Candle Business Guides · Luxury Jar Candles
There is no coverage rating for a candle, and any supplier who gives you one in square feet has invented it. What is real and measurable is the area of the melt pool, the load your wax is rated to hold, and what happens in your own room when you burn the thing.
2.8×
the melt-pool area of a 10 cm jar against a 6 cm jar — 78.5 cm² versus 28.3 cm², from diameters CSI actually publishes · the only diffusion lever anyone can put a number on · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How big a jar do I need for a medium living room? Nobody can answer that in square feet, and a number like it does not exist on any CSI page. What you can do is buy pool area: a 10 cm jar releases fragrance from 78.5 cm² of open surface, a 6 cm jar from 28.3 cm². Then run the diffusion test in the actual room.

What is the decision order? Container, then wax, then fragrance and load, then wick, then dye. The jar fixes the diameter and the fill; the wax fixes the load ceiling; the oil often carries a lower ceiling of its own; the wick is chosen against all three and only ever by burn test.

What does a big premium candle cost to make? A 550 g candle in the Premium Glass Clip Top container with Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Sandalwood Fragrance Oil at 8% of wax weight comes to ₹751.58 of materials, including the jar and one wick.

One wide candle or two narrow ones? Two 7 cm candles give you 76.97 cm² of pool against 78.54 cm² for one 10 cm candle — effectively the same release area, in two places in the room, for ₹141.60 of glass instead of ₹229.
The short answer
Buy pool area, not a promise: fragrance leaves a candle from the surface of the melted wax. Widen the jar and you widen the release area — that is the one lever with arithmetic behind it. Everything else is a claim.
Work from jars that publish a diameter: only 18 of CSI's 78 listed jars and containers state a numeric dimension. If yours does not, measure the inside at the wax line with a ruler before you plan anything.
Wick last, and only by burn test: CSI lists two Eco cotton sizes — Thin (C1) and Thick (C2) — plus wooden wicks and two braided options. A wide jar is a bracket to test, never a size someone can post to you.
Melt-pool area by published diameter — the release surface you are actually buying 5.08 cm (2 inch) 20.3 cm² · Eco Wicks Loose state this diameter 6 cm jars 28.3 cm² · the 120 gm shiny jars 7 cm jars 38.5 cm² · 150 gm and 200 ml jars 8 cm threshold 50.3 cm² · the wick page's only figure 2 × 7 cm jars 76.97 cm² combined · two pools, two places in the room 10 cm jar 78.54 cm² · the widest diameter any CSI jar page states
Bar length is πr² for each stated diameter. The arithmetic is the honest part: area rises with the square of the radius, so a 4 cm jump in diameter multiplies the release surface by 2.8. What that does to your particular living room is a question only your own burn answers — and the same total area split into two candles behaves differently again.
Straight answer
How should I choose the jar diameter, wax, fragrance and wick for a premium candle meant to scent a living room?
Choose in that order, and replace the idea of "room coverage" with melt-pool area, because that is the only part of the question with arithmetic under it. Start with the container: the widest fill CSI publishes is the Premium Glass Clip Top container at ₹229, whose page states a 550 g wax fill and an 11 cm × 11 cm × 10 cm outside dimension; the widest stated diameter is the 10 cm of the Apothecary Glass Candle Jar, which is 78.54 cm² of open pool against 28.27 cm² for a 6 cm jar. Then the wax: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599 a kilo publish the highest ceiling in the range, 8–13% of total wax weight with 10% recommended, fragrance in at 80–90°C and a pour at 70–80°C. Then the oil and its own ceiling: Sandalwood Fragrance Oil states up to 10% for soy wax and a 203°C flash point, and 10% is the number you work to because the lower of the two ceilings always wins. Then the wick, last and only by test: a wide pool is a bracket — Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are the only CSI wick stated for "large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm", against a cluster of Eco Candle Wicks C2. At 510 g of wax and 40.8 g of oil the candle costs ₹751.58 in materials. The four-candle test that proves it costs ₹4,181.16.
One line: buy the widest pool you can wick safely, hold the load at the lower of the two stated ceilings, and let a two-hour burn in your own living room decide what no coverage rating can.
Building a large living-room candle? Premium Glass Clip Top container at ₹229 with a stated 550 g fill, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599/kg with a stated 13% ceiling, and Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made at ₹12 each — the three lines a wide candle actually needs.

Why no room-coverage number exists — and what to use instead

Every "fills a 400 sq ft room" claim you have read was written by a marketing team, not measured by anybody.

A candle does not have a coverage figure the way an air conditioner has a tonnage. Fragrance release from a burning candle depends on the area of the molten pool, the temperature of that pool, the molecular weight of the aroma chemicals in the oil, the load, how long the candle has cured, the ceiling height, the air movement, the humidity, whether a fan is on, whether a door is open and how tired your nose already is. Change the room and the same candle performs differently. Change the season and it performs differently again. There is no honest way to compress that into one number printed on a label, and CSI does not publish one on any product page — not on a wax, not on an oil, not on a jar.

So the useful question is not "how many square feet" but "what can I actually increase?" There are four things, and they have very different amounts of evidence behind them. The first is pool area, which is pure geometry and completely under your control. The second is load, which is bounded by two published ceilings and is therefore a short ladder, not a dial. The third is the oil's own character, which the product page describes in notes rather than numbers. The fourth is cure, which costs nothing and which the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page addresses directly: cure for a minimum of 48 hours and ideally one to two weeks before burn testing.

Only the first of those four is something you buy on the container page, which is why the container comes first in the decision order. A 10 cm jar commits you to a pool almost three times the area of a 6 cm jar before you have chosen a single other material — and it also commits you to a wicking problem that a 6 cm jar does not have. Both consequences arrive together, which is the whole reason the order matters.

The mistake: treating a big jar as a shortcut past the load ceiling. Makers who want a stronger candle often buy a wider jar and simultaneously push the oil to 12 or 13% because the wax page allows it. Then the oil page turns out to state up to 10% for soy wax, as Sandalwood's does, and the surplus has nowhere to go: it separates, sits on the surface and reaches the wick. Use the lower of the two ceilings, always. The mechanism is in can too much fragrance oil make a candle smell weaker and the ladder of everything else you can pull is in how to make candles smell strong without exceeding the safe fragrance load.

The published diameter ladder, converted into cm² of pool

CSI lists 78 jars and containers. Eighteen of them state a numeric dimension in the product description; the rest describe capacity, finish and lid and leave the measuring to you. The table below takes every stated diameter that is relevant to a premium container candle, converts it into pool area, and sets the per-jar price beside it so you can see what the area costs. Area is πr², so the jump from 7 cm to 10 cm looks small on a ruler and is enormous on the surface of the wax.

Stated diameters → pool area · CSI live pricing, September 2026
What each published jar diameter buys you in release surface, and what it costs per jar
Container Stated dimension Stated fill Pool area Price per jar ₹ per cm² of pool
Amber Shiny Glass Jar with Black Lid 6 cm diameter, 6.5 cm height 120 gm 28.27 cm² ₹47.20 ₹1.67
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid Height 8 cm, outer diameter 7 cm, base 6.5 cm 150 g 38.48 cm² ₹94.40 ₹2.45
Black Matte Glass Jar Height 8 cm, width 7 cm 200 ml (not grams) 38.48 cm² ₹70.80 ₹1.84
The 8 cm threshold (no jar states it) 8 cm — quoted on the Cotton Braided Wicks page, not a jar page — 50.27 cm² — The only diameter figure any CSI wick page names
Apothecary Glass Candle Jar with Dome Lid Outer rim 10 cm, base 10 cm, 10.8 cm tall without lid ~500 g – 700 g 78.54 cm² ₹212.40 ₹2.70
Premium Glass Clip Top Container 11 cm × 11 cm × 10 cm (outside) 550 g Measure the inside ₹229 Depends on your measurement
Worked out above: pool area = π × (stated diameter ÷ 2)². 6 cm → π × 3² = 28.27 cm². 7 cm → π × 3.5² = 38.48 cm². 8 cm → π × 4² = 50.27 cm². 10 cm → π × 5² = 78.54 cm². Price per jar: Amber Shiny ₹47.20 for one; Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid ₹944 ÷ 10 = ₹94.40; Black Matte ₹354 ÷ 5 = ₹70.80; Apothecary 500 gm ₹212.40; Clip Top ₹229. ₹ per cm² is the jar price divided by the pool area. Every dimension is quoted from the product description; the Clip Top page gives an outside dimension only, so its inside diameter is yours to measure.

Two honest observations fall out of that table. First, wide glass is not disproportionately expensive per cm² of pool — the Apothecary jar delivers 2.8 times the release area of the Amber Shiny jar for 4.5 times the price, which is a real premium but not a punitive one, and a 500 g candle carries it far more comfortably than a 120 g candle would. Second, the cheapest area on the list belongs to the 6 cm jar, which is exactly why small candles sell in multiples: if pool area is what you are buying, two or three small candles are a legitimate way to buy it.

200 ml is not 200 g
The Black Matte, White Matte, Clear Frosted and the rest of that 8 cm × 7 cm family all state capacity as a fill weight of 200 ml. Millilitres are volume; wax is sold by weight and soy is lighter than water. Do not convert one into the other and do not plan a production run on the result. Weigh one filled jar — pour it to your intended wax line, weigh it, subtract the empty jar, and use that figure for every calculation afterwards. The Candle Making Weighing Scale at ₹354 is the cheapest thing on this page and the one that makes every other number trustworthy.

The containers to build a living-room candle on

Three routes cover almost every version of this brief: one large candle, one wide candle, or a pair of mid-size candles placed apart. Each card shows the listed pack ladder and the per-piece price, so you can see what a four-candle test costs before you commit to a hundred.

1
Largest stated fill · one big candle
Reusuable Premium Glass Clip Top Airtight Glass Candle Container
The largest wax fill stated on any CSI container page: 550 g, in a vessel whose description gives an outside dimension of 11 cm × 11 cm × 10 cm and an airtight clip lid. For this brief it is the strongest single buy, because the fill weight is published rather than implied and because a clip-top seal is genuinely useful during the one-to-two-week cure. What the page does not give you is an inside diameter, so measure across the inside at your intended wax line before you plan the wick bracket — on a jar this size the difference between the outside and the inside is a real number, not a rounding error.

2
Widest published diameter · 78.54 cm² of pool
Apothecary Glass Candle Jar with Dome Lid (500 gm and 700 gm)
The only in-stock CSI jar whose page states a 10 cm diameter at both the rim and the base, with a fill capacity given as ~500 g – 700 g across two sizes and a stated hot-pour limit of 85°C. Its description calls it thick-walled with a broad base for wax stability. Ten centimetres puts you past the only diameter threshold CSI publishes on a wick page — the Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are stated for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm — which is useful, because it means one of your wick candidates is documented for the format rather than guessed at. Note that the page gives the same dimensions for both the 500 g and 700 g sizes, so confirm which you are buying.

Two pools instead of one · 76.97 cm² combined
Black Matte Glass Jar (8 cm × 7 cm, pack of 5)
The pair option, and for many living rooms the better one. Two of these give you 76.97 cm² of combined pool — within 2% of a single 10 cm jar — for ₹141.60 of glass against ₹229, and they can sit at opposite ends of the room instead of pushing fragrance out from one corner. The page states height 8 cm, width 7 cm and a fill weight of 200 ml, which is volume, not grams: weigh one filled jar before costing anything. The same 8 cm × 7 cm body is listed in matte white, frosted, brown, green, royal blue, maroon, orange, pink, purple and red, so a collection can share one wick test across ten colourways.
Size Price Per piece
Pack of 5 ₹354 ₹70.80
Pack of 10 ₹708 ₹70.80
₹70.80 per jar · ₹1.84 per cm² of pool Buy Black Matte jars
Do not choose a container on capacity alone. A 550 g fill in a tall narrow vessel and a 550 g fill in a broad shallow one are two completely different candles: same wax, same oil, same load, different pool area, different wick, different result. Capacity tells you what the candle costs to fill; diameter tells you how it performs and how hard it is to wick. If a page gives you only one of the two, the missing one is your job — and if it gives you neither, put a ruler and a scale on the jar before you buy fifty. The broader jar-selection logic is in the ultimate guide to choosing glass jars for candle making.

Wax and load: two ceilings, and the lower one wins

For a large premium container candle you want a wax with a published load ceiling, a published add temperature and a published pour temperature, because those three numbers are the difference between a test and a guess. Three CSI container waxes qualify. All the arithmetic on this page follows CSI's own wording — a percentage of total wax weight — and gives the finished-candle equivalent alongside it, because both conventions are in circulation and mixing them silently is how recipes drift.

Container waxes with published specifications · CSI live pricing, September 2026
What each wax states, and what 510 g of it costs inside one large candle
Wax 1 kg price Stated load ceiling Stated temperatures 510 g of wax Notes for a large candle
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹599 Up to 13% · 8–13% of total wax weight · 10% recommended Add 80–90°C · pour 70–80°C (75–80°C in the details table) ₹305.49 The widest stated range in the range, and a stated cure of minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks
Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 ₹650 Up to 13% Melt 50–53°C · pour 58–60°C ₹331.50 Stated for single-pour container use; a much lower pour band, so your timing changes
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 ₹507.40 Up to 10% Page states melt and pour both at 80–90°C ₹258.77 Lowest cost of the three with a published ceiling; the ceiling is also the lowest
Eco Soy CSI 400 ₹399 Not stated Add fragrance at 80–90°C (85°C), stir 2 minutes ₹203.49 No stated ceiling, so hold at 8% and prove it before going up

Now the load itself. Take Sandalwood Fragrance Oil, whose page states up to 10% for soy wax with a cure of 48–72 hours, up to 6% for paraffin, and a flash point of 203°C. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state up to 13%. The two disagree, so the working ceiling for that pair is 10% — the oil's number, because it is the lower one. A silent page is not permission either: Apple Cinnamon states 6–10% for soy wax candles, which is a lower ceiling still, and Eco Soy CSI 400 states nothing at all, which means 8% and a burn test rather than a free hand.

1
Fix the fill by weighing, not by readingPour water or melted wax to your intended line, weigh it, and write the number down. For the Clip Top container the page states 550 g, which is the figure this guide builds on. For the 200 ml jars there is no gram figure at all, so the weighed number is the specification.
2
Split the fill into wax and oil at 8% of wax weight550 g ÷ 1.08 = 509.26 g of wax, and 8% of that is 40.74 g of oil. Round to 510 g of wax and 40.8 g of oil for a 550.8 g candle. On the finished-candle convention the same candle reads as 7.41% — which is why the convention has to be stated rather than assumed.
3
Melt, add at the stated temperature, stir for two full minutesThe Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page states fragrance in at 80–90°C. Two minutes of stirring is what the Eco Soy CSI 400 page specifies and it is sound practice on any soy: it dissolves the oil rather than dispersing it. Log the thermometer reading you actually saw, not the target.
4
Pour in the stated band and leave it alone70–80°C for the Chunks. A 510 g pour cools much more slowly than a 120 g pour, so keep the jars away from draughts and do not move them for several hours — uneven cooling across a 10 cm surface is far more visible than across a 6 cm one.
5
Cure with the lid on for one to two weeksThe wax page states a minimum of 48 hours and ideally one to two weeks before burn testing. A large candle is an expensive thing to judge early. Fourteen to twenty-one days is the standard practice this corpus uses; see why your candle needs a 14-day cure.
6
Only now choose between the wick candidatesEverything above is fixed before the wick question is even asked, because the wick is chosen against the diameter, the wax and the oil together. Change any of the three later and the wick has to be re-tested.
The CSI principle
You cannot buy room coverage. You can buy square centimetres of melt pool, and then you have to earn the rest.
Pool area is geometry, load is a published ceiling, cure is free, and the wick is a test. Those four are the entire honest toolkit for a living-room candle. Anything sold to you as a coverage rating is somebody's estimate wearing a number's clothes.

The wick bracket for a wide jar — and why nobody can post you a size

A supplier who names your wick without seeing your candle burn is guessing in a confident voice.

Here is the honest state of the published information. Across CSI's whole wick range, exactly two pages state a diameter. Eco Candle Wicks Loose are "designed specifically for 2 inch diameters" — 5.08 cm, or 20.27 cm² of pool. Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm", with a stated wick height of 10.16 cm. Everything between 5.08 cm and 8 cm is unpublished territory, and the workhorse Eco Candle Wicks page states no diameter at all — C1 and C2 exist only as Thin and Thick variant names.

That is not a gap to paper over with a table. It is the reason every post in this series hands you a bracket and a test instead of a size. And it is worth knowing that the fragrance pages say the same thing in their own words: seven CSI oil pages carry a wick recommendation, and each one ends the same way. Verbena: "Cotton, Eco wicks or wooden wicks for steady, even burn. Test wick size based on container diameter." Ylang Ylang: "Test wick size to suit container dimensions." That is the manufacturer's own instruction, and it is the correct one.

The wick bracket for a wide premium candle · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Every candidate worth putting in a wide jar, what its page states, and what it costs per candle
Candidate What the page states about size Smallest pack Per wick Why it is in the bracket
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made "Engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm"; wick height 10.16 cm Pack of 10 ₹120 ₹12 The only CSI wick documented for this diameter class — start here
Eco Candle Wicks · Thick (C2) No diameter stated; C2 is a variant name only 20 wicks ₹188.80 ₹9.44 The single-wick comparison, and the building block if you go multi-wick
Eco Braided Wicks (5 meter) "The perfect solution for large diameter container jars" — no number 5 metres ₹472 Cut to length Sold by length, so you set the wick height; no numeric diameter published
Performance Wooden Wicks No diameter stated; 10 wicks and tabs per pack Pack of 10 ₹590 ₹59 A different wick type, not a different size — a genuinely separate candidate
Eco Candle Wicks Loose "Designed specifically for 2 inch diameters" (5.08 cm) 5 metres ₹413 Cut to length Published as too small for this job — useful as the lower bound of the bracket

Two structural facts about the CSI range shape this bracket. CSI lists two Eco cotton sizes — C1 and C2 — plus wooden wicks, so if you want a third candidate it has to be a different wick type or a different construction, not a third cotton size that does not exist. And because only two pages publish a diameter, the bracket is genuinely a bracket: you buy two or three candidates, pour identical candles, burn them side by side and keep the one that behaves. On a large candle that is a cheap insurance policy — ₹12 to ₹59 of wick sitting inside ₹750 of materials.

One wick, or several, is also part of the bracket
A 78.54 cm² pool can be served by one large wick or by two or three smaller ones placed apart, and those are different candles with different failure modes. If you are considering more than one wick, the spacing arithmetic and the test belong together — start with one wick or two for a 300 g candle and the three-wick spacing method in the 500 g three-wick build.

The diffusion test — the only honest answer to "will it fill my living room?"

This is the part the question was really asking, and it is the part only you can run. It takes one evening per candidate and it produces a score you can compare across wicks, loads and jar sizes for the rest of your brand's life. Do it in the room you are actually selling into, because a living room with a 10-foot ceiling and an open kitchen is not the same acoustic space for fragrance as a closed 10 × 12 bedroom.

1
Measure and write down the roomLength, width, ceiling height, and whether it opens into another space. Note the fan and air-conditioning state and keep it identical for every candidate. A diffusion result without the room written next to it is not data.
2
Mark three standing positionsOne metre from the candle, at the middle of the room, and at the far corner or doorway. Use tape. You will return to these exact spots for every candle you ever test, which is what makes the scores comparable.
3
Burn one cured candidate for two hours and score at fixed timesAt 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes, walk in from outside the room, stand at each mark and score intensity 1–5. Coming in from outside matters: your nose adapts within minutes, and a score taken while sitting in the room is a score of your own fatigue.
4
Record the pool alongside the smellAt each interval note how far the melt pool has reached across the diameter and whether it has touched the glass. Pool area is release area, so a candle that scores poorly at 60 minutes and has only melted half its width has a wick problem, not a fragrance problem.
5
Repeat with the next candidate on a different daySame room, same marks, same times, same fan state. Never burn two candidates in the same room on the same evening — the second one is being scored through the first one's residue.
6
Ask two other people to do the same walk-inWrite their scores down separately. Fragrance perception varies enormously between individuals, and a brand decision taken on one nose is a brand decision taken on a sample of one.
The mistake: judging diffusion before the cure is finished. A candle burned at day two smells like a different product from the same candle at day fourteen, and on a large jar the difference is bigger because there is more wax holding more oil. If you score a candidate early and reject it, you have rejected the cure, not the recipe. Burn one of each pair at day 7 and the other at day 14 and you will see the size of the effect on your own materials. How much it varies by fragrance family is set out in how cure time changes the smell of different fragrance families.
Test passed? Luxury Soy Wax Chunks list at ₹2,995 for 5 kg and ₹5,999 for 10 kg, and Sandalwood Fragrance Oil holds a flat ₹5,026.80 per kilo from the 100 gm pack upwards. One kilogram is the largest listed fragrance pack — above that, and for recurring orders, pricing, GST invoicing and documentation are handled on WhatsApp.

The per-candle figure is the one to carry forward. One 550 g candle takes 510 g of wax at ₹0.599 per gram = ₹305.49, 40.8 g of Sandalwood at ₹5.0268 per gram = ₹205.09, the ₹229 jar and a ₹12 Cotton Braided wick: ₹751.58 of materials, or ₹9.57 per cm² of pool if your measured inside diameter comes out at 10 cm. Swap to the pair of Black Matte jars and the glass and wick lines fall to ₹141.60 and ₹18.88 for effectively the same 76.97 cm² — but you are now pouring two candles, weighing two fills, and testing two wicks, and the wax and oil cost depends entirely on what those 200 ml jars weigh when you fill them.

Do not buy the 500 gm Sandalwood pack for a four-candle test. Sandalwood's listed per-gram price is flat at ₹5.0268 from the 100 gm pack all the way to 1 kg — ₹502.68, ₹2,513.40 and ₹5,026.80 respectively. There is no per-gram saving waiting in the bigger bottle, so buying 500 g to make 163 g of candles ties up ₹1,508 for nothing. At 50 gm the rate is ₹5.428 and at 15 gm it is ₹6.215, so the 100 gm pack is the efficient size for a test of this shape. Above 1 kg there is no listed pack at all: that is a WhatsApp quote, and the listed per-kilo price is the ceiling to negotiate down from, never a figure we will state for you in advance.
The jar is the only part of a candle whose contribution to fragrance you can calculate before you light it.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We have never burned your candle in your living room, which is exactly why this page refuses to give you a coverage number. It would be easy to print "fills 400 sq ft" next to the widest jar we sell and easier still to sell you the 700 gm size on the strength of it. What we can do honestly is publish the diameters our jar pages state, convert them into pool area, quote the load ceilings our wax and oil pages state, and hand you a test protocol that produces an answer for your room rather than an average of somebody else's.

Every price, pack and dimension here comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, which is always authoritative on price and availability. Jar dimensions, fill capacities, load ceilings and temperatures are quoted only where the description states them, and where a page is silent — inside diameters on the Clip Top container, fill weight in grams on the 200 ml jars, any diameter at all on the Eco Candle Wicks page — this guide says so rather than filling the gap. Load ceilings are wax and fragrance formulation limits, not regulatory limits, and the lower of the two always governs.

Frequently asked questions

What size candle do I need for a medium-sized living room?
There is no published answer, at CSI or anywhere, because fragrance release depends on pool area, load, cure, the oil's own character and the room's air movement. What you can buy is pool area: a 10 cm jar gives 78.54 cm² of release surface against 28.27 cm² from a 6 cm jar. Pick the widest jar you can wick safely, hold the load at the lower stated ceiling, cure fully, then run the diffusion test in that exact room.
Is one large candle better than two smaller ones for a big room?
On area alone they are equivalent: two 7 cm jars give 76.97 cm² against 78.54 cm² for one 10 cm jar. The differences are practical. Two candles cost less in glass — ₹141.60 against ₹229 — can be placed apart so the room fills more evenly, and are wicked with a size you may already have proven. One candle is a stronger object to sell, cures once, and needs only one wick test. Test both.
Which wick should I use in a 10 cm jar?
Nobody can tell you without burning it. CSI publishes a diameter on only two wick pages: Eco Candle Wicks Loose for 2 inch (5.08 cm) diameters and Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm. So start Cotton Braided at ₹12 a wick, put Eco C2 at ₹9.44 and a wooden wick at ₹59 beside it, pour identical candles and keep the one that reaches the glass cleanly. Seven CSI fragrance pages give the same instruction: test wick size against your container.
How much fragrance oil goes into a 550 g candle?
At 8% of total wax weight — the convention CSI's wax pages use — a 550 g fill is 510 g of wax and 40.8 g of oil, which reads as 7.41% of the finished candle on the other convention. The ceiling is whichever is lower of the wax page and the oil page: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state up to 13%, Sandalwood states up to 10% for soy wax, so 10% is your maximum and 8% is a sensible first test.
What does the widest CSI jar cost, and what does the finished candle cost to make?
The Premium Glass Clip Top container is ₹229 with a stated 550 g fill; the Apothecary jar is ₹212.40 at the 500 gm size with a stated 10 cm diameter. Filled with Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Sandalwood at 8%, the Clip Top candle is ₹751.58 of materials — ₹305.49 of wax, ₹205.09 of oil, ₹229 of glass and ₹12 of wick. That is materials only: labour, packaging, labels and your margin sit on top.
The jar says 200 ml. How much wax does it hold?
The page does not say, and the two are not interchangeable — millilitres measure volume and wax is bought by weight. Weigh one filled jar. Pour to your intended wax line, weigh it, subtract the empty jar, and use that number for every calculation afterwards. Only a handful of CSI jar pages state a gram fill, and 18 of 78 state a numeric dimension, so a ₹354 scale and a ruler are what turn a jar listing into a specification.

CSI publishes no room-coverage rating, no burn-time figure and no hot-throw measurement, and none is used or implied here. One kilogram is the largest listed fragrance pack; larger volumes and recurring orders are quoted on WhatsApp, and the listed per-kilo price is the ceiling.
