Candle Supplier Guides · Fragrance Oil
Eight oud and amber oils on CSI's shelf, from ₹4.53 to ₹15.06 a gram. Four publish a candle load, two publish a flash point, and the ones that smell most expensive are the ones most likely to brown your white wax.
₹72.50 – ₹240.90
fragrance in one 200 g candle at 8% of wax weight · Woody Oud to Khamrah Qahwa at 1 kg pricing · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which oud fragrance oil is the best value for a luxury candle? Woody Oud at ₹4.53/g. The page publishes an Oriental / Woody / Exotic family, a soy load of 6–10% of total wax weight, 6–8% for paraffin and a 48–72 hour cure, and it puts only ₹72.50 of fragrance into a 200 g candle at 8%.

Which one reads as the most luxurious? White Royal Oud is the smokeless one: bergamot and saffron over a white oud, rose and labdanum heart with a sandalwood, ambergris and musk base, described on the page as oud depth without heavy smoke. It states 6–10% for candles, suggesting 6–7% for background warmth and 9–10% for a statement — ₹129.65 of oil per 200 g candle at 8%.

Will oud and amber oils discolour white wax? Most of the warm ones say they will. The Afnan 9 PM inspired page states moderate-to-significant browning from high vanilla and tonka content; the Khamrah Qahwa page states significant browning is likely. Plan a dark, amber or opaque vessel first and the question disappears — a black glass jar with black lid is ₹107.00 each in a pack of 10.

What load should I start a premium oud at? At the bottom of the published range, not the top. The two perfume-grade amber pages both say to start at 7% and adjust up to 10% — ₹210.78 of Khamrah Qahwa in a 200 g candle rather than ₹240.90 at 8%. The lower of the wax ceiling and the oil range always governs.
The short answer
Value anchor: Woody Oud at ₹4.53/g, ₹72.50 a candle at 8%. Published family, published 6–10% soy load, published cure. It is the oud to launch a premium line on before you know which scent sells.
Flagship: White Royal Oud at ₹8.10/g, ₹129.65 a candle. Smokeless, modern, with a stated 6–10% range and specific guidance at each end of it. This is the one that can carry a ₹1,499.00 price if your glass and your finishing match.
Decide the colour first: The warmest, most expensive-smelling oils state the largest discolouration risk. Pick the vessel and wax tone before the scent, and a stated browning note stops being a defect and becomes the product.

Straight answer
Which oud or amber fragrance oil should you buy for a luxury candle?
Buy on three things in this order: what the page publishes, what your vessel can hide, and what your retail price can carry. On published figures, Woody Oud is the value anchor — an Oriental / Woody / Exotic family, citrus and spice over an oud and patchouli heart with a woody, amber and musk base, a stated 6–10% of total wax weight in soy, 6–8% in paraffin and a 48–72 hour cure, at ₹4.53/g or ₹72.50 of oil per 200 g candle at 8%. Dark Vanilla Oud sits one step up at ₹5.69/g and ₹91.06 a candle, with the same stated 6–10% range, an IFRA statement and a vanilla and cardamom opening that makes oud legible to customers who find it austere. White Royal Oud is the flagship at ₹8.10/g and ₹129.65 a candle: the page describes a smokeless, modern-oriental profile and gives load guidance at both ends — 6–7% for hotel-lobby warmth, 9–10% for a statement. On the amber side, Bergamot Amber is the accessible one at ₹5.44/g with a stated 6–10% and an 8% balanced midpoint, while the perfume-grade pages — Khamrah Qahwa at ₹15.06/g and Afnan 9 PM inspired at ₹12.96/g — publish the most (family, 7–10% starting at 7%, a maximum of 10% for candles, a flash point above 93°C, IFRA compliance and an explicit discolouration warning) and cost the most: ₹240.90 and ₹207.36 of oil in a single 200 g candle. Midnight Bakhoor Royale and Sultan’s Smoke publish note pyramids and positioning but no candle load — ask on WhatsApp before you plan a batch around either. Whatever you choose, the lower of the wax grade's stated maximum and the oil page's stated range governs, and at this end of the shelf the discolouration line on the page should decide your glass before it decides your scent.
One line: Woody Oud to launch on, White Royal Oud to lead with, Bergamot Amber for the accessible warm candle, perfume-grade amber only when the retail price and the vessel can both carry it.
Pricing a premium candle this month? The fragrance line alone runs from ₹72.50 to ₹240.90 in a single 200 g candle at 8% of wax weight. Work out which of those your retail price can carry before you fall in love with a bottle.

Oud and amber: two words doing several jobs

Oud on a CSI page can mean a smokeless modern oriental, a vanilla-led gourmand or a resinous bakhoor. Amber can mean a fine-fragrance sweet amber or a bergamot-led warm floral. The words are not the specification.

Eight oils on CSI's shelf sit in the oud and amber territory, and they are separated by a factor of more than three in price: ₹4.53/g at one end, ₹15.06/g at the other. In a 200 g candle at 8% of wax weight that is ₹72.50 against ₹240.90 — a difference of ₹168.40 per candle, or ₹16,839.68 across a run of a hundred. No other fragrance family on the shelf has that spread, which is why buying by name rather than by published specification is more expensive here than anywhere else.

The useful question is not “which oud is best”. It is “which of these pages tells me enough to formulate, cost and answer a customer with”. Four of the eight publish a candle load. Two publish a flash point. Two publish an explicit discolouration warning. Two publish nothing about wax at all — they publish a note pyramid, a mood and a wear profile, which is genuinely useful for a perfume or an attar and not enough to plan a candle batch on.

That is not a complaint about thin pages; across CSI's 92 fragrance oils, roughly three-quarters publish a candle usage range and rather fewer publish a flash point. It is a buying instruction. Where the page publishes a load, use it. Where it does not, ask on WhatsApp with your wax grade and jar size, and do not borrow a percentage from a different oil because the notes sound similar. Two compositions that both say “oud, amber, musk” can behave completely differently in the same wax.

Reading a flash point as a strength rating. Two of these pages publish a flash point above 93°C and the rest do not publish one at all, and none of that tells you anything about hot throw. A flash point belongs to transport and storage paperwork: it is the lowest temperature at which the vapour sitting over the liquid will flash if something ignites it. It is not the temperature at which fragrance burns off in a candle, and a high figure does not mean a stronger oil. The usual 80–90°C add window for soy sits below the published figures here; for any oil that publishes a low flash point, add at the lower end of the window.

Three directions the word “oud” is used in

Your customer has met exactly one of these three before, and which one decides whether your candle reads as luxury or as a room freshener.

Smokeless and modern

White Royal Oud is the clearest example. The page describes bergamot and saffron on top, a heart of white royal oud, rose petals and labdanum, and a base of creamy sandalwood, ambergris and soft musk, and it says the composition gives oud depth without heavy smoke — explicitly aimed at customers who find traditional oud too heavy for a home candle. Commercially, this is the safest oud for an Indian D2C brand selling to people who have never bought an oud candle before. It is also the one that survives a gifting context, where the recipient did not choose the scent. At ₹8.10/g it costs ₹129.65 a candle at 8%, and the page gives you a genuine lever: 6–7% for background warmth, 9–10% for a statement — ₹97.24 against ₹162.06 of oil, which is a real formulation choice rather than a marketing sentence.

Classic oriental

Woody Oud and Dark Vanilla Oud sit here. Woody Oud's page describes a citrus and spice opening cutting into an oud and patchouli heart over woody notes, amber and musk, strength described as strong, and a 6–10% soy load with a 48–72 hour cure. Dark Vanilla Oud softens the same territory with vanilla and cardamom on top and a musk and cedar base, and states the same 6–10% range with an IFRA statement. The practical difference for an Indian range is who they sell to: the vanilla-led version tends to be easier for a first-time buyer, the straight woody one reads as more serious. At ₹4.53/g and ₹5.69/g they are also the two that let you launch an oud candle without committing a large fragrance budget.

Bakhoor and smoke

Midnight Bakhoor Royale and Sultan’s Smoke are the resinous, smoky end — spiced incense over oud wood and smoky resin, with amber, musk and balsamic warmth in the base, described in terms of a night gathering and traditional luxury. For a certain Indian customer this is the only oud that counts, and for another it is overwhelming in a closed 10 × 12 ft bedroom. Both are ₹8.00/g on the 1 kg pack. Neither page publishes a candle load, a flash point or a discolouration note, so before you build a festive SKU on one of them, message CSI with your wax grade and jar size and get the load in writing. Until you have it, work at the conservative end of whatever your wax states and prove it in a cured burn.

Testing a smoky oud in the same session as a fresh one. Resinous, balsamic compositions saturate a room and your nose for far longer than a citrus or a light floral. If you burn a bakhoor-style candle and then try to judge a rose or an aquatic in the same room an hour later, the second reading is worthless. Test smoky ouds last in any session, ventilate for a full day afterwards, and never score two of them side by side.

Five oils, and the product each one can carry

1
Oriental woody · the value anchor
Woody Oud Fragrance Oil
The oud to start a premium line on. The page publishes an Oriental / Woody / Exotic family, a full note structure — citrus and spice top, oud and patchouli heart, woody, amber and musk base — a strength described as strong and room-commanding at standard loads, a soy load of 6–10% of total wax weight with a 48–72 hour cure, 6–8% for paraffin with a 24–48 hour cure, and 10–15% for wax melts. It also names its blending partners, sandalwood and rose among them. At ₹4.53/g it is the cheapest route to a credible oud candle on this shelf: ₹72.50 of fragrance in a 200 g candle at 8%, ₹7,249.92 of oil for a hundred of them. If you are launching an oud SKU without knowing whether it will sell, this is the one to launch with, and the money you save on fragrance is better spent on glass that photographs well.

Modern oriental · the flagship
White Royal Oud
The oil to put your brand name next to. Bergamot and saffron top, white royal oud, rose petals and labdanum heart, creamy sandalwood, ambergris and soft musk base, strength described as strong and room-filling, and a stated candle load of 6–10% of total wax weight with 10–15% for wax melts and an IFRA statement. What makes it genuinely useful is the load guidance: the page tells you 6–7% gives a refined, hotel-lobby warmth in the background and 9–10% gives a decadent statement scent. Most oil pages give you a range and leave you to guess where inside it to sit. At ₹8.10/g that choice is worth real money — ₹97.24 at 6% against ₹162.06 at 10%, a swing of ₹64.82 per candle. For a ₹1,499.00 gifting candle the upper end is defensible; for a ₹699.00 everyday SKU it is not.

3
Woody oriental · the accessible oud
Dark Vanilla Oud
Oud for people who say they do not like oud. The page describes rich vanilla and spicy cardamom on top, exotic oud and deep amber in the heart and warm musk with woody cedar in the base, a strength described as strong with a bold, opulent throw, a candle load of 6–10% of total wax weight, 10–15% for wax melts, and an IFRA statement. The vanilla opening is what does the commercial work: it gives a customer something familiar to hold on to in the first three seconds, and the oud arrives underneath rather than at the door. At ₹5.69/g it costs ₹91.06 a candle at 8%, between the two ouds above. One honest note for a white-wax brand: the page does not publish a vanillin figure, and a composition led by vanilla and amber is the kind that can warm pale wax over time, so run a colour check on a sample jar before you commit a white-wax batch rather than assuming either way.

Citrus oriental · the accessible amber
Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil
The amber that does not need a four-figure candle to make sense. The page publishes a Citrus / Oriental / Warm family, a soy load of 6–10% with a 48–72 hour cure and 6–8% for paraffin, and it does something unusually practical: it describes what each load does. At 8% it calls bergamot and amber balanced, the recommended starting point for most applications; at 10% it says amber comes forward, warmer and richer, with the vanilla and musk base more prominent, and names evening and gifting candles as the fit. At ₹5.44/g that is ₹86.99 of oil in a 200 g candle at 8% and ₹8,699.20 for a hundred. For a brand whose range sits at ₹699.00 to ₹999.00 and wants one warm, expensive-smelling SKU without moving to perfume-grade pricing, this is the obvious buy.

Perfume grade · the specialist
Khamrah Qahwa
A fine-fragrance-grade oil where candles are listed as one application among many. The page publishes a Warm Spicy Gourmand (Amber Oriental) family, a recommended candle load of 7–10% starting at 7%, a maximum usage table that caps candles at 10%, a flash point above 93°C, IFRA compliance, phthalate-free and skin-safety-tested statements, and an unambiguous warning: very high vanilla, coffee, cacao, benzoin and myrrh content means significant browning of white or light wax is likely, with matte black, espresso brown, burgundy or amber suggested instead. The page also notes that the perfume-grade concentration often means you need less than with a standard candle oil. Take that seriously — start at 7%, which is ₹210.78 of oil in a 200 g candle, not the ₹240.90 you would spend at 8%. At ₹15.06/g this is the most expensive fragrance line on this page by a wide margin, and it only makes sense when the retail price, the vessel and the story all carry it. The smallest pack is 50 g at ₹753.00, so there is no 15 gm trial route here.
Pack Price Per gram 200 g candles at 7%

₹210.78 of oil per 200 g candle at the page's 7% starting load · ₹24,089.60 for a hundred at 8% Buy Khamrah Qahwa

Afnan 9 PM inspired belongs in the same bracket at ₹12.96/g — a Sweet Amber (Amber Fougère) family, the same 7–10% starting at 7%, the same 10% candle cap, a flash point above 93°C, and a stated moderate-to-significant browning risk from high vanilla and tonka. At 7% that is ₹181.44 of oil a candle. Choose between the two on character rather than price: the Afnan page leads on a sweet apple-vanilla opening, the Khamrah page on coffee, spice and dates. Both are specialist buys, not range workhorses.

Plan the colour before you plan the scent

At the premium end, the oils that smell most expensive are usually the ones that state the biggest browning risk. That is a vessel decision, not a problem.

Vanillin and related warm materials brown wax over time. It is cosmetic — the candle burns and smells exactly as it did on day one — but a customer who bought a photograph of an ivory candle and received a tan one in week six will not read it that way, and at a four-figure price point they will say so publicly. This is the single most avoidable failure in premium Indian candle making, and it is avoidable because the pages tell you in advance.

The Khamrah Qahwa page states significant browning is likely and suggests matte black, espresso brown, burgundy or amber, or embracing a natural coffee-brown tone. The Afnan 9 PM page states moderate-to-significant browning and suggests amber, caramel, navy or deep colours. The Solar Bloom page states warm golden toning from vanilla and amber content. Woody Oud, Dark Vanilla Oud, White Royal Oud and Bergamot Amber do not publish a vanillin figure or a discolouration note, so for those the honest position is that you do not know until you have tested — run a colour check rather than assuming either direction.

The fix costs nothing if you make it before you buy glass. An opaque or dark vessel makes the whole question disappear: a black glass jar with black lid is ₹107.00 each in the pack of 10, a ceramic jar is ₹129.80, and an amber shiny glass jar with black lid is ₹47.20 each in a pack of 5. Add brown candle dye from ₹236.00 or gold mica from ₹116.82 and the warm tone becomes the design rather than the defect. There is a live CSI piece on which fragrances are least likely to discolour white wax if you want the other side of this decision.

THE WAX-CHIP SWATCH
You do not need to sacrifice a jar to answer the colour question. Pour four 10 g discs of your production wax into foil cupcake cases: one with no fragrance as the control, and three at 7%, 8% and 10% of the oil you are testing. Label the underside, leave all four on the same shelf in ordinary room light, and lay them on a white sheet next to the control at day 14 and day 28. Warm toning is far easier to see against an unfragranced chip of the same wax than against a memory of what white looked like, the whole test costs about 40 g of wax and a few grams of oil, and it tells you which load starts to show colour — which is a formulation answer, not just a yes or no.
Building a Diwali gift line? Diwali 2026 is 8 November 2026, so a 14–21 day cure plus courier time puts your pour date around mid-October and your fragrance decision in September. A hundred 200 g candles at 8% needs 1.6 kg: ₹7,249.92 on Woody Oud, ₹12,964.80 on White Royal Oud.

What the fragrance line costs inside a four-figure price

Fragrance is the only line in a premium candle that can triple without the customer seeing anything change.

Here is a premium 200 g candle built the same way five times: Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 at ₹130.00 for 200 g, an Eco Candle Wick Thin (C1) at ₹5.90, a black glass jar with black lid at ₹107.00, and fragrance at 8% of wax weight. Labels, boxes, packing material, courier and your own time are all excluded, so treat the totals as a materials floor rather than a landed cost.

Priced above: Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 1 kg ₹650.00 (₹130.00 per 200 g) · Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) ₹5.90 each in the 100-pack · Black Glass Jar with Black Lid ₹1,070.00 for 10, ₹107.00 each · oils at their 1 kg rates. The ₹999.00 and ₹1,499.00 retail prices are illustrative round numbers for the comparison, not CSI recommendations.

The pattern is the useful part. At ₹999.00 retail, Woody Oud's fragrance line is about 7.3% of the price and Khamrah Qahwa's is about 24.1% — a quarter of the ticket before you have paid for a box, a label or a courier. At ₹1,999.00 the same Khamrah candle drops to about 12.1%, which is a perfectly reasonable place for it to sit. That is the whole argument: a perfume-grade oil is not too expensive, it is too expensive for the wrong price point. Fix the price point or fix the oil.

There is a second lever the White Royal Oud page hands you. Moving from 10% to 6% takes the oil line from ₹162.06 to ₹97.24, a saving of ₹64.82 per candle or ₹6,482.40 across a hundred, and the page describes both ends as legitimate products rather than one being a compromise. Before you reach for a cheaper oil, find out whether your candle actually needs the top of the range — in a small Indian bedroom of 10 × 12 ft, a strong oil at 6% is frequently more pleasant than the same oil at 10%.

The CSI principle
A premium oil is not expensive or cheap on its own. It is expensive or cheap relative to the price on your label.
Khamrah Qahwa is 24.1% of a ₹999.00 candle and about 12.1% of a ₹1,999.00 one — same oil, same 16 g, different business.

Proving a premium oil without buying a kilo

At ₹15.06 a gram, guessing is the most expensive thing you can do. Testing is cheap by comparison.

Four 15 gm bottles — Woody Oud ₹93.22, Dark Vanilla Oud ₹105.02, White Royal Oud ₹130.00 and Bergamot Amber ₹105.02 — come to ₹433.26 and each pours roughly one 200 g candle at 8%. That is the entire oud and amber decision for less than the retail price of one finished candle. The perfume-grade pages start at 50 g, so adding Afnan 9 PM at ₹648.00 and Khamrah Qahwa at ₹753.00 takes a five-oil round to ₹2,412.40 at 50 g each. Decide whether you need them in the comparison before you spend that.

1. Pour every candidate identically, and label them on the baseSame wax grade, same jar, same wick, same load, poured from the same session. 200 g of CSI 468 at ₹130.00, 16 g of oil at 8%, an Eco C1 wick at ₹5.90. Have someone else letter the jars and keep the key, or seal the names in an envelope until you have scored every burn. You cannot judge a scent fairly once you know which one cost ₹15.06 a gram.
2
2. Hold the load at the bottom of the published range for the perfume-grade oilsBoth fine-fragrance pages say to start at 7% and that the concentration often means you need less than a standard candle oil. Take them at their word: 14 g rather than 16 g in a 200 g candle, ₹210.78 rather than ₹240.90 for Khamrah Qahwa. If the 7% jar is already strong at day 14, you have found your production load and saved ₹30.11 a candle.
3
3. Cure to fourteen days, with a cold reading at day threeSeveral of these pages ask for a 48–72 hour cure before burn testing, and the Woody Oud page adds that oud benefits from a full cure for cold-throw development. Take a cold note at day 3 and write it down, then leave the jars alone. Approve at day 14. Resinous and woody compositions in particular tend to read thin early and rounded later, and rejecting an oud at 72 hours is how makers talk themselves out of the oil they should have bought.
4
4. Burn one at a time, and score at the door rather than at the jarOne candle, one closed room of about the same size, a four-hour burn, and you walking in from outside after twenty minutes. Score strength at the door, character at the jar and whether it still reads as oud after four hours — thin compositions collapse into generic sweetness by hour three. Leave a full day between a smoky oud and anything else you intend to judge.
5
5. Buy the pack that matches a quarter's production, not the biggest oneWoody Oud is ₹4.53/g at 100 gm, 500 gm and 1 kg alike, so there is no penalty for buying 500 gm and reordering. White Royal Oud steps from ₹8.67/g at 15gm to ₹8.10/g at 100gm and holds that rate to the kilo. Work out your quarter's usage — a hundred 200 g candles at 8% is 1.6 kg — and buy to that, not to the shelf. What actually reads as luxury to an Indian buyer

The oil is one of four things the customer is judging, and it is not the first one they meet.

A candle at ₹1,499.00 is competing with a sari, a box of dry fruits and a bottle of single malt for the same gifting budget. What makes it feel worth the money, in the order the customer encounters it: the box and the glass, the weight in the hand, the cold throw when the lid comes off, then the hot throw an hour into the burn. The fragrance oil is decisive for the last two and irrelevant to the first two. A ₹15.06/g composition in a thin jar with a crooked label reads as an expensive mistake; a ₹4.53/g oud in heavy glass with a clean label reads as a luxury candle.

This is why the value anchor sits first in the picks above. The discipline that separates brands that survive from brands that do not is spending on the thing the customer can perceive at the moment of decision. Glass, lid, label alignment, the finish of the wax surface and the absence of a sinkhole around the wick are all visible in a photograph. The difference between two competent ouds is not, until the candle is lit in someone's home.

One more thing that costs nothing: honest label language. Name your own scent, describe the notes in your own words, and do not put another brand's fragrance name on your product. CSI's inspired-by pages exist so that you can buy a composition in that direction; the description belongs on the supplier's page, not on your label. Say what the candle smells like — bergamot, saffron, smokeless oud, warm sandalwood — and let the customer make the association themselves.

Buyers pay for the glass, the finish and the first honest sniff. They renew for what the candle smelled like in hour three.

Pricing a premium candle off the fragrance cost alone. A maker who works out ₹240.90 of oil and multiplies by four has forgotten the jar, the lid, the wick, the label, the box, the packing material, the courier and the payment gateway. On the premium build costed above, materials with the jar come to ₹483.80 before any of those. Price from a full landed cost and a target margin; there is a live CSI guide on pricing candles in India that walks through it properly.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials rather than finished candles, and the useful version of this page argues against its own top line. The most expensive oils here are not the best candle oils here. Khamrah Qahwa at ₹15.06/g and Afnan 9 PM inspired at ₹12.96/g are perfume-grade compositions whose pages list candles among several applications, and at a ₹999.00 retail price their fragrance line alone is around a quarter of the ticket. For most Indian brands the correct buy is Woody Oud at ₹4.53/g or Bergamot Amber at ₹5.44/g, with the saving spent on glass the customer can see. Two of the oils on this page publish no candle load at all, and this page says so rather than filling the gap with a plausible number.

Every price here is a live CSI variant price in September 2026, and the linked product pages are always authoritative where they differ. Families, candle loads, cure windows, flash points, IFRA statements and discolouration notes are quoted from the product pages as published — Woody Oud 6–10% for soy and 6–8% for paraffin with a 48–72 hour cure; Dark Vanilla Oud and White Royal Oud 6–10% of total wax weight with IFRA statements; Bergamot Amber 6–10% for soy with an 8% balanced midpoint; Afnan 9 PM inspired and Khamrah Qahwa 7–10% starting at 7% with candles capped at 10%, a flash point above 93°C and explicit discolouration warnings. Midnight Bakhoor Royale and Sultan’s Smoke publish note pyramids and positioning but no candle load, flash point or vanillin figure, and this page does not estimate one. Fragrance ceilings are the manufacturers' stated formulation maximums and nothing more; cure practice, test design, room sizes and retail prices used here are general practice or clearly illustrative.

Frequently asked questions

Which oud fragrance oil is best for candles in India?
For most makers, Woody Oud: the page publishes an Oriental / Woody / Exotic family, a 6–10% soy load, 6–8% for paraffin and a 48–72 hour cure, at ₹4.53/g or ₹72.50 of oil per 200 g candle at 8%. Step up to White Royal Oud at ₹8.10/g when you want a smokeless, modern profile for a gifting or flagship SKU.
What is the difference between white oud and dark oud in candles?
It is a difference of composition, not of grade. The White Royal Oud page describes bergamot and saffron over a white oud, rose and labdanum heart with a creamy sandalwood and ambergris base, and calls it oud depth without heavy smoke. The darker and smokier oils — Midnight Bakhoor Royale and Sultan’s Smoke — publish spiced incense, oud wood, smoky resin and balsamic bases. White reads as modern and gift-safe; smoky reads as traditional and divides a room.
How much oud fragrance oil goes into a 200 g candle?
At 8% of wax weight, 16 g. That is ₹72.50 of Woody Oud, ₹91.06 of Dark Vanilla Oud, ₹129.65 of White Royal Oud, ₹86.99 of Bergamot Amber or ₹240.90 of Khamrah Qahwa, at each oil's 1 kg rate. The ceiling is the lower of the wax grade's stated maximum and the oil page's stated range — with CSI 464 at up to 10% and these oils at 6–10% or 7–10%, that is 10%, or 20 g.
Do amber fragrance oils turn white candles yellow?
The warmest ones say they can. The Khamrah Qahwa page states significant browning is likely from its vanilla, coffee, cacao, benzoin and myrrh content; the Afnan 9 PM page states moderate-to-significant browning from vanilla and tonka; the Solar Bloom page states warm golden toning is possible. Woody Oud, Dark Vanilla Oud, White Royal Oud and Bergamot Amber do not publish a vanillin figure, so test a jar over 28 days rather than assuming. Yellowing is cosmetic and does not affect burn or throw.
Can I use a perfume-grade fragrance oil in candles?
Where the page says so, yes. Both CSI fine-fragrance pages used here publish a maximum usage table that lists candles at up to 10% and a recommended candle load of 7–10% starting at 7%, alongside much higher rates for perfumes. Start at the stated 7% — ₹210.78 of Khamrah Qahwa in a 200 g candle — because the pages themselves note that the concentration often means you need less. Never read a perfume percentage from the same table as a candle percentage.
What retail price does an oud candle need to work?
Depends entirely on the oil. On the premium build costed on this page — 200 g of CSI 468, an Eco C1 wick and a black glass jar — materials come to ₹315.40 with Woody Oud and ₹483.80 with Khamrah Qahwa, before labels, boxes, courier or your time. At ₹999.00 the fragrance line is about 7.3% of the price with the first oil and about 24.1% with the second. Perfume-grade oils need a higher ticket, not a bigger batch.
Test before the kilo
Four 15 gm bottles, four cured candles, then buy the one that won.
Woody Oud 15 gm ₹93.22 · Dark Vanilla Oud 15 gm ₹105.02 · White Royal Oud 15gm ₹130.00 · Bergamot Amber 15 gm ₹105.02 — ₹433.26 for the round, each pouring roughly one 200 g candle at 8%. The perfume-grade amber oils start at 50 g, so budget ₹648.00 and ₹753.00 if you want those in the comparison. GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation on request.
