Production Calculator · 300 wedding favours
A 100 g favour with 8% fragrance is 92 g of wax and 8 g of oil. Three hundred of them need 27.6 kg of wax, not 30 kg. A wedding order also needs backups and tests, and those are added as candles before the loss allowance.
27.6 kg
of wax for 300 × 100 g favours at 8%, net · 29.75 kg with 10 backups, 4 tests and 3% loss · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How much wax for 300 × 100 g favours at 8%? 27,600 g net — 92 g per favour. With 10 backups, 4 tests and 3% loss, 29,754.6 g: three 10 kg bags of Natural Soy Pearl Wax (₹12,744.00).

How much fragrance oil? 2,400 g net (8 g per favour), 2,587.4 g with the same allowances — Raat Ki Rani 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g for ₹17,635.00.

Why not 300 × 100 g = 30 kg of wax? Because each 100 g already includes 8 g of oil. Buying 30 kg of wax plus oil over-buys 2,400 g of wax — about 26 favours' worth.

What does it cost per guest? ₹158.10 in materials per favour with Yankee 130 ml jars, including backups, tests and spares — before labour, packaging, freight and GST. See the priced order.
The short answer
Wax: 300 × 92 g = 27,600 g net · 314 candles × 100 g × 1.03 × 92% = 29,754.6 g · Soy Pearl 3 × 10 kg (₹12,744.00).
Oil: 300 × 8 g = 2,400 g net · 2,587.4 g with allowances · Raat Ki Rani 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g (₹17,635.00).
Allowances: 10 backups and 4 tests as candles, then 3% loss once — all working assumptions. The hub page sets the order of steps.
One 100 g wedding favour, and the 314 you actually pour 8% of finished weight · Natural Soy Pearl Wax · Raat Ki Rani · 3% loss (working assumption) fill line = 100 g confirm by weighing brim ≈ 112–117 g of wax (approx.) 92 g wax 8 g oil — mixed through the wax, drawn as a band to show its share Yankee Glass Jar 130 ml Candles poured: 314 300 guests 10 backups · 4 tests 314 × 100 g = 31,400 g × 1.03 loss = 32,342 g melted 29,754.6 g wax → 3 × 10 kg 2,587.4 g oil → 2.6 kg Shortcut 300 × 100 g as wax: 30 kg before any backup — 2.4 kg more wax than 300 favours can hold
Left: one favour at 8% of finished weight — 92 g of wax and 8 g of oil — in a 130 ml jar, whose brim holds more than 100 g of wax; the fill weight is not published and the brim figure is an approximation, so weigh a test pour. Right: the candles actually poured — 300 for guests, 10 backups and 4 tests — and the wax and oil that makes after a 3% loss allowance.
Straight answer
I need to make 300 × 100 g wedding-favour candles — how much wax should I buy if each finished candle includes 8% fragrance oil?
Each 100 g favour at 8% of its finished weight is 92 g of wax and 8 g of oil, so 300 favours need 27,600 g of wax and 2,400 g of oil, net — not 30 kg of wax. A wedding order then needs three allowances, which are working assumptions to replace with your own: 10 backup favours for breakage and rejects on the day, 4 test candles to confirm the wick, and 3% pour loss. Backups and tests are candles, so they go in first (314 candles, 31,400 g); the loss multiplies the melt once (32,342 g). That gives 29,754.6 g of wax and 2,587.4 g of oil. In Natural Soy Pearl Wax, priced at ₹424.80 a kilo from 5 kg, that is three 10 kg bags for ₹12,744.00. At 5% loss the wax tips just over 30 kg and needs one more 1 kg bag. Raat Ki Rani rounds to 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g for ₹17,635.00. Buying 300 × 100 g as wax with oil on top over-buys 2,400 g.
One line: 92 g of wax per favour; add backups and tests as candles, then 3% once, then bags.
For 300 wedding favours of 100 g at 8%, plus 10 backup candles, 4 tests and 3% loss: 29,754.6 g of Natural Soy Pearl Wax (3 × 10 kg, ₹12,744.00) and 2,587.4 g of Raat Ki Rani (2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g, ₹17,635.00). Net, before any extras, the favours themselves need 27,600 g of wax.

What is inside one 100 g favour

A favour candle is small, so every gram is a bigger share of it. Get the split right at 100 g and the 300 take care of themselves.

"Each finished candle includes 8% fragrance oil" is exactly CSI's convention: the load is a share of the finished weight. A 100 g favour holds 8 g of oil and 92 g of wax. Three hundred favours are 30,000 g of finished candle, so the net need is 27,600 g of wax and 2,400 g of oil. The title's question is how much wax to buy, and the short answer is 27.6 kg for the favours themselves — not 30 kg. Buying 30 kg of wax and 2.4 kg of oil on top would put 2,400 g of wax into your store room, about 26 favours' worth.

One favour and 300 favours · 8% of finished weight · net
The split
Finished Wax (92%) Oil (8%)
One favour 100 g 92 g 8 g
300 favours 30,000 g 27,600 g 2,400 g
Shortcut: 300 × 100 g as wax 32,400 g 30,000 g 2,400 g
The CSI principle
Ninety-two grams of wax per favour.
That is the number to multiply by. Everything else on this page — backups, tests, loss and packs — is added on top of 92 × 300, never on top of 100 × 300.

Backups, tests and loss for a wedding order

Wedding orders carry a risk ordinary stock does not: the date cannot move. A cracked jar, a sunken top or a candle that fails a visual check on the morning of delivery has to be replaced from something already made. So this page adds three separate allowances, each a labelled working assumption you should replace with your own:

Allowances for 300 favours · working assumptions
Three allowances, three jobs
Allowance Size Added as Why
Backup favours 10 candles (3.3%) Finished candles, poured with the order Replacements for breakage and rejects on delivery day
Test candles 4 candles Candles poured first Two wick options × two jars: one to burn, one to keep
Pour loss 3% Multiplier on the whole melt Jug drip, pot residue, spills

Backups and tests are candles, so they join the count first: 300 + 10 + 4 = 314 candles, or 31,400 g of finished candle. Then the 3% loss multiplies the melt once: 31,400 g × 1.03 = 32,342 g. Split that at 8% and the order is 29,754.6 g of wax and 2,587.4 g of oil.

300 × 100 g favours · Natural Soy Pearl Wax · Raat Ki Rani
From guests to grams
Line Candles Finished weight Wax (92%) Oil (8%)
Favours 300 30,000 g 27,600 g 2,400 g
+ backups 310 31,000 g 28,520 g 2,480 g
+ tests 314 31,400 g 28,888 g 2,512 g
+ 3% loss 314 32,342 g 29,754.6 g 2,587.4 g
Alternative: + 5% loss 314 32,970 g 30,332.4 g 2,637.6 g
Why the loss figure matters more on small candles. Pour loss is mostly fixed per batch — the film left in the jug, the drip on the spout, the last few grams too cold to pour. On 100 g favours, that fixed loss is spread over fewer grams per candle than on 200 g jars, so it is a bigger percentage. At 3% the wax is 29,754.6 g, inside three 10 kg bags. At 5% it is 30,332.4 g — 332.4 g over 30 kg — and needs a 1 kg top-up bag (₹13,194.00 in total). If this is your first favour run, the extra ₹450.00 bag is cheap insurance.
Pour the backups with the order, not after
Backups poured on the same day from the same melt match the batch in colour, scent and surface. A backup poured a week later from a fresh bag can look different enough to be noticed on a table of 300. Label them and store them with the order.

Rounding to Soy Pearl bags and Raat Ki Rani bottles

Soy Pearl is the one CSI container wax where the bigger bag is genuinely cheaper — and 30 kg is squarely in bulk territory.

Natural Soy Pearl Wax is ₹450.00 for 1 kg and ₹424.80 a kilo in the 5 kg (₹2,124.00), 10 kg (₹4,248.00) and 50 kg (₹21,240.00) bags — a 5.6% step (CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026). For 29,754.6 g the answer is three 10 kg bags for ₹12,744.00, with 245.4 g spare. The same 30 kg as 1 kg bags would cost ₹13,500.00 — ₹756.00 more for nothing. No fragrance ceiling for Soy Pearl is quoted in this series: 8% is your figure, inside the 6–10% range makers commonly test; ask CSI on WhatsApp or check the product page for the wax maker's stated maximum.

Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) Fragrance Oil is an Indian night-blooming floral that suits a wedding table, priced at ₹7.00 a gram in 100 g and ₹6.77 in 500 g and 1 kg. You need 2,587.4 g.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. Three 1 kg bottles are the round order and ₹2,687.00 more in our till. At 3% loss you need 2.6 kg. If you plan 5% loss, 2,637.6 g still fits inside 2 × 1 kg + 500 g + 100 g + 50 g. Buy the third kilo only if the couple has already asked for a second scent run in the same oil.

The priced favour order

For a 100 g favour, CSI's Yankee Glass Jar 130 ml with clear cap (₹47.20 each) is a sensible fit — and the cap matters on a guest table. Read the size carefully: 130 ml is the brim volume, not a fill weight. As a labelled approximation, solid soy wax is about 0.86–0.90 g per ml, so the brim would hold roughly 112–117 g, and 100 g leaves a working headspace. The fill weight is not published; weigh one test pour to the line you want before you order 320 jars. Jars get their own count allowance — six spare on top of the 314 poured, for chips found on unpacking.

One favour costs ₹146.37 in materials at list rates (₹39.08 of Soy Pearl, ₹54.19 of Raat Ki Rani, ₹5.90 wick, ₹47.20 jar). Per guest the order works out at ₹158.10, because it also carries ten backups, four tests, 3% loss, spare jars and wicks. That is the figure to quote the couple against — plus labour, packaging, labels, freight and GST, none of which are included. Notice that the jar is the largest line: on a small favour, the container often costs more than the wax and oil together. Wick size per jar diameter is not published, so the four test candles are where you confirm the Thin C1 in the Yankee jar.

1
Weigh one jar to your fill linePour melted wax to the line, let it set, weigh. If it holds 95 g or 105 g, rework the order — 300 favours × 5 g is 1.5 kg of candle.
2

At 6% the wax crosses 30 kg and needs a top-up bag; at 10% the oil order rises by about half a kilo. For Soy Pearl the 6–10% range is a labelled test range, not a spec. A favour sits on a table in a hall, not in a closed room, and whether the couple can smell it at 6% or 10% is a burn-test decision in a space like the venue — CSI publishes no throw data for any oil.

When to buy for a wedding date

Work backwards from the event. The favours need to be poured, cured and packed before delivery; cure times are not published here, so treat any figure you use — a week, two weeks — as your own working checkpoint. The tests need to be poured and burnt before the main order, and the couple may want to approve a sample. That usually means the materials for the four tests should be in hand several weeks before the date, and the production wax and oil soon after.

A practical split: buy the test materials first — one 1 kg Soy Pearl bag, a 100 g Raat Ki Rani, a 10-pack of wicks and a handful of jars — then place the production order once the sample is approved. That keeps you from buying 2.6 kg of a scent the couple may change. Whether sample raw materials belong in the procurement calculation is covered in its own post, and 300 × 80 g wedding candles with backup units works a similar favour order with smaller candles.

Three hundred guests, three hundred and fourteen candles, ninety-two grams of wax in each.
— CandleMakingSuppliesIndia

For the neighbouring calculations: the hub page sets out the five steps, 500 × 100 g for corporate gifting runs the same candle size in CSI 464 and counts 10 kg bags, and 1,000 × 60 g favours with 50 extra candles takes favours to a larger order.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A wedding order invites padding — "buy extra of everything, just in case". This page separates the extras you genuinely need (backups, tests, loss) from the ones that only sell more wax and oil, and prices both so you can choose.

Wax and oil prices come from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026; Yankee jar prices from the catalogue pull of 24–25 September 2026; wick prices are Blog 760's, verified 10 September 2026, with packs rechecked on 25 September 2026. The splits, allowances and pack rounding are plain arithmetic.

The 10 backups, 4 tests, 3% loss and spare jars and wicks are working assumptions. The wax-per-ml figure used to read the 130 ml jar is an approximation, and the jar's fill weight is not published. No fragrance ceiling for Soy Pearl is quoted here. For IFRA certificates, MSDS, GST invoicing or a wedding-season quote, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.
