1,103 g
of Lavender on the shelf is the single reorder point for three products (91.9 g a day × 12 days, labelled example lead time) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How do I combine the three BOMs? Oil per product = poured × fill × load × (1 + loss); combined = the sum. Each product keeps its own BOM; only buying is combined.

How much Lavender here? 2,758.5 g a month: 1,887 g for the jar, 672 g for the tin, 200 g for the heart.

What is the reorder quantity? One month rounded once: 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g, ₹14,517.02 — ₹204.02 less than three separate orders.

What is the reorder point? Daily usage × (lead time + safety days): 91.95 g × 12 = 1,103 g (lead time is a labelled example; CSI publishes none).
The short answer
Answer: Calculate the oil line in each product's BOM, add them into one monthly requirement, round that once to the cheapest in-stock packs, and reorder from one shelf level: daily usage × (lead time + safety days).
Why: All three products draw from one bottle. Ordering per product rounds three times, lands in dearer small packs, and lets one product run dry while its oil sits in another product's bottle.
Method: Per-product oil → sum → one reorder point → one reorder quantity → update when any product's forecast or load changes. Lead-time reorder points sets the lead time per material.
One Lavender bottle, three products, one reorder point Example: monthly oil per product with QC, 3% rejects and 4% pour loss · 5-day lead time and 7-day safety are labelled examples Lavender 180 g Salsa jar 126 poured · 8% · 1,887 g oil Lavender 85 g travel tin 95 poured · 8% · 672 g oil Lavender 50 g velvet heart 64 poured · 6% · 200 g oil Lavender 2,758 g/mo reorder point 1,103 g safety stock 644 g day 0 day 30 Lavender on the shelf Ordered separately: three bottles, 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 4 × 100 g, 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 2 × 15 g, 2 × 100 g = ₹14,721.04. Combined: 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g = ₹14,517.02, and one stock line to watch.
Three products' Lavender lines merge into one monthly requirement; the shelf is drawn down daily and reordered once when it reaches the single reorder point, landing before safety stock is touched. Lead time, safety days and starting stock are labelled examples — CSI publishes no lead times.
Straight answer
I use Lavender fragrance in three different products — how do I combine all three BOMs to determine the correct fragrance-oil reorder quantity?
Work out the Lavender line in each product's BOM, add them into one monthly requirement, round it once to real packs, and reorder from one shelf level. Per product, oil = candles poured × fill × load × (1 + pour loss), where candles poured = (units + QC) ÷ (1 − reject rate). On this page's example — a 180 g Salsa jar candle and an 85 g tin at 8%, a 50 g velvet heart at 6%, 270 units a month in CSI 464 — that is 1,887.0 g + 671.8 g + 199.7 g = 2,758.5 g a month. Rounded once, the reorder quantity is 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g of Lavender (₹14,517.02), ₹204.02 less than three separate orders. The reorder point is daily usage × (lead time + safety days): 91.95 g × (5 + 7) = 1,103 g, using a labelled 5-day lead time. Each product keeps its own BOM for production; only buying is combined.
One line: per-product oil lines for production, one combined line for buying, one reorder point for the shelf.
For the example on this page — Lavender in a 180 g Salsa jar candle, an 85 g travel tin and a 50 g velvet heart, 270 units a month — the combined Lavender requirement is 2,758.5 g a month, ordered as 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g for ₹14,517.02, with one reorder point at 1,103 g on the shelf. Lavender Fragrance Oil is ₹5.22 a gram at 1 kg.

Three products, one bottle: why the oil is one stock line

Three BOMs say Lavender. Your shelf has one Lavender. Order it as one.

When the same fragrance goes into several products, each product's BOM has its own Lavender line — different fill, perhaps a different load, a different number of units. It is natural to order from each BOM: a bottle for the jars, a bottle for the tins, a bottle for the hearts. But on the shelf all three draw from the same stock. Ordering per product creates two problems. The packs come out smaller and dearer per gram, because each product's need lands in a lower pack tier. And the reorder decision is made three times, against three imaginary stock levels, so one product can run dry while the oil it needs sits in another product's bottle.

The fix is to combine the three BOM lines into one monthly requirement for the oil, set one reorder point for it, and place one reorder when the shelf reaches that point. The three products keep their own BOMs for production — the combined figure is only for buying. This page does it for Lavender across three candle formats in Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. If one of your formats is a wax melt, the candles-and-wax-melts post covers the different loads involved.

The CSI principle
Each product keeps its own BOM. Each oil gets one requirement, one reorder point and one reorder.
Demand is per product; stock is per material. Buying belongs to the material.

Step 1: the three Lavender lines, one per product

The three products are the reader's example. The 180 g fill in the 200 ml Salsa jar is the reader's weighed fill (CSI does not publish one); the Golden Aluminium Tin has a published 85 g fill and the Heart Cutout Velvet Jar a published 50 g wax capacity. The jar and tin run at 8%; the small heart runs at 6%, the reader's own formula for a candle that burns in a small space. All three are inside CSI 464's 10% ceiling. Allowances: 2 QC candles per product, an example 3% reject rate, 4% pour loss on wax and oil.

Reader's example · CSI convention: oil = fill × load · QC 2 per product · rejects 3% · pour loss 4%
Lavender per product, per month
Product Fill Load Oil / candle Units Poured Lavender with allowances
Lavender 180 g Salsa jar 180 g 8% 14.4 g 120 126 1,887.0 g
Lavender 85 g travel tin 85 g 8% 6.8 g 90 95 671.8 g
Lavender 50 g velvet heart 50 g 6% 3.0 g 60 64 199.7 g
Combined Lavender 270 285 2,758.5 g

The jar candle uses 68% of the month's Lavender, the tin 24% and the heart 7%. That is the share to watch: if the jar candle's sales jump, the oil runs short for all three products, so a forecast change in one product must update the combined line at once. Per-SKU forecasting gives you the units per product; this page is about what happens to the oil after that.

Step 2: combine, then round once

Round three small needs and you pay three roundings. Round one combined need and you pay one.

Lavender's listed prices are ₹105.02 for 15 g (₹7.00/g), ₹270.00 for 50 g and ₹540.00 for 100 g (₹5.40/g), ₹2,620.00 for 500 g (₹5.24/g) and ₹5,221.00 for 1 kg (₹5.22/g). Rounded separately, each product's need lands on its own mix of packs. Rounded once, the combined need reaches the 1 kg tier for most of the volume.

Separately or combined: the same Lavender, two ways to buy it

Lavender 180 g Salsa jar 1,887.0 g 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 4 × 100 g 1,900 g ₹10,001.00
Lavender 85 g travel tin 671.8 g 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 2 × 15 g 680 g ₹3,640.04
Lavender 50 g velvet heart 199.7 g 2 × 100 g 200 g ₹1,080.00
Three separate orders 2,758.5 g 2,780 g ₹14,721.04
One combined order 2,758.5 g 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g 2,765 g ₹14,517.02
Difference 15 g ₹204.02

The saving is real but modest — ₹204.02 a month — and that is the honest headline. Lavender is one of the many CSI oils whose per-gram price barely moves above 100 g (₹5.40 to ₹5.22, about 3%). The bigger gain from combining is not price: it is one bottle to track, one reorder decision, and no 15 g top-ups at ₹7.00/g because one product's bottle ran out before the others. For an oil with a real break at 1 kg — British Rose, Mango Coconut, Honeydew Melon — combining saves more; the 1.3 kg post works through 500 g and 1 kg combinations.

The allocation trap: "that bottle is for the tins." Labelling stock by product feels organised, but it means the jar candles wait for a delivery while the tin bottle sits half-full. Fix: one stock line per oil, drawn by every product, with a single running total. Record usage per product (for costing and forecasting), not stock per product.

Step 3: one reorder point and one reorder quantity

A reorder point is the shelf level at which you place the next order, so that the new stock arrives before you dip into safety stock. It is daily usage × (lead time + safety days). The combined Lavender usage is 2,758.5 g ÷ 30 = 91.95 g a day. CSI publishes no lead times, so use your own experience of order-to-arrival; this page uses a labelled example of 5 days, plus 7 days of safety stock. Reorder point = 91.95 g × 12 = 1,103 g; safety stock = 644 g.

Labelled example · lead time 5 days (yours may differ — CSI publishes none) · safety 7 days
Combined Lavender: usage, reorder point, reorder quantity
Line Calculation Result
Monthly requirement Sum of three product lines 2,758.5 g
Daily usage ÷ 30 91.95 g
Safety stock 7 days × daily usage 644 g
Reorder point (5 + 7) days × daily usage 1,103 g
Reorder quantity One month's requirement, rounded to cheapest packs 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g (2,765 g)
Price per reorder CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026 ₹14,517.02

The diagram shows how that plays out from an example starting stock of 1,400 g: usage draws the shelf down at 91.9 g a day, the order goes in the day it crosses 1,103 g, and it lands 5 days later with the safety stock still intact. If you used three reorder points — one per product — they would add up to the same 1,103 g but be checked against three made-up stock levels, which is exactly how the allocation trap starts.

Reorder quantity is a pack decision, not a formula
One month's need, rounded to the cheapest packs, is a sensible default. If your Lavender sells steadily and you have the cash, two months as 5 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 15 g costs ₹28,935.04 — the per-gram price is the same at 1 kg either way, so the only gain is fewer orders. Which materials to buy often and a separate reorder point per material take that decision further.

The month's order for the three Lavender products

The combined Lavender order sits inside a normal monthly order for the three products. The wax is Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (₹507.40 a kilo at 1, 5 and 10 kg). Wicks are the reader's tested choices — Eco Thick C2 in the Salsa jar, Eco Thin C1 in the tin and the heart; CSI publishes no wick-size-per-diameter chart. Breakage of 2% is applied to the glass Salsa jars only.

At the combined Lavender rate of ₹5.25/g, the oil in each product costs ₹75.60 (jar), ₹35.70 (tin) and ₹15.75 (heart). That is the figure to use in each product's costing — the shared bottle has one price per gram, whichever product draws from it.

Buy now, buy after testing

All three formulas are tested, so the month's Lavender can be bought now. The case worth showing is a formula change in one product, because it changes the combined line for all three. Suppose the reader wants to try the Salsa jar candle at 9% instead of 8% — still inside CSI 464's 10% ceiling. That adds 1.8 g of oil per candle and about 236 g a month, which would move the combined order to 3 × 1 kg (₹15,663.00). None of that is bought until three 9% candles have cured and burned against an 8% control.

The split for this month · a load change in one product changes the combined oil line
Now, and after the 9% trial
Buy now Quantity After testing Quantity
Lavender at today's formulas 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 1 × 15 g Extra Lavender for 9% production about 236 g a month, only if 9% passes

9% trial 3 candles · 1 × 50 g Lavender + 1 × pack of 5 Salsa jars · ₹470.60 —

The month's order leaves almost nothing spare — 6.5 g of Lavender, 1 Salsa jar and 4 Thick C2 wicks — so the trial is bought as its own small lines rather than borrowed from production: 1 × 50 g of Lavender for the 50.5 g three 9% candles need, and 1 × pack of 5 Salsa jars; the wicks come from the spare four. That is ₹470.60, kept outside the production subtotal above. Borrowing from production instead would bring the reorder point forward and leave three candles short at month end.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We sell Lavender in 1 kg bottles at ₹5,221.00, and combining your three products is the reason you might buy one. But on our listed prices the 1 kg is only ₹0.18 a gram cheaper than the 100 g (₹5.22 against ₹5.40) — the monthly saving on this page is ₹204.02. If your three products together use less than about 500 g a month, buy 100 g bottles more often and keep the cash. Volume pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp; no discount figure is published.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate fragrance oil for several candle products?
For each product: candles poured × fill weight × fragrance load × (1 + pour loss). Add the products together for the oil's monthly requirement, then round once to real pack sizes.
What is a reorder point for fragrance oil?
The shelf level at which you place the next order: daily usage × (lead time in days + safety days). With one oil in several products, use the combined daily usage and one reorder point.
Is 1 kg of Lavender fragrance oil cheaper than 100 g?
Slightly: ₹5.22 a gram at 1 kg against ₹5.40 at 100 g and ₹7.00 at 15 g. The big step is from 15 g to 50 g or 100 g.
Should I keep separate fragrance stock for each product?
No — keep one stock line per oil and record usage per product for costing. Separate bottles per product let one product run out while its oil sits in another bottle.
How does changing fragrance load in one product affect my reorder?
It changes the combined requirement for every product sharing the oil. On this page, moving the jar candle from 8% to 9% adds about 236 g a month. Test the new load before buying for it.
How much Lavender oil is in an 85 g candle tin at 8%?
6.8 g of oil and 78.2 g of wax, using CSI's convention that load is a share of the finished weight. The Golden Aluminium Tin's 85 g fill is published by CSI.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of the finished candle weight (oil = W × L; wax = W × (1 − L)). Allowances are applied in one order — test candles as whole candles, reject allowance by dividing by (1 − reject rate), pour loss on wax and oil only, breakage on glass only, then rounding up to listed in-stock CSI packs — and no allowance is applied twice. The 180 g Salsa fill is the reader's weighed fill; the 85 g tin and 50 g velvet jar fills are published. CSI publishes no jar internal diameters or fill weights except the Golden Aluminium Tin (85 g) and the Heart Cutout Velvet Jar (50 g wax capacity), no wick-size-per-diameter chart, no throw or burn-test data, no lead times, no volume discount and no 25 kg or 100 kg pack; container soy bags stop at 10 kg and Natural Soy Pearl goes to 50 kg. CSI 464's 10% ceiling, 80–90°C working range and 60-month shelf life are as CSI's product page states them. Units, loads, QC candles, 3% rejects, 4% pour loss, 2% breakage, the 5-day lead time, 7 safety days and the 1,400 g starting stock are labelled examples. Costs exclude labels, boxes, labour, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
