100 kg of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks as 20 × 5 kg — the monthly order · CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Monthly, fortnightly or bulk at 100 kg? Monthly by default. Fortnightly if space or cash is tight. Larger bulk only with a written per-kg saving that beats holding cost.

What is the economic order quantity? About 152 kg with example inputs (₹500 per order + 1 + 1 check, 1.5%/month holding). Replace the inputs with yours.

Is 10 kg Chunks cheaper for 100 kg? No — 10 × 10 kg is ₹59,990.00, 20 × 5 kg is ₹59,900.00.

How many candles ride on a monthly delivery? About 543 at 200 g and 8%. That is why each delivery gets a check before it reaches jars.
The short answer
Answer: Order monthly; fortnightly when storage or cash is tight; larger lots only against a quoted per-kg saving.
Why: Total monthly cost is nearly flat from 100 kg to 300 kg per order: fortnightly costs ₹810.06 more and two-monthly ₹68.09 less a month than monthly, with example inputs — but storage, cash and lot exposure grow with every extra kilo.
Check: 1 + 1 production pull for routine deliveries; 3 + 3 before production for a new cadence or any larger lot.
Order cost falls, holding cost rises — and the bottom of the curve is flat 100 kg a month of Chunks at ₹599.00/kg · example ₹500 freight/admin + 1 + 1 check per order · example 1.5%/month holding ₹0 ₹1,000 ₹2,000 ₹3,000 ₹4,000 ₹5,000 25 kg 50 kg 100 kg 200 kg 300 kg order size (kg per delivery) ordering + checks holding total ₹2,294.00 ₹1,483.94 ₹1,415.84 Lowest point ≈ 152 kg with these example costs; monthly 100 kg costs only ₹120.36 a month more. Storage and lot risk decide.
Monthly cost of ordering and holding 100 kg a month of Chunks, by order size. Ordering + checks falls as orders get bigger; holding rises; the total bottoms out around 152 kg with these example inputs but is nearly flat from about 100 kg to 300 kg. Replace the example freight, check practice and holding rate with your own.
Straight answer
I use 100 kg of soy wax per month — should I purchase monthly, fortnightly or in larger bulk orders?
Monthly, by default — and the reason is that the cost difference is small while the practical risks are not. Each order carries a fixed cost (freight and admin, an example ₹500, plus the check you run on each delivery) and each kilo you hold carries a holding cost (an example 1.5% a month). With those inputs the cheapest order size is about 152 kg, but the curve is flat: monthly 100 kg costs ₹120.36 a month more than that optimum, fortnightly ₹810.06 more than monthly, two-monthly ₹68.09 less. On CSI's ladders there is no price reason to go bigger: Chunks are cheapest above 1 kg in 5 kg bags (100 kg = 20 × 5 kg, ₹59,900.00) and CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilo from 1 kg to 10 kg (₹50,740.00). So choose fortnightly if dry storage or cash is tight, and larger bulk only with a written per-kg saving that beats holding the extra stock. Every delivery — about 543 candles' worth — gets a check against a retained control before it goes into jars.
One line: the maths is flat around monthly; let storage, cash and lot exposure choose.
At 100 kg a month, buy monthly unless your storage or cash says otherwise. In Luxury Soy Wax Chunks make the 100 kg from 20 × 5 kg bags (₹59,900.00) — ten 10 kg bags cost ₹59,990.00, ₹90.00 more. In Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 it is 10 × 10 kg, ₹50,740.00, at the same ₹507.40 a kilo as any other size.
Buy Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — 5 kg

The short answer: monthly, because the cost curve is flat and the risks are not

At 100 kg a month the maths barely cares how often you order. Your storeroom and your lot risk care a great deal.

At 100 kg a month you are pouring about 543 candles of 200 g at an 8% load, using 3.33 kg of wax a day. Ordering cadence is a trade between two costs that pull in opposite directions. Every order costs something fixed — freight, the time to place and receive it, and the check you run before a new delivery goes into jars. Every kilogram you hold costs something too — cash on a shelf, space, and exposure to heat and damp. Order often and you pay the first many times; order rarely and you pay the second on a bigger pile.

When you price both with honest example figures — ₹500 of freight and admin per order, a short check on each delivery, and 1.5% a month to hold stock — the cheapest order size comes out at about 152 kg. But the bottom of that curve is very flat: ordering exactly 100 kg a month costs only ₹120.36 a month more than the theoretical best. Fortnightly 50 kg orders cost ₹810.06 more a month than monthly; two-monthly 200 kg orders cost ₹68.09 less; quarterly 300 kg orders ₹208.71 more. Every one of those gaps is under ₹1,000 a month — small next to a 100-kg monthly wax bill of ₹59,900.00.

So the decision is made by things the formula does not see: how many bags you can store cool and dry, how much cash you want on the shelf, and how many candles you are willing to stake on a single delivery you have not yet checked. For most workshops at this volume, monthly is the sensible default, fortnightly is the right choice when space or cash is tight, and larger bulk orders only make sense with a quoted per-kg saving and storage you have actually tested.

The CSI principle
When the cost curve is flat, choose the cadence your storeroom and your risk tolerance can live with.
Monthly, fortnightly and two-monthly differ by less than ₹1,000 a month. A damp corner or an unchecked bad lot can cost a whole month.

Five cadences at 100 kg a month, side by side

The table prices each cadence for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks in its cheapest bag route and shows the average cycle stock you hold, the cash it represents and how many candles ride on each delivery. The last column — candles per delivery — is the one people forget. If a delivery has a problem you only discover after pouring, that is how many candles are at risk.

100 kg/month · Chunks at ₹599.00/kg in 5 kg bags · CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026 · 200 g candles at 8%
How often to buy: cadence, stock and exposure
Cadence Per order CSI packs (Chunks) Order value Average cycle stock Cash on shelf Candles per delivery
Weekly-ish 25 kg 5 × 5 kg ₹14,975.00 12.5 kg ₹7,487.50 136
Fortnightly 50 kg 10 × 5 kg ₹29,950.00 25.0 kg ₹14,975.00 272
Monthly 100 kg 20 × 5 kg ₹59,900.00 50.0 kg ₹29,950.00 543
Every two months 200 kg 40 × 5 kg ₹1,19,800.00 100.0 kg ₹59,900.00 1087
Quarterly 300 kg 60 × 5 kg ₹1,79,700.00 150.0 kg ₹89,850.00 1630

Notice that the pack route never changes the per-kilo price: every order is in 5 kg bags at ₹599.00 a kilo, because the 10 kg Chunks bag is ₹599.90 a kilo — ten of them would cost ₹90.00 more per 100 kg than twenty 5 kg bags. For CSI 464 the ladder is flat at ₹507.40 a kilo from 1 kg up, so 10 kg bags are simply fewer to handle. Neither wax gives you a reason to buy more often or less often on price. A 200 kg or 300 kg lot is beyond CSI's listed packs anyway — that becomes a WhatsApp quote, and we publish no volume discount figure.

Treating "bulk" as a price decision when the ladder is flat. A maker moves to quarterly 300 kg orders expecting a lower rate, gets the same per-kilo price, and now holds 89,850 rupees of average cycle stock instead of 29,950. Fix: only move to larger orders when someone has quoted a lower per-kg price in writing, and compare it with the holding cost of the extra stock. The 100 kg MOQ post and the ₹40-a-kilo saving post do that comparison.

The cost curve, worked: ordering versus holding

The economic order quantity formula is old, simple and useful — as long as you remember its inputs are your guesses.

The classic economic order quantity is √(2 × monthly use × cost per order ÷ holding cost per kg per month). Every input matters, so here they are, all labelled. Monthly use is yours: 100 kg. The holding cost uses an example 1.5% a month on ₹599.00 a kilo, which is ₹8.98 per kilo per month. The cost per order has two parts. Freight and admin is an example ₹500 — CSI publishes no shipping charges, so replace it with what you actually pay. The incoming check depends on your practice: a full 3 + 3 check uses about ₹2,024.20 of materials; a routine 1 + 1 pull from the first production batch uses about ₹534.69.

Example inputs: freight/admin ₹500 per order, holding 1.5%/month on ₹599.00/kg · replace both with yours
Monthly cost of each cadence, two checking practices
Order size Orders a month Ordering + check (1 + 1) Holding Total (1 + 1) Total (full 3 + 3)
25 kg 4.00 ₹4,138.76 ₹112.31 ₹4,251.07 ₹10,209.10
50 kg 2.00 ₹2,069.38 ₹224.62 ₹2,294.00 ₹5,273.02
100 kg 1.00 ₹1,034.69 ₹449.25 ₹1,483.94 ₹2,973.45
200 kg 0.50 ₹517.34 ₹898.50 ₹1,415.84 ₹2,160.60
300 kg 0.33 ₹344.90 ₹1,347.75 ₹1,692.65 ₹2,189.15

With a routine 1 + 1 check, the lowest-cost order is about 152 kg; with a full 3 + 3 check on every delivery it moves out to about 237 kg, because each order now carries more fixed cost. Either way, the totals from 100 kg to 300 kg sit within a few hundred rupees of each other, and even fortnightly orders cost under ₹1,000 a month more. That is the flat-bottom property of this curve, and it is good news: you are free to choose cadence on practical grounds without paying much for it. The procurement system post keeps this formula as one input among several, and the cash-versus-discount post adds a discount to the curve.

Lower the cost per order before you enlarge the order
If ordering feels expensive, look at what each order costs before buying more wax at once. Combining wax with wicks, jars and oil in one shipment, keeping the check candles as part of the first production batch, and using a standing order message all cut the fixed cost per order — which shrinks the best order size back towards monthly.

What decides it in practice: space, summer and lot exposure

One hundred kilograms is twenty 5 kg bags or ten 10 kg bags. Two hundred is twice that. Before choosing a cadence, measure the cool, dry space you have off the floor and away from a sun-facing wall or a tin roof. CSI publishes no heat-survival data for its waxes, and the 60-month shelf life on the CSI 464 product page is stated for cool, dry storage. A cadence that pushes bags into a hot corridor in May is not cheaper; it is untested. Storing 100 kg of soy wax through an Indian summer covers what to confirm.

The second practical limit is lot exposure. At monthly cadence about 543 candles' worth of wax arrives in one delivery. CSI publishes no lot numbers or batch-consistency data, so you cannot assume two deliveries are the same — you can only check. A smaller, more frequent delivery limits how many candles a surprise can reach; a larger one means one check governs more production. If you choose two-monthly or quarterly orders, make the incoming check thorough and keep a retained sample of each delivery. Testing each lot before mixing it into production covers multi-lot purchases.

Mixing a new delivery straight into open stock. A maker tips the first new bag into a half-used bag of the old delivery to save space. Now any difference cannot be traced to either. Fix: finish one delivery before opening the next, label every bag with its order date, and keep 600 g of each approved delivery sealed as a retained sample until the next one has passed its check.

The incoming check, sized to your cadence

Whatever cadence you choose, each delivery gets a check before it goes into jars. The depth of that check is a working practice you set, and it should rise with the size of the delivery. The candle counts below are labelled working practices, not standards.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A quarterly order would be a bigger sale for us. On CSI's listed ladders it would not lower your price per kilo, it would put about 150 kg of average stock on your shelf instead of 50 kg, and a single unchecked delivery would govern over 1,600 candles. Monthly is the better default for you, so it is the one we recommend.

For the reader who asked: order monthly. In Luxury Soy Wax Chunks that is 20 × 5 kg, ₹59,900.00; in CSI 464, 10 × 10 kg, ₹50,740.00. Switch to fortnightly if your dry storage is under about a dozen bags. Only move to two-monthly or quarterly lots against a written per-kg quote that beats the extra holding cost, and check every delivery against a retained control before it reaches a jar. Safety stock at 50 kg a month shows how to size the buffer that sits under whichever cadence you choose.

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. At 100 kg a month, October and early November are likely to run well above normal. Place the festive wax as a separate order now, keep your monthly cadence for the base load, and message us on WhatsApp for anything above the listed 10 kg bags — no volume discount figure is published.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. Recommending quarterly orders would sell more wax at once. On our listed ladders it would not lower your per-kilo price, and it would raise your stock, cash and lot exposure — so we recommend monthly. We publish no lot numbers or batch-consistency data, which is why every delivery gets your own check.

Wax prices are CSI live pricing re-checked on 1 October 2026; oil prices were pulled on 24 September 2026; wick and jar prices are Blog 760's, verified 10 September 2026. Order values, cycle stock, cash, ordering and holding costs and the economic order quantity are arithmetic shown to two decimals.

The ₹500 freight/admin per order, the 1.5% monthly holding rate, the check practices (1 + 1 and 3 + 3), the 200 g candle at 8% and cure checkpoints are labelled examples — CSI publishes no shipping charges or delivery times. For quotes above 10 kg, GST invoicing or MSDS, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a candle business order wax?
Often enough that stock fits your dry storage and cash, rarely enough that ordering and checking costs stay small. At 100 kg a month, monthly is a sensible default; the total cost difference from fortnightly or two-monthly is small.
What is the economic order quantity for candle wax?
√(2 × monthly use × cost per order ÷ holding cost per kg per month). With 100 kg a month, an example ₹500 + check per order and 1.5%/month on ₹599.00/kg, it is about 152 kg.
Is buying 300 kg of soy wax at once cheaper?
Only if a supplier quotes a lower per-kg price for it. CSI's listed packs stop at 10 kg (Natural Soy Pearl 50 kg) and larger lots are quoted on WhatsApp with no published discount.
How much storage space does 100 kg of soy wax need?
Twenty 5 kg bags or ten 10 kg bags, kept cool, dry and off the floor. CSI publishes no heat-survival data; CSI 464's page states a 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage.
Should I test every delivery of soy wax?
Check it, sized to the delivery: a 1 + 1 production pull for routine monthly deliveries and a 3 + 3 check before production for a new cadence or a larger lot. These are labelled working practices.
Can I mix two deliveries of soy wax?
Avoid it until both have passed their checks. Finish one delivery before opening the next, label bags by order date, and keep a retained sample of each.
Monthly by default
Order monthly. Check every delivery. Go bigger only for a written per-kg saving.
