Candle Wick Supplier in India
Share
Is that a guarantee? No, and no supplier can honestly give you one. Wax type, fragrance load and dye all change how much wax a wick can pull. Every recommendation on this page is a place to start burn-testing, not a specification.
How do I test? Three identical jars, three wick sizes, poured the same day and cured the same number of days. You want a full melt pool reaching the glass in two to three hours, a steady flame, no soot and no mushrooming.
Should I buy the 61 m roll and cut my own? Only at real volume. The Braided Wick Roll comes with 100 wick tabs at ₹706.82 — that is ₹7.07 per tabbed wick, which is more than a ready-made C1 at ₹5.90. The roll only wins once you can tab the remaining metres yourself.
Wick size by jar diameter — where to start testing
Most sizing mistakes start at the same place: a maker asks which wick suits a 200 gram candle. Weight tells you almost nothing, because a 200 gram candle can be a tall narrow vessel or a wide shallow one, and those two need completely different wicks. The number that matters is the internal diameter where the melt pool will sit — measure across the inside of the opening with a steel rule, and if the jar tapers, measure the widest part the pool has to reach.
CSI lists containers by fill weight and capacity — 70 gram votives, 85 and 135 gram tins, 150 gram jars with lids, 200 ml salsa jars, 130 ml Yankee-style jars, 300 and 600 gram borosilicate — rather than by internal diameter, so measure the vessel that is actually on your bench. The container range runs from small votives through to wide apothecary jars, and the jar-by-jar breakdown belongs on its own page rather than this one.
| Internal diameter (measured) | Full pool area | Start testing with | Test it against | What usually goes wrong |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under 45 mm | up to 15.9 cm² | Eco Thin (C1), single | Cotton Braided ready-made | Over-wicking. A narrow vessel overheats fast and the glass gets too hot to hold. |
| 45–55 mm | 15.9–23.8 cm² | Eco Thin (C1), single | Eco Loose (2 inch) cut to length | Nothing much. This is the most forgiving band in the range. |
| 55–65 mm | 23.8–33.2 cm² | Buy both C1 and C2 and run them side by side | Each other | Guessing. This is the crossover band and the wax decides it, not the diameter. |
| 65–75 mm | 33.2–44.2 cm² | Eco Thick (C2), single | Two × C1 | Under-wicking, and then blaming the fragrance oil for weak throw. |
| 75–85 mm | 44.2–56.7 cm² | Eco Thick (C2), single, expecting to move to two | Two × C1 | Pushing a single wick too hard: soot, mushrooming, a hot spot in the middle. |
| 85–100 mm | 56.7–78.5 cm² | Two × Eco Thick (C2) | Three × C1 | Spacing. Wicks set too close merge into one flame and tunnel at the rim. |
| Over 100 mm | above 78.5 cm² | Multi-wick only — two or three C2 | Three × C2, respaced | Trying to solve it with one big wick. It cannot be done cleanly. |
The three-jar burn test, done properly
This is the only method that settles a wick question, and it takes one pour and one evening. The discipline is not in the burning — it is in making the three jars genuinely identical apart from the wick.
The CSI wick range, priced per wick and per metre
Seven wick products sit in the Candle Wicks collection. All prices below are CSI live pricing, September 2026, and the linked product page is always authoritative. The per-wick and per-metre columns are arithmetic on the listed price, not separate prices you can buy at.

| Candle Wick Stickers | ₹100.00 / sheet of 40 | ₹2.50 | Always. The cheapest insurance against a wick tab shifting mid-pour. The 100-sticker sheet is out of stock on this pull. |
| Large Wick Stickers (40 × 2 mm) | ₹249.00 / 40 | ₹6.23 | Wide-base tabs, heavier candles, or wicks that have lifted on you before. ₹3.73 more per candle than the standard sticker. |
| Bamboo Wick Holder | ₹118.00 / set of 5 | ₹23.60 | Standard jars. Less than half the price of the steel holder and it does not clamp the wick — which is what Lalitha Jagan's review above is describing. |
| Steel Wick Holder | ₹250.00 / 5 · ₹500.00 / 10 · ₹1,250.00 / 25 | ₹50.00 | Production runs where holders are handled all day. Flat ₹50 each at every pack size — no volume saving. |
| Wick Centering Device | ₹118.00 / pack of 5 | ₹23.60 | You are consistently getting off-centre wicks and lopsided pools. |
| Wick Setting Tool | ₹399.00 | ₹399.00 | You are placing tabs into deep or narrow jars in volume and want the tab pressed flat every time. |
| Wick Inserter, Steel Straw | ₹59.00 | ₹59.00 | Tall or narrow vessels. The cheapest tool on this list and the one that saves the most swearing. |
| Premium Candle Wicking Needle | ₹472.00 | ₹472.00 | Wicking moulds rather than jars — threading the wick through the base without damaging the mould or leaking wax, which is exactly what LJ's review above describes. |
| Candle Wick Cutter / Trimmer | ₹177.00 | ₹177.00 | You need a trimmer. There are three trimmer listings on the store at ₹177.00, ₹295.00 and ₹588.82 — for cutting a wick to 5 mm, the ₹177 one does the job. |
Format and cost — roll, pre-cut, pre-tabbed and wooden
This is the decision that looks like a saving and often is not. Buying wick by the roll is cheaper per metre by a very large margin, so cutting your own must be cheaper than buying finished wicks. The per-metre figure is real. The conclusion does not follow.
| Format | Best listed price | Cost per finished wick | What you also spend | Consistency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-tabbed, ready-made — Eco C1 | ₹5.90 at any pack size | ₹5.90 | Nothing. Open the pack, stick, pour. | Identical every time |
| Pre-tabbed, ready-made — Cotton Braided | ₹12.00 at any pack size | ₹12.00 | Nothing | Identical every time |
| Pre-cut length — Eco Loose, 10 m | ₹708.00 for 10 m | ₹7.08 of wick per 10 cm cut | Your cutting time, plus a tab you must source | Depends on your cutting |
| Bulk roll — 61 m + 100 tabs | ₹706.82 | ₹7.07 for the first 100 · ₹1.16 of wick material thereafter | Cutting and tabbing time; tabs beyond the 100 supplied | Depends on your tabbing |
Read the third column against the fourth. On the hundred tabs that ship with it, the roll costs ₹7.07 a wick against ₹5.90 for a ready-made Eco C1 — so for its first hundred wicks it is the more expensive option, not the cheaper one. Everything after that is where the saving lives: fifty-one metres of wick remain at ₹1.16 per 10 cm cut, which is a fifth of the price of a finished C1. But those metres are only wick. To turn them into candles you need tabs, and tabs are a separate sourcing problem you have just taken on.
There is one comparison here that settles the format question for anyone working with moulds. The 10 metre loose pack is ₹708.00. The 61 metre roll is ₹706.82. They cost within ₹1.18 of each other and one contains six times as much wick. If your work is pillar candles, tapers, designer moulds or anything else where the wick is threaded through the base rather than tabbed to it, the roll is the obvious buy and it is not close. If your work is tabbed container candles, the roll is a volume tool and not a beginner's economy.
Wooden wicks — when they are worth ₹35.40 more
A Performance Wooden Wick at its best tier costs ₹41.30 against ₹5.90 for an Eco C1. On a 150 gram candle that ₹35.40 is more than a fifth of your material cost, and it buys exactly one thing: a different product. Not a better burn, not a stronger throw — a different product, with a crackle, a wide flat flame and a look that reads as premium behind glass.
That is worth paying for when the customer is buying an object rather than a scent, when the candle is a gift or hamper item, or when your price point is high enough that ₹35.40 disappears into the margin. At ₹1,200 retail the wooden wick is 3% of the price and it changes the unboxing. At ₹350 it is 12%, and it comes out of your margin, not the customer's.
| What changes | Why | What you do about it |
|---|---|---|
| The wick must be re-tested from scratch | A flat wooden wick behaves nothing like a round cotton one. Your C2 result tells you nothing about which wooden wick to use. | Run the three-jar test again, with wooden wicks only. Budget a pack of 10 at ₹590 for the trial. |
| Securing the wick | A flat wick presents a different base to the jar and is less forgiving of a tab that has shifted during the pour. | Use a large wick sticker at ₹6.23 rather than the standard ₹2.50 sticker. |
| Holding it upright while the wax sets | A flat wick wants to lean along its own plane. | A bamboo wick holder at ₹23.60 holds without clamping; a centering device at ₹23.60 is the alternative. |
| Lighting behaviour | Wooden wicks take longer to establish than cotton and will go out if lit briefly and left. | Say so on the care card. Candle care stickers are ₹413 per 500 (₹0.83 each) — cheap enough that there is no excuse. |
| Trimming | Wooden wicks need the burnt edge taken back to a short stub before each relight or the flame drowns. | A trimmer at ₹177, and a line about it in your customer instructions. |
Why it matters that your wick supplier also sells you the wax
This is the argument that makes a wick supplier worth choosing rather than just worth buying from, and it is a testing argument, not a convenience one. Wick performance is not a property of the wick. It is a property of the wick-and-wax pair. The same Eco C2 opens a different pool in CSI 464 flakes than it does in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, in a coconut-soy blend or in beeswax. Add a fragrance load and a dye and you have a four-way interaction.
When wax and wick come from two suppliers, every batch that goes wrong is a two-variable problem. The wax lot changed, or the wick lot changed, or both, and you cannot tell which — so you re-test both, which is four combinations instead of two and a fortnight instead of a weekend. When they come from one supplier, you have one point of contact who can tell you whether anything moved, and when you do re-test, you re-test one variable. That is the whole of the argument, and it is worth more than any bulk discount on this page.
The practical version: settle your wax first, then wick to it, then hold both constant and change only fragrance. Choosing between soy grades is a separate decision. Comparing wax types altogether — soy against coconut-soy, beeswax and paraffin — sits in the raw material list. The economics of a full wholesale basket are in the wholesale guide. And if the vessel is not fixed, start in the container range — the jar sets the diameter and the diameter sets the wick, in that order, never the reverse.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. On a wick page the commercially convenient advice would be to sell you the biggest pack and the most expensive wick. We have done the opposite twice on this page: there is no per-wick discount on Eco Candle Wicks, Cotton Braided Wicks or Steel Wick Holders at any pack size, so buying 1,000 to "save money" saves nothing — and the 61 metre braided roll costs ₹7.07 per finished wick on the tabs it ships with, which is more than a ready-made C1 at ₹5.90.
Every price, pack size and per-unit figure on this page is taken from live CSI stock on 10 September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and specification always take precedence. Per-wick and per-metre columns are arithmetic on the listed variant price, not separate purchasable prices. The wick-size table gives starting points for burn testing, not specifications: CSI publishes container fill weights and capacities rather than internal diameters, so measure the vessel in front of you, and expect wax type, fragrance load and dye to move the answer.

If you tell us the wax you are using and the internal diameter you have measured, we can give you a narrower starting point than a public table can.

Calculated, not quoted: per-wick, per-metre and per-10-cm figures are arithmetic on the listed variant price and are not separately purchasable prices. Melt-pool areas are πr² on the stated internal diameters (40 mm = 12.6 cm², 50 mm = 19.6 cm², 60 mm = 28.3 cm², 70 mm = 38.5 cm²). The 150 gram candle example is 150 g of CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg (₹76.11), one Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid at ₹94.40, and one Eco C1 wick plus one standard sticker at ₹8.40, totalling ₹178.91; the wooden-wick version substitutes a ₹41.30 wick for ₹214.31.
Not measured, not claimed: the wick-size-by-diameter table gives starting points for burn testing. CSI publishes container fill weights and capacities rather than internal diameters, so measure your own vessel. Wax type, fragrance load and dye load all change wick performance, and no wick size on this page is a guarantee of a result in your recipe. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
