CSI does not currently list any wick described as pre-tabbed, and this page will not pretend otherwise. What it does list is a braided cotton roll with 100 separate metal tabs, pre-cut wicks sold by count, wick stickers and setting tools. Here is how to turn those into a ready-to-pour tabbed wick, and what that costs.
₹9.57
per self-tabbed, stickered cotton wick using the 100 tabs of the ₹706.82 Braided Wick Roll (₹7.07 of roll + ₹2.50 wick sticker) · no CSI listing is described as pre-tabbed · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell pre-tabbed wicks? No CSI listing is described as pre-tabbed. The closest listings are Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made (pre-cut to 10.16 cm), Eco Candle Wicks (sold by count in Thin C1 and Thick C2) and the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs. None is described as pre-tabbed: the pre-cut pages describe no tab, and the roll's tabs are for fixing to the lengths you cut from it.

What does pre-tabbed mean? A wick cut to length, stiffened with wax, and crimped into a small metal base tab at the factory, so it can be stuck to a jar floor and poured around straight away.

Can I make my own? Yes. Cut from the 61 m roll, prime if the braid is raw, crimp on one of the 100 supplied tabs, then fix it with a wick sticker (₹100 for 40). That comes to about ₹9.57 a wick if the tabbed wicks are all you use the roll for.

Buying at volume? Ask on WhatsApp how a specific ready-made or eco wick is finished at the base before you order 500 or 1,000. Recurring pricing and GST invoicing are handled there too.
The short answer
Be precise about the gap: CSI lists tabs (100 with the braided roll; the wooden wick page says its pack contains wicks and wick tabs), but no listing sells a cotton wick described as pre-tabbed.
Self-tab in batches of 100: one roll, 100 tabs, three sheets of wick stickers and a few setting tools give you a production-ready wick for roughly ₹9.57 each before your time.
Confirm before you scale: for pre-cut wicks bought by the 500 or 1,000, check the base finish on WhatsApp, because it decides your setting method for every candle in the run.

Bar length is cost per wick with one sticker. The roll figure allocates the whole ₹706.82 to the 100 tabbed wicks. Only the roll row includes a tab you know you are getting; for the other three, confirm the base finish before you set up a production line around them.
Straight answer
Can I buy pre-tabbed candle wicks wholesale from CSI, and if not, what is the closest thing?
Not as a listing described that way: no CSI product title or description calls a wick pre-tabbed. The closest route to a ready-to-set tabbed wick is the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs at ₹706.82. You cut the braided cotton to length, prime it if it is raw, and crimp on one of the 100 small metal tabs the page lists. Fix each tab to the jar floor with a 10 mm wick sticker (₹100 for 40) and hold it upright with a Wick Setting Tool (₹399) or Steel Wick Holders (₹50 each). If the roll serves only those 100 wicks, each costs ₹9.57 with its sticker. The pre-cut options — Eco Candle Wicks at ₹5.90 (C1) or ₹9.44 (C2) and Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made at ₹12 — remove the cutting. But their pages do not describe a tab, so check the photos or ask on WhatsApp how the base is finished before ordering 500 or 1,000. Whatever you choose, test-burn the wick in your own jar first: a tab changes how a wick is set, not how it burns.
One line: no listing is described as pre-tabbed; self-tab from the 100-tab braided roll at about ₹9.57 a wick, or confirm the base finish of a pre-cut wick on WhatsApp before you order it by the thousand.
Building a tabbed-wick workflow? Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs at ₹706.82, Candle Wick Stickers at ₹100 for 40, and the magnetic Wick Setting Tool at ₹399 — the three pieces of a self-tabbing bench.

What CSI lists — and what it doesn't

A supplier page that answers "pre-tabbed" with a product it isn't would save you one search and cost you a production run.

Search the CSI wick range for a listing called pre-tabbed and you will not find one. There are wicks sold by count, wicks sold by the metre, a roll that comes with tabs, a wooden wick pack that states it contains tabs, and a set of tools for fixing and centring. For a production buyer, the useful question is not "is it pre-tabbed?". It is "which of these gets a straight, fixed, centred wick into my jar fastest, at a cost I can repeat?" The table answers that for each listing, using only what the pages state.

Every wick and wick-fixing listing that touches the pre-tabbed question
Listing Price What the page says about tabs Role in a tabbed-wick workflow
Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs ₹706.82 "100 Wick Tabs"; "small metal tabs" that "provide a stable base for the wick" and "simplify the process of centering and securing the wick" The only cotton listing where tabs are definitely in the box. You cut and crimp
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made ₹12 each None. "Ready made"; height 10.16 cm; for candles exceeding 8 cm Pre-cut. Confirm base finish before volume
Eco Candle Wicks ₹5.90 C1 · ₹9.44 C2 None. Sold by count; "natural fibers like cotton and paper" Pre-cut. Confirm base finish before volume
Performance Wooden Wicks | Imported ₹59 to ₹41.30 each "One Pack contains 10 wicks and wick tabs." Attachment not described Wooden, not cotton; tabs stated for the 10-pack
Candle Wick Stickers ₹100 / 40 "Adhere the sticker to the bottom of your wick before pouring"; 10 mm diameter; heat resistant Fixes a tab to the jar floor
Wick Setting Tool ₹399 Magnetic base and bar; "ideal for batch making" Holds the tabbed wick upright and central during the pour
The mistake: reading "ready made" as "pre-tabbed". "Ready made" on the cotton braided listing tells you the wick is cut to a length (10.16 cm). It does not tell you there is a metal tab crimped on the base. The same goes for Eco Candle Wicks sold by count. If your production plan depends on peel-stick-pour, find out before 1,000 wicks arrive: look at the product photos, and send a one-line WhatsApp message asking how the base is finished. It takes a minute, and the answer decides whether you need tabs, stickers, or a different setting method.
One stray phrase, explained
The Steel Wick Holder description suggests pairing it "with our pre-tabbed wicks". No separate listing is described as pre-tabbed, so treat that line as general guidance and ask on WhatsApp which specific wick it refers to before ordering on the strength of it.

What "pre-tabbed" actually means — and why production lines want it

A pre-tabbed wick is a finished component. The wick is cut to length, and usually coated in wax so it stands up on its own. Its base is threaded through the neck of a small metal disc, the wick tab, which is crimped tight. The tab does two jobs. It gives the wick a flat foot to stick to the jar floor, so the wick doesn't drift when hot wax flows around it. And its raised neck holds the last few millimetres of wick off the glass, which is why tabbed container wicks conventionally stop burning just short of the jar floor rather than on it.

Production lines want pre-tabbed wicks because they remove three bench tasks — cutting, priming and crimping — from every candle. What they do not remove is the sticker, the centring and the test burn. A pre-tabbed wick of the wrong size tunnels or soots exactly like an untabbed one. The tab solves a setting problem, not a sizing problem.

Who does which job
Pre-tabbed, self-tabbed and untabbed wicks, step by step
Step Pre-tabbed wick Self-tabbed from the CSI roll Untabbed pre-cut wick
Cut to length Supplier You — any length you want Supplier (fixed length)
Prime / stiffen Supplier, usually You, if the braid arrives raw (not stated on the page) Depends on the wick — ask
Crimp a tab Supplier You — 100 tabs supplied No tab: needs another way to fix the base
Fix to jar floor You — sticker You — sticker You — harder without a flat foot
Centre while pouring You — holder or setting tool You — holder or setting tool You — holder or setting tool
Size by test burn You You You

Read down the last three rows and the real difference becomes clear. Of the six steps, a pre-tabbed wick saves you three, and all three can be batched. Crimping 100 tabs is one sitting at a bench, not 100 separate interruptions to a pour. That is why self-tabbing is a genuine production option, not a hobby workaround — provided you do it in batches and keep the length consistent.

The closest options, card by card

Four listings do most of the work in a tabbed-wick workflow: the roll that brings the tabs, two pre-cut wick families, and the sticker that fixes any tab to glass. Each card states what the page says, what it doesn't, and the cost per wick you should carry into your candle costing.

Self-tab · tabs definitely included
Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs (61 m)
A long spool of braided cotton wick that the page says you cut "to the desired length for your specific candle container size", plus 100 small metal tabs. It is aimed at makers "who make candles frequently and need a larger supply of wick material". For tabbing, the limit is the tab count, not the braid: 100 container wicks at 12 cm use only 12 of the 61 metres. How to make the other 49 metres pay — mostly in pillar moulds, which need no tab — is worked through in the cotton wick wholesale guide.

Pre-cut by count · confirm base finish
Eco Candle Wicks — Thin (C1)
The lowest-cost pre-cut wick in the range, ₹5.90 a wick in every pack from 10 to 1,000. The Thick (C2) version is ₹9.44 a wick from 20 upwards (its 10-pack is sold out). The page describes natural fibres "like cotton and paper" that pair with soy, beeswax and other eco-friendly waxes, and gives no diameter guidance and no tab description. One CSI customer's review of it reads, in full, "Quality wick, works very well". Buy a 10-pack of each size first, burn-test, check how the base arrives, and only then order by the hundred.

Pre-cut braided · jars over 8 cm
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made
Pre-cut to a stated 10.16 cm and described for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm, with a thick braid meant for larger formats. The price is flat at ₹12 from 10 to 1,000. As with Eco Candle Wicks, the description says nothing about a base tab, so confirm the base finish before a 500 or 1,000 order. If it arrives untabbed, the 100 tabs from a braided roll will not stretch across a 500-jar run.

Fixing · the step no wick removes
Candle Wick Stickers (10 mm)
Whatever wick you choose, the tab still has to be stuck down. These are 10 mm round stickers that the page describes as heat resistant, "formulated to withstand the heat of melted wax without warping or peeling", applied to the bottom of the wick before pouring. The 40-sticker sheet is ₹100, so ₹2.50 a candle; the 100-sticker sheet (₹236) is currently sold out, so plan in sheets of 40. There is also a Large Candle Wick Stickers listing at ₹249 for 40, but its page gives conflicting sizes, so check before relying on it for a bigger tab.

Tabbing 100 wicks yourself: a bench workflow

A pre-tabbed wick is just a self-tabbed wick someone else made in a batch. Make yours in a batch too.

The workflow below turns one braided roll into 100 ready-to-set container wicks in a single session, then sets them in jars on pour day. It assumes a 12 cm cut, which suits a jar of about 10 cm plus room above the rim to handle and trim; change the length to suit your vessel. The only tools not sold by CSI are a ruler, sharp scissors or a cutter, and a pair of flat-nose pliers for crimping.

1
Set a length jig, then cut 100 lengthsMark 12 cm on the bench with tape and cut every wick against it, rather than measuring each one. Keep the offcut ends. A consistent length is what makes 100 self-tabbed wicks behave like a factory batch. 100 × 12 cm uses 12 m of the 61 m roll.
2
Prime the braid if it is rawThe roll's page does not say whether the braid is pre-waxed. If it bends limply, dip each length in melted wax for a few seconds, lift it out, pull it straight between two fingers and lay it flat on baking paper to harden. Primed wick threads through a tab more easily and stands upright in the jar.
3
Thread and crimp one tab per wickPush one end of each wick through the neck of a tab until it is flush with the base, then squeeze the neck firmly with pliers. Tug every wick once. A tab that slides off in your fingers will slide off when you centre the wick over hot wax.
4
Store the batch flat and labelledBundle the finished wicks in tens, label them with length and date, and keep them in a closed box away from heat. You now hold 100 production-ready tabbed wicks, and the remaining 49 m of braid for pillar moulds or a later batch.
5
On pour day: sticker, press, centrePeel a wick sticker onto each tab base and press the tab to the centre of a clean, dry jar floor. The steel wick inserter (₹59) lets you push the tab down firmly in narrow jars. Then fit a holder or the setting tool so the wick stands vertical.
6
Pour, cool undisturbed, then trimLeave holders in place until the wax has set, remove them, and trim the wick for the first burn. The Candle Wick Trimmer page suggests trimming to 1/4 inch before every burn — a good line to print on your care card.
The mistake: tabbing on pour day. Crimping tabs while wax is holding at pour temperature means every pause at the bench is a pause at the melter. Wax cools, pours become uneven, and your wicks get rushed. Tab the whole batch on a separate day, when nothing is hot. The pre-tabbed advantage is not that the tabs are made elsewhere; it is that they are made before the pour. You can have that advantage for free.
Keep the first 10 for testing
Before setting 100 jars, set 10 and burn two of them fully once cured. A tab that sits correctly, a wick that stays centred and a pool that reaches the glass cleanly are three separate passes. Only the last one is about the wick; the first two are about your workflow. For centring technique, see how to keep the wick straight when making candles.

What a ready-to-pour wick really costs

The fair comparison is not wick against wick. It is ready-to-pour wick against ready-to-pour wick: listed wick price, plus whatever tab you know you are getting, plus the sticker every route needs. The table uses the 40-sticker sheet at ₹2.50 a sticker, and shows the cash you would spend for a 100-candle run with three sheets.

Priced above: Eco Candle Wicks C1 ₹590/100, C2 ₹944/100 · Braided Wick Roll ₹706.82 ÷ 100 tabbed wicks = ₹7.07 · Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made ₹1,200/100 · Performance Wooden Wicks ₹4,130/100 · Candle Wick Stickers ₹100/40 = ₹2.50. Cash for 100 candles = 100-unit wick cost + 3 sticker sheets (₹300), e.g. ₹706.82 + ₹300 = ₹1,006.82.

The roll does not win on price per wick, and it doesn't need to. C1 is cheaper by ₹1.17 a wick, but you don't yet know how it arrives at the base or whether it suits your jar. The roll's case is certainty and flexibility. You know there is a tab. You choose the length. And if its remaining 49 metres go into pillar moulds, the share of the roll carried by each tabbed wick falls well below ₹7.07. The ready-made braided wick is the most expensive cotton route at ₹14.50. It earns that only if it arrives ready to stick and suits a jar over 8 cm, because then it removes all the bench work.

There is also a hidden cost the table cannot show: the price of finding out at volume. Order 1,000 pre-cut wicks assuming a tab, discover there is none, and you are either sourcing tabs mid-run or changing your setting method for 1,000 jars. A single WhatsApp message and a 10-pack test cost ₹59 to ₹120. Skipping them can cost you the week.

The CSI principle
A tab is a setting decision. Make it before you order, not after the wicks arrive.
Pre-tabbed, self-tabbed or untabbed, every wick still needs a sticker, a centre and a test burn. What changes is who does the crimping and when. Decide that on paper, confirm it with the supplier, and your pour day stays a pour day.
Need wicks by the 500 or 1,000 and want to know exactly how they arrive? Send the listing name and quantity on WhatsApp. Base-finish questions, recurring pricing and GST invoicing are all handled there.

Setting and centring at batch speed

Once a tab is stuck down, the wick has to stay vertical while the wax sets. The choice of holder decides how many jars you can pour and leave to cool at the same time, and that is a production question with a straightforward cost. The table prices 25 jars cooling at once, a realistic tray for a small production bench.

Holding tools · cost to keep 25 jars centred at once
What each tool states, and what a 25-jar tray costs
Tool Listed price What the page states For 25 jars at once Per jar position
Wick Centering Device ₹118 / pack of 5 Natural wood, 11.4 cm long, 4 mm hole; for openings under 4 inches; reusable 5 packs · ₹590 ₹23.60
Bamboo Wick Holder ₹118 / set of 5 Sustainable bamboo; holds the wick in place. No size stated 5 sets · ₹590 ₹23.60
Steel Wick Holder ₹250 / 5 · ₹500 / 10 · ₹1,250 / 25 Stainless steel; 3-hole layout for single, double or triple wicks; jars up to 9 cm wide Pack of 25 · ₹1,250 ₹50
Wick Setting Tool ₹399 each Magnetic base under the jar, bar on top; "compatible with most jar sizes"; "ideal for batch making" 25 tools · ₹9,975 ₹399

For a tray of 25, the wooden and bamboo holders are the economical fill, and the steel holders add multi-wick slots and a stated 9 cm fit. The magnetic setting tool is the precision instrument: one or two on the bench for the jars that matter most — a large vessel, a premium line, or the first jar of every batch that you use as your reference. One CSI customer notes the bamboo holder "doesn't exert any pressure on the wicks", a small thing that matters when a freshly crimped tab is only as secure as your pliers made it. The setting tool's own instructions begin with a drop of wick glue; CSI does not list wick glue, and a wick sticker does the same job of fixing the base.

The factory's advantage was never the tab. It was doing the tabbing before anyone lit the melter.

Five questions to ask before a volume wick order

Whichever supplier you use, a tabbed-wick order at 500 or 1,000 should come with five answers in writing. At CSI, all five can be asked in one WhatsApp message — include the listing name, size and quantity.

1
Is the base tabbed, and is the tab attached? This matters most for pre-cut wicks like Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made and Eco Candle Wicks, whose pages do not describe a tab. The answer decides your whole setting method.
2
Is the wick primed?Neither the roll nor the metre packs say. A primed wick saves a whole bench step at 1,000 units.
3
Is the length the same across the pack and across reorders?A stated length (10.16 cm on the ready-made braided wick) is what lets you standardise fill height across a range.
4
How many tabs come with larger packs? The wooden wick page states tabs for the 10-pack; the roll lists 100. Confirm counts before assuming they scale with a 50, 100 or second roll.
5
Can the order carry a GST invoice, and what is the price for a recurring quantity?Listed per-wick prices are the ceiling; recurring volumes are quoted separately on WhatsApp.

For the quantity maths behind those orders, see buying 500 candle wicks. For a production view of the whole wicking bench, see wick supply for candle manufacturers.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. This page answers a search for a product we do not list under that name. The easy move would have been to relabel a pre-cut wick as pre-tabbed. We haven't, because a buyer who plans a 1,000-jar run around a tab that isn't there loses a week, and that buyer does not reorder from us.

Every price, pack size and quoted phrase here comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and descriptions always take precedence. "Pre-tabbed" appears in no CSI product title or product description of a wick; the only tab counts stated are the roll's 100 and the wooden wick pack's "10 wicks and wick tabs". The 12 cm cut length and the 25-jar tray are planning assumptions, not specifications.

Frequently asked questions

Does CSI sell pre-tabbed candle wicks?
No CSI listing is described as pre-tabbed. The closest are the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs (₹706.82), which you cut and tab yourself, and two pre-cut wicks — Eco Candle Wicks (₹5.90 C1, ₹9.44 C2) and Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made (₹12) — whose pages do not describe a tab. Ask on WhatsApp how a specific wick's base is finished before ordering 500 or 1,000.
What is a pre-tabbed wick?
A wick that arrives cut to length, usually wax-primed, and crimped into a small metal base tab, ready to stick to a jar floor. The tab gives the wick a flat foot so it does not drift during the pour, and its neck keeps the last of the wick off the glass. Pre-tabbing saves the cutting, priming and crimping steps; it does not replace a sticker, centring or a test burn to confirm the wick size.
How do I attach a wick tab myself?
Cut the wick to a consistent length against a jig, prime it in melted wax if the braid is raw, push one end through the tab's neck until it is flush with the base, and squeeze the neck firmly with flat-nose pliers. Tug-test every wick. Do the whole batch on a day you are not pouring, then store the tabbed wicks flat and labelled. On pour day, add a wick sticker to each tab and centre it in the jar.
Can I use wick stickers without a wick tab?
The CSI wick sticker page says to adhere the sticker to the bottom of your wick before pouring. A flat metal tab gives the sticker a far larger, steadier surface than the end of a bare wick, so for container candles a tab plus a sticker is the dependable combination. For pillar candles poured in moulds, no tab or sticker is needed: the wick is threaded through the mould base with a wicking needle instead.
How much does it cost to tab 100 wicks yourself?
With the ₹706.82 Braided Wick Roll (100 tabs included) and three sheets of 40 wick stickers (₹300), cash for a 100-candle run is ₹1,006.82. If the roll serves only those 100 wicks, that is ₹9.57 per ready-to-pour wick. Using the leftover 49 m of braid in pillar moulds lowers each tabbed wick's share. Your bench time for cutting, priming and crimping comes on top.
Where can I buy wick tabs in bulk in India?
At CSI, tabs are stated in two places: 100 wick tabs with the Braided Wick Roll, and the Performance Wooden Wicks page, which says a pack "contains 10 wicks and wick tabs". CSI does not list loose wick tabs as a separate product. If you need tabs beyond the roll's 100 for a larger container run, ask on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 before planning around them.
