I Want to Make 100 Sculptural Bubble Candles for a Wedding Order — What Wax, Wick and Silicone Mould Materials Do I Need?
Aktie
Which wax should I test first? Soy Pillar Wax and Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets. Both are listed for pillar and mould work. Container waxes such as CSI 464 are made for jars, not free-standing shapes.
How much wax for 100 bubbles? Weigh one real wax fill of your mould. At 130 g each, 100 pieces need 13 kg; a suggested 10% allowance for tests and rejects takes it to 14.3 kg, so buy 15 kg.
Which wick for a bubble candle? Thread a length from the Braided Wick Roll through the mould's wick hole and test it. CSI publishes no wick sizing chart, so the burn test decides.
Start with the mould you will actually use
Let us be clear first: CSI does not list a bubble mould. The cube-of-spheres shape you have seen at weddings comes from a silicone mould you source yourself. What we can supply is everything that goes into it — the wax, the wick, the dye and, if you want one, the fragrance oil.
Your mould shapes the whole order. Three things matter before you buy any wax. First, the real fill weight: pour melted wax into one cavity and weigh it, because a water fill overstates it (solid wax is lighter than water for the same volume). Second, the wick hole: most bubble moulds have a small hole at the top of the cavity for the wick, and the candle is poured base-up. Third, the number of cavities: one mould gives you one candle per pour and cool, so 100 pieces from a single mould is a long fortnight.
For this page the worked example uses a mould whose real wax fill weighs 130 g. Put your own figure in its place and every quantity below scales.
Which CSI wax holds a bubble shape
A bubble must stand on its own with crisp spheres and no slumped edges. That rules out the container waxes. CSI 464, the Chunks, CSI 468, Pearl and CSI 400 are made to sit inside a jar; they are softer by design, and a free-standing bubble poured in them tends to feel greasy and lose definition.
Two CSI waxes are listed for pillar and mould work. Soy Pillar Wax is soy chunks made for pillar and designer mould candles, at ₹600.00 per kg in every pack size. CSI publishes no melt point or fragrance load for it, so you judge it by how your bubbles release and stand. Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets are listed for pillars and containers at ₹354.00 per kg; paraffin generally shrinks away from silicone cleanly and takes colour vividly.
Release matters as much as stance. Silicone bubble moulds peel away from the wax rather than letting it slide out, so a wax that sets firm and slightly shrinks gives cleaner spheres. If a test piece tears at the deepest crease, leave the next one longer before peeling, and peel the mould back over itself rather than pulling the candle out by its base or wick.
Which wins depends on what the couple has asked for. A soy story suits a natural, matte, ivory look. Paraffin suits saturated wedding colours and a smoother sheen. Do not decide from a description — pour both.
| Element | Option A | Option B | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mould | Your own silicone bubble mould | Same | CSI does not list bubble moulds |
| Wax | Soy Pillar Wax | Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets | Pour both in the same mould |
| Wax cost per piece | 130 g × ₹0.60 = ₹78.00 | 130 g × ₹0.354 = ₹46.02 | From ₹600.00 and ₹354.00 per kg |
| Wick | Braided Wick Roll, cut length | Same | Test burn; no size chart is published |
| Wick cost per piece | 0.10 m × ₹11.59 = ₹1.16 | Same | ₹706.82 ÷ 61 m = ₹11.59 per metre |
| Wax + wick | ₹79.16 | ₹47.18 | Excludes dye, scent and packaging |
Wicking a shape that is wider at the bottom than the top
A bubble burns from a narrow top sphere into a wider body. The wick has to be strong enough to keep a melt pool going as the candle widens, yet not so strong that the thin outer spheres collapse and leak while the centre is still solid.
For threaded moulds, the practical choice is the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs: 61 metres for ₹706.82, which works out at ₹706.82 ÷ 61 = ₹11.59 per metre. You cut each length, push it through the cavity's wick hole, tab or knot it at what will be the base, and hold it straight with a Bamboo Wick Holder (set of 5, ₹118.00) across the open end. A suggested 10 cm per candle covers a short bubble plus enough to grip; 100 pieces use 10 m, so one roll covers the order and your tests.
If your mould pours base-up with an open base and no top hole, a pre-tabbed wick such as Eco C1 (₹5.90 each) or Eco C2 (₹9.44 each) can be pressed into the setting wax instead. CSI does not publish wick dimensions, burn rate or melt-pool width for any of these, so treat every option as a candidate to burn-test, not an answer.
Scent, colour and finish for a wedding table
Many wedding bubble candles are left unscented on purpose: dozens of scented pieces on dinner tables can overpower the room. If the couple wants a scent, keep it gentle and test it. Sandalwood is one CSI oil whose page states a pillar range (up to 6% for paraffin and pillars, phrased as a share of wax weight). A suggested starting point of 5% of total candle weight in a 130 g bubble is 6.5 g oil and 123.5 g wax, which adds 6.5 g × ₹5.0268 = ₹32.67 per piece from the 1 kg pack at ₹5,026.80.
For colour, Candle Dye Chips (₹236.00–₹250.00 per pack) or Candle Dye Liquid (from ₹236.00 for 15 g/ml) work in both waxes; the dye page notes colour looks lighter in soy and more vivid in paraffin. CSI publishes no dosage per kg, so make a small colour card first. Dye affects the burn, so add it to your wick tests, not after them. Mica can be brushed onto the outer surface for shimmer, kept well away from the wick.
Buy this to test, buy this once validated
Buy this to test: Soy Pillar Wax 1 kg ₹600.00, Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets 1 kg ₹354.00, Braided Wick Roll ₹706.82, Pen Thermometer ₹354.00 and a Bamboo Wick Holder set of 5 at ₹118.00. That is ₹600.00 + ₹354.00 + ₹706.82 + ₹354.00 + ₹118.00 = ₹2,132.82, plus your own mould.
Buy this once validated: at 130 g, 100 × 130 g = 13 kg, and a suggested 10% allowance brings it to 14.3 kg. In Soy Pillar Wax that is the 10 kg pack at ₹6,000.00 plus the 5 kg pack at ₹3,000.00 = ₹9,000.00. In paraffin it is fifteen 1 kg packs: 15 × ₹354.00 = ₹5,310.00. The wick roll you bought for testing already covers production. All figures here leave out packaging, labels, labour, shipping and GST, which you add from your own costs.
If the couple chooses a scent, the scented version in Soy Pillar Wax becomes 123.5 g × ₹0.60 = ₹74.10 of wax, ₹32.67 of Sandalwood and ₹1.16 of wick, so ₹107.93 per bubble before dye. Production oil is then 100 × 6.5 g = 650 g, which means the 1 kg pack at ₹5,026.80 rather than a 500 g pack that would leave you short. Test the 15 g pack at ₹93.22 first.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and production equipment, not finished candles. This guide separates general candle-making practice from what CSI's own product pages state, says plainly where CSI publishes no figure (wick sizes, burn times, hardness), and labels every wick, load, test count or margin as a starting point for your own validation.
Prices are live CSI prices from October 2026; product pages are authoritative. Where a spec is not published — such as a wick size for your jar, a mould's cycle life or a wax's survival temperature — this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Assumptions: Fragrance load is a percentage of total candle weight (200 g = 184 g wax + 16 g oil at 8%); CSI wax pages phrase their ceilings as a share of wax weight. Material cost per candle covers wax, oil, vessel, wick and dye only — it excludes packaging, labels, labour, shipping and GST. CSI publishes no wick sizing chart, burn times or wax survival temperatures, so every wick named is a candidate to test.
