphorous with a mint lift, it is the register of a steam room and a hotel gym, and it is instantly identifiable without a label. It is also the cheapest oil per candle in this entire guide at ₹49.10 of fragrance per 200g, which makes it the natural choice for high-volume commercial burn stock where a spa is getting through twenty-plus candles a month. Being light and volatile, it needs the top of your load range and a full cure — at 8% in soy it can read thin, and at 10% it reads exactly right.

2
Green & herbal · the quiet one
Cucumber Green Tea Fragrance Oil
Watery, leafy and almost cold, this is the least assertive scent in the register and that is precisely its job. It belongs in reception areas, changing rooms and treatment rooms where a client is lying down for an hour — spaces where a strong scent becomes tiring long before the appointment ends. It is also the cheapest 100g on this list at ₹353, which matters when a commercial account wants a scent it can burn continuously without thinking about cost. Handle it like a citrus: high load, long cure, correctly sized wick.

Soft floral · the retail engine
Lavender Fragrance Oil
Lavender is the scent a customer buys without needing to smell it first, which is worth a great deal in online retail where the buyer cannot test anything. It reads as clean, restful and gift-appropriate across every age group, and it is the single most reliable seller in any spa or relaxation set. It is also forgiving in soy: robust enough to survive a moderate cure and it does not discolour white wax. If a spa wants one candle to put on its retail shelf and no more, it will be this one.

4
Soft floral · the premium anchor
Neroli Fragrance Oil
Orange blossom with a bitter-green edge — floral, but nothing like a rose or a jasmine, and read as elegant rather than feminine, which makes it one of the few florals a mixed-gender space can burn without comment. It is the natural premium tier of a spa range, and CSI carries two grades: the standard at ₹666/100g and Neroli Signature Grade at ₹799/100g, which is rounder and more finished. Buy 15g of both and smell them side by side before committing; the difference is real but whether it justifies ₹15 more per candle depends entirely on your price point.

5
Woody · the studio signature
Sage and Cedarwood Fragrance Oil
Dry herb over cedar, with none of the sweetness that would push it toward a home fragrance. This is the scent of the modern wellness studio and the boutique clinic — the one that reads as considered rather than as scented. It performs well as burn stock because the woody base holds a room for hours without the fatigue that a bright green scent can cause over a full working day, and it sits comfortably at an 8% load rather than needing to be pushed. Pair it with Eucalyptus Spearmint and you have covered most of the commercial brief in two scents.
Size Price Per gram 200g candles @ 8%
50g ₹354 ₹7.08 ≈3
100g ₹696 ₹6.96 ≈6
500g ₹2,584 ₹5.17 ≈31

6
Woody · the Indian spa scent
Sandalwood Fragrance Oil
Warm, creamy and ceremonial, sandalwood does something in India that no imported spa scent can: it carries cultural weight, which makes it the obvious choice for Ayurvedic-styled rooms, wellness retreats and any spa positioning itself as Indian rather than international. It is also the best-behaved oil in this guide technically — heavy molecules mean strong hot throw from a low-temperature soy melt pool, with no need to push the load. At ₹503/100g it is the cheapest of the woods here and it doubles as a festival and gifting scent, so the stock never sits idle.
Size Price Per gram 200g candles @ 8%

The other ten, briefly. Blue Ocean (₹495/100g) is the marine-ozonic option and the closest thing here to clean linen — a hotel-lobby scent that works in bathrooms and small spaces; see also the fresh and aquatic guide. Verbena (₹590) is lemony but drier and more herbal than a citrus, which suits salons and morning-facing rooms. Lemongrass and Lime (₹590) is the Southeast-Asian massage-room register and performs particularly well in humid coastal climates where heavier scents feel oppressive. Ylang Ylang Flower (₹590) is a creamy tropical white floral and the warmest of the florals here. Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon (₹799) is explicitly a resort-spa scent — jasmine over soft coconut, and the one to reach for if a client's positioning is destination rather than clinical. Lavender Cranberry Coconut (₹799) softens lavender into something more obviously retail, which makes it a hamper and gift-set scent rather than a treatment-room one. Palo Santo (₹602) is sweet-smoky resinous wood and the signature of yoga and meditation spaces. Vetiver (₹600) is earthy and rooty, the most grown-up scent in the register and the one least likely to be mistaken for a mass-market candle. Neroli Signature Grade (₹799) is the finished version of the standard neroli. And Frankincense and Tonka (₹4,035/1kg only) is resin with a soft vanillic base — a closing-ritual scent for evening rooms, and remarkably cheap per candle once you commit to the kilogram.

The CSI principle
In every other fragrance category you sell a candle. In this one you sell a supply relationship.
A retail customer buys a spa candle once and maybe again in six months. A six-room spa gets through roughly 24 candles of 200g a month and pays every month. Build the range for the retail shelf, but price and package it so it can also serve the account — because the account is what turns a spa range into a business.

Selling to spas, salons and wellness studios

This is the part of the category that most candle makers never work out. Spas, salons, yoga and pilates studios, boutique clinics, ayurvedic centres and hotel wellness floors all consume candles as a running cost, and most of them also have a small retail shelf near the reception desk. That means one account can buy from you twice over: burn stock for the rooms, and retail stock to sell on. Approach it as two separate lines with separate specifications, because they genuinely are.

The two lines · what each needs
Burn stock and retail stock are different products
  Burn stock Retail stock
Who it is for The spa's own rooms, corridors and reception The spa's clients, sold at its front desk
Branding Unbranded or plain — nobody reads a label in a treatment room Co-branded with the spa's name, or the spa's brand only
Format 500g and 700g vessels, multi-wick, long service interval 200g jars, boxed, giftable, consistent with the spa's interiors
Scent One or two only, held constant. Usually woody or green Three to five, including the soft florals that sell
What they judge you on Consistency of supply and burn-time reliability How it looks on the shelf and the margin they make
Order rhythm Monthly, standing, predictable Quarterly, or when the shelf empties

The sizing conversation is where you win credibility. Work in burn-hours, not units. A correctly wicked 200g soy candle gives roughly 40 to 45 burn-hours; a 500g vessel roughly 100 to 110. A six-room spa that lights a candle in every room for a six-hour working day is consuming 6 × 6 × 30 = 1,080 burn-hours a month, which is about 24 candles of 200g or about 10 of 500g. In fragrance terms that is roughly 400g of oil a month at an 8% load, which is why a single spa account moves your buying from 100g to 500g and 1kg immediately. Walk into the meeting with that arithmetic already done for their room count and you will be the only supplier who has.

1
Go in with samples, not a catalogueTwo 500g jars, unbranded, in one green and one woody scent — Eucalyptus Spearmint and Sage and Cedarwood is the standard pair. Leave them. A spa manager will not evaluate a candle from a price list; they will evaluate it after it has been burning in a room for a week.
2
Lead with supply, not scentThe objection is never "we do not like candles". It is "the last person could not deliver the same thing twice". Commit to a scent, a vessel and a monthly date, and say clearly which of your scents you hold in 1kg so they know you can repeat it.
3
Price per unit, with a volume ladderGive three tiers — say 10, 25 and 50 units a month — with a per-unit price at each. A spa needs a number it can put in a monthly budget line, not a quote per order.
4
Offer the flame-free line in the same conversationAsk which rooms cannot have an open flame. There are almost always some — clinics, rooms with oxygen equipment, rooms left unattended, insurance conditions. Reed diffusers, sprays and wax melts fill those rooms and often close the whole deal.
5
Then propose the retail partnershipOnce the burn stock is running, offer the same scent in a 200g co-branded jar for their front desk, on a wholesale price that lets them roughly double their money. The client has already been smelling it for a month in the treatment room, which is the best possible product demonstration.

Per-unit pricing that works for both sides

Materials are only the floor. The numbers below use Eucalyptus Spearmint at 1kg pricing as the reference oil, with real CSI vessel costs, and show where a workable wholesale and retail price sits. Treat materials as roughly 30–35% of a sensible retail price and wholesale as roughly half of retail — that is the structure a spa expects and will not negotiate away from.

Illustrative unit economics · Eucalyptus Spearmint at 1kg pricing
What each format costs you, what the spa pays, what the client pays
Format Build Your materials Spa pays Spa retails at
Treatment-room burn stock 500g in an Apothecary Jar (500g, ₹212), 2 wicks, 40g oil ₹622.50 ₹950–₹1,100 Not resold
Retail shelf candle 200g in an Amber Shiny Jar (₹47.20), 1 wick, 16g oil ₹212.40 ₹425–₹450 ₹849–₹899
Retail add-on votive 70g in a Clear Glass Votive (₹31.80), 1 wick, 5.6g oil ₹93.50 ₹190–₹200 ₹379–₹399
Flame-free wax melts 70g in a Wax Melts Container (₹29.50), no wick, 5.6g oil ₹85.30 ₹150–₹170 ₹299–₹349

The 500g burn-stock line looks like the least profitable per unit and it is the most valuable line you have, because it is the one that repeats without a sales conversation every month. The retail line carries the margin. Quote them together, never separately — the burn stock is what earns you the shelf. If you also supply hotels, the same logic and much of the same scent shortlist applies to guest welcome hampers, and hotel wellness floors are often the easiest first commercial account to win because the buying is already centralised.

The one thing to get in writing
Agree the scent and the vessel in writing before the first delivery, and hold 1kg of that oil in stock. The single fastest way to lose a spa account is to change a scent slightly between deliveries because you ran out and substituted. They will notice, because their clients notice.

Formats: treatment-room vessels and flame-free alternatives

A 200g candle in a 90ml jar is a retail product. A treatment room is a different problem: more air to fill, longer continuous burn, and a member of staff who does not want to be relighting and replacing candles between clients. Go larger and go multi-wick. A wider vessel with a single wick tunnels, and a tunnelling candle in a large jar is the most common cause of a spa complaining that your candle "stopped smelling of anything".

Vessels for commercial rooms
Larger formats and what they cost
Vessel Best for Price
Apothecary Glass Jar with Dome Lid The standard treatment-room jar; dome lid keeps dust out between clients ₹212 (500g) · ₹250 (700g)
Borosilicate Jar, 600g fill, golden lid Reception desks and lobbies where the vessel is on display ₹200
White Iridescent Jar with Bamboo Lid, 300g Mid-size rooms; bamboo lid suits natural-material interiors ₹150
Amber Shiny Glass Jar with Black Lid The 200g co-branded retail unit ₹236 / pack of 5
Clear Glass Votive Jar, 70g Add-on retail, gift sets, and table candles for group classes ₹159 / pack of 5

Now the part that wins accounts. A meaningful share of commercial wellness rooms cannot run an open flame at all — clinical treatment rooms, rooms with equipment, rooms that are left unattended between clients, or simply a landlord or insurer who has ruled it out. If your answer to that is only a candle, you lose the room. If your answer is a format, you keep the account and often expand it.

Flame-free formats · same oils, no flame
What to offer when a room cannot have a candle
Format What it does Build it from
Reed diffuser Continuous, unsupervised scent. The default answer for a clinical room Reed diffuser bases · Fibre reeds from ₹236/25 · Gold reed bottles from ₹826/10
Room & linen spray Used between clients, on linen and in changing rooms. Instant, controllable Room and spray bases · 50ml spray bottles at ₹42
Wax melts Warmed, not burned. Cheap per unit, and a strong retail add-on Wax Melts Containers Empty from ₹148/5 · same soy wax and oils
Warmers & burners The hardware that holds the melts, and a one-off sale alongside a repeating one Elegant Ceramic Wax Warmer ₹519 · Arch Ceramic Burner ₹224

A worked example for the diffuser line, so you can quote it: a 100ml reed diffuser built from a 120ml gold bottle at ₹106.20 each, 80ml of a professional base such as Pure Performance Reed Base at ₹1,099 per 500ml, 20g of Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹3.07/g and eight fibre reeds at ₹8 each comes to roughly ₹407 in materials at a 20% fragrance ratio. Work to the ratio stated on the base you buy rather than assuming — the bases collection includes several with different characters and different recommended loadings.

Load, cure and wax compatibility

The spa register contains a higher proportion of light, volatile oils than any other family, and that single fact explains most of the disappointment makers report with it. Eucalyptus, mint, cucumber, tea, verbena, lemongrass, marine notes and neroli are built from small, fast-evaporating molecules. They read beautifully from the bottle and then vanish in a badly built candle — not because the oil is weak, but because a light oil needs everything else to be right in a way a vanilla does not.

Run the light oils at the top of the load range. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated to a 13% fragrance load and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 to 10%. For Eucalyptus Spearmint, Cucumber Green Tea, Verbena, Lemongrass and Lime, Blue Ocean and both Neroli grades, pour at 9–10% in the Chunks rather than 8% — the difference between those two numbers is the difference between a candle a spa reorders and one it does not. The heavier end of the register, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Palo Santo, Sage and Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang and Frankincense and Tonka, is comfortable at 8% and can smell heavy and airless above 10%. There is no single universal ceiling; work to the number on the wax you actually bought. More detail in the fragrance load guide by family.
Cure longer than you think, and never judge at 48 hours. Fourteen days is the minimum for soy; the resinous and woody oils here often improve up to 21. Cure lids on, in a closed box, at room temperature, away from sunlight. Judging a eucalyptus or cucumber candle two days after pouring is the single most common reason a maker rejects an oil that would have performed. The same volatility problem, and its fixes, is covered in depth in why citrus fragrances fade in candles — the mechanism is identical for the green and herbal end of the spa register.
Add fragrance at the right temperature, and stir for a full two minutes. Eco Soy CSI 400 specifies adding fragrance at 80–90°C with two minutes of stirring; CSI 464 melts and pours at 80–90°C. Too cool and the oil is poorly bound and will separate or sweat out. Too hot and you flash off exactly the light top notes this category is built from. Two minutes of stirring is not a suggestion — it is the difference between fragrance dissolved in wax and fragrance sitting in it.
Wax selection
Which wax for a spa candle
Wax Best for Load From
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks The default here — the 13% ceiling is what gives the light green oils room to work Up to 13% ₹299 / 500g
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes) Single-pour retail jars, low frosting, strong glass adhesion, 60-month shelf life Up to 10% ₹260 / 500g
Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 Premium retail tier; smoother finish and a softer, fuller throw for the florals Standard ₹325 / 500g
Eco Soy CSI 400 Beginners and small commercial batches; creamy one-pour finish, no additives Standard ₹399 / 1kg
Coconut Wax Luxury spa positioning where the wax itself is part of the story Standard ₹513 / 500g

Wick to the jar diameter, not to the scent, and use Eco Candle Wicks — Thin (C1) at ₹590 per 100 for standard 200g jars, Thick (C2) at ₹944 per 100 for wider vessels. Anything above about 8cm across should be double-wicked. For the large treatment-room jars, run two Thin C1 wicks rather than one Thick C2 if you want a faster, more even melt pool across a wide surface. An undersized wick makes every oil in this guide read as weak, and it is the most frequently misdiagnosed fault in candle making — before you change fragrance supplier, read the weak throw diagnosis guide.

A spa does not buy a candle. It buys the certainty that next month's candle will smell exactly like this one.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We are not competing with you for the spa account, and we have no reason to steer you toward an expensive oil — the cheapest option in this guide, Eucalyptus Spearmint, is also the one we would recommend most often for commercial burn stock. What we do have is the order data: which sizes get reordered, which scents move from 100g to 1kg, and which ones sit.

Every price, size and product link here is taken from live CSI stock in August 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Cost-per-candle and unit-economics figures are calculated from named inputs so you can check the arithmetic against your own vessels and wicks. Wholesale and retail prices are illustrative structures based on a materials-at-30–35%-of-retail rule, not quotes.

On claims: everything in this guide describes scent character, association and atmosphere. Nothing here is a statement about health, therapy or physiological effect, and we would advise you not to make such statements on your own labels or listings either. Frequently asked questions

Which fragrance oils are best for spa and relaxation candles?
Work in three sub-registers rather than one. Green and herbal: Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹354 per 100g), Cucumber Green Tea (₹353), Verbena (₹590), Lemongrass and Lime (₹590) and Blue Ocean (₹495). Soft floral: Lavender (₹540), Neroli (₹666), Neroli Signature Grade (₹799), Ylang Ylang Flower (₹590), Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon (₹799) and Lavender Cranberry Coconut (₹799). Woody and resinous: Sage and Cedarwood (₹696), Palo Santo (₹602), Vetiver (₹600), Sandalwood (₹503) and Frankincense and Tonka (₹4,035 for 1kg). A six-oil spa shelf at 100g each costs ₹3,408 and makes roughly 36 candles of 200g at an 8% load. These are descriptions of scent character and association, not claims about any effect on health.
Should spa candles use essential oils or fragrance oils?
Most commercial spa candles use fragrance oils, and the reason is behaviour in wax rather than preference. Fragrance oils are formulated blends built for candle applications, so they are designed to bind into wax at pouring temperature and release predictably from a melt pool. Essential oils are distilled or expressed plant extracts made for a different purpose: in wax they generally give weaker and less predictable throw, many of them flash off at the temperature you add fragrance, and their character shifts between crops and batches. CSI stocks essential oils separately at the butters and essential oils collection, including 100% pure lavender, peppermint and ylang ylang, and they are better suited to blending, diffusion and non-candle formats. If you want a spa candle that smells the same in every unit you ship, use a fragrance oil.
What fragrance load should a spa candle use?
Work to the ceiling of the wax, and put the light oils near the top of it. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated to a 13% fragrance load and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 to 10%. Eucalyptus Spearmint, Cucumber Green Tea, Verbena, Lemongrass and Lime, Blue Ocean and both Neroli grades are light and volatile, so 9–10% in the Chunks reads far better than 8%. The heavier woods and resins — Sandalwood, Vetiver, Palo Santo, Sage and Cedarwood and Frankincense and Tonka — are comfortable at 8% and can smell heavy above 10%. Adding more oil than the wax can hold does not make a stronger candle, it makes one that sweats and burns unpredictably.
How do you sell candles to a spa or wellness studio?
Approach with two lines, not one. Burn stock is what the spa uses in its own rooms: unbranded, large format, one or two scents, repeat monthly. Retail stock is what the spa sells to its clients: co-branded with the spa's name, 200g, priced so the spa doubles its money. A six-room spa burning candles six hours a day gets through roughly 1,080 burn-hours a month, which is about 24 candles of 200g or 10 of 500g, and about 400g of fragrance oil. Lead with consistency of supply and burn-time reliability rather than with scent, because a spa that cannot reorder the same candle next month will not start. Offer a flame-free alternative for treatment rooms where an open flame is not allowed.
What size candle does a spa treatment room need?
Larger than a retail candle. A correctly wicked 200g soy candle gives roughly 40 to 45 burn-hours, which is about seven working days in a room used six hours a day, and a room that size is also a bigger volume of air than a bedside table. A 500g or 700g vessel such as the Apothecary Glass Candle Jar, at ₹212 and ₹250, or a 600g Borosilicate Glass Jar at ₹200, roughly doubles the service interval and reduces the number of relights. Multi-wick the wider vessels so the melt pool reaches the glass wall, because a small melt pool in a large jar is the most common cause of a spa candle that reads as weak.
What can a spa use instead of a lit candle in a treatment room?
Four flame-free formats built from the same fragrance oils. Reed diffusers using a professional base from the reed diffuser base collection give continuous scent with no supervision. Room and linen sprays built on a fast-dry base from the room and spray base accessories collection are used between clients. Wax melts poured into Wax Melts Containers Empty, from ₹148 for a pack of 5, are warmed rather than burned. Electric and tealight warmers such as the Elegant Ceramic Wax Warmer at ₹519 and the Arch Ceramic Burner at ₹224 hold those melts. Offering the flame-free line is often what wins the account, because many treatment rooms and clinics cannot run an open flame at all.
