Candle Supplier Guides · Costing
The largest saving each line can give, what it costs you in something other than money, and three routes that reach your target — on a real candle that comes to your figure.
₹40.00
to find, on a ₹220.00 candle · 18.18% of it · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which component offers the biggest realistic saving? The fragrance, at ₹23.41 — moving from Woody Oud at ₹4.53 a gram to Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹3.07. It is also the only change that makes it a different product. The wax is next at ₹21.68, the jar pack at ₹10.62 and the wick at ₹0.00.

Can any single component cover the whole ₹40.00? No. The largest single saving on this candle is ₹23.41, which is 58.5% of your gap. Every route that reaches ₹180.00 moves at least two lines, and the routes that keep your scent all move the wax.

What can I save without changing a single material? ₹10.62, by buying the same 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar in its 50-piece pack at ₹29.50 instead of its 5-piece pack at ₹40.12. That takes the candle to ₹209.38, which is still ₹29.38 above your target. The wax and wick ladders give nothing further.

What does the cheapest route actually cost me? Changing wax, oil and jar pack together takes the candle to ₹164.29, ₹15.71 under target. The price is a new wax whose pour and cure you must re-establish, a scent your repeat customers did not buy, and a fifty-jar commitment. Change one at a time and keep a sample of each.
The short answer
₹40.00 is 18.18% of the candle: At that size something the customer can perceive has to change. The largest single saving available is ₹23.41 from a lower-rate fragrance oil.
Only the jar pack is free: The same 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar in its 50-piece pack saves ₹10.62 and changes nothing. It leaves you ₹29.38 still to find.
The wax or the fragrance carries the cut: Wax grade is ₹21.68, the fragrance rate is ₹23.41, and the wick line in total is ₹5.90. Packaging is not a CSI cost and is left blank throughout.

What it shows: four routes from the ₹220.00 candle this page costs, drawn as what each one still costs per candle against your ₹180.00 target, on live CSI pricing in September 2026. Changing nothing material misses by ₹29.38; the three routes that clear the line each move at least two components. Deliberately left out: labels, boxes, ribbon, inserts, outbound courier, gateway fees, electricity and your own hours — CSI sells none of them, so this page puts no figure on them, and for a gifting candle they may be where your saving actually is.
Straight answer
Which of wax, fragrance, jar or packaging offers the biggest realistic saving on a ₹220.00 candle that has to reach ₹180.00?
The fragrance, then the wax — and not the jar or the wick. Your gap of ₹40.00 is 18.18% of the candle, which is why no housekeeping answer exists. On a real candle that comes to ₹220.00 at September 2026 CSI pricing — 200 g of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40 a kilogram, 16.00 g of Woody Oud at ₹4.53 a gram, a 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar at ₹40.12 in the 5-piece pack and an Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 — the maxima are: fragrance rate ₹23.41 by moving to Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹3.07 a gram; wax grade ₹21.68 by moving to Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00 a kilogram; fragrance load ₹18.12 by going to 6%, the bottom of the range the oil page states for soy; the vessel ₹10.62 by buying the identical jar in its 50-piece pack; and the wick ₹0.00, because nothing on the store is cheaper. Packaging is the fourth candidate in your question and the one this page cannot price: CSI does not sell labels, boxes, ribbon or inserts, so that line stays blank for your own quotations — and on a gifting candle it is often where the ₹40.00 really is. What the arithmetic settles is that changing nothing material leaves you at ₹209.38, still ₹29.38 short, so the cut has to be carried by the wax or the fragrance. Keeping the scent — wax grade, jar pack and a point of load — reaches ₹178.64. Keeping the wax — a lower-rate oil, jar pack and a point of load — reaches ₹179.83. Changing both, at the full 8% load, reaches ₹164.29. Pick by what you are least attached to, run it as a test batch with a full cure, and change one thing at a time.
One line: Fragrance ₹23.41, wax ₹21.68, jar ₹10.62, wick ₹0.00 — and nothing material leaves you at ₹209.38.
₹40.00 is 18.18% of your candle, and no one line on it is big enough. On a real, buyable candle that comes to ₹220.00 at September 2026 pricing, the largest saving available from the wax is ₹21.68, from the fragrance rate ₹23.41, from the jar ₹10.62 and from the wick ₹0.00. Two of those have to move together, and this page names what each one costs you.

What ₹40.00 is, as a share of the candle you have

Forty rupees off two hundred and twenty is not a trim. It is a redesign with a budget attached.

Your figures are ₹220.00 to make and ₹180.00 to reach, which is ₹40.00, or 18.18% of the candle. That percentage is the number to hold on to, because it is what separates this question from the ordinary trimming exercise. A few rupees can usually be found in rates and housekeeping without touching the product. Eighteen per cent cannot. Something the customer can see, smell or hold is going to change, and the useful work is deciding which thing, deliberately, rather than discovering it in a burn test.

To make that decision checkable rather than theoretical, this page costs a real candle that happens to land on your figure. On live CSI pricing in September 2026, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40 a kilogram, Woody Oud at ₹4.53 a gram, a 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar bought in the 5-piece pack and an Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) come to ₹220.00. Your own candle is almost certainly composed differently — a dearer jar, a cheaper oil, a heavier pour — but every rupee below can be traced to a product page, which is more use than a made-up breakdown of somebody else's ₹220.00.

State the fill reading, because the whole sheet moves with it: this page uses 200 g of wax plus 16.00 g of oil at 8% of wax weight, so 216.00 g goes into the jar. If your ₹220.00 is a 200 g finished candle rather than 200 g of wax, your wax and oil lines are both a little smaller than these and every saving below scales down with them.

The CSI principle
At eighteen per cent, you are not cutting cost. You are choosing what to give up.
The largest single saving on this candle is ₹23.41, and it is the one that makes it a different product.

The most each line can realistically give, and what it costs

Four maxima, four consequences. Read the right-hand column before the middle one.

"Realistic" is doing a lot of work in your question, so here is how this page defines it: the cheapest in-stock CSI option that a working maker would actually pour, not the cheapest number on the store. The maximum on the wax line is Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00 a kilogram, which is the lowest rate among the soy container waxes in stock. The maximum on the fragrance line, holding the load where it is, is a lower-rate oil — Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹3.07 a gram. The maximum on the vessel is the same jar in its 50-piece pack. And the maximum on the wick is nothing at all.

Packaging Your figure Your figure Your figure Not a CSI cost — see the blanks below
Priced above: Eco Soy CSI 400 1 kg ₹399.00 (₹399.00/kg), 5 kg ₹1,996.00; Eucalyptus Spearmint 1 kg ₹3,068.00 (₹3.07/g), the page stating IFRA certification, 0% vanillin, a flash point of 199°C and soy use up to 10% of total wax weight; 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar 50 Pcs ₹1,475.00 (₹29.50 a jar). Live CSI pricing, September 2026, taxes included. The 6% row uses the bottom of the soy range the Woody Oud page states. The packaging row is deliberately blank: CSI does not sell labels, boxes, ribbon or inserts, so no figure for them appears anywhere on this page.

Three things in that table are worth saying out loud. The fragrance rate is the single biggest saving at ₹23.41, and it is also the only one that changes what your customer bought — the two oils are a warm oriental and a clean herbal spa scent, and the pages describe their strengths differently, so this is a product decision dressed as a costing one. The vessel saving is the only free one: ₹10.62 for buying the identical jar in a larger pack. And the wick is not a lever — the whole line is ₹5.90, under a sixth of your gap, and every alternative on the store costs more than it.

Treating a smaller vessel as a cost saving. A Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram at ₹31.86 looks ₹8.26 cheaper than the 5-piece rate on your current jar, and its page states a capacity of about 70 g of wax fill. That is not ₹8.26 off your candle — it is a different, smaller candle with less wax and less fragrance in it, which will not sell at the price the old one did. Downsizing is a legitimate response to a cost problem, but price it as a new product with its own selling price, not as a line edit on this one.
Cutting the load and leaving the wick where it was. Dropping from 8% to 6% takes ₹18.12 out of the candle, which is nearly half your gap, and it changes how the wax burns as well as how it smells. Fragrance oil affects melt pool behaviour, so a wick that was correct at 8% may tunnel or mushroom at 6%. Re-test the burn before the batch goes out, and give it a proper cure — the Woody Oud page states 48 to 72 hours, and soy throw keeps developing well past that, so 14 to 21 days is the standard practice before judging a container candle.

Three routes to ₹180.00, and what each one costs you

No single line reaches the target. Every route that does gives up at least one thing.

Start with the route that changes no material at all, because it settles the question quickly. Buy the same jar in the 50-piece pack and the candle goes from ₹220.00 to ₹209.38. That is the whole of what is available without changing a single ingredient, and it is ₹29.38 above your target. The wax pack ladder adds nothing here — Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is already at its lowest rate of ₹507.40 a kilogram in the 1 kg pack and stays there at 5 kg and 10 kg — and the wick ladder adds nothing anywhere.

From there the honest routes are three, and they differ in what they sacrifice rather than in how clever they are.

Three routes · live CSI pricing, September 2026
From ₹220.00 to under ₹180.00, three ways
Route What moves Total cut New cost per candle What you keep What you lose
Keep the scent Wax to Eco Soy CSI 400 ₹21.68 · jar to the 50-piece pack ₹10.62 · load 8% to 7% ₹9.06 ₹41.36 ₹178.64 The fragrance your customers recognise A wax you have burn-tested, and one point of load

Change nothing material Jar to the 50-piece pack ₹10.62 ₹10.62 ₹209.38 Everything Nothing — and it misses by ₹29.38
Priced above: all four rows are built from Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg or Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00/kg, Woody Oud at ₹4.53/g or Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹3.07/g, the 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar at ₹40.12 or ₹29.50 a jar, and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90, all at 200 g of wax. Live CSI pricing, September 2026, taxes included. The 7% rows keep 14.00 g of oil instead of 16.00 g; both oils' pages state soy ranges that contain 7%. No packaging, label, box, courier or labour figure is in any total.

Read the last row first. Doing nothing to the materials misses by ₹29.38. That is the answer to "which component offers the biggest realistic saving" in its strictest form: none of them, alone, and not the jar or the wick at all. Two of the three working routes lean on the wax or the fragrance for more than half the cut, which means the component that has to carry your cut is whichever of those two you are least attached to.

The cheapest candle you can make is rarely the one you were making.

Two honest cautions about that column. CSI does not publish a fragrance-load maximum for Eco Soy CSI 400, so on this pairing the Eucalyptus Spearmint page's stated soy figure of up to 10% of total wax weight is the only published limit — 8% sits inside it, and the wax ceiling is a question for WhatsApp rather than a number to assume. And the Eco Soy CSI 400 page gives fragrance addition at 85°C within an 80 to 90°C window with a gentle two-minute stir and a direct pour, which is a different routine from the one you have; the page says the wax needs no additives and recommends Eco Wicks.

BUY THE SMALL PACK OF THE NEW OIL FIRST
Eucalyptus Spearmint is ₹3.54 a gram in the 100 gm pack at ₹354.00 and ₹3.07 a gram in the kilogram at ₹3,068.00. The rate is ₹0.47 a gram better in the kilogram, which is ₹7.55 a candle — worth having, but not worth committing ₹2,714.00 more to a scent your customers have not smelled yet. Pour the 100 gm pack, sell them, then buy the kilogram.

Packaging, the line this page will not price

It is in your question, it is often the answer, and no honest number for it exists here.

Your question names four candidates and this page can only price three of them. CSI sells wax, fragrance oil, vessels and wicks. It does not sell labels, outer boxes, ribbon, tissue, inserts, shrink wrap or mailers, so there is no CSI figure for any of them and nothing here will invent one. That is not a small omission — for a gifting candle the printed box and the ribbon are frequently the second largest line on the sheet after the fragrance, and they are the line with the shortest path from a decision to a saving.

So fill the table below with your own quotations before you conclude that the wax has to change. A rigid printed box replaced with a kraft mailer and a sticker, a foiled label replaced with a single-colour one, a ribbon dropped entirely: those decisions are yours, they are reversible, and none of them alters what is in the jar. If they close half your gap, the material changes above become a choice rather than a necessity.

Your own lines · not CSI costs
The rest of the ₹220.00, which only you can price
Line Why it is blank Your figure
Printed label Not a CSI product —
Outer box, mailer, insert, void fill Not a CSI product —
Ribbon, tag, tissue, seal Not a CSI product —
Courier to your own customer CSI publishes rates for delivering to you, not for your outbound parcels —
Payment gateway or marketplace fee Not a CSI product and varies by platform —

Wastage allowance An assumption until you have weighed a batch, not data —
Materials from CSI, as it stands The four lines above ₹220.00
Materials from CSI, recosted Wax, oil and jar pack changed ₹164.29
Priced above: only the two materials rows, from the live CSI ladders already cited. Every other row is deliberately empty and should stay empty until you have a quotation of your own. Do not write a typical figure into a blank — a guess that travels into a selling price is worse than an admitted gap, and on packaging the guesses are usually wrong by more than the ₹40.00 you are chasing.

Which component has to carry the cut

On these figures, the wax or the fragrance. The jar helps; the wick cannot.

Ranked by rupees alone, the order is fragrance rate ₹23.41, wax grade ₹21.68, fragrance load ₹18.12, vessel pack ₹10.62, wick ₹0.00. Ranked by what they cost you, the order reverses almost exactly: the vessel pack is free, the wax grade costs you a requalification, the load costs you throw, and the fragrance costs you the product. There is no arrangement of those five in which the jar or the wick carries a ₹40.00 cut, and no arrangement in which you reach the target without touching the wax or the oil.

1
1. Take the free saving first and re-measure the gapMove to the 50-piece pack of the jar you already use: ₹10.62, no consequence, and the candle is ₹209.38. Your remaining gap is ₹29.38, not ₹40.00. Every decision after this is made against the smaller number, which changes which compromises look necessary.
2
2. Get packaging quotations before you touch the jar's contentsLabels, boxes and ribbon are not CSI costs and this page has no figure for them, but they are yours to change this week without a burn test. Price two alternatives, put the numbers in the blank table above, and only then decide how much of the remaining ₹29.38 the materials have to find.
3
3. Decide between the wax and the scent, deliberatelyThe wax route keeps the fragrance your repeat customers bought and saves ₹21.68; the fragrance route keeps a wax and a pour you already trust and saves ₹23.41. Whichever you pick, pick it as a product decision and write down why, so that the next cost review does not quietly take the other one as well.
4
4. Run the change as a test batch with a full curePour a small batch on the new specification, cure it properly — the Eucalyptus Spearmint page states 48 to 72 hours, and 14 to 21 days is the standard practice before judging a soy container candle — and burn one from the middle of the batch. Only then move the costing to the new number. A repoured batch costs considerably more than ₹40.00 a candle.

One last word on the number you started with. ₹220.00 to ₹180.00 may be a margin problem rather than a cost problem, and the arithmetic on this page is silent about which. What this page will not do is tell you what to charge; that decision, and the tax position behind it, belongs to you and your adviser. What it can tell you is that ₹40.00 out of a candle built like this one is reachable, it is reachable in at least three ways, and every one of them costs you something your customer can perceive. Choose which, rather than letting the spreadsheet choose for you.

Taking every saving at once and calling the result the same candle. Wax, oil and jar pack together take the candle to ₹164.29, which is ₹15.71 under target and looks like a triumph on a sheet. It is also a new wax, a new scent and a fifty-jar commitment arriving in the same week, with nothing isolated if the burn test disappoints. Change one thing per batch, keep a sample of each, and label the jars — the ₹55.71 is still there next month, and a diagnosis you can trust is not.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells the wax, the fragrance oil, the jars and the wicks on this page, and the page still tells you that the fourth candidate in your question — packaging — is not a CSI product, carries no figure here, and is frequently where the ₹40.00 actually is on a gifting candle. It also tells you that the wick line cannot be cut at all, that the only free saving on the sheet is ₹10.62 for buying the same jar in a larger pack, and that the ₹55.71 available from changing everything at once should be taken one change at a time, because a batch you cannot diagnose costs more than the saving.

Every CSI price here is live stock in September 2026, taxes included, and the linked product pages are authoritative if anything changes. The ₹220.00, ₹180.00 and ₹40.00 are your own figures, used exactly as given; the ₹220.00 candle is a CSI-priced stack that matches the first of them and is not a claim about the composition of yours. Fragrance load is a percentage of wax weight, as CSI product pages state it: 200 g of wax plus 16.00 g of oil at 8%, 216.00 g poured. The Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 page states a maximum of 10% of total wax weight; the Woody Oud page states soy use at 6–10% and the Eucalyptus Spearmint page states soy use up to 10%, IFRA certification, 0% vanillin and a flash point of 199°C. CSI does not publish a fragrance-load maximum for Eco Soy CSI 400, so on that pairing the oil page's stated range is the only published limit — ask on WhatsApp for the wax figure. No vessel here is said to hold a particular weight of wax; the 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar page publishes millilitres and the Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram page states a capacity of about 70 g of wax fill. Labels, boxes, ribbon, inserts, outbound courier, gateway fees, electricity, rent, wastage and your own hours are not CSI products and are left blank throughout. This page gives no pricing, tax or licensing advice — your selling price is yours and your adviser's.

Message WhatsApp +91 7397976926 for bulk pricing, the stated fragrance-load maximum on a grade whose page does not publish one, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation, or a second pair of eyes on a recosted sheet before you change a specification.

Frequently asked questions

Is the fragrance always the biggest saving in a candle?
On this candle it is the biggest available saving at ₹23.41, but that is because the oil is ₹4.53 a gram. On a candle built with a cheaper oil and a dearer jar the ranking reverses. Cost your own four lines first: multiply your wax rate by your grams, your oil rate by your grams, and add your vessel and wick per piece. The ranking falls out of that, and it is specific to your recipe.
Will a cheaper wax hurt my hot throw?
It can, because throw is a property of the wax and the fragrance together rather than of the fragrance alone. Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00 a kilogram saves ₹21.68 a candle and its page describes it as a one-pour container wax needing no additives, with fragrance added at 85°C within an 80 to 90°C window. CSI does not publish a load maximum for it. Treat the change as a test batch with a full cure and a burn test, not as a line edit.
How much does dropping the fragrance load save?
On this candle, ₹9.06 from 8% to 7% and ₹18.12 from 8% to 6%. The Woody Oud page states soy use at 6–10% of total wax weight, so both sit inside the published range. What the arithmetic does not show is the throw, so change the load and the wick together and burn-test before you commit — a candle that saves ₹18.12 and stops selling has not saved anything.
Can I get a better rate by ordering more wax or oil?
Not per kilogram on this pairing. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilogram at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg alike, and Eco Soy CSI 400 is ₹399.00 a kilogram in its 1 kg pack. On Eucalyptus Spearmint the rate does keep improving up the ladder, from ₹3.54 a gram at 100 gm to ₹3.07 at 1 kg, which is ₹7.55 a candle. Ladders differ by listing — divide each pack price by its grams on the page you buy from, and ask on WhatsApp for a large consignment.
Should I just make a smaller candle instead?
It is a legitimate answer, but it is a new product rather than a saving. A Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram at ₹31.86 whose page states a capacity of about 70 g of wax fill carries far less wax and oil than the candle costed here, so its materials cost far less — and it cannot be sold at the price of the larger one. Cost it separately, price it separately, and keep both on the shelf if the range supports it.
What if none of these routes works for my recipe?
Then the gap is probably not a materials problem. Price your packaging alternatives, check what your outbound courier and platform fees are taking, and look at the ₹10.62 of free saving in your own pack sizes first. If the candle still cannot reach ₹180.00 on materials you are willing to pour, the honest conclusion is that the target belongs to a different product — and what you charge for the one you have is a decision for you and your adviser, not for a costing page.

Not priced anywhere on this page, because CSI does not sell them: labels, outer boxes, ribbon, tissue, inserts, mailers, outbound courier, gateway and marketplace fees, electricity, rent and labour; the wastage row is a blank for the reader's own measurement and no percentage is assumed.
