108 tins, favours and samples from one bag

100 g candles are bought by a different maker: someone filling tins for a sampler box, votives for a café, or a hundred favours for a wedding or a naming ceremony. At this size small errors multiply, because the same bag makes twice as many candles as it does at 200 g.

A few grams per tin adds up

The 108 figure assumes exactly 92 g of wax in every tin. Over-fill each by 5 g and 108 tins use 540 g more wax, which is five tins you can no longer pour. Under-fill and the tins look mean beside each other in a favour box. Pour to a weighed line, not by eye.

Wedding favour trap: The family says 100 favours, then adds guests the week before. Ask for the final count plus spares at the start. At 92 g of wax each, ten extra favours need 920 g, nearly a full kilogram.

At 100 g, the wick and oil matter more

The wax in a 100 g candle of CSI 464 is ₹46.68. An Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) wick is ₹5.90, a far larger share of the cost than it is in a big jar. Oil moves the cost too: each tin takes 8 g, so a 100 g bottle scents 12 tins whether it is Citrus Lemon at ₹300.00 or Dark Vanilla at ₹790.00. For 108 tins you need 864 g of oil, about nine 100 g bottles.

If you want the cheapest wax per tin, Eco Soy CSI 400 works out at ₹36.71 and Natural Soy Pearl Wax at ₹39.08, but neither publishes a fragrance load, so test before committing an event order to either.

Metal tins and heat

Tins conduct heat. A favour left in a hot car or on a sunny reception table in April or May can soften at the surface, and a strongly scented one can sweat. Store finished tins boxed in a cool room, and hand them over as close to the event as you can.
