Fragrance Buying Guides · Orange · 1 kg
CSI stocks three orange candle fragrance oils. At one kilogram they cost ₹7,499, ₹8,032 and ₹8,294. This page gives you those numbers first, then the full tier table for each, then the reason a kilogram of citrus is the one bulk buy we would talk most makers out of.
₹7,499
Juicy Orange, 1 kg — the cheapest orange kilo at CSI · ₹7.50 per gram · Orange no.3 ₹8,032 · Vanilla Orange Blossom ₹8,294 · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does 1 kg of orange candle fragrance oil cost in India? At CSI there are three real orange oils and three real prices: Juicy Orange ₹7,499, Orange no.3 ₹8,032 and Vanilla Orange Blossom ₹8,294. There is no generic "orange fragrance oil" SKU — name the one you mean.
Does the kilogram save me money? No. On all three oils the kilogram is the worst per-gram rate on the price list. Juicy Orange is ₹7.49 a gram at 100 g and ₹7.50 at 1 kg; Orange no.3 is ₹8.03 at both; Vanilla Orange Blossom ₹8.29 at both. Ten 100 g bottles of Juicy Orange come to ₹7,490 against ₹7,499 — the kilo costs ₹9 more for the same oil.
So why buy it? One handling unit instead of ten, one lot number, one decant routine — a workflow argument, not a price argument.
What is the real risk? Shelf life. Citrus top notes are the lightest, most volatile molecules in the catalogue and they go first. A year-old kilogram of orange is a weaker oil than a fresh 100 g bottle, whatever the invoice said.
The kilogram is not a discount. It is flat against 100 g on two of the three and marginally worse on Juicy Orange. Buy it for handling convenience, never for the rate.
Buy it only if you will burn through it. A kilogram is 62 candles at a 200 g fill and 8%. Below roughly ten candles a month of that scent, the 100 g or 500 g tier is the better buy and the fresher oil.
Rupees per gram by pack size. The axis is truncated at ₹7.40 so the differences are visible at all — on a zero-based axis these bars would look identical, which is itself the finding. Juicy Orange drops from ₹8.40 at 15 g to ₹7.49 at 100 g, then ticks back up to ₹7.50 at 500 g and 1 kg. The other two are flat from 100 g on and are not stocked at 15 g or 500 g. Nothing falls at the kilogram.
What is the price of 1 kg of orange candle fragrance oil in India, and is it worth buying?
At CSI, one kilogram of Juicy Orange is ₹7,499, one kilogram of Orange no.3 is ₹8,032, and one kilogram of Vanilla Orange Blossom is ₹8,294. Those are the only three orange candle fragrance oils in the range; there is no single-note "Orange" SKU. The kilogram is the worst per-gram rate on all three. Juicy Orange works out at ₹7.49 per gram at 100 g and ₹7.50 at 1 kg, so ten 100 g bottles cost ₹7,490 against ₹7,499 for the kilo. Orange no.3 is ₹8.03 per gram at both tiers, and Vanilla Orange Blossom ₹8.29 at both. You are buying a handling unit, not a discount — and you are buying it in the one fragrance family that loses the most on the shelf, because citrus top notes are the lightest molecules in the catalogue and they evaporate first. A kilogram is 62 candles at a 200 g fill and an 8% load. If your orange SKU is not consuming that within a season, buy 100 g or 500 g, pour it fresh, and reorder. That advice costs us the larger order and it is still the right advice.
One line: ₹7,499 / ₹8,032 / ₹8,294 for the three orange kilos — no per-gram saving over 100 g on any of them, and citrus is the family least worth holding a kilogram of.
Not certain the scent sells yet? Juicy Orange starts at ₹126 for 15 g; Orange no.3 and Vanilla Orange Blossom at ₹402 and ₹415 for 50 g. Test three jars before committing ₹7,499 to one note.
The kilogram is the biggest number on the page and the worst rate on the page. Both of those things are true at once, and most bulk guides only tell you the first one.
CSI carries 92 fragrance oils; three are orange: Juicy Orange, Orange no.3 and Vanilla Orange Blossom. There is no generic single-note "Orange" product, so a quote for "orange fragrance oil, 1 kg" with no composition named cannot be compared with anything. Below is every tier the three are stocked in. The per-gram column is our arithmetic on the listed price, not a price shown on the site.

Sweet citrus · the cheapest orange kilo
Juicy Orange
The full-sugar orange: bright, sweet and immediately readable as orange from the label, which is most of what an orange candle has to do on a shelf. It is the only one stocked in all five sizes, so you can trial at 15 g and scale without changing product. Its per-gram rate bottoms out at 100 g and then goes back up.

Clean orange · no sweetener
Orange no.3
A drier, peel-forward orange with less candied sweetness — for when the orange sits next to a spice or a wood rather than carrying a jar alone. Stocked in three sizes only: 50 g, 100 g and 1 kg. With no 500 g stepping stone between a trial bottle and a kilo, this decision is unusually binary.

Citrus gourmand · the one with a base
Vanilla Orange Blossom
The most expensive of the three and, for a maker worried about shelf life, the most defensible kilogram of the set: it is not purely a top-note composition. The vanilla and blossom material under the citrus is heavier, so something is left after the brightest molecules thin. Stocked at 50 g, 100 g and 1 kg.
Fragrance load is a percentage of the finished candle by weight: a 200 g candle at 8% holds 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax, so a kilogram is 62 of those. Two of the loads below are wax ceilings, not free choices — Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are formulated to hold up to 13%, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%. Those are formulation limits, not regulatory limits, and not interchangeable. Cost per candle is at 1 kg pricing.

Read the extremes. At 100 g and 8% a kilogram is 125 candles; at 300 g and 13% in Luxury Soy Chunks it is 25, with ₹292.46 of fragrance in each. The same kilogram is half a year of work or three weekends, depending on fill size. Check that number before the price.
Work the cost backwards, not forwards
Retail a 200 g orange candle at ₹899 and the fragrance line at 8% with Juicy Orange is ₹119.98, about 13% of retail. At 13% in Luxury Soy Chunks it is ₹194.97, nearly 22%. That is a pricing decision, not a formulation one — work it through with how to price candles in India in 2026 first.
Citrus is the wrong family to hold a kilogram of
A kilogram is not a quantity. It is a length of time. And orange is the family that handles time worst.
This is the argument that matters and it has nothing to do with the price list. A fragrance oil blends molecules of different weights. The heavy ones — vanillin, resins, sandalwood and oud materials, musks — evaporate slowly. The terpenes that make an orange smell like an orange are small and volatile. That volatility is why citrus reads bright in a cold jar, and why it is the first thing to leave the bottle. The property you are buying is the property that degrades.
Citrus terpenes also oxidise. Every opening introduces air, the headspace works on a half-empty bottle, and warmth and light accelerate both — an Indian studio in May is neither cool nor dark by default. The bottle does not end up smelling of nothing; it smells flatter, more like generic sweetness and less like peel. The change is gradual, so you notice it in a customer's message, not in the bottle.
The CSI principle
A year-old kilogram of orange is a weaker oil than a fresh 100 g bottle, and no invoice records that.
Wax does not go off in a way you will notice in a season. Glass does not. Wicks do not. Citrus fragrance oil quietly does, from the day it is decanted, and the decline is fastest in exactly the notes you bought it for — which is why a kilogram of orange carries a risk that a kilogram of Sandalwood or Vanilla Bean does not.
Put the two facts together and the case closes itself. The kilogram gives no per-gram saving — ₹7.50 against ₹7.49, ₹8.03 against ₹8.03, ₹8.29 against ₹8.29 — and it carries the one degradation risk that bites. Were it 15% cheaper per gram you would be trading freshness for margin and could do the sum. It is not. You are trading freshness for a tidier shelf.
What degraded citrus looks like in production. Cold throw goes first — the jar stops announcing itself when a customer picks it up. Then hot throw thins in the first twenty minutes of burn. Makers misdiagnose it as a wax or wick fault and re-test the whole recipe. The real test: pour one candle with the old oil and one with a fresh 15 g bottle of the same product, cure both fourteen days, burn them side by side. Related: premium vs cheap fragrance oils.
The counter-case belongs to Vanilla Orange Blossom. A composition with a real base under the citrus does not fall off a cliff when the top thins; it turns warmer rather than hollow. If you want a kilogram of orange regardless, the citrus-gourmand is the sounder one — paying ₹795 more than Juicy Orange is the conservative choice here, not the extravagant one.
Buy the kilogram for the workflow if you want. Never buy it for the rate, and never buy it for the calendar.

A full 200 g bill of materials at 8%
The question is easier once you see where fragrance sits in the cost of a candle. Below is a complete 200 g container candle from live CSI stock at an 8% load with Juicy Orange at 1 kg pricing, everything else at its best in-stock bulk tier.
200 g container candle · 8% load · 16 g oil, 184 g wax
Two things fall out. First, the fragrance is ₹119.98 of a ₹255.61 build — 47% of the material cost and the largest line by a wide margin. Wax is ₹93.36; everything else together is ₹42.27. That is why ₹9 between ten bottles and a kilo is trivial next to whether the oil is at full strength when you pour it.
Second, swapping the oil barely moves the candle: ₹264.14 with Orange no.3, ₹268.33 with Vanilla Orange Blossom — a spread of ₹12.72. Choose the orange that sells, not the cheapest.
Two substitutions. The Orange Matte Glass Jar at ₹708.00 per pack of 10 (₹70.80 each) costs ₹41.30 more per candle than the salsa jar and puts the orange on the shelf before the candle is lit. To tint the wax instead, Orange Candle Dye Liquid is ₹236.00 for 15 ml and concentrated. Full range in Containers.
Working back from Diwali on 8 November 2026, a festive orange run needs its oil decided now, poured with time to cure and shipped with room to spare. Bulk pricing, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation are handled on WhatsApp.
Everything above argues against the purchase, so here is the case for it. One maker should buy a kilogram of orange: the one with a proven, high-volume citrus SKU that will turn it inside a season. Not someone who thinks orange might do well — someone with twelve months of order data on that product, buying against a run already sold or forecast. The gains are real and none are financial: one bottle instead of ten is one decant routine, one lot number and one thing to lose.
1
The consumption threshold, from the yield tableTake six months as the outer limit for holding an opened citrus oil. A kilogram is 62 candles at a 200 g fill and 8%, so the threshold is about eleven 200 g orange candles a month — nine a month at 200 g and 10%, seventeen at 100 g and 10%, six at 300 g and 10%. Below that in real sales history, buy 500 g or 100 g.
2
Check that it is one SKU, not threeA kilogram only makes sense behind a single product. Split across a 150 g votive, a 200 g jar and a 300 g apothecary, the oil is still consumed but each format reorders at a different time and the convenience argument weakens. How much fragrance oil a candle business needs works the forecast through.
3
Buy the kilogram against an order, not against a hopeFestive volume is the honest use case: confirmed orders for a Diwali run, covered by one unit that is gone inside eight weeks — the one scenario where citrus degradation never gets a chance to matter. See how early to order fragrance oils for Diwali and best oils for festive bulk orders.
4
Below the threshold, use the tier that is actually cheaperOn Juicy Orange the 100 g bottle at ₹749 is ₹7.49 a gram — the best rate on the product, and the freshest oil you can pour. On Orange no.3 and Vanilla Orange Blossom the 100 g tier matches the kilo exactly. No penalty for buying small.
Buy the kilogram if: twelve months of data on one orange SKU, threshold volume inside six months, somewhere cool and dark, and a working bottle decanted. Buy 100 g or 500 g if: the scent is new, the season uncertain, you pour several orange formats, or the oil would sit open in a warm studio. The second list covers most makers, including profitable ones.
Storing a kilogram of citrus so it survives the season
Once the kilogram is bought, storage stops being housekeeping and becomes part of the recipe. Four things degrade citrus: air, light, heat and time. You cannot do anything about the fourth, which is why the first three must be managed properly rather than approximately.
1
Decant a working bottle on day onePour 100 g to 150 g into a small, clean, tightly-capped bottle and work from that. The kilogram is then opened once a fortnight instead of twice a week, which removes most of its air exposure at a stroke. Refill in one go, not by repeated topping up.
2
Seal it properly, not looselyCap it tight immediately, every time, and check it seats flat. A cap resting on the neck while you finish weighing is an hour of open headspace you did not intend. Never decant into a vessel you are not certain is oil-safe and airtight.
3
Dark and cool, and mean bothOut of sunlight, off the floor beside the melter. A closed cupboard on an internal wall is usually the coolest dark place in an Indian studio. Never store fragrance oil on or beside a wax melter, and do not refrigerate it — condensation on opening introduces water.
4
Minimise headspace as the kilo emptiesA three-quarters empty bottle is three-quarters full of air, and that air oxidises the terpenes. Past halfway, move the remainder into a smaller sealed bottle so the liquid sits near the top. Write the open date on the label — the only way to tell whether a throw complaint is about your method or the calendar.
Test on the way in, not on the way out
Pour and cure one reference candle from the kilogram in its first week, date it, keep it sealed. When a batch three months later reads flat, burn the reference alongside it — one evening instead of a fortnight of wick testing. Weigh, do not measure: load is a weight percentage, so use a weighing scale at ₹354.
Documentation is part of buying a kilogram, not an afterthought. CSI supplies GST invoicing on every order, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request for any oil in the range, including all three oranges. Ask at the point of order: corporate gifting clients and marketplaces will ask eventually, and filing it against the invoice for that lot beats reconstructing it. IFRA documentation states usage guidance per application and is separate from the wax's stated ceiling; both apply. For bulk pricing or stock on a tier, message +91 7397976926 on WhatsApp.
Why trust this guide
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells the kilogram this page argues against. A ₹7,499 order is better for us than a ₹749 one, and we have published the arithmetic that removes the reason to place it — because a maker who buys a kilo of citrus, watches it thin and blames the oil does not reorder.
Every price here is a live CSI variant price from the September 2026 pull and links to its product page, where current pricing takes precedence. Per-gram figures, per-candle costs and the bill of materials are our arithmetic on those listed prices. The 13% and 10% figures are the loads stated by the wax manufacturer for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — formulation limits, not regulatory limits.
The shelf-life argument is a statement about molecular weight and volatility, not a test result: we have run no accelerated ageing study and claim none. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.
Frequently asked questions
What is the price of 1 kg of orange candle fragrance oil in India?
Three oils, three prices: Juicy Orange₹7,499, Orange no.3₹8,032, Vanilla Orange Blossom₹8,294 — ₹7.50, ₹8.03 and ₹8.29 per gram. CSI live pricing, September 2026; the product pages are authoritative.
Is buying 1 kg cheaper than buying smaller bottles?
No — the kilogram is the worst per-gram rate on all three. Juicy Orange is ₹7.49 a gram at 100 g and ₹7.50 at 1 kg, so ten 100 g bottles cost ₹7,490 against ₹7,499. Orange no.3 is ₹8.03 at both tiers, Vanilla Orange Blossom ₹8.29 at both. The kilogram buys one handling unit, not a discount.
How many candles will 1 kg of orange fragrance oil make?
It depends on fill size and load: 125 candles at a 100 g fill and 8%, 62 at 200 g and 8%, 50 at 200 g and 10%, 25 at 300 g and 13%. The 13% figure applies only to a wax formulated for it — Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state up to 13%, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%.
Does orange fragrance oil lose strength in storage?
Citrus is the family most affected. The molecules that make an orange smell like an orange are light and volatile — which is why its cold throw is immediate, and why they evaporate and oxidise faster than heavy materials such as vanilla, sandalwood or oud. A year-old kilogram of orange is a weaker oil than a fresh 100 g bottle. Keep it sealed, dark and cool, decant a working bottle, minimise headspace and date the label.
Which of the three oranges should I buy a kilogram of?
If the kilo will be poured inside a season, Juicy Orange at ₹7,499 is the cheapest and most obviously "orange" on a label. If it may sit longer, Vanilla Orange Blossom at ₹8,294 is the sounder hold — its base survives what the citrus top does not. Orange no.3 at ₹8,032 is the drier option for blends. The spread is ₹12.72 per 200 g candle, so choose on what sells.
Do you provide GST invoices and safety documentation?
Yes. GST invoicing is standard on every order and MSDS and IFRA documentation is supplied on request for any oil in the 92-oil range, including all three oranges. Ask at the point of order so it is filed against the invoice for that lot. IFRA documentation states usage guidance per application and is separate from the wax manufacturer's stated fragrance ceiling — both apply. Request either on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.
