500–1,000 Candle Orders · Double Wick
A second wick doubles every wick-related line — production wicks, test wicks, stickers and holders — and leaves wax, fragrance and the jar alone. Count rejects in candles, count damage in wicks, and test the wicks as pairs.
2,063 wicks
for 1,000 saleable double-wick candles at 2% rejects and 1% damaged wicks · ₹12,213.00 in Eco Thin C1 · CSI pricing re-checked 4 October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Is it 2,000 wicks? No — 2,063. 1,000 ÷ 0.98 rejects = 1,021 candles × 2 = 2,042, plus 1% of wicks damaged in handling (21).

How many spare wicks? 63 over 2,000 for production, plus 24 test wicks bought separately. Count damage per wick, not per candle.

Does a second wick change the wax? No. Wax and oil follow finished weight: 368 g wax and 32 g oil per 400 g candle at 8%, whether it has one wick or two.

What does the CSI order cost? ₹4,28,733.00 for wax, oil, test and production wicks and stickers (jar excluded — CSI lists no double-wick jar). See the list.
The short answer
Answer: Production wicks = order ÷ (1 − rejects) × 2 + damage % × wicks. For 1,000 at 2% and 1%: 1,021 × 2 + 21 = 2,063.
Why: A rejected candle loses both wicks, so rejects are counted in candles and doubled. Wicks are damaged one at a time, so damage is counted in wicks.
Test: Pairs of the same wick, four candles per candidate, one burned to the end. CSI publishes no wick sizes or spacing. The single-wick post covers test packs.
Double-wick candles: what doubles, and what does not Example: 1,000 saleable × 400 g (illustrative) · Saffron Cedarwood 8% · Luxury Soy Wax Chunks · reader's own two-wick jar Top view · two wicks, one pool spacing: test it, not published × 2 PER CANDLE Production wicks: 2,063 Test wicks: 8 per candidate Stickers: 2,087 Holders: 100 per 50-candle batch Damage allowance: per wick × 1 PER CANDLE Wax: 368 g per candle Oil: 32 g per candle Jar: one (not a CSI listing) Reject allowance: per candle Pour loss: wax and oil only Naive: 1,000 × 2 = 2,000 wicks · needed: 2,063 · bought: 2,070 Thin C1 (₹12,213.00)
A double-wick candle doubles every wick-related line — production and test wicks, stickers, holders in use, and the damage allowance, which is counted per wick — while wax, oil, the jar, rejects (counted in candles) and pour loss stay per candle. The 400 g candle is illustrative; CSI lists no double-wick jar, and wick size and spacing are settled by burn tests.
Straight answer
I need 1,000 double-wick candles — how many production wicks and spare wicks should I order?
Not 2,000 — about 2,063 production wicks, plus a separate small set for testing. Count rejects in candles and then double them: at a 2% reject allowance (a working assumption) you pour 1,000 ÷ 0.98 = 1,021 production candles, which is 2,042 wicks. Count damage in wicks, because wicks are bent and re-set one at a time: 1% of 2,042 is 21. That gives 2,063, or 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 1 × 20 Eco Thin C1 for ₹12,213.00 if Thin C1 wins. Before that, test the wicks as matched pairs — four candles each for Thin C1, Thick C2 and Cotton Braided, 24 wicks from small packs (₹332.40) — because CSI publishes no wick sizes or spacing for double-wick jars, and lists no double-wick jar. Wax and oil do not double: a 400 g candle at 8% is 368 g of wax and 32 g of oil either way.
One line: rejects in candles (then × 2), damage in wicks, tests in pairs — and the production pack only after the pair passes.
For 1,000 saleable double-wick candles the production wick line is 1,000 ÷ 0.98 = 1,021 candles × 2 = 2,042, plus a 1% damaged-wick allowance counted per wick (21) = 2,063 wicks. In Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 that is 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 1 × 20 = ₹12,213.00, bought after the test. CSI does not list a double-wick jar, so the jar is yours; every other line on this page is priced.

Two wicks per candle doubles the wick line — and nothing else

1,000 double-wick candles is not 2,000 wicks. It is 2,063, and the gap is not where most people put it.

A double-wick candle is one candle with two flames sharing a single melt pool. For the bill of materials that means every wick-related line is multiplied by two per candle — production wicks, test wicks, wick stickers, and the holders that keep both wicks straight while the wax sets — and every other line is not. The wax and fragrance follow the candle's finished weight, exactly as they would for a single-wick candle of the same size; the jar is still one jar. The commonest error with double-wick orders is not forgetting to double the wicks. It is doubling the wicks and then sizing every allowance as if the order were single-wick.

Take the rejects first. A rejected double-wick candle loses both wicks, so the reject allowance is applied to candles and then multiplied: 1,000 ÷ 0.98 = 1,021 candles, × 2 = 2,042 wicks. Then the damage allowance. Wicks get bent, creased and re-set one at a time, so damage scales with the number of wicks handled, not the number of candles: 1% of 2,042 is 21 wicks. If you size damage per candle (1% of 1,021 = 11), you have halved the allowance for a line where you handle twice as many wicks. Together: 2,063 production wicks, which is 63 more than the naive 2,000.

The CSI principle
Rejects are counted in candles and then doubled. Damage is counted in wicks.
Everything else — wax, oil, the jar, pour loss — is a per-candle line that a second wick does not change.

The double-wick ledger, line by line

The example is a 400 g candle — the series' illustrative size for a large jar — in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks with Saffron Cedarwood at 8%: 32 g of oil and 368 g of wax per candle. CSI does not list a double-wick (or three-wick) jar, so the container is your own; its fill and diameter are yours to measure. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks' product page states a maximum fragrance load of 13%, so 8% sits well inside it. The 2% reject rate, 1% damage rate, 3% pour loss and four test candles per candidate are labelled working assumptions.

Halving the damage allowance by accident. "1% spare for 1,000 candles is 10 wicks" — or, after rejects, 11. But a double-wick line handles 2,042 wicks, and each can be bent or set crooked on its own. Fix: count damage in wicks. Here it is 21, not 11. In rupees the difference is small; on the production floor it is the difference between finishing the run and pulling wicks out of rejected candles.
2,042 wicks before damage · Eco Thin C1 at ₹5.90 each, re-checked 4 October 2026 · damage rates are examples
Production wick line at different damage rates
Damage (per wick) Extra wicks Production wicks Thin C1 packs CSI price
0% 0 2,042 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 ₹12,095.00
1% 21 2,063 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 1 × 20 ₹12,213.00
2% 41 2,083 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 2 × 20 ₹12,331.00
3% 62 2,104 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 3 × 20 ₹12,449.00

As with single-wick orders, the cost barely moves: Eco wicks are priced per wick in every pack, so the allowance changes the bill by a few hundred rupees at most. What moves more is the spare after packs. Two 1,000-packs cover 2,000 wicks; everything above that is a top-up of 20s and 50s. If your own damage tally is lower than 1%, the top-up shrinks — measure it on your first 100 candles and adjust the second half of the order.

Testing a double-wick candle: pairs, not singles

Two wicks in one pool behave as a pair. Test them as one.

CSI does not publish wick sizes per jar diameter, and it publishes nothing on wick spacing for double-wick candles. Both are settled by burn tests in your jar. In general practice two wicks are commonly placed so that their individual melt pools meet and merge into one, and the pair is judged on the combined pool: whether it reaches the jar edge within a normal burn, how deep it runs, and whether the two flames stay steady or pull towards each other. That is why each candidate is a matched pair of the same wick, and each test candle uses two wicks.

1
Fix the spacing before you fix the wickMark both wick positions on a paper template cut to your jar's base and use the same template for every test candle. If you change the spacing between candidates, you are testing two variables.
2
Hold both wicks while the wax setsEach candle needs two holders. A Wick Centering Device pack of 5 is ₹118.00; a two-wick candle needs two, so size holders by how many candles you pour in one session, not by the order.
3
Pour four candles per pairThree to burn in matched cycles, one to take to the end. 12 candles, 24 wicks. At 400 g each the test pour is 4.8 kg of finished candle.
4
Burn and score the combined pool3–4 hour cycles with a full cool-down are a commonly used working practice. Record time to a merged full pool, pool depth, both flame heights, any flame lean or merging, soot and the jar-side reading.
5
Knock out anything that runs hotterTwo flames put more heat into the glass than one. Any pair that runs hotter, taller or sootier than the others is out. CSI publishes no numeric flame or jar-temperature limits; judge against the best pair and the fire-safety standard you work to.
6
Burn one candle per surviving pair to the endA double-wick candle that is fine at the top can run hot near the base where the pool is shallower and closer to the glass. Order production wicks only after that candle has finished.
Holders are tooling, not a per-candle consumable
If you pour 50 double-wick candles a session (a labelled example), you need 100 holders in use at once — 20 Wick Centering Device packs, ₹2,360.00 — reused every session. They do not scale with a 1,000-candle order; they scale with your batch size.

Production wicks for whichever pair wins

The production line has three possible prices, each the cheapest in-stock cover for 2,063 wicks. Every Eco and Cotton Braided pack is priced linearly per wick, so doubling the wicks doubles the wick cost per candle — a double-wick candle carries two wicks, two stickers and, in practice, more test time.

2,063 production wicks · cheapest in-stock packs · re-checked 4 October 2026
Production wick cost by test winner
Winning pair Packs Wicks bought Spare CSI price Wicks per saleable candle
Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 1 × 20 2,070 7 ₹12,213.00 ₹12.21
Eco Candle Wicks Thick C2 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 1 × 20 2,070 7 ₹19,540.80 ₹19.54
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made 2 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 + 2 × 10 2,070 7 ₹24,840.00 ₹24.84

The spread between the three is ₹12,627.00 on this order — real money, but still small beside the wax and oil. That is why the wick is chosen on the burn sheet and not on price: a pair that tunnels or runs hot turns a 400 g candle carrying about ₹402.62 of wax, oil, wicks and stickers into a reject.

The oil line: why 500 g bottles beat kilos for this fragrance

A 400 g candle at 8% takes 32 g of oil, so a 1,000-candle double-wick order is a large fragrance purchase: 1,033 candles × 32 g × 1.03 = 34.05 kg. Most CSI oils are priced almost linearly above 100 g, but Saffron Cedarwood is one of the exceptions where the per-gram price is lowest at 500 g, not 1 kg: ₹2,584.20 for 500 g is ₹5.17 a gram, while the 1 kg is ₹6,867.60, ₹6.87 a gram.

34.05 kg of Saffron Cedarwood · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026
Two ways to buy the same oil
Route Packs Oil bought CSI price Per gram
1 kg bottles 35 × 1 kg 35,000 g ₹2,40,366.00 ₹6.87
500 g bottles (cheapest cover) 68 × 500 g + 1 × 50 g 34,050 g ₹1,76,079.60 ₹5.17
Difference ₹64,286.40

That is ₹64,286.40 saved by buying the size most people would call "not the bulk one". The lesson generalises: always compute the per-gram price at every listed size for the exact oil you are buying. On CSI's catalogue the one reliable price step is from 15 g to 50 g/100 g; above that most oils are linear, a minority get cheaper at 1 kg, and a few — Saffron Cedarwood and Sage and Cedarwood among them — are cheapest per gram at 500 g. Volume pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp; no discount figure is published.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The 1 kg bottle is the bigger sale for us, and on this oil it is the worse buy by ₹64,286.40. Buy the 500 g bottles. The same honesty applies to the wax: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks' 10 kg bag works out at ₹599.90 a kilo, a little dearer than the 5 kg bag at ₹599.00, so the wax line below is built from 5 kg bags. Rounding up to 40 × 10 kg bags instead would cost ₹5,152.00 more and leave 8.5 kg of wax over.

Buy now, buy after the pair passes

The buy-now/buy-later split is the same as for single-wick orders, with one difference: there is twice as much wick money waiting on the test, and the full-life candle matters more because two flames put more heat into the lower jar. Wax for the test candles, the approved oil and your jars can be ordered now. The production wicks wait until one candle per surviving pair has burned to the end. If the client has not approved the fragrance, the new-fragrance post shows what to hold; if your pair fails late, the unvalidated-wick post lists every line to delay.

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, and large double-wick candles are a common festive and corporate gift. A double-wick full-life test takes longer than a single-wick one, so pour the test pairs this week. Send us your jar, candle weight and order size on WhatsApp and we will confirm stock of the 1,000-packs, the Chunks bags and the 500 g Saffron Cedarwood bottles; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp and no discount figure is published.

This page owns the double-wick arithmetic. The single-wick post covers the one-wick ledger and the test-pack logic in more depth; the breakage post sizes the jar line; the emergency-remake post covers replacement candles on a tight deadline; combined or separate BOMs shows how a double-wick SKU sits beside single-wick ones on one order; and the procurement sheet lays every line out in one copyable table. For a three-wick product, the 500 g three-wick post extends the same rules.

Count rejects in candles, damage in wicks, and test the wicks in pairs. Then — and only then — buy the two thousand.

No double-wick jar in the CSI listing? Correct — CSI lists no double-wick or three-wick jar, and no tealight cups. The wax, oil, wick and sticker maths on this page is valid for any two-wick container you source; measure its fill with a weighed test pour and its diameter for your own records, and run the pair test in that jar.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. Double-wick orders sell twice as many wicks, and it would suit us to recommend a large spare. This page sizes the spare from the losses that actually consume a wick, and shows where buying a smaller oil bottle saves more than any wick allowance costs.

Wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Wick, sticker and holder prices were re-checked 4 October 2026. Every count, pack combination and rupee figure is arithmetic shown in full.

The 400 g fill, 8% load, 2% rejects, 1% damaged wicks, 3% pour loss, four test candles per pair and a 50-candle pour session are labelled working assumptions. CSI lists no double-wick or three-wick jar and publishes no wick sizes or spacing; test in your own jar, and ask on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 for stock, bulk quotes, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation.

Frequently asked questions

How many wicks do I need for 1000 double wick candles?
About 2,063 for production at 2% rejects and 1% damaged wicks, plus test wicks bought separately. Exactly 2,000 leaves you 63 short.
Should the spare wick percentage be per candle or per wick?
Rejects per candle (a rejected candle loses both wicks); damage per wick (wicks are damaged one at a time). Counting damage per candle halves the allowance on a double-wick line.
Do double wick candles need more fragrance oil?
Not for the same finished weight and load. Oil = weight × load. A second wick changes the melt pool, not the formula; any load change is a test decision within the wax's published ceiling.
Does CSI sell double wick candle jars?
No double-wick or three-wick jar is listed. The wax, oil and wick maths is valid for any two-wick container you source; weigh a test pour for its fill.
What wick size for a double wick candle?
CSI publishes no wick sizes per diameter or spacing. Test matched pairs of candidate wicks in your jar, four candles each, and burn one to the end before ordering.
How many wick stickers for double wick candles?
One per wick: 2,087 for this order including tests, which is 53 sheets of 40 at ₹100.00.

Test the wicks as pairs. Order two thousand and a top-up only once the pair has burned to the bottom.

They are general product reviews, not assessments of the guidance set out here. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me and wording is unedited. "Verified buyer" appears only on the three reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Monika Deep, Subhankar Roy and Sneha Tamang; the reviews from Ashwini, LJ and Lalitha Jagan are published but not recorded as verified, and carry no badge.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of finished weight (400 g at 8% = 32 g oil + 368 g wax). The 400 g fill (the series' illustrative large-jar size), 8% load, 2% rejects, 1% damaged wicks (per wick), 3% pour loss, four test candles per pair and the 50-candle pour session are labelled working assumptions. What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, fragrance addition 80–90°C, pour 75–80°C in the spec table (the step list also shows 70–80°C), cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks. CSI lists no double-wick or three-wick jar and publishes no wick sizes, wick spacing or jar fills (except the 85 g tin and 50 g velvet jar). Per-candle material cost excludes the jar, labour, packaging, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
