The maths for 500 × 100 g

CSI calculates fragrance load as a share of the finished candle. For a candle of weight W at load L, oil = W × L and wax = W × (1 − L). For this order W is 100 g and L is 8%, so each favour holds 8 g of lavender and 92 g of wax. Multiply by the number of candles you pour and you have the order. Every other figure on this page is those two lines scaled up, with allowances added in a fixed order.

The naive line is the one to avoid. Reading 500 × 100 g as 50 kg of wax and then buying 4 kg of oil on top would make 500 candles of 108 g each, or leave you with 4.00 kg of wax too many. At CSI 464's price that is ₹2,029.60 of wax you did not need. We have not added backup favours here. A single-scent order with a firm guest count often does not need them, and your ten test candles double as a small reserve once they have been checked. If you want backups, add them as whole candles before the pour loss, exactly as the hub, 300 × 80 g wedding order, does with a 5% allowance. At 5% this order would pour 535 favours and need 4,408.40 g of lavender.

Buying 4.2 kg of lavender

You need 4,202.40 g. Lavender Fragrance Oil is listed at 15 g ₹105.02, 50 g ₹270.00, 100 g ₹540.00, 500 g ₹2,620.00 and 1 kg ₹5,221.00. Per gram that is ₹7.00, ₹5.40, ₹5.40, ₹5.24 and ₹5.22. Only the 15 g carries a real premium. Everything from 50 g up is within 3.5% of the kilo rate. So the question is how many bottles to open and how much you are happy to have left over, not which size is cheaper.

The cheapest cover, 4 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 15 g, leaves only 12.60 g spare. That is enough if your weighing is accurate and your loss really is 3%. If you want a margin, four kilos plus three 100 g bottles gives about 98 g spare for ₹434.98 more. Five kilos gives almost 800 g spare, which is only worth it if lavender is a scent you sell all year. Buying the whole requirement in 100 g bottles costs more and means 43 bottles to open and weigh from.

Four waxes at 48 kg

You need 48,327.60 g of container wax. CSI lists four soy-based container waxes, each in bags up to 10 kg, and one of them (Natural Soy Pearl) in a 50 kg bag. Here is each one priced to cover the requirement, using the combination of listed bags that costs least.

On price alone the order is clear: Natural Soy Pearl, then CSI 464, then Chunks, then coconut soy. The spread between the cheapest and the dearest is ₹10,024.00 on this order, or ₹20.72 a favour. Price is not the only test, though. Only two CSI waxes carry a stated fragrance ceiling: Chunks up to 13% and CSI 464 up to 10%. For an 8% lavender favour, both are inside their limits with room to spare. Natural Soy Pearl and CSI 468 have no ceiling in our data. They may well hold 8% comfortably, but check the product page or ask us, and pour test candles before committing 48 kg.

A quirk worth knowing on the Pearl: the single 50 kg bag (₹21,240.00) costs ₹324.00 more than 4 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg + 4 × 1 kg (₹20,916.00), because you are buying a kilo more. Per kilo, the 5, 10 and 50 kg bags are all ₹424.80, and the 1 kg is ₹450.00. Buy the 50 kg if you will use the extra kilo, or if one bag is easier to store. On Chunks, the 10 kg bag is ₹5,999.00 against ₹2,995.00 for 5 kg, so two 5 kg bags are ₹9.00 cheaper than one 10 kg.

The batch card: ten pours of 50

Split the 500 favours into ten batches of 50, plus one small test batch. Each production batch is 50 × 100 g = 5,000 g of finished candle: 400 g of lavender and 4,600 g of wax. Weigh the wax, melt it, weigh the oil separately, add it and stir, then pour 50 jars. If your melter holds less, halve the batch and the numbers with it. CSI does not publish melter throughput, so size the batch to your own equipment.

The last column is your check against the order. After batch 10 you should have used 4,080 g of lavender plus whatever the jug and spills took. If you have poured all ten batches and still hold much more than the ~122.40 g allowance plus the rounding spare, something was under-dosed. Check the batch sheet before the candles leave. Where the 100 g goes: the jar check

The order does not name a container, and 100 g favours have no CSI jar with a published fill at that weight. A reasonable candidate is the Yankee Glass Jar 130 ml with clear cap, ₹47.20 each with its own cap. Its 130 ml is a brim volume, not a fill weight. Solid soy wax is lighter than water, and a working approximation of 0.86–0.90 g of wax per ml (it varies by wax, temperature and fill line) puts a brim fill at roughly 111.80 g to 117 g. That suggests 100 g will sit below the shoulder with some headspace, but it is an estimate, not a spec.

The complete order

The title asks about lavender and wax, but a favour also needs a wick and a jar. Here is the full order for 510 poured favours with CSI 464 as the wax, Yankee 130 ml jars and Eco Thin C1 wicks. The wicks include about 5% extra for wicks damaged while setting, a working assumption. CSI does not publish wick sizes per jar, so confirm the wick with your test candles.

That is ₹147.88 of material per delivered favour. One finished favour, at the rates bought, costs ₹41.89 of lavender, ₹46.68 of wax, ₹5.90 of wick and ₹47.20 for the jar and cap: ₹141.67. Labels, ribbon, boxes, courier, labour and GST are extra and come from your own quotes. The jar is the largest single line. If the couple's budget is tight, that is where to look first, not the oil.

Swap the wax and the total moves. With Natural Soy Pearl in a single 50 kg bag, the order drops by ₹3,375.20. With Luxury Soy Wax Chunks it rises by ₹4,435.80. Whichever you choose, pour your test candles in that wax, because a load test in one wax says nothing about another.

If the order changes after you have bought, do not redo the whole calculation from scratch. Work out the new total, subtract what you hold, and buy the difference.
