500–1,000 Candle Orders · 20-Day Deadline
A reject allowance covers the trickle; a remake reserve covers one bad event. On a 20-day order it only works if the remake can still cure — so size it to your biggest single loss, pour part of it early, and close it on day 13.
+67 sets
one lost 5 kg batch as a remake reserve · ₹6,617.95 on 1,000 × 80 g · CSI pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Do I need extra stock for remakes? On a 20-day order, yes — on top of the reject allowance. Size it to your largest single loss: here one 5 kg batch, 67 candle-sets, ₹6,617.95.

When is it too late to remake? After the last pour that can cure before dispatch. With a 7-day cure checkpoint that is day 13.

Materials or finished spares? Both: pour about half the reserve as finished spares in the first days, hold half as materials until day 13.

What does the whole order cost? ₹1,13,014.80 in CSI materials including the reserve. See the list.
The short answer
Answer: Yes. Carry a reserve sized to one bad event (one lost batch = 67 candles here) as whole candle-sets, separate from the 3% reject allowance.
Why: Cure time. Chunks' page states at least 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; on a 7-day checkpoint, a remake after day 13 cannot be dispatched on day 20.
How: Inspect each batch at 48 hours, pour half the reserve early as finished spares, hold half as materials, and record what you used. Put it on its own line of the sheet.
1,000 candles in 20 days: the remake reserve only works before day 13 Example: 80 g Mini Glass Jars (illustrative fill) · Chunks · Mango Coconut 8% · 7-day cure checkpoint (labelled) 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 13 14 16 18 20 day materials in pour window · ~95 candles a day cure → dispatch 48 h QC finds rejects → remakes poured from the reserve last pour that can cure 7 days Reserve held as MATERIALS 67 candle-sets · ₹6,639.43 of CSI material usable only until day 13; unused stock carries forward Reserve poured as FINISHED SPARES poured in the first days, cured by dispatch covers late finds; unused spares are finished stock
Working backwards from a day-20 dispatch with a 7-day cure checkpoint (a labelled working practice), the last pour that can still cure is day 13. Rejects found at 48-hour inspection inside the pour window can be remade from reserve materials; failures found later are covered only by finished spare candles poured early. Days and the 80 g fill are illustrative.
Straight answer
I need 1,000 candles in 20 days — should my raw-material purchase include extra inventory specifically for emergency remakes?
Yes — but on a 20-day order the reserve is limited by cure time, not just quantity. Your reject allowance (3% here) covers the steady trickle of faulty candles; an emergency reserve covers one bad event, such as a whole melt lost to a temperature or wick-setting mistake. Size it to that event: at an illustrative 5 kg batch and 73.6 g of wax per 80 g candle, one batch is 67 candle-sets (wax, oil, wick, sticker, jar), adding ₹6,617.95 to a ₹1,06,396.85 CSI order. Then fit it to the calendar: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks's page states a cure of at least 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks, so on a 7-day checkpoint the last remake that can be dispatched on day 20 is poured on day 13. Inspect every batch at 48 hours, pour about half the reserve as finished spares in the first days, and hold the rest as materials until day 13. Unused materials carry into your next order.
One line: size the reserve to one bad event; pour some early; never plan a remake after the last day that can cure.
Yes — for 1,000 candles in 20 days, carry a remake reserve on top of the normal reject allowance, because a remake found late cannot cure in time. Sizing it to one lost 5 kg batch adds 67 candle-sets — ₹6,617.95 to a ₹1,06,396.85 CSI order. Pour part of it as finished spares in the first days; hold the rest as materials until day 13.
Shop candle wax

The short answer: yes, but the reserve is a time problem before it is a quantity problem

In a 20-day order, a candle you remake on day 17 is a candle you cannot sell on day 20.

Every order in this series carries a reject allowance — a percentage of extra candles for the ones that come out with a sunken top, a crooked wick or a cracked jar. On a relaxed timetable that allowance is enough, because anything that fails inspection can simply be remade and cured. On a 20-day timetable it is not, for one reason: cure time. CSI's product page for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks states a cure of at least 48 hours and ideally one to two weeks. If you work to a 7-day cure checkpoint (a labelled working practice), the last candle that can be poured and still be cured by day 20 is poured on day 13. A remake that becomes necessary after that day does not help you.

So an emergency remake reserve for a short deadline is two decisions, not one. How much: enough to replace the largest single loss you could plausibly suffer — here, one whole 5 kg melt of 67 candles, lost to a temperature mistake, a contaminated jug or a bad wick setting. And in what form: materials you can pour if needed before day 13, or spare finished candles poured in the first days so they are cured when you need them. On this example the reserve adds ₹6,617.95 to the CSI order; how you hold it decides whether it can actually save the delivery.

The CSI principle
On a short deadline, a remake reserve is only real if it can still cure before dispatch.
Size it to your biggest plausible single loss. Pour some of it early. Never plan a remake after the last day that can cure.

The order without a reserve, and with one

The example is 1,000 candles of 80 g in Mini Glass Jars, Black — CSI does not publish their fill, so 80 g is illustrative and you should weigh a test pour — in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks with Mango Coconut at 8%: 6.4 g of oil and 73.6 g of wax per candle. Chunks' product page states a maximum load of 13%. The normal stack is a 3% reject allowance (1,031 production candles) plus 4 check candles poured from the first batch. The reserve is added as whole candle-sets — wax, oil, wick, sticker and jar — because a remake needs all of them.

1,000 × 80 g · 8% · 3% rejects, 4% pour loss, 4 check candles and a one-batch reserve are labelled assumptions
Quantities with and without the remake reserve
Line Without reserve Reserve With reserve
Candles poured 1,035 +67 1,102
Wax (× 1.04 pour loss) 79.22 kg 5.13 kg 84.35 kg
Oil (× 1.04) 6.89 kg 0.45 kg 7.33 kg
Jars 1,035 +67 1,102
Wicks (+1% damaged) 1,046 +68 1,114
CSI cost after pack rounding ₹1,06,396.85 +₹6,617.95 ₹1,13,014.80

Note the order of operations. The reserve is not a bigger reject percentage. Rejects are spread across the run and found at inspection; the reserve is a lump for a single bad event. Folding it into the reject rate — "let's use 10% instead of 3%" — hides the fact that the reserve has a deadline and the reject allowance does not. Keep them as separate lines on the sheet, so you can see on day 13 whether the reserve was used.

Treating the reserve as "extra materials somewhere". A bag of wax and a box of jars on the shelf feel like insurance. On day 16, with a batch of 67 failures found at final inspection, they are not — those candles cannot cure by day 20. Fix: write the last remake day on the order sheet (day 13 here), inspect each batch 48 hours after pouring rather than at the end, and pour part of the reserve as finished spares in the first days of the run.

The 20-day timetable the reserve has to fit

Count backwards from dispatch. The calendar, not the calculator, sets the reserve.
Labelled example timetable · replace every day with your own — CSI publishes no delivery times
Working backwards from day 20
Days What happens Why it matters to the reserve
0 Order confirmed; CSI order placed the same day Everything after depends on materials arriving
1–2 Materials arrive (your delivery time — ask on WhatsApp) A late delivery eats the pour window, not the cure
3 First batch + 4 check candles Proves wick, load and pour on the day's set-up
3–13 About 95 candles a day over 11 days Pour finished spares from the reserve early in this window
5–13 Each batch inspected 48 hours after pouring Rejects found here can still be remade and cured
13 Last pour that can cure 7 days Last day a remake helps
14–20 Cure, final inspection, pack, dispatch Late finds are covered only by finished spares

Two things in that timetable are yours alone: how quickly materials reach you, and how many candles you can pour in a day. CSI publishes no delivery times, so ask on WhatsApp before you accept a 20-day order. And 95 candles a day is simply 1,035 candles over 11 pour days; if your workshop pours fewer, the window is too short and the reserve will not save it — the 30-day, 500-candle post shows the same planning with more slack.

1
Day 0: order everything at onceOn a 20-day deadline there is no time to stage purchases. Wick, oil, wax and jars must already be validated — if they are not, the order is not a 20-day order. See the unvalidated-wick post if that is your situation.
2
Day 3: pour the first batch and check candlesPour 4 check candles from the first batch and inspect them at 48 hours alongside the batch. If the set-up is wrong, you lose one batch, not the order.
3
Days 3–6: pour finished spares from the reservePour about half the reserve (34 candles) as finished spares early, so they cure with the earliest batches. These cover failures found at final inspection.
4
Every day: inspect batches at 48 hoursDo not wait for the end of the run. A batch with a fault found on day 6 can be remade by day 7; the same fault found on day 17 cannot.
5
Up to day 13: pour remakes from the held reserveThe remaining reserve stays as materials until day 13. Use it for any batch that fails 48-hour inspection.
6
Day 14: close the reserveWhatever reserve material is left becomes ordinary stock for your next order. Record how much was used — that is your reserve size next time.

How big should the reserve be?

There is no published figure for this; it depends on how your workshop fails. The cleanest rule is to size the reserve to the largest single loss you can plausibly suffer, because a deadline order is usually lost to one bad event, not to a steady trickle (the reject allowance already covers the trickle). In most small workshops that is one melt. At a labelled 5 kg melt and 73.6 g of wax per candle, one batch is 67 candles. Other rules of thumb give different numbers; the table prices each in CSI material at about ₹99.10 a candle.

Material per candle ₹99.10 = wax at the 5 kg rate + oil at the 1 kg rate + Thin C1 wick + Mini Black jar at the 100-pack rate + sticker · excludes labour
Four ways to size an emergency reserve
Rule Candle-sets CSI material Share of the order
One lost batch (this page) 67 ₹6,639.43 6.7%
Half a batch 34 ₹3,369.26 3.4%
2% of the order 20 ₹1,981.92 2.0%
One day's pour 95 ₹9,414.12 9.5%

Whichever rule you choose, the reserve is not money lost if it goes unused. Wax, oil, wicks, stickers and jars bought for it carry into your next order; the CSI 464 page, for example, states a 60-month shelf life cool and dry, and Chunks publishes a cure, not a shelf life. Finished spare candles are different: if your order carries a client's label, unused spares may be unsaleable elsewhere. That is the argument for splitting the reserve — half poured early as finished spares, half held as materials.

Record what the reserve actually covered
After dispatch, note how many reserve candles you poured and why. One order's record turns this page's "one batch" assumption into your workshop's real figure. If you never touch the reserve across three orders, halve it; if you use all of it once, keep it.

Mango Coconut is one of the oils with a real price step at volume: ₹3.96 a gram at 500 g and 1 kg against ₹5.00 at 100 g — a 20.7% saving from 100 g to 1 kg on the 24 September pull — so the kilos carry this order. Chunks are ₹599.00 a kilo at 1 and 5 kg and ₹599.90 at 10 kg, so the wax is in 5 kg bags. Mini Glass Jars Black are ₹21.24 each in the 100-pack against ₹25.96 in 5s, so the 100-packs carry the jar line. The jars are glass; add breakage with the breakage method if your run has a history of it.

When not to carry a reserve

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We would sell you the reserve either way, but there are cases where it is the wrong spend. If your timetable has a week of slack after the last planned pour, ordinary remakes can cure in time and the 3% reject allowance is enough. If your run is small enough to pour in two or three days, one lost batch is a larger share of the order and the better protection is a second pair of hands, not more wax. And if the materials are not yet validated, no reserve will save a 20-day order — the honest answer to the client is a longer date.

The reserve also cannot fix a supply problem. If a material is short on day 0, more of the other materials does not help. Ask us on WhatsApp to confirm stock of every line before you accept a short-deadline order — the 100-packs of jars, the 5 kg wax bags, the 1 kg oil bottles and the 1,000-pack of wicks — and order all of it at once.

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026 — 35 days from today. A 20-day festive order accepted in mid-October leaves no margin for a second delivery. Send us your candle, count and dispatch date on WhatsApp and we will confirm stock for every line, including the reserve, before you commit to the client. Larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp; no discount figure is published.

The rest of the 500–1,000 candle cluster

This page owns the deadline reserve. Jar breakage, wick allowances and colour trials size the other extra lines; the new-fragrance post and the unvalidated-wick post explain why a short deadline needs every material validated first; the buffer-logic post covers how much spare each material should carry in general; and the procurement sheet puts the reserve on its own line. Pilot, test, reject and replacement allowances covers the ordinary allowance stack this reserve sits on.

A remake reserve is a calendar decision. If it cannot cure before dispatch, it is just stock.
— CandleMakingSuppliesIndia
Using tins instead of glass? The Golden Aluminium Tin has a published 85 g fill and does not shatter, which removes glass breakage from the reserve. The cure deadline still applies: the last useful remake day is still day 13 on a 7-day cure checkpoint.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A reserve is extra stock we sell. This page sizes it to one plausible bad event, shows when it stops being useful, and says when you should not carry one at all.

Wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Jar, wick and sticker prices were re-checked 4 October 2026. Every quantity, pack combination and rupee figure is arithmetic; the cure statement is quoted from CSI's Chunks product page.

The 80 g fill, 8% load, 3% rejects, 4% pour loss, 4 check candles, the 5 kg batch, the 7-day cure checkpoint and the timetable are labelled working assumptions. CSI publishes no delivery times, no Mini Glass Jar fill and no burn data — ask on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 for stock, bulk quotes, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation.

Frequently asked questions

How much extra material should I buy for candle remakes?
Enough for your largest plausible single loss — commonly one melt. At a 5 kg melt of 80 g candles that is 67 candle-sets, on top of a normal reject allowance.
How long should soy candles cure before shipping?
Follow your wax's page: CSI's Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page states at least 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks. This page uses a 7-day checkpoint as a labelled working practice.
Can I make 1000 candles in 20 days?
Only if materials arrive quickly and your workshop can pour about 95 a day over 11 days, with every material already validated. Check stock and delivery before accepting.
Is a remake reserve the same as a reject allowance?
No. Rejects are a steady percentage found at inspection; a reserve covers one bad event and has a deadline. Keep them as separate lines.
What happens to unused reserve materials?
Wax, oil, wicks, stickers and jars carry into your next order. Finished spare candles with a client's label may not, which is why the reserve is split.
Does CSI guarantee delivery for urgent orders?
CSI publishes no delivery times. Confirm stock and dispatch on WhatsApp before you accept a short-deadline order, and order every line at once.
