I Need 2,000 × 150 g Candles at 10% Fragrance — How Much Fragrance Oil Will I Consume and How Much Additional Stock Should I Keep?
Aktie
How much extra stock should I keep? Size it by what you want it to cover: 1,500 g for a 5% buffer, 600 g to remake 2% of candles, or 3,090 g for one day's production. See three ways to size it.
What is the total to buy? With a 5% buffer, 32,460 g. For Eucalyptus Spearmint, 32 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g costs ₹99,828.00. At this size, ask for a WhatsApp quote as well.
Is 10% safe for my wax? Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13%, so 10% is inside the ceiling. CSI 464 is rated up to 10%, so 10% is its ceiling. Both are wax makers' stated maximums, not recommended loads.
What the run consumes
CSI's convention is that load is a share of the finished candle weight. A 150 g candle at 10% holds 150 × 0.10 = 15 g of oil and 135 g of wax. Two thousand of them hold 30,000 g of oil and 270,000 g of wax, 300 kg of finished candle in all.
| Line | Basis | Oil | Running total |
|---|---|---|---|
| In 2,000 candles | 2,000 × 15 g | 30,000 g | 30,000 g |
| Pour loss | 3% of net (working assumption) | 900 g | 30,900 g |
| Test candles | 4 × 15 g | 60 g | 30,960 g |
| Wax, for comparison | 2,000 × 135 g, +3%, +4 tests | — | 278,640 g |
Makers commonly plan 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns. At this scale, the choice between 3% and 5% is 600 g of oil, forty candles' worth, so measure it on the first day instead of guessing. Weigh every bottle when you open it and again at the end of the day; the drop is the real consumption. The consumption ledger sets out that method in full.
At 10%, the load convention matters more than at lower loads. Taking 10% of the 270 kg of wax gives 27,000 g of oil, a true load of 9.09% and 3,000 g short. That single mistake is twice the whole 5% safety stock on this page. Ordering from the finished weight explains why, and calculating wax for 2,000 × 150 g covers the 270 kg.
How much extra to keep
Pour loss and test candles are spent by the run. Additional stock is different: you hope not to use it. It exists to cover specific problems, and each problem gives a different size. Three common ways to size it for a one-off order of this size:
| Method | Basis | Extra oil | Total to buy | Cheapest cover | Cost | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| No extra | — | 0 g | 30,960 g | 31 × 1 kg | ₹95,108.00 | nothing beyond the plan |
| 5% of net oil | 0.05 × 30,000 g | 1,500 g | 32,460 g | 32 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g | ₹99,828.00 | 100 candles |
| Remake capacity, 2% rejects | 40 candles × 15 g | 600 g | 31,560 g | 31 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 4 × 15 g | ₹97,033.76 | 40 candles |
| One production day | 200 candles × 15 g × 1.03 | 3,090 g | 34,050 g | 34 × 1 kg + 1 × 50 g | ₹1,04,524.40 | 206 candles |
A percentage buffer is simple and scales with the order. Five percent of 30,000 g is 1,500 g, which covers a hundred remade candles or an unexpected spike in loss. Remake capacity is more precise if you know your reject rate: if about 2% of candles are rejected for surface defects, cracked jars or bad wicks, you need oil for forty remakes, 600 g. Production days suit a run spread over time: one day at 200 candles is 3,090 g, and it protects the schedule rather than the unit count.
For a one-off order, pick the largest of the methods that match a real risk, not the sum of all three. If rejects are your main worry, 600 g is enough. If a stalled day would cost you a delivery date, keep 3,090 g. The 5% line sits between the two and is the default used for the rest of this page.
If the order is likely to repeat, the extra becomes the opening stock for the next run, and the question turns into inventory: how much to hold between orders, and when to reorder given how long a restock takes. Lead times are not published in CSI's data, so ask on WhatsApp for current availability. Reorder points for fast and slow fragrances, two weeks of safety stock and the reorder trigger for a bestseller take it from there.
The stock, day by day
A ten-day run of 200 candles a day makes the numbers concrete. Each day uses 3,090 g of oil (200 × 15 g × 1.03), and day one also pours the four test candles. Starting from a purchase of 32,500 g, which is the consumption plus a 5% safety stock rounded to real bottles:
| Day | Candles poured (cumulative) | Used that day | Left on the shelf | Days of production it covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | 200 | 3,150 g | 29,350 g | 9.5 |
| Day 2 | 400 | 3,090 g | 26,260 g | 8.5 |
| Day 3 | 600 | 3,090 g | 23,170 g | 7.5 |
| Day 4 | 800 | 3,090 g | 20,080 g | 6.5 |
| Day 5 | 1,000 | 3,090 g | 16,990 g | 5.5 |
| Day 6 | 1,200 | 3,090 g | 13,900 g | 4.5 |
| Day 7 | 1,400 | 3,090 g | 10,810 g | 3.5 |
| Day 8 | 1,600 | 3,090 g | 7,720 g | 2.5 |
| Day 9 | 1,800 | 3,090 g | 4,630 g | 1.5 |
| Day 10 | 2,000 | 3,090 g | 1,540 g | 0.5 |
The shelf never goes below the 1,500 g line in a normal run; it finishes at 1,540 g. That is the point of a safety stock: if pour loss runs at 5% instead of 3%, the run uses 600 g more and finishes at 940 g, still with oil to spare. If thirty candles have to be remade, the run uses another 450 g. Both problems are absorbed without an emergency order. Keep the safety bottles sealed and labelled until a problem actually calls for them.
Buying thirty-odd kilos
On the listing, 32,460 g of Eucalyptus Spearmint is 32 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g, ₹99,828.00. This oil is one of the 24 in the collection with a genuine kilo saving: ₹3.07 a gram at 1 kg against ₹3.30 at 500 g and ₹3.54 at 100 g. Buying the same 30 kg in 100 g bottles would cost ₹1,06,200.00, ₹14,160.00 more than thirty kilos. So the kilo is clearly the right listed unit. For a single quantity this large, also ask for a WhatsApp quote. No volume discount figure is published, so compare any quote per gram against ₹3.07.
| Oil | Run only | Run + 5% buffer | Buffer costs | Per candle at 15 g (1 kg rate) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eucalyptus Spearmint | ₹95,108.00 | ₹99,828.00 | ₹4,720.00 | ₹46.05 |
| Lemongrass and Lime | ₹1,61,200.00 | ₹1,69,000.00 | ₹7,800.00 | ₹78.00 |
| Cucumber Green Tea | ₹1,03,155.60 | ₹1,08,147.00 | ₹4,991.40 | ₹49.95 |
The buffer column is the price of insurance: ₹4,720.00 for Eucalyptus Spearmint, about ₹2.36 per candle across the order. For a premium oil the same 1,500 g costs far more, which is one reason makers carry larger buffers on cheap, fast-moving scents and smaller, more precisely sized ones on expensive ones. Storage life is not published in this data; keep bottles sealed, cool and away from light, and ask on WhatsApp for the MSDS and storage guidance for the oil you choose.

| Item | Need | Buy | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil | 32,460 g | 32 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g | ₹99,828.00 |
| Luxury Soy Wax Chunks | 292,140 g | 59 × 5 kg (295 kg) | ₹1,76,705.00 |

| Total (oil, wax, wicks) | ₹2,88,982.00 |
That is ₹144.49 per saleable candle for oil, wax and wick with the whole safety stock included, before jars, labour, packaging, freight and GST. The wax uses 5 kg bags because the Chunks' 5 kg is listed at ₹599.00 a kilo against ₹599.90 in the 10 kg. Jars are your own 150 g container; CSI does not publish fill weights for most of its jars, so confirm the fill with a weighed pour. Wick size for a 10% candle in your jar is not published either; the four test candles are there to confirm it.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. "Keep extra" is advice that always sells more. This page sizes the extra by what it covers, recommends the smallest buffer that matches a real risk, and says plainly that a thirty-fifth kilo is a purchase for an order that does not exist yet.
Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Out-of-stock sizes are never offered as buyable. The 30 kg figure is arithmetic (2,000 × 150 g × 0.10), and the draw-down table is arithmetic on the stated daily rate and allowances.
The 3% pour loss, four test candles, 200-candles-a-day schedule, 2% reject rate and the 5% safety stock are working assumptions. Lead times and storage life are not published; ask on WhatsApp. The 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and 10% (CSI 464) ceilings are wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory. CSI lists oils up to 1 kg per listing; larger quantities are quoted with no published discount. Message us at +91 7397976926.
