₹20,000 · Three Fragrances
Wax, jars and wicks are shared, so buy them once for all 54 candles. Only the oil differs by scent — and Dark Vanilla costs about twice Roasted Coffee per gram — so split the fragrance money by candles, not by rupees.
₹64.00
the whole per-candle cost gap between the vanilla and coffee candles — all of it oil · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How should I divide ₹20,000? Tools ₹1,239.00, testing ₹330.40, wax ₹6,289.00, oils ₹5,160.00, jars ₹3,894.00, wicks and stickers ₹495.00, reserve ₹2,592.60. See the full table.

How many candles of each scent? 18 vanilla, 18 coffee, 18 lavender — 54 in all, two of each scent used as test candles.

Equal money per fragrance? No. Equal rupees gives 25 coffee but only 13 vanilla candles. Split by candles and accept that vanilla's oil costs ₹1,200.00 more.

What waits for the test? The production wick pack — ₹295.00 for Eco Thin C1 50, or ₹472.00 for Thick C2 50. Everything else is shared, so buy it now.
The short answer
Answer: Buy tools, a six-candle wick test, 2 × 5 kg + 1 × 500 g of Chunks and 55 White Matte jars once; split the fragrance line as 300 g of each oil. CSI total ₹17,407.40, reserve ₹2,592.60.
Why: Vanilla oil is ₹7.90/g, coffee ₹3.90/g, lavender ₹5.40/g at 100 g. Equal candles per scent costs different rupees — the honest way to launch.
Count: 54 candles at 200 g (illustrative fill) and 8%: jars and oils both bind at 54; the wax would fill 55.
Same jar, same wax, same wick — three different candle costs Material cost of one 200 g candle at 8% (illustrative fill) · Chunks · White Matte jar · Eco Thin C1 · oils at 100 g prices Jar ₹70.80 Wax ₹110.21 Oil ₹126.40 ₹315.81 Vanilla (Dark Vanilla) ₹7.90/g · 18 candles · 3 × 100 g Jar ₹70.80 Wax ₹110.21 Oil ₹62.40 ₹251.81 Coffee (Roasted Coffee) ₹3.90/g · 18 candles · 3 × 100 g Jar ₹70.80 Wax ₹110.21 Oil ₹86.40 ₹275.81 Lavender ₹5.40/g · 18 candles · 3 × 100 g Only the dark block changes Equal candles per scent costs ₹1,200.00 more for vanilla than coffee — that gap, not the wax, is what a three-fragrance budget must plan for.
One 200 g candle (illustrative fill) at 8% in each scent. The jar, wick, sticker and wax blocks are identical; only the oil block changes, from ₹62.40 for coffee to ₹126.40 for vanilla at 100 g prices. Costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST.
Straight answer
I have ₹20,000 and want to launch vanilla, coffee and lavender candles — how should I divide the budget between wax, fragrance oils, jars, wicks and testing materials?
Buy the shared materials once for every candle, and split only the fragrance line — by candles, not by rupees. On ₹20,000 that is tools (₹1,239.00), a six-candle wick test (₹330.40), 2 × 5 kg + 1 × 500 g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (₹6,289.00), 55 White Matte jars (₹3,894.00), 300 g each of Dark Vanilla (₹2,370.00), Roasted Coffee (₹1,170.00) and Lavender (₹1,620.00), and the winning wick plus stickers after the test. CSI total ₹17,407.40; ₹2,592.60 stays as a reserve. It makes 54 candles, 18 of each scent. Vanilla costs ₹64.00 more per candle than coffee — all of it oil — so equal rupees per scent would leave you with far fewer vanilla candles.
One line: shared materials once, oil split by candles, reserve for the reorder that tells you which scent to back.
The ₹20,000 plan here makes 54 finished 200 g candles — 18 vanilla, 18 coffee and 18 lavender — from ₹17,407.40 of CSI materials, and keeps ₹2,592.60 as a testing and reorder reserve. The line that moves most between the three scents is the oil: Dark Vanilla is ₹7.90 a gram at 100 g, Roasted Coffee ₹3.90.

The ₹20,000 split for vanilla, coffee and lavender

Three fragrances, one wax, one jar, one wick. Only one line in the budget behaves differently for each scent.

When you launch three named fragrances, the temptation is to divide the money into three equal piles and buy a little of everything in each. That duplicates wax, jars and wicks that every scent shares, and it hides the one real difference between your three candles: what the oil costs. The plan below buys the shared materials once, for the total candle count, and splits only the fragrance line by scent. Every price is a listed, in-stock CSI pack, and the lines close exactly on ₹20,000 with a labelled reserve.

By group: tools ₹1,239.00, testing ₹330.40, wax ₹6,289.00, fragrance ₹5,160.00, jars ₹3,894.00, production wicks and stickers ₹495.00, reserve ₹2,592.60. The fragrance line is 25.8% of the budget, and inside it vanilla alone is ₹2,370.00 — more than coffee and lavender's ₹1,170.00 and ₹1,620.00 would suggest if you had assumed all oils cost about the same. The example uses Dark Vanilla for vanilla (position 4 in CSI's best-selling sort), Roasted Coffee for coffee (position 3) and Lavender (position 1). CSI also lists Vanilla Bean at the same price as Dark Vanilla; which vanilla you launch is your call.

The jar is the White Matte Glass Jar at ₹70.80 each. CSI does not publish its fill weight, so the 200 g candle used throughout is an illustrative fill: weigh one test pour to the line you want before you trust any figure below. If your jar holds 180 g, every candle count rises and every oil line falls slightly — the actual-wax-weight post shows the recalculation.

Three ways to divide the fragrance money

Equal rupees per scent and equal candles per scent are not the same plan when one oil costs twice another.

With ₹5,160.00 for fragrance, there are three sensible ways to divide it. Each one is shown with real CSI packs, the grams it buys and the candles those grams make at 16 g per candle plus 3% pour loss.

Fragrance line only · 200 g candle at 8% · 3% pour loss · packs up to 500 g
Equal rupees, equal candles, or a lead scent
Method Vanilla (Dark Vanilla) Coffee (Roasted Coffee) Lavender Oil ₹ Candles
A · Equal rupees (₹1,720.00 each) 2 × 100 g + 1 × 15 g · 13 candles 4 × 100 g + 1 × 15 g · 25 candles 3 × 100 g · 18 candles ₹4,983.22 56
B · Equal candles (this plan) 3 × 100 g · 18 candles 3 × 100 g · 18 candles 3 × 100 g · 18 candles ₹5,160.00 54
C · Lead scent, your choice (example: lavender) 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g · 15 candles 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g · 15 candles 4 × 100 g · 24 candles ₹5,160.00 54

Method A looks fair on paper and is the one most people reach for. In practice it gives you 25 coffee candles and only 13 vanilla — 56 in all, more than the 55 jars can hold — so the stock levels are decided by the price list, not by you, and some coffee oil sits idle. Method B, the one this plan uses, gives every scent the same 18 candles and lets the fragrance cost differ: you pay ₹1,200.00 more for the vanilla shelf than the coffee shelf, and you know exactly why. Method C is for a reader who has a reason — a market, a gift order, a café client — to lead with one scent. Lavender is only the example; choose your own lead, and note that even then the jars and wax do not change, because the candle count is the same 54.

The CSI principle
Split the fragrance by candles, not by rupees. Buy everything else once, for the total.
Equal candles per scent is the neutral launch. Reorders — paid for out of the reserve — are where the scents that move earn more stock.

Nothing on this page says which of the three will sell best. CSI publishes no sales data beyond the order its collection sorts in, and a launch with equal stock is the only way to find out for your own customers. The ₹75,000 post is about what to do once you know: whether to put the next money into bigger packs or keep it for reordering the scents that proved themselves.

The bill of materials, scent by scent

Each 200 g candle at a working 8% is 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks' product page states a maximum fragrance load of 13%, so 8% sits well inside it and leaves room to test higher if you decide to. The allowance stack runs in the series' fixed order: test candles counted as whole candles, then pour loss on wax and oil only, then breakage on glass only, then rounding up to real packs.

Allowance stack · 6 test candles, 3% pour loss and 1 spare jar are labelled working assumptions

Leftover 265.9 g 3.36 g 3.36 g 3.36 g 1 spare jar 26 wicks

The wax rounding has a quirk worth knowing. Chunks are listed at ₹299.00 for 500 g — ₹598.00 a kilo — which is a rupee a kilo cheaper than the 1 kg and 5 kg bags. Twenty-one 500 g bags would cover the need for ₹6,279.00; two 5 kg bags and one 500 g bag cost ₹6,289.00. The plan takes the three-bag option and pays ₹10.00 for not handling twenty-one bags. The 10 kg bag (₹5,999.00) would cost more than two 5 kg bags (₹5,990.00), so it never wins here.

The oil rounding is tidier: 296.64 g per scent rounds to three 100 g bottles, leaving 3.36 g of each. On all three oils the 100 g bottle costs the same per gram as the 50 g or very close to it, while the 15 g carries the premium — Dark Vanilla is ₹8.67 a gram at 15 g against ₹7.90 at 100 g. Three 100 g bottles are both the cheapest way to buy 300 g and the easiest to keep track of. The 1.3 kg fragrance post covers the bigger version of this rounding problem.

What each scent costs per candle — and what load does to it

Here is the per-candle material cost at the prices this basket actually pays: Chunks at ₹598.95 a kilo (blended across the three bags), oils at their 100 g price, Eco Thin C1 at ₹5.90, a sticker at ₹2.50 and the White Matte jar at ₹70.80. It excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST.

Material cost per 200 g candle (illustrative fill) · oil at the 100 g price · load sensitivity shows oil only
Vanilla, coffee and lavender, side by side
Scent Oil ₹/g Oil at 6% Oil at 8% Oil at 10% Full material cost at 8%
Vanilla (Dark Vanilla) ₹7.90 ₹94.80 ₹126.40 ₹158.00 ₹315.81
Coffee (Roasted Coffee) ₹3.90 ₹46.80 ₹62.40 ₹78.00 ₹251.81
Lavender ₹5.40 ₹64.80 ₹86.40 ₹108.00 ₹275.81

The spread between the dearest and cheapest candle is ₹64.00, and all of it is oil. If you price the three candles the same, the coffee candle quietly carries the vanilla one; if you price them differently, this table is the reason. Moving the whole range from 8% to 10% would add ₹1,520.04 to the fragrance line on this basket (3 × 100 g + 5 × 15 g of vanilla, 4 × 100 g of coffee, 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g + 2 × 15 g of lavender) — paid from the reserve, which would then be ₹1,072.56. The 10% fragrance-load post runs that comparison at 100 candles.

Test the load before you change the budget
If you want to know whether vanilla needs more than 8% in your jar, pour one extra test candle at 10% from the production oil — four grams more than an 8% candle — and burn it beside an 8% candle with the same wick. CSI publishes no throw data for any oil, so only that side-by-side tells you whether the extra oil is worth paying for in all eighteen.
The vanilla mistake: buying it by the kilo because it is the 'main' scent. ₹7,646.00 for 1 kg of Dark Vanilla is ₹7.65 a gram against ₹7.90 at 100 g — a saving of ₹76.20 on the 300 g this plan needs — but 1 kg would scent about 60 candles at 8% — more than three times the 18 vanilla candles in this launch — and would take 38.2% of the whole budget. Fix: buy the 300 g the candles need; move to 500 g or 1 kg only when the reorder history says vanilla goes through it before it ages on your shelf.

The test stage, and what waits for it

The testing line is ₹330.40: a centering device and two small wick packs. Six of the 54 candles are test candles — one per scent on Eco Thin C1, one per scent on Eco Thick C2 — poured from the same wax, oil and jars as production. That is the right test for a three-scent launch because different oils can change how the same wick behaves; testing one scent and assuming the other two follow is the commonest shortcut and the one that most often goes wrong.

1
Pour the six test candles firstFor each scent: one jar with Eco Thin C1, one with Eco Thick C2. 184 g of Chunks and 16 g of oil per jar. CSI's Chunks page states fragrance addition at 80–90°C and pour at 75–80°C in its spec table (the step list shows 70–80°C).
2
Hold the other 48 candles' materialsDo not pour production yet. Wax, oil and jars are already in hand; only the production wick is undecided.
3
Cure to the same checkpointCSI's Chunks page states a cure of at least 48 hours, ideally one to two weeks. Use one labelled checkpoint — for example 7 days — for all six.
4
Burn in matched cycles3–4 hours per cycle, a commonly used working practice, all six together, spaced apart. Record time to full pool, pool depth, flame height, soot, mushrooming and jar-side warmth.
5
Decide one wick for all three — or twoIf one wick passes for all three scents, buy its 50-pack: Eco Thin C1 at ₹295.00 or Thick C2 at ₹472.00 (the ₹177.00 difference comes from the reserve). If vanilla passes on Thick and the others on Thin, buy a 20-pack of each instead — ₹306.80.
6
Pour production in one session per scentFifteen or sixteen jars per scent, one oil at a time, cleaning the jug between scents. Number every jar for your records.

CSI publishes no wick-per-diameter chart and no numeric flame or jar-temperature limits. A wick passes when it is no worse than a candle you trust on every safety line and stays within your jar supplier's guidance and the candle fire-safety standard you work to; throw is never bought with a hotter jar. The wick-sample post shows how many sizes to add when the first two both fail.

When a three-fragrance launch is the wrong plan

Three scents is a sensible first collection on ₹20,000 because each still gets 18 candles — enough to put in front of customers and learn something. Go to four or five on the same money and each scent drops to a dozen or fewer, and the test stage grows with every oil you add. If your plan is to look like a bigger collection without buying more materials, the ₹20,000 'look large' post shows how far one jar, one wax and different oils can stretch, and the depth-against-breadth post prices the trade-off at ₹50,000.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The cheapest way to make this launch smaller and safer is to buy less from us: if you are unsure about vanilla's ₹2,370.00 oil line, launch coffee and lavender first with 27 candles each and add vanilla after the first sales. The jars and wax are the same; only the vanilla bottles wait. We would rather you reorder vanilla in a month than buy it now and watch it sit.
Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. A three-scent launch ordered this week leaves time for a 7-day cure, a wick test and a production pour before the festive weeks. Send us your three scents, jar and budget on WhatsApp and we will check stock and price the basket — larger quantities are quoted, and no volume discount figure is published.

Where the other budget questions are answered

This page owns the three-named-fragrance version of a ₹20,000 budget. The ₹10,000 hub sets out the four allocation rules; ₹25,000: bulk or small decides which materials deserve bigger packs; ₹30,000 online asks how many fragrances and jar sizes a budget supports; ₹50,000 for five fragrances runs the capacity count at five scents; and 25 lavender, 25 vanilla, 25 coffee and 25 sandalwood is the fixed-count version of this split.

Buy the wax and jars once, for every candle. Split only the oil, by candles, and let the reorders decide what comes next.

Want a different coffee or vanilla? CSI also lists Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, Moca Coffee (15 g out of stock on the pull) and Cinnamon Vanilla. Re-price the fragrance line from each product page; the rest of the budget does not move. All oils are in Fragrance Oils.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We do not know which of vanilla, coffee or lavender will sell for you, and we will not pretend to. This page gives each scent the same number of candles, keeps a reserve for reorders, and tells you not to buy the 1 kg vanilla we sell until your own sales justify it.

Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Jars and wicks were re-checked 4 October 2026. Frequently asked questions

How much fragrance oil do I need for 18 candles of 200 g?
At 8%, 288 g of oil, or 296.64 g with 3% pour loss — three 100 g bottles per scent.
Is vanilla fragrance oil more expensive than coffee?
At CSI, Dark Vanilla is ₹7.90 a gram at 100 g and Roasted Coffee ₹3.90 — about twice. In a 200 g candle at 8% that is ₹126.40 of oil against ₹62.40.
Should I spend the same amount on each candle fragrance?
Spend the same number of candles on each, not the same rupees. Equal rupees lets the price list decide your stock levels.
How much soy wax for 54 candles of 200 g?
At 8%, 9,936 g of wax, or 10,234.1 g with 3% pour loss. In Chunks that is 2 × 5 kg + 1 × 500 g (₹6,289.00).
Do I need different wicks for vanilla, coffee and lavender candles?
Possibly. Different oils can change how a wick burns. Test each scent on the same two wick options before buying production wicks.
How much should I keep aside from a ₹20,000 candle budget?
This plan keeps ₹2,592.60 (13%) for a wick swap, a retest or the first reorder of whichever scent sells first.
Split by candles
Buy the wax and jars once. Split the oil by candles. Keep the reserve for the reorder.
Dark Vanilla ₹790.00, Roasted Coffee ₹390.00 and Lavender ₹540.00 for 100 g; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks from ₹299.00 for 500 g; White Matte jars ₹708.00 for 10. Tell us your scents and jar and we will price the launch.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of the finished candle (200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax). The White Matte jar's fill weight is not published; 200 g is illustrative. What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — up to 10%, shelf life 60 months in cool, dry storage; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — up to 13%, melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Natural Soy Pearl — no fragrance ceiling, temperatures or shelf life published. Chunks' page also states fragrance addition at 80–90°C, pour 75–80°C in its spec table (70–80°C in its step list) and a cure of at least 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks. The 8% load, 3% pour loss, six test candles, one spare jar, cure checkpoint and burn cycle are labelled working assumptions. Best-selling positions are the collection's sort order, not sales data. Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
