Three things fall out of that table immediately. First, the soy range is tight. The five container grades a working brand would realistically choose between span ₹424.80 to ₹637.00 per kilo — a gap of ₹212.20, or about 50%. Grade choice matters, but it is not the difference between a viable business and a dead one; it is a positioning decision. Second, one product carries the entire true-bulk tier. Natural Soy Pearl Wax is the only soy grade on the store that ships in a 50kg pack, at ₹21,240.00. Everything else stops at 10kg, and Eco Soy CSI 400 stops at 5kg. If your volume has genuinely reached sack territory — and a thousand orders a month is roughly where that starts — then your grade shortlist narrows to one before you have compared a single specification.

Third, one grade is out of stock and we are not hiding it. Soy Wax 464 Pellets at ₹761.10/kg are unavailable on the pull date across all three pack sizes. That is worth noticing for a different reason: the pellets are the only 464-family product in the range that shows a conventional volume break, ₹761.10/kg at 1kg down to ₹743.40/kg at 5kg — and they are the one you cannot buy. Where the discount actually is

Here is the table nobody publishes. For each grade sold in packs of 5kg or more, it compares the entry per-kilo price with the best per-kilo price available, states exactly where the step happens, and converts it into money on a 10kg purchase. Negative numbers are savings. Positive numbers mean the bigger pack costs you more.

Why would a supplier price this way? Because soy wax at this scale is largely a pass-through material. The cost of the wax itself barely changes between a 1kg pack and a 10kg pack; what changes is the labour of splitting and packing, and on a flat-priced range that saving is already built into the shelf price rather than held back as a volume reward. It is a defensible way to price. It is also a reason to be sceptical of any Indian supplier whose quoted "wholesale rate" is dramatically below their retail rate — either the retail price was inflated to make the wholesale rate look generous, or the two are not the same material. Which pack you should actually buy

Once per-kilo price stops rewarding volume, the pack-size decision becomes a working-capital and warehousing question, and those have clean answers. Three tests, in order.

There is a fourth consideration that only applies to one grade. If you are on Natural Soy Pearl Wax and your volume supports it, the 50kg sack at ₹21,240.00 is the single largest absolute saving available in the soy range: ₹1,260.00 against fifty 1kg packs. But note what it is not. It is not a better per-kilo rate than the 5kg pack — it is the same ₹424.80. You are buying one freight event and one handling event instead of ten, and you are committing ₹21,240 of cash to a material you must now store properly for months. How to read any wholesale soy quote in India

You will be quoted by WhatsApp, by a trader in a market, by an Instagram account and by three websites, and the quotes will not be comparable until you force them into the same shape. Four things make a quote comparable. A quote missing any one of them is not cheap or expensive — it is simply unreadable, and you should ask again rather than guess.

Wax cost per candle at 184g and 135g

Per-kilo pricing is how wax is sold. Per-candle cost is how you actually decide. Below, every in-stock soy grade at its best available per-kilo price, converted to two fills: 184g, which is the wax in a 200g container candle poured at an 8% fragrance load, and 135g, which matches the 135g tin container in the CSI range. Wax only — no wick, no jar, no fragrance, no label.

The full spread at a 184g fill is ₹73.42 to ₹201.92 — a difference of ₹128.50 per candle between the cheapest and dearest soy in the range. But almost nobody is choosing between those two extremes.
