Best Fresh and Aquatic Fragrance Oils for Candles

Aquatic, green, herbal, spa and petrichor — the most under-stocked family in Indian candle ranges, and the only one with a clear seasonal logic in a country that spends more of the year hot than cold. Real CSI prices at 100g, 500g and 1kg, cost per 200g candle, and the soy technique these light oils actually need.
₹2,688
five-oil summer capsule at 100g each · ≈31 candles of 200g · CSI live pricing, August 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What are the best fresh and aquatic fragrance oils for candles? Blue Ocean (₹495/100g) for marine value, Freshwater BBW inspired (₹1,190/100g) for the premium marine, Cucumber Green Tea (₹353/100g) and Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹354/100g) for green and spa, Lemongrass and Lime (₹590/100g) for citrus-herbal, and Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) (₹896/100g) for petrichor.

What does a fresh candle cost to make? A 200g soy candle at an 8% load costs ₹209.56 with Citronella, ₹216.55 with Cucumber Green Tea and ₹242.60 with Blue Ocean, against a base of ₹163.30 for wax, wick and jar.

Why do fresh candles smell weaker? Light, volatile molecules. Run the load at the top of your wax ceiling, cure the full 14 days, size the wick for a melt pool that reaches the jar wall, and test coconut soy if it still reads thin.

Does CSI stock a fresh linen oil? No. There is no linen or clean-cotton accord in the range. The closest in stock are Cucumber Green Tea, Blue Ocean, Verbena and Gingham Heart of Gold BBW inspired.
The short answer
Buy: Blue Ocean, Cucumber Green Tea, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lemongrass and Lime, Gilli Mitti — 100g each, ₹2,688, roughly 31 candles of 200g.
Why this family: a range built only on oud, vanilla and spice has nothing seasonally correct to sell for about six months of an Indian year.
Then: run the load high, cure 14 days, wick for a full melt pool, and extend the same oils into room sprays and reed diffusers for the hot months.
Making a light oil perform in soy — the five fixes, in order of impact 1 — Run the load at the top of the wax ceiling · 13% Soy Chunks, 10% CSI 464 2 — Cure the full 14 days, lids on, out of sunlight 3 — Wick up until the melt pool reaches the jar wall 4 — Test coconut soy CSI 468 for a fuller release 5 — Sell the cold throw too — it is this family's strength
Fresh, green and aquatic oils are not weak oils. They are light molecules asked to do the same job as heavy ones, and every fix above adds more than swapping supplier will. Work down this list before you conclude an oil has failed.
Straight answer
Which fresh and aquatic fragrance oils should you actually buy?
Cover four sub-groups rather than four favourites. For aquatic and marine, Blue Ocean at ₹495 per 100g is the value pick and Freshwater BBW inspired at ₹1,190 is the premium one. For green and herbal, Cucumber Green Tea at ₹353 and Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹354 are the two cheapest fresh oils in the CSI range and the two most useful. For spa, Lavender at ₹540 and Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon at ₹799. And for the one fresh scent no imported catalogue can give you, Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) at ₹896 — first rain on dry earth, which sells itself in July without a single line of copy. A five-oil summer capsule at 100g each costs ₹2,688 and pours roughly 31 candles of 200g at an 8% load. Buy it for the calendar, not the taste test: this is the family that fills the March-to-September hole.
One line: Blue Ocean, Cucumber Green Tea, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lemongrass and Lime and Gilli Mitti at 100g each — ₹2,688, ≈31 candles, and six months of the Indian year finally covered.
Testing before you commit? Eucalyptus Spearmint starts at ₹68 for 15g — the cheapest trial size in the CSI fragrance range. Blue Ocean, Cucumber Green Tea, Verbena, Citronella and Gilli Mitti all ship in 15g too.

The six-month hole in most Indian candle ranges

A brand whose entire range is oud, vanilla and spice has nothing to sell between March and September. It does not have a marketing problem. It has a catalogue problem.

Look at almost any Indian candle brand's product page and the pattern is the same: sandalwood, oud, vanilla, coffee, cinnamon, a rose, a jasmine. Every one of those is a cold-weather, festive-season, gifting-season scent. They are also the scents that sell hardest in October and November, which is exactly why makers keep buying more of them and never notice the shape of the year they have built. Then February ends, the weather turns, and orders fall off a cliff for two quarters while the maker concludes that "candles are seasonal in India".

Candles are seasonal in India. The mistake is assuming the season is winter. Most of the country spends more of the year hot than cold, and a heavy amber-oud candle in a Chennai flat in May is not a product — it is a headache. What sells in those months is the thing that reads as cool, clean, wet or green: sea air, cucumber, mint, lemongrass, wet earth. That is one fragrance family, it is commercially the most under-served family in Indian candle ranges, and it is the cheapest one to enter, because the green and herbal oils are among the lowest-priced in the whole catalogue.

The commercial argument is simple. Adding three fresh oils at 100g costs under ₹1,500 and does not compete with a single scent you already stock — nobody who buys your oud in November is being cannibalised by a eucalyptus in May. It is pure incremental revenue in months that currently produce close to none. Compare that with adding a fourth vanilla, which competes directly with the three you already sell.

The stock-planning test
Write your range out against the twelve months of the year and mark which scent is the lead product for each. If eight or more months have the same three or four candidates, your catalogue is a winter catalogue wearing a year-round label.

The oils, sub-group by sub-group

All prices are CSI live pricing as of August 2026. Cost-per-candle figures assume a 200g finished candle at an 8% fragrance load — 16g of oil and 184g of wax — priced at the 1kg rate unless stated. The base cost of wax, wick and jar is ₹163.30 before any fragrance is added, using Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹5,999/10kg, an Eco Candle Wick Thin (C1) at ₹5.90, and an Amber Shiny Glass Jar at ₹47.20.

Aquatic and marine

The sub-group that photographs best and explains itself worst. Marine accords are built on airy, ozonic materials with a saline-mineral edge; customers recognise them instantly but rarely have words for them, which is why product copy for this group should describe a place rather than a note. These are also the oils that pair naturally with blue and clear glass and undyed white wax.

1
Aquatic · the value anchor
Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil
What it smells like: open sea air — ozonic and slightly saline over a clean, faintly musky base, with none of the sweetness that makes a summer candle feel heavy. Who buys it: men buying for themselves, which is a segment most Indian candle ranges never reach, plus anyone furnishing a first flat. Room and occasion: living room, bathroom and study; house-warmings, Father's Day, corporate desk gifting. At ₹4.96 per gram at 1kg it is the cheapest way to put a credible marine scent in a range.

2
Aquatic · the retail-recognisable
Freshwater Fragrance Oil (BBW Inspired)
What it smells like: the softer, brighter side of aquatic — cool water with a citrus-green lift and a clean woody dry-down, closer to a shower gel than to the sea. Who buys it: the customer who already knows the Bath & Body Works reference and is looking for it locally, which is a genuine search-driven demand in Indian metros. Room and occasion: bathroom, bedroom, guest room; hostess gifts and hamper fillers. It costs more than double Blue Ocean per gram, so price the candle accordingly rather than absorbing it. Browse the whole BBW inspired range if this is the customer you are targeting.

Aquatic · the designer reference
Best Acqua Di Gio Inspired Fragrance Oil
What it smells like: the archetypal marine-fougère — bergamot and citrus over a salty jasmine-and-rosemary heart with a dry mineral base. It is the reference point the entire aquatic category is measured against. Who buys it: the premium-gifting buyer, and the customer who wants a candle that smells like a fragrance rather than a home scent. Room and occasion: study, living room, hotel and boutique retail; groomsmen gifting and men's hampers. This is the most expensive oil in this guide at ₹14.12 per gram — it ships in 50g, 100g and 1kg only, with no 500g option, so plan the step from 100g straight to a kilogram.

Aquatic · cool spice
Rasasi Hawas Ice Inspired Fragrance Oil
What it smells like: aquatic freshness with an icy-spicy edge and a warmer amber-woody base than a straight marine — the bridge between this family and the oriental range you already stock. Who buys it: the Middle-Eastern-fragrance buyer who wants something wearable in June, which in India is a large and loyal segment. Room and occasion: living room and bedroom; Eid and summer wedding gifting, where a heavy oud would be too much in the heat. At ₹9.08 per gram it sits neatly between Blue Ocean and Freshwater, and it is the one aquatic here that will not feel thin next to a woody candle on the same shelf.

Green and herbal

The cheapest and most commercially useful sub-group in this entire guide. Green and herbal oils give you the crisp, leafy, slightly bitter character that reads as "clean" without smelling like a cleaning product, and four of the six below sit under ₹600 per 100g. If your budget for entering this family is ₹1,000, spend all of it here.

Green & herbal · full price ladder
Six green oils, what they smell like, and what each costs to pour
Oil Character & buyer 100g 500g 1kg Per 200g candle
Cucumber Green Tea Watery cucumber over soft green tea; the closest thing in range to a "clean" scent. Bathroom, bedroom, spa gifting ₹353 ₹1,664 ₹3,328 ₹53.25 oil · ₹216.55
Eucalyptus Spearmint Cooling camphorous eucalyptus with sweet mint lift; reads therapeutic. Bathroom, gym, sick-room, study ₹354 ₹1,652 ₹3,068 ₹49.09 oil · ₹212.39
Verbena Lemon-verbena: sharp citrus over a green herbal stem; the classic French soap note. Kitchen, bathroom, guest bath ₹590 ₹2,478 ₹4,720 ₹75.52 oil · ₹238.82
Lemongrass and Lime Bright lemongrass with a zesty lime top; the most legibly Indian of the green oils. Kitchen, dining, verandah ₹590 ₹2,600 ₹5,200 ₹83.20 oil · ₹246.50
Sage and Cedarwood Dry aromatic sage over clean cedar; green but grounded, the least sweet oil here. Study, office, men's gifting ₹696 ₹2,584 ₹6,868 ₹82.69 oil · ₹245.99
Citronella Sharp lemony grass; the outdoor and balcony scent, and a monsoon-evening staple. Verandah, terrace, garden ₹767 ₹1,475 ₹2,891 ₹46.26 oil · ₹209.56
Two pricing quirks in this table worth acting on. First, Citronella costs ₹7.67 per gram at 100g but ₹2.95 per gram at 500g — the steepest size break in the CSI range. If citronella is going into your outdoor line at all, buy 500g and never buy 100g. Second, Sage and Cedarwood is cheaper per gram at 500g (₹5.17) than at 1kg (₹6.87), so for a kilogram of it, two 500g packs cost ₹5,168 against ₹6,868 for the 1kg listing. Always check the per-gram maths rather than assuming the largest pack wins.

Clean and linen-adjacent — what CSI does and does not stock

There is no fresh linen, clean cotton or laundry-accord fragrance oil in the CSI range. That is worth saying plainly, because "fresh linen" is one of the most searched candle scents in the world and it would be easy to relabel something adjacent and let you find out after the pour. We would rather point you at the closest real matches and let you judge.

A linen accord is usually three things stitched together: an airy-ozonic top, a soapy-aldehydic middle, and a clean musk base. CSI stocks materials that deliver two of those three, just never all at once. The honest shortlist, in order of how close each gets:

1
Cucumber Green Tea — ₹353/100gThe closest single oil. Watery, soft and soap-adjacent, it reads as "just cleaned" to most customers, and it is the one we would sell as the clean-fresh candle in a range that lacks a linen note.
2
Blue Ocean — ₹495/100gSupplies the airy-ozonic half of a linen accord convincingly. What it does not have is the soapy-powdery middle, so it reads as sea rather than laundry.
3
Verbena — ₹590/100gThe soap side without the airiness. Lemon verbena is the classic hand-soap and hotel-bathroom note, and it lands closer to "clean" than any citrus in the range.
4
Gingham Heart of Gold BBW inspired — ₹1,099/100gThe nearest retail-style clean-fresh accord CSI carries, bright and slightly fruity-floral rather than strictly laundry. At ₹172.80 of oil per 200g candle it is a premium-tier decision, not a default. Butterfly BBW inspired at ₹1,198/100g is the other option in that shelf.
If linen is what you actually need
A linen scent sells far better as a spray than as a candle, because the use case is fabric, not ambience. CSI stocks a Room & Linen Spray Base (500g) at ₹999 and 50ml room spray bottles at ₹42 — pair either with Cucumber Green Tea or Verbena and you have a linen spray without pretending you have a linen candle.

Spa and wellness

The sub-group with the clearest customer and the highest repeat rate. Spa scents sell on function — sleep, calm, focus, recovery — which means the customer has a reason to finish the candle and buy another, rather than keeping it unlit as decor. This is also the group that sells year-round rather than seasonally, so it is the safest place to spend if you want one fresh-family oil that never sits idle.

Spa & wellness · full price ladder
Five spa oils, their room fit, and cost per 200g candle
Oil Character, buyer & room 100g 500g 1kg Per 200g candle
Lavender The default sleep scent; herbal-floral and gift-safe across every age group. Bedroom, nursery, sleep sets ₹540 ₹2,620 ₹5,221 ₹83.54 oil · ₹246.84
Eucalyptus Spearmint Clearing and camphorous; the recovery and focus scent. Bathroom, gym, home office, monsoon-cold season ₹354 ₹1,652 ₹3,068 ₹49.09 oil · ₹212.39
Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon Creamy coconut under white jasmine; the resort-spa scent, warm but not sweet. Bathroom, massage and treatment rooms ₹799 ₹3,999 ₹7,999 ₹127.98 oil · ₹291.28
Ylang Ylang Flower Rich narcotic floral with a green banana-like facet; the classic aromatherapy relaxant. Bedroom, treatment room ₹590 ₹2,714 ₹5,310 ₹84.96 oil · ₹248.26
Palo Santo Dry sacred wood with a resinous citrus lift; the meditation and clearing scent. Study, yoga room, entryway ₹602 ₹3,009 ₹6,018 ₹96.29 oil · ₹259.59

Two of these sit at the edge of the family rather than inside it. Ylang Ylang is structurally a floral and Palo Santo is structurally a wood, but both are bought for the same wellness reason and both behave better than their families suggest — heavier molecules, easier hot throw. If you want a spa range where one candle is guaranteed to carry across a large room, make it one of those two.

Petrichor: Gilli Mitti and the smell of first rain

Every fragrance family guide written for a Western market ends at aquatic. India has one more, and it is the only fresh scent in this guide that no imported catalogue can sell you: the smell of the first rain hitting dry earth. In Uttar Pradesh it is distilled into mitti attar; everywhere else it is simply the thing everyone in the country notices on the same afternoon in June or July, without anyone having to point it out.

5
Petrichor · the monsoon scent
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) Fragrance Oil
What it smells like: wet earth — mineral, dusty and faintly sweet, with patchouli giving it the damp, mossy, slightly camphorous depth that stops it reading as a simple soil note. It is fresh in feeling but not light in structure, which is exactly why it performs better in soy than most of this guide. Who buys it: the customer who wants something recognisably Indian and is bored of jasmine and sandalwood, plus the entire diaspora gifting market, where nothing lands harder. Room and occasion: living room, entryway and study; monsoon-season launches, Independence Day and Onam gifting, hotel lobbies wanting a scent with a location. Seasonal note: this is a scent with a calendar. It should launch in June, peak through the monsoon, and be photographed against rain, not sun.

₹143.36 fragrance · ₹306.66 total per 200g candle Buy Gilli Mitti

Gilli Mitti is flat-priced at ₹8.96 per gram across 50g, 100g, 500g and 1kg, so there is no volume saving to chase — buy the size that matches the run you are actually pouring. At ₹306.66 in materials for a 200g candle it belongs in a premium tier priced around ₹899 rather than in an entry line, and it earns that price because it is the one scent in your range a customer cannot buy from an international brand.

The CSI principle
A candle range should be built against the calendar, not against the founder's nose.
Oud and vanilla sell October to February. Fresh, green and aquatic sell March to September, and petrichor sells for the eight weeks of monsoon that nothing else can touch. Three fresh oils at 100g cost under ₹1,500 and cover the half of the year your festive range cannot.

Making light oils perform in soy — the family's whole challenge

This is the section that decides whether your fresh range works. Every oil above is built on light, volatile molecules — citrus terpenes, ozonic marine materials, mint and eucalyptus aromatics, green leaf notes. Those are the first things you smell in the bottle and the first things to leave the wax. Compare that with a vanilla or an oud, where the heavy molecules that carry the scent are also the ones that survive heat and time. It is not that fresh oils are weaker products. It is that they are lighter molecules asked to do an identical job, and they need the process run properly rather than approximately.

If a fresh candle disappoints, work down these five in order before you change supplier. Four of the five cost nothing.

1
Run at the top of the load rangeUp to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and up to 10% for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. For this family the upper end is the sensible default, not the aggressive choice. Never go past the ceiling stated on your wax — see the fragrance load guide by family for how the ceilings differ.
2
Cure the full 14 daysLids on, room temperature, out of sunlight. Fresh oils are the family most often rejected at 48 hours by a maker who has not waited. The binding between oil and wax is not finished until roughly the two-week mark, and a fresh candle judged early is being judged before it exists.
3
Size the wick for a full melt poolThe melt pool is the evaporating surface. A small, cool pool releases very little of a light note, which is why the same oil reads strong in a well-wicked jar and absent in an under-wicked one. Wick to the jar wall with Eco Candle Wicks, stepping from Thin (C1) to Thick (C2) if the pool stalls, and read the weak throw diagnosis guide before blaming the oil.
4
Add the oil at the right temperature, and stirToo hot and you flash the top notes off before the candle exists; too cool and the oil never binds properly and later separates. Eco Soy CSI 400 specifies 80–90°C with a full two minutes of stirring, and CSI 464 melts and pours at 80–90°C. This is where most citrus and marine throw is lost — see why citrus fragrances fade and how to fix it.
5
Test coconut soy for a fuller releasePremium Coconut Soy CSI 468 from ₹325/500g gives a softer, rounder release that suits light molecules better than straight soy does. If a fresh candle is still thin after the four fixes above, this is the one that costs money and is worth it — which fragrance families perform best in coconut soy covers the comparison properly.

The two upsides nobody mentions

Discolouration risk is the lowest of any family. Wax yellowing is driven mainly by vanillin and by dark resinous, spice and heavy-oud materials, and fresh, green, aquatic and spa accords carry very little of either. That makes this the safest family for undyed white soy in clear frosted glass or a white matte jar, where a vanilla would turn the wax cream within weeks. If your brand identity is clean white wax in clear glass, this family will not fight it — the discolouration guide has the full ranking.

Cold throw is generally this family's strength. The same volatility that costs you hot throw is what makes an unlit fresh candle read clearly through the jar — the light molecules leave the wax surface at room temperature far more readily than a heavy gourmand does. That matters commercially at markets, pop-ups and in retail, where most customers judge a candle with the lid off and the wick unlit. Merchandise accordingly, and read the cold throw guide for how to test it properly.

Wax compatibility

Every oil in this guide is formulated for candle applications and works across the CSI soy range. The wax sets your load ceiling, and the ceiling matters more here than in any other family.

Wax selection · fresh, green and aquatic oils
Match the wax to the candle you are making
Wax Best for with this family Load From
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks The default. The 13% ceiling gives you the most headroom of any CSI wax, which is exactly what light oils need Up to 13% ₹299 / 500g
Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 The upgrade for this family; softer, fuller release of light molecules and a cleaner white finish Standard ₹325 / 500g
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes) Single-pour containers with low frosting and strong glass adhesion — useful when the jar is clear and every flaw shows Up to 10% ₹260 / 500g
Eco Soy CSI 400 Beginners and small test batches; one-pour, no additives, fragrance in at 80–90°C with two minutes of stirring Standard ₹399 / 1kg
Soy Pillar Wax Pillars and moulded shapes — shells, waves and botanical moulds suit this family's visual language Standard ₹300 / 500g
Do not fix a light oil by overloading the wax. Past the stated ceiling the oil stops dissolving and starts sitting in the wax: the candle sweats, the pool goes greasy, the flame misbehaves, and the throw usually gets worse, not better. If 13% in Luxury Soy Chunks has not given you the candle you want, the answer is the wick, the cure or the wax — not another percent of oil.
A fresh oil does not fail in soy. It gets judged at 48 hours, in an under-wicked jar, at a load meant for vanilla.

Rooms, seasons and formats — how to actually sell this family

Fresh scents sell on place and function, not on mood. A customer buying vanilla is buying a feeling; a customer buying eucalyptus is buying a bathroom that smells right. That changes how you write the listing, how you photograph it, and where you put it in a gift set.

Room mapping
Which oil goes in which room, and why the customer buys it
Room Lead oils The buying reason
Kitchen Lemongrass and Lime, Verbena, Citronella Cutting cooking smells. The single most under-served room in Indian home fragrance and the easiest repeat purchase in the category
Bathroom Cucumber Green Tea, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Freshwater Reads as clean and freshly cleaned. Small room, so even a modest throw performs, which makes it forgiving for this family
Office / study Sage and Cedarwood, Palo Santo, Blue Ocean Non-distracting and not sweet. Corporate desk gifting lives here, and the not-sweet requirement rules out most of a festive range
Gym / home workout Eucalyptus Spearmint, Citronella Cooling and deodorising. Sells well as a 70g votive or a tin rather than as a 200g jar
Bedroom Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon Sleep and wind-down. The highest repeat-purchase room in the whole range because the candle actually gets burnt
Verandah / terrace Citronella, Lemongrass and Lime Outdoor evenings through the monsoon and after. Pour in tins or larger jars — outdoor air needs more candle

The season. Launch the fresh capsule in late February or early March, just as the festive range goes quiet, and run it hard through May. Then re-cut the same oils as a monsoon story in June: Gilli Mitti leads, Eucalyptus Spearmint supports as the damp-weather clearing scent, and Citronella carries the outdoor-evening line. That is two distinct launches from one fragrance order, in a stretch of the year when most Indian candle brands post nothing at all.

Formats — where this family really earns its keep

Here is the harder truth about Indian summer: lighting a candle in a 38-degree room is a genuine ask, however good the scent is. Fresh oils are also the natural home of the two formats that do not need a flame, and both use the same fragrance oil you have already bought.

1
Room and linen spraysThe fastest-selling summer format and the lowest cost of entry. A Room & Linen Spray Base (500g) at ₹999 plus 50ml bottles with golden spray at ₹42 each turns a fresh oil into a product that gets used daily rather than on occasions. Browse the whole room spray base and accessories range.
2
Reed diffusersThe flameless answer to a hot-season candle slump, and a higher-ticket item than a spray. Start with Pure Performance Reed Base (500ml) at ₹1,099, add fibre reeds from ₹265 per 25 and gold diffuser bottles from ₹826 per 10. The full reed diffuser base collection includes bases tuned for lift, longevity and depth.

Smaller candle formatsIf it must be a candle, make it a small one. 70g votives and 85g tins burn out before the room gets warm and price low enough to be an impulse buy. Same oil, a third of the wax, and a far easier summer sell than a 300g jar.
The margin logic: a 200g Cucumber Green Tea candle costs ₹216.55 in materials and should retail around ₹649–₹699 at the 30–35% materials rule. The same oil in a 50ml room spray costs a fraction of that and sells year-round. The oil order does not change; the number of products it feeds does.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We have no reason to push you toward the expensive end of this family — the two oils we recommend hardest here, Cucumber Green Tea and Eucalyptus Spearmint, are among the cheapest fragrance oils we stock. It is also why this guide says plainly that there is no fresh linen oil in the range rather than pointing you at something adjacent and letting you discover the gap after a pour.

Every price, size and product link is taken from live CSI stock in August 2026 and links straight to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Cost-per-candle figures are calculated from a stated base of ₹163.30 for wax, wick and jar, so you can substitute your own vessel and redo the arithmetic in one line.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best fresh and aquatic fragrance oils for candles in India?
For aquatic and marine, Blue Ocean at ₹495 per 100g is the value pick and Freshwater BBW inspired at ₹1,190 per 100g is the premium one. For green and herbal, Cucumber Green Tea at ₹353 and Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹354 per 100g are the two cheapest fresh oils CSI stocks. For spa, Lavender at ₹540 and Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon at ₹799 per 100g. For a distinctly Indian fresh scent, Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) at ₹896 per 100g reads as first rain on dry earth. A five-oil summer capsule at 100g each — Blue Ocean, Cucumber Green Tea, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lemongrass and Lime, Gilli Mitti — costs ₹2,688 and pours roughly 31 candles of 200g at an 8% load.
Why do fresh and aquatic candles smell weaker than vanilla or oud candles?
Because the molecules are lighter and more volatile. Fresh, green and marine accords are built on top notes that evaporate first, so they flash off at high pour temperatures and release less from a small, cool melt pool than a heavy vanilla or oud does. The fix is technique, not a different oil: run the load at the top of your wax ceiling, cure the full 14 days with lids on, and size the wick so the melt pool reaches the jar wall. Coconut soy releases light notes more fully than straight soy and is worth testing if a fresh candle still reads thin.
Does CSI sell a fresh linen or clean cotton fragrance oil?
No. There is no fresh linen, clean cotton or laundry-accord oil in the CSI range, and it is worth saying plainly rather than selling you something adjacent under the wrong name. The closest matches in stock are Cucumber Green Tea, which reads clean, watery and soap-adjacent; Blue Ocean, which gives the airy marine half of a linen accord; Verbena, which gives the citrus-herbal soap character; and Gingham Heart of Gold BBW inspired, which is the closest thing to a bright clean-fresh retail accord. For actual linen spray, CSI stocks a Room and Linen Spray Base at ₹999 per 500g.
What fragrance load should fresh and aquatic oils run at in soy wax?
At the top of the range your wax allows, which is up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and up to 10% for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. This family is the one case where the upper end of the load range is the sensible default rather than the aggressive choice, because the light molecules simply release less per gram than a heavy gourmand does. Never exceed the ceiling stated on the wax — past that point the oil sits in the wax rather than dissolving in it, and the candle sweats, pools badly and reads weaker, not stronger.
Are fresh fragrance oils safe for white wax and clear glass jars?
This is the family's biggest advantage. Discolouration in candles is driven mainly by vanillin and by dark resinous and spice materials, and fresh, green, aquatic and spa accords carry very little of either. That makes them the safest fragrance family for undyed white soy in clear or frosted glass, where a vanilla or a heavy oud would turn the wax cream or brown over a few weeks. If your brand identity is clean white wax in clear glass, this is the family that will not fight it.
What should an Indian candle brand sell between March and September?
Fresh, green, aquatic and spa scents in smaller, cooler-looking formats, plus non-candle formats. India spends more of the year hot than cold, so a range built entirely on oud, vanilla and spice has nothing seasonally correct to sell for roughly six months. Add three fresh oils, put them in clear or frosted glass, and extend the same oils into room sprays and reed diffusers — both sell through the hot months when a lit candle is a hard ask, and both use the fragrance you have already bought.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team. Product recommendations reflect the CSI range; the sub-group framework, cost-per-candle maths and technique advice apply to any supplier. Where CSI does not stock a scent type — notably fresh linen and clean cotton accords — this guide says so rather than substituting an approximation.

Figures verified August 2026: All fragrance oil prices are live CSI pricing across the sizes each oil is stocked in; Best Acqua Di Gio inspired and Rasasi Hawas Ice inspired are stocked in 50g, 100g and 1kg only. Cost-per-candle assumes a 200g finished candle at an 8% fragrance load (16g oil, 184g wax), Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹5,999/10kg (₹110.20 for 184g), Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹590 per 100 (₹5.90 each), and an Amber Shiny Glass Jar at ₹236 per pack of 5 (₹47.20 each) — a base of ₹163.30 before fragrance. Oil cost per candle is quoted at 1kg pricing except Sage and Cedarwood, quoted at its cheaper 500g per-gram rate. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated to a 13% fragrance load and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 to 10%; always work to the ceiling stated on the wax you buy. Eco Soy CSI 400 specifies fragrance addition at 80–90°C with two minutes of stirring. Cure times of 14–21 days reflect standard practice for soy container candles.
