What is inside one 100 g favour

"Each finished candle includes 8% fragrance oil" is exactly CSI's convention: the load is a share of the finished weight. A 100 g favour holds 8 g of oil and 92 g of wax. Three hundred favours are 30,000 g of finished candle, so the net need is 27,600 g of wax and 2,400 g of oil. The title's question is how much wax to buy, and the short answer is 27.6 kg for the favours themselves — not 30 kg. Buying 30 kg of wax and 2.4 kg of oil on top would put 2,400 g of wax into your store room, about 26 favours' worth.

Backups, tests and loss for a wedding order

Wedding orders carry a risk ordinary stock does not: the date cannot move. A cracked jar, a sunken top or a candle that fails a visual check on the morning of delivery has to be replaced from something already made. So this page adds three separate allowances, each a labelled working assumption you should replace with your own:

Backups and tests are candles, so they join the count first: 300 + 10 + 4 = 314 candles, or 31,400 g of finished candle. Then the 3% loss multiplies the melt once: 31,400 g × 1.03 = 32,342 g. Split that at 8% and the order is 29,754.6 g of wax and 2,587.4 g of oil.

Rounding to Soy Pearl bags and Raat Ki Rani bottles

Natural Soy Pearl Wax is ₹450.00 for 1 kg and ₹424.80 a kilo in the 5 kg (₹2,124.00), 10 kg (₹4,248.00) and 50 kg (₹21,240.00) bags — a 5.6% step (CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026). For 29,754.6 g the answer is three 10 kg bags for ₹12,744.00, with 245.4 g spare. The same 30 kg as 1 kg bags would cost ₹13,500.00 — ₹756.00 more for nothing. No fragrance ceiling for Soy Pearl is quoted in this series: 8% is your figure, inside the 6–10% range makers commonly test; ask CSI on WhatsApp or check the product page for the wax maker's stated maximum.

Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) Fragrance Oil is an Indian night-blooming floral that suits a wedding table, priced at ₹7.00 a gram in 100 g and ₹6.77 in 500 g and 1 kg. You need 2,587.4 g.

The priced favour order

For a 100 g favour, CSI's Yankee Glass Jar 130 ml with clear cap (₹47.20 each) is a sensible fit — and the cap matters on a guest table. Read the size carefully: 130 ml is the brim volume, not a fill weight. As a labelled approximation, solid soy wax is about 0.86–0.90 g per ml, so the brim would hold roughly 112–117 g, and 100 g leaves a working headspace. The fill weight is not published; weigh one test pour to the line you want before you order 320 jars. Jars get their own count allowance — six spare on top of the 314 poured, for chips found on unpacking.

One favour costs ₹146.37 in materials at list rates (₹39.08 of Soy Pearl, ₹54.19 of Raat Ki Rani, ₹5.90 wick, ₹47.20 jar). Per guest the order works out at ₹158.10, because it also carries ten backups, four tests, 3% loss, spare jars and wicks. That is the figure to quote the couple against — plus labour, packaging, labels, freight and GST, none of which are included. Notice that the jar is the largest line: on a small favour, the container often costs more than the wax and oil together. Wick size per jar diameter is not published, so the four test candles are where you confirm the Thin C1 in the Yankee jar.

If the couple wants it stronger or softer

At 6% the wax crosses 30 kg and needs a top-up bag; at 10% the oil order rises by about half a kilo. For Soy Pearl the 6–10% range is a labelled test range, not a spec. A favour sits on a table in a hall, not in a closed room, and whether the couple can smell it at 6% or 10% is a burn-test decision in a space like the venue — CSI publishes no throw data for any oil.

When to buy for a wedding date

Work backwards from the event. The favours need to be poured, cured and packed before delivery; cure times are not published here, so treat any figure you use — a week, two weeks — as your own working checkpoint. The tests need to be poured and burnt before the main order, and the couple may want to approve a sample. That usually means the materials for the four tests should be in hand several weeks before the date, and the production wax and oil soon after.

That keeps you from buying 2.6 kg of a scent the couple may change.
