the worked wax reorder point at 200 candles a day: four 50 kg-bag orders carry a 10,000-candle contract with no stop · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
When should I reorder during a 10,000-candle contract? When each material's stock position (on hand plus already ordered) falls to its reorder point: daily use × (your lead time + the days you need to check the delivery) + safety stock. Work it out per material, because each has its own daily use, lead time and check.

What are the worked reorder points? For 200 candles a day: wax 340.03 kg, each oil 14.78 kg, wicks 1,696, jars 2,332. Lead times are your own figures (worked: 5 working days, 7 for jars); CSI publishes none, so confirm dispatch on WhatsApp before each order.

What does the schedule look like? Four orders per material over 50 production days, about every ten days: wax on days 6, 17, 28 and 40; each oil on 8, 18, 29 and 39; wicks on 7, 17, 27 and 37; jars on 6, 16, 27 and 37. The last order of each is smaller, sized to finish the contract.

What must I never skip? The check days inside the lead time. A new wax or oil lot is checked side by side before it goes into the contract (worked: 3 days); jars and wicks get an incoming inspection (1 day). Order early enough that the check happens before you need the stock, not instead of it.
The short answer
Your contract: 10,000 candles (your figure). Worked: clear 200 ml Salsa jar, 160 g at 8% (12.8 g oil + 147.2 g wax), Natural Soy Pearl Wax, Lavender and Apple Cinnamon 5,000 each, Eco C2; 200 a day for 50 production days (about 8.3 weeks), 2,000 delivered every 10 production days.
Daily use (with planned loss): wax 30.912 kg, each oil 1.344 kg (scents alternating), wicks and jars 212.
The decision rule: reorder when stock position ≤ daily use × (lead + check + safety days); size each order to about ten production days, rounded to packs; size the last one to finish the contract.
The money: ₹18,16,174.80 of CSI materials over the contract (₹181.62 a candle, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST); ₹5,93,085.00 of it before day 1.

Worked wax stock across a 50-day, 10,000-candle contract. Each order goes out when stock falls to the reorder point and becomes usable nine working days later (five days' lead time, three days' lot check, used from the next day), by which time stock has fallen towards, but not through, the safety band. The calendar below shows every order for all four materials.
Straight answer
When should I reorder materials during a multi-week 10,000-candle contract so supplier lead time never stops production?
Reorder each material when its stock position, meaning what is on your floor plus what is already on order, falls to its reorder point: daily use × (lead time + check days) + safety stock. Daily use comes from your production rate and planned loss. Lead time is the working days from placing the order to the goods arriving, as you have actually experienced it with your supplier; CSI publishes no dispatch or transit times, so confirm them on WhatsApp before each order. Check days are the time a delivery spends being inspected or lot-checked before it can go into the contract: a few days for a new wax or oil lot, a day for jars and wicks. Safety stock is a few days of use held back for a late delivery or a bad day. In the worked contract of 10,000 candles at 200 a day, that gives reorder points of 340.03 kg of wax, 14.78 kg of each oil, 1,696 wicks and 2,332 jars. Order about ten production days' worth each time, rounded to whole packs, and the contract runs on four orders per material with no stop; the last order of each material is sized to finish the contract rather than to a full cycle. Recalculate the moment your lead time or daily rate changes.
One line: reorder when on-hand plus on-order falls to daily use × (lead time + check days + safety days), per material, and re-check it every time the lead time moves.
The contract's largest line: Natural Soy Pearl Wax in 50 kg bags at ₹21,240.00 (₹424.80 a kilo, the same as the 5 kg). In stock on 7 October 2026; stock depth and dispatch for each reorder: confirm on WhatsApp.
Pearl 50 kg — ₹21,240.00

The contract and its daily use

Reorder points are built from daily use. Get daily use right, including the loss, before anything else.

Your figure is the title's: 10,000 candles over several weeks. The rest is a labelled worked example. The candle is a 160 g fill in the clear 200 ml Salsa jar at 8% on the total-weight basis (12.8 g of oil, 147.2 g of Natural Soy Pearl Wax), 5,000 in Lavender and 5,000 in Apple Cinnamon, with one Eco C2 wick, all on the assumption that the formula has passed burn testing in this jar. Production is 200 good candles a production day, six days a week, for 50 production days (about 8.3 weeks), with 2,000 delivered every ten production days. Scents alternate day by day, so each oil is used on half the days.

That table is also the contract's purchase sheet, spread over time: required (10,000 × the recipe) plus planned loss, rounded to packs order by order, with what is left at the end. The wax left at the end is not waste. It is the safety stock, held the whole way through and never needed, and Pearl is a standard wax you will use on the next order. The oils are run down to almost nothing because the last oil orders deliberately leave out the safety stock: a client scent is the material you least want left over. Ten QC retains per scent are poured from the opening stock and logged separately.

Use your measured rate, not the plan
After the first week, replace the planned daily use with the measured one from your batch log. If the wax is running at 4% over plan, the reorder point rises 4% with it. The weekly variance table that tells you this is the post on tracking each material's variance separately.

The reorder point, built line by line

Three parts: use while you wait, use while you check, and a cushion. Nothing else.

The reorder point answers one question: how much must still be on hand, or on its way, at the moment you order, so that you never run out before the new stock can be used? While the order is travelling you keep producing (lead time). When it arrives you keep producing while you check it (check days). And something will go wrong once in a while (safety stock).

Reorder points, per material
ROP = daily use × (lead time + check days + safety days) · lead times are your own worked figures; CSI publishes none
Material Daily use Lead time Check days Safety days Safety stock Reorder point
Wax 30.912 kg 5 3 (lot check) 3 92.74 kg 340.03 kg
Each oil 1.344 kg 5 3 (lot check) 3 4.03 kg 14.78 kg
Wicks 212 5 1 (incoming check) 2 424 1,696
Jars 212 7 1 (inspection) 3 636 2,332

Lead time: your number, not ours

Lead time is everything between your order and stock on your floor: order confirmation, payment, dispatch, transit, unloading. CSI does not publish dispatch or transit times, and this page will not invent them. Use what you have actually seen on past orders to your city, add a day if those orders varied, and confirm dispatch on WhatsApp before each reorder. The worked figures (five working days, seven for heavy, breakable glass) are examples only.

Check days: the part people leave out

A delivery is not usable the moment it arrives. A new wax or oil lot should be compared with the stock you are using before it goes into the contract: pour a few candles from each side by side, compare colour and cold scent once set, and a short burn. Worked: three days. Jars are counted and inspected for breakage, wicks for tabs and crimps: worked, a day each. If you leave check days out of the reorder point, you will either skip the check or stop production to do it. How to run the lot checks is in the post on a new lot of the same fragrance mid-run and the post on managing multiple wax lots; breakage on arrival is the post on 15 jars arriving broken.

Safety stock: a few days, not a few weeks

Safety stock covers a late delivery, a bad production day or a lot that fails its check. Worked: three days for wax, oils and jars, two for wicks. The right number depends on how much your lead time has varied in the past: if deliveries to you have arrived anywhere between four and seven days after ordering, a five-day lead time needs at least two safety days to cover the late end. More safety stock is cheap insurance for standard materials and expensive for client scents, which is why the oils run theirs down at the end.

Mistake: comparing the reorder point with stock on the floor only. Why it costs you: on day 7 the wax on the floor is below the reorder point and you order again, although 350 kg is already on its way; you end up with two orders in transit and twice the cash tied up. Fix: compare the reorder point with stock position: on hand plus on order.

The order schedule across the contract

Four orders per material, each one placed on a day you can write on the calendar now.

The opening order arrives and is checked before production day 1: 500 kg of wax (10 × 50 kg), 25 kg of each oil, 3,000 wicks and 3,500 jars, ₹5,93,085.00 in all. After that, each material is reordered whenever its stock position reaches its reorder point, about ten production days' use at a time, rounded to whole packs. The simulation below runs day by day at the planned rate; replace the inputs with yours and the days will move.

Read the wax line against the chart above. Each 350 kg order goes out when stock position reaches 340.03 kg (about 11.0 days of use) and becomes usable nine working days later. The lowest point in the whole contract is about 63.28 kg, roughly 2.0 days of use, which is the safety stock doing its job on the days just before a delivery is cleared. The last wax order is only 100 kg because the contract is nearly finished: it tops stock up to the remaining need plus the safety stock, not to a full ten days. The contract ends with 101.46 kg of wax on hand, which is the safety stock; if you are comfortable running it down in the last week, make the last order 50 kg and finish with 51.46 kg.

1
Measure daily use per materialFrom the plan for week 1, then from your batch log. Include planned loss; scents that alternate use half the rate each.
2
Write down your lead timesFrom your own past orders, per material, in working days. Confirm dispatch for the next order on WhatsApp; never assume a figure CSI has not given you.
3
Add check days and safety daysLot check for wax and oil, inspection for jars and wicks; safety days from how much your past lead times varied.
4
Compute each reorder pointDaily use × (lead + check + safety). Worked: wax 340.03 kg, each oil 14.78 kg, wicks 1,696, jars 2,332.
5
Check stock position every eveningOn hand plus on order, per material, against its reorder point. Five lines on a whiteboard; two minutes.
6
Order, then size the last order to finishAbout ten production days per order, rounded to packs; the final order of each material covers only what the contract still needs (plus safety for standard materials).

Your lead time, and what to do when it moves

The schedule is only as good as the lead time in it. When the lead time changes, the reorder point changes the same day.

Lead times stretch in busy seasons: Diwali gifting in October and wedding orders in winter put more demand on every supplier, courier and transporter. If your wax lead time stretches from five working days to 7, the reorder point rises from 340.03 kg to 401.86 kg, and every wax order in the schedule moves about two days earlier. Do that arithmetic the day you hear about the delay, not the day the stock runs low.

If a lead time changes
Practical judgement for a multi-week contract
What changed What to do the same day
Lead time longer raise the reorder point by daily use × extra days; check whether any order is now overdue
Production rate higher raise daily use; the reorder point and order size both rise
A delivery fails its lot check treat it as not arrived: stock position falls, reorder now, use safety stock meanwhile
Measured loss above plan raise daily use to the measured rate (see the variance table)
Client pauses or cuts the contract stop the next orders; oils first, because they are the least reusable

Argued against our own interest: the obvious way to "never stop" is to buy all 1,650 kg of wax, 68 kg of each oil and every jar before day 1. At CSI prices it would not even cost more per unit: Pearl is ₹424.80 a kilo from 5 kg, Apple Cinnamon is flat per gram, C2 is ₹9.44 a wick in every pack. We still do not recommend it for a contract this long. It puts all ₹18,16,174.80 on day 1, fills your floor, and leaves you holding every scent if the client changes the brief in week 4. Four planned orders per material with honest lead times and real check days protect production just as well. Whether to buy everything up front for a shorter order is a different question, covered in the post on topping up midway versus buying it all, and the cash side of reserving everything is in the post on reserving all materials before batch one.

Mistake: using the supplier's "usual" dispatch time as your lead time. Why it costs you: dispatch is one part of lead time; transit, unloading and payment add days, and the busy season adds more. Fix: measure door-to-door from your own past orders, confirm dispatch before each order, and keep the safety days honest.

Protecting the contract

The reorder schedule protects production. The contract also needs protecting from the other side.

What must not be skipped, and its calendar time: every wax and oil delivery gets its side-by-side lot check before it goes into the contract (three days, inside the reorder point), and every jar and wick delivery gets its incoming check (a day). Any lot that looks different is held and the client's approved sample is the reference. Cure is calendar time too: candles poured on day 50 still need to set and be checked before the last delivery, so the final tranche ships a few days after the last pour.

Commercial protection (practical judgement, not legal advice): a multi-week contract with deliveries every ten production days is a natural fit for tranche invoicing, so each delivery pays for the next block of materials. Put the quantities, the approved sample, the tranche dates, the advance and what happens to materials already bought if the client cuts or pauses the contract into a written order before you place the opening order. The oils are client-specific and the least reusable, so they are the line your advance should cover first. If the contract becomes a monthly standing order, the planning changes again: that is the post on turning a one-time customer into recurring demand.

Before each reorder, send the quantity and your required usable date on WhatsApp. This page cannot promise stock depth, dispatch days or that a reorder will be the same lot as the last one; asking every time is what makes the schedule real. If the answer changes your lead time, change the reorder point that day.

wax · the largest pack CSI lists · reorder in bags
Natural Soy Pearl Wax
The worked contract's wax, on the assumption that it is already your proven wax. In the text we captured, the page states no fragrance load ceiling and no temperatures, so your own tested formula governs. It is the only CSI wax sold above 10 kg, and it is ₹424.80 a kilo from the 5 kg bag to the 50 kg (5.6% less than the 1 kg). Argued against our own interest: the 50 kg bag is no cheaper per kilo than the 5 kg, so there is no price reason to take all 1,650 kg on day 1. Reorder 350 kg every ten production days and keep cash and floor space free. Confirm stock and dispatch before each reorder; CSI does not promise either, or one lot across the contract.

herbal / aromatic · scent one · cheaper per gram at 1 kg
Lavender Fragrance Oil
The first worked scent. The page describes "fresh lavender top notes, herbal green mid notes, and soft musk base" and states "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles"; in the text we captured it states no cure time. Here the 1 kg really is cheaper per gram than the 500 g (₹5.22 against ₹5.24), so reorders go in 1 kg packs. Every reorder is a possible new lot, which is why the oil's reorder point carries three check days.

Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil
The second worked scent. The page lists "crisp juicy apple and spicy cinnamon opening into baked goods and nutmeg, settling into vanilla and warm amber" and states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours". Pricing fact: ₹4.74 a gram at 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg alike, so a small final top-up costs the same per gram as a kilo: useful for the contract's last, smaller order.

Eco Candle Wicks — Thick (C2)
Assumed to be the wick already proven in this jar with these oils; a wick is proven by a burn test in your jar, never by default (the clear Salsa page names no wick; the coloured Salsa pages say "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks"). ₹9.44 a wick in every pack, so reorder size is a matter of storage and cash, never price. The Thin (C1) 10-wick pack is out of stock on 7 October 2026; every C2 pack is in stock.

200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap (Golden Lid)
₹29.50 a jar in 50s and 100s (₹40.12 in 5s), so reorder in 100s. Glass is heavy and breaks, which is why the worked jar lead time is the longest (7 working days) and the reorder point the highest in days. A 200 ml jar does not hold 200 g of wax: by the common rule of thumb about 172–180 g to the brim, hence the 160 g worked fill, to be confirmed by a weighed pour. The page calls it "Upcycled and ready to be reborn" and states no dimensions; ask whether contract quantities are new or upcycled, and from one batch, on WhatsApp.
Pack Price Per jar Role here
5 Pcs ₹200.60 ₹40.12 samples only

11,300 jars over the contract = ₹3,33,350.00. Buy 100 — ₹2,950.00

The honest summary: on these lines, CSI's bigger packs do not change the per-unit price, so the reorder schedule is about lead time, check time, cash and floor space, never about chasing a bulk rate.

Wedding season, commonly November to February: long contracts for wedding favours and corporate gifting overlap with the busiest weeks for deliveries. Send us your reorder calendar on WhatsApp before you sign; we will confirm what we can supply and dispatch, or say plainly what we cannot promise.

The CSI principle
Reorder on stock position, count the check days as part of the wait, and change the reorder point the day the lead time changes.
Worked: wax 340.03 kg, each oil 14.78 kg, wicks 1,696, jars 2,332; four orders per material over 50 production days, no stop.
"A delivery you have not checked is not stock yet. Put the checking days inside the reorder point, not after it."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the materials named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you not to buy the whole contract before day 1, that the 50 kg wax bag is no cheaper per kilo than the 5 kg, and that our pages give you no lead time to plan with: you must ask.

Every CSI price was checked on the live store on 7 October 2026, pack by pack; the Eco C1 10-wick pack, not used here, is out of stock on that date. Page wording is quoted as written: Lavender's and Apple Cinnamon's notes and stated loads, Apple Cinnamon's 48-72 hour cure, the Salsa jar's "Upcycled" line; Natural Soy Pearl Wax states no load ceiling or temperatures in the text we captured.

The contract, rate, lead times, check and safety days, order sizes and the day-by-day schedule are labelled worked examples and practical judgement. Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the reorder point for candle raw materials?
Daily use × (lead time + check days) + safety stock, per material. Worked at 200 candles a day: wax 340.03 kg, each oil 14.78 kg, wicks 1,696, jars 2,332.
What lead time should I use for CSI orders?
Your own door-to-door experience from past orders, confirmed before each reorder on WhatsApp. CSI publishes no dispatch or transit times, and this page does not promise any.
How much safety stock should a candle business keep during a big order?
A few days of use, sized to how much your past lead times varied. Worked: three days for wax, oils and jars, two for wicks. Standard materials can carry more; client scents less.
How often should I reorder during a 10,000-candle contract?
About every ten production days per material in the worked contract: four orders each over 50 production days, the last one smaller to finish the contract.
Should I buy all raw materials for a large candle contract upfront?
Not for a contract this long. At CSI prices it would not save money per unit, it would put ₹18,16,174.80 on day 1 and leave you holding every scent if the brief changes. Plan reorders instead.
Do I need to check every new delivery during a long candle order?
Yes. Lot-check each wax and oil delivery side by side before use (worked: 3 days) and inspect jars and wicks (1 day). Build those days into the reorder point.
Never stop for stock
A reorder point per material, check days inside it, and a confirmed dispatch before every order.
Worked 10,000-candle contract: four orders per material over 50 production days, the lowest wax point still above zero, and ₹18,16,174.80 of CSI materials spread over nine weeks instead of one day. Confirm stock and dispatch with us on WhatsApp before each reorder.
